At the moment unfortunately we have no a 100% reliable recovery.
Nijel8's and Chinese Modded are moderately good.
I have to say RedWolf, PB and OrangeFox are "ne'er-do-well" at the moment.
So, we hope a full reliable recovery...then we will get custom ROMs.

OrangeFox works perfect! New build yesterday...
Ok. I will see.
Early build could not install the "only one" custom rom (xiaomi.eu).

There is no need for custom roms. We already have Treble support.
More we need custom kernels.
Nothing to see here...

Hi guys. My Mi 5s Plus has a fake rom MIUI 8.0.8.0.0 Global Stable. I discovered that such version doesn't really excit. So my question is what should I do to have the official global stable version and have OTA updates, should I just download it from Xiaomi's website and install it or will I still don't have OTA updates?
Also, does sound come out from the both sides of the grill on the bottom or only from the right one on your Mi 5s Plus?
Thanks and happy new year to everyone
Download Rom from Official site, put it on Your Phone to folder "downloaded_rom", if U dont have it just create it and use updater in settings, it should work

Will try. Thanks
Hi pero93,
Would you please share result later, whether success or any issue.
Thanks
That worked for me without any issues. About the sound speaker - 5s only has one. The holes on the left are for the mic.
Same workaround on Mi5S?
Hi,
is that same procedure applicable for the 5S as well?

Hi,
Unfortunately, not working for me.
I think this needs the updater to have the 3 dots in the upper right corner to select the updater file.
I do not have those 3 dots
Any other suggestion ?
Regards.
[EDIT : the three dots disappeared because I switched DPI... I restored DPI and they came back. Did as was said here and... there I go : official ROM now ]

Highlight the link in code, and right click it, select "go to ..."

Hi kemtiq
This can not be confirmed until the official MIUI with Android Q release (if ever), that would be long after the stable version of Q release date.
GSI images are just the system, in order to interact with the underlying hardware, GSI system images need a compatible firmware (the vendor partition, provided by stock MIUI)
In the past I have experimented with several different system+vendor combinations, eg. Oreo MIUI vendor+phhson pie system. In this case there's a notice of updating Android on the first boot, and MTP doesn't work. I didn't test further, thinking the Oreo vendor must be incompatible with pie system, and switched to official pie MIUI vendor with pie system.
As a speculation, if Xiaomi didn't further develop q based MIUI for our phone, we will need someone to develop a working q vendor in order to get q system working.(and the security patches entirely relying on the third party developer)
That, IMHO, would be the same as developing a device specific third party ROM
The problem is, there aren't many people using this phone around on XDA, since this phone is neither a flagship, nor officially released outside China.
There is a recent spike in roms builts specifically for this device. Hopefully it will continue in future. So GSI isnt really needed right now. Rom links https://build.lolios.ml/sirius/ (mods please remove if not allowed to link external)

Glad to hear this. Could you please provide some info regarding VoLTE support in these ROMs?
Thanks in advance
Wow dude you literally made your XDA account to share the modifications (copy pasting links and text) you did to that wiki page.
And for the guy that was asking, Android Q GSI(Not the official one) boots on 8 SE
Not sure you gotta check

sadly thats the truth, lol...
AOSiP if you don't want Google or Xiaomi services on it.
Don't have much luck with any latest Xiaomi.eu roms.. latest stable 10 breaks gallery, latest 11 freezes the screen completely while on call occasionally.
I just want something useable for the least.
