Per App DPI settings without Paranoid Android

Hey, guys! Firefox Beta is currently my browser of choice, but due to the DPI settings of our beloved Nexus 7, the app uses the Phone UI. Just look at it!

Now, let's take a look at it's layout when it sees a proper tablet DPI.
Fabulous! Now let's figure out how we can achieve this...
First of all, we need to install a framework called Xposed. This handy app can modify your ROM without touching an APK or having to flash anything. If your interested, read more about it in its OP. Speaking of the OP, you'll be downloading the APK at the bottom under attachments
You'll find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Open the app and touch the 'Install/Update' button. It should install successfully and request that you reboot your device. Do so now.
Now, we need to grab the app that will allow us to change the DPI settings per app. The app will also allow you to deny permissions to apps, but that's not why we are here.
You'll find the app in the attachment section of the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2072081
Install it and then open the previously installed Xposed Installer. Switch over to the Modules tab and checkmark the Xposed App Settings. Reboot.
Almost done!
After you've rebooted, open up the Xposed App Settings app. Scroll down to the app you would like to modify. In this case, we'll be changing Firefox Beta to tablet mode. Select Firefox Beta when you find it and enable it. Once enabled, you'll be greeted with the following screen:
Yours won't look exactly like that, but you'll need to make yours look like that also. Your DPI can be anything between 160 and 177. Once you've applied those, touch the wrench icon on the top right and force stop the app. go back to the app and touch the icon to the left of the |> icon. It'll ask you if you want to kill the application, do it again for good measure.
Success! Touch the |> icon to start the app and it should be laid out in all its tablet glory!
Bonus: You can also get the tablet, dual pane version of the Settings app by setting the resolution to 1000x1600 in Xposed App Settings.
In closing, take a look at some before and after pictures for some apps that don't have tablet lay outs by default.

As you can see, most of the text is squeezed together in an undesirable fashion. I switched it back. I also believe Pulse has a tablet layout, but I'm not sure.
If you know of any more apps that do this, let me know.

Tried and followed instruction,was able to change the UI but i think changing the dpi doest work thanks for sharing

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm no developer, so I can't be of much help with issues like that. Your best betis to ask the developer of xposed in his thread, or trying again.

Except it's no longer stock; you've modified the framework. Keep that in mind when you get an OTA.

So how do you know if xposed installed the files correctly does it auto reboot?

True, but uninstalling the Xposed Framework is simple enough.

Darn when I go to reboot its gets stuck at logo....I'll try soft reboot

Not sure I see how Firefox looks any better though. Looks horrible both ways. Truly a terrible browser imo. No redeeming features for me since I am not interested in flash.

I've since ditched the browser for Lightning Browser. Tablet may look the same, but the tab system feels much better in tablet mode.
Flash also works fine on Lightning Browser.
EDIT: OP updated with info for dual pane Settings app. Too lazy to check it? Well, it's simple. Select 1000x1600 resolution for the Settings app.

For me it's the other way around. I am on stock rom, by the way.

Gives me bootloops von my Nexus 7 3G with codefireX.

I can't get the firefox beta in tablet mode on my note 2 any ideas . I tried all the op settings

[Q] Missing RAW Manual controls?

Hey everyone. I just updated the camera to the update that allows RAW support. Unfortunately, it isn't doing me any good. When I swap from the regular camera I lose the ability to set up manual settings. I can take an image but it looks like it is over exposing by a ton. The highlights are absolute white as the camera tries to bring out the darkest portions of the photo. Where you would swap between camera exposure modes in the normal camera module, is replaced only by the gear for settings and I have no 3 dot menu. Basically the RAW control is useless (for me) because the camera goes and does whatever it wants without letting me control it.
I can keep shooting in the regular camera module but I am a professional photographer and would love to be able to touch up my photos in lightroom or photoshop for some fun.
At this point what I am wondering is, am I the only one with this issue? I will get ahold of a screenshot on the phone so that everyone can see what is happening as well.

This is exactly what I did as well. I was super excited for RAW since I use Lightroom and Photoshop a ton.

Yep same here.

What does the raw image look like in photoshop? Are you able to adjust the levels since a raw image is supposed to contain all the info to be controllable just like the settings in regular mode, but in post production? (as you know, but someone else might not)
These photos could look just fine, they just have to be photoshopped, which was the point of raw anyway, but just look like trash in the phone beforehand. Of course, being that washed out is a pita

TADA! Raw vs edited raw. And you can definitely edit every value in photoshop

Same problem
Having the exact same issue. No manual shutter or focus control, causing my images to be extremely overblown, even putting it into light room can't get the highlights in control, seems like the shutter is staying open for a long time because everything is super blurry. I've seen screenshots of people using the camera and having access to the manual settings, I don't understand why they aren't there for me.

haha, yeah.... this guy here.... he is special alright, touched by the might gods of special, you might say...

Weird part yesterday I did not have them , and now when I take a RAW it does shows

I'm also missing the manual controls in RAW. Have tried uninstalling the camera update and reinstalling with no luck. Have poked around in all the settings, everything. Would sure appreciate some ideas!

I just received this phone 2 days ago. When I use Gboard, press enter key an this happen. Anyway of fix this, it get annoyed. That thing won't go away unless I go to another page or press home button.

Clear Gboard cache and data. If that doesn't work I would recommend a factory reset.

It looks like your keyboard is using a transparent theme of some sort. If you don't wanna clear your cache and data for Gboard... Try just changing the theme on it.

Factory reset...
Fastboot factory image...if bootloader is unlocked
Uninstall all themes....
Uninstall/reinstall Gboard...
Try another keyboard.

I talk to rep, do another factory reset. It work few day then it happen again.
Does anyone experience while plug in to charge phone, it charge to about 50 to 65% ish the lightning symbol disappear and it stop charging for roughly 3-5min. I try unpluse then clean the charge port and plug back in few times but it won't work, then another few time it work again.

Every textbox, I try chrome, Firefox opera.
Sometime when I press power button to lock the phone, there is a bright flash be for the always on display show. It doesn't always happen but at least 5-6timea per day. It get a bit annoyed

Could you take a screenshot of your app drawer? There might be something installed that's conflicting with Gboard. I've never seen this or heard of anyone with this issue. You're totally stock right?

I'm assuming you have a lot more apps than that right? If you're having problems uploading screenshots it's because of Tapatalk. I switched to the XDA app because of it.

Strange. Nothing really out of the ordinary. You should also check through the list of apps in the settings app. Sometimes things can get reinstalled that wouldn't show up necessarily in the app drawer.

DP3 UX Operation/Visual Differences

So far I've noticed the following. Note this list doesn't include obvious things like "the recent menu now has a clear all". Also I have put this here because I suspect some of the topics will be "where did x go"? Moderators, feel free to move this to the discussion forum if you want.
1. Unfortunately Google has severely toned down or else removed many of the navigation-related animations that were present in DP2. I loved them...
2. The color mode preview image in settings is now a hummingbird instead of simply a drab background.
3. The AOD now has the At A Glance weather image tacked onto the date portion. This includes color, as my display currently has a yellow sun mark.
4. Using gesture navigation, it is now much easier to actually call up the recent list: it kind of pops in place now, aided by haptic feedback that some on Reddit are already complaining about.
5. The "separation icon" that replaced the mini arrow above the homescreen's docked apps is now gone entirely.
6. Haptic feedback overall feels much stronger than before.
7. Some language-translation things have been fixed, yet new ones have appeared. For reference I have my phone set to Japanese and the "Support" tab in Settings is now listed in English whereas before the title was in Japanese, and the gesture navigation setting is now titled in Japanese whereas before it was in English.
8. The OS version is now listed as 9, instead of P.
9. The Sharing menu setting now includes a tab of "previously paired" devices.
10. The home screen now requires manual setting to allow rotation when auto-rotate isn't enabled.
11. The native scaling seems to have been adjusted (or broken) as the navigation bar-based clock seems to either be smaller than before, or else glitch between large and smaller.

Anyone know how to get rid of this? The squashed notification when the quick settings is fully expanded?

I don't want to clear it. I want to interact with it. Sometimes it's hard to reach a notification so I use a gesture to expand the quick settings tile further so I can hit reply or Mark as read.

It's been there forewer if you didn't update Google app . . .
Since most of the users did, it dissapeared. For me it was there for the whole Beta 1 stage, earlier I didn't pay attention to it.
Now Playing now works consistentlly, when you double tap on the song, it takes you to Asistant directly with more info displayed.

Yeah, very odd.
Even wiped data in the pixel launcher settings and it didn't do anything

Working fine. I don't use it often but didn't realize it only does one line of text and needs adjustment in it's highlighting. Even though the "t" at the end doesn't look highlighted, it was copied.

Yeah, for some reason I go to long press to select something and nothing happens, then if I let go, it just opens the app that I am long pressing on.
There is a setting in the Pixel Launcher that I found for it. Pixel settings - Suggestions - Overview selection. This was/is toggled on and it still is not working. I tried to toggle it off and back on again, no luck.

Very strange. I toggled it off and on and the option works for both. The obvious restarting your phone doesn't do anything?

Unless someone else has any other ideas, I will probably factory reset to see if that fixes it, which I am sure it will. DP4 is around the corner though, so I may just wait.

Would like to add that this was not fixed with the DP4 OTA. I am still unable to select text or share anything.

Hi, fresh install of DP5, selection feature in recents don't work.

it only works if your system language is set to English US. google as usual being an a** by bringing features to US first.
