Contacts application - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Hello,
I deleted the contacts application on LOS because I use another, but I deleted it without contacts so I had to reinstall it for the new applications to work, so I got it back APK here:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/linea...release/contacts-1-7-21-android-apk-download/
I wanted to know if these APKs are reliable or if there is a problem?
Thank you

The APKMirror website has been a very reliable source for obtaining apps.
I believe that it's probably the #1 "Go-To" website alternative for obtaining much needed/sought after apps (as opposed to the Source Developer).
I hope that I had put your mind at ease...
Good Luck!

Thank you for the help, so i have used "pm uninstall --user 0 com.uselessapp" to uninstall the apps, but when i use amaze i see the applications in app manager, do you think i can use amaze with root access to uninstall apps that i don't use, like browser, AOSP keyboard, contacts (i use another app to contacts), or i will have problems ?
For example i don't know if my new contacts app need another app contact for folders, etc

Yes, I think amaze can uninstall system apps. But after a ROM update the apps are back. Why don't you simply disable those apps?

This is a "very good point" @kurtn!
@Kantilo, @Kurtin is correct regarding the app's re-emergence after updating the Firmware.
I can only recommend, what I personally use, called "Root Uninstaller" from the following Play Store link (there's other very good apps that can do the same)...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.pro
... when I want to "Freeze/Disable" a System App. I rarely ever uninstall a system app exactly because of what you had experienced regarding so many dependencies for other apps that are tied to them.
Freezing/Disabling an app prevents the app from being used. It's almost as if the app is non existing (or seen as installed) on the device but, if other apps and such have some type of dependency tied to one or more of the files/directories of the Frozen/Disabled system app,it's still there and can be used.
I hope that I had explained this okay via text...

2) I have a thread on my handcent sms app nearly a thousand messages in strength, I'm now struggling to delete them without crashing (I can't delete 10 without a good two minutes wait or a crash). Any help or tips for deleting? Don't want to system wipe.

1) does the galaxy not use the default android sms app
2) try deleting data in sms storage (or messeges or whatever its called) in manage applications.
3) if you bought the app legally and not just paid for a membership to a warez site, you can contact the dev for the latest versions.

1)It does, but its been modified slightly, and black. Very nice looking.
2) Didn't work, done it many times, but thank you. Any other ideas? What about wiping cache etc? I don't mind, as long as I don't loose settings
3) Cool, thank you
Edit: Seemed to have sorted number 2, found a great app on the market called SMS Manager, must be knew because never could find it before. So if anyone has the editing sms app on the samsung galaxy, that would be lovely. Then we can close this thread

Twitter apps

are there any benefits for rooted user that use twitter? i just saw a app in the market called PeepApi (root Required ) i haven't downloaded it yet but made me think are there any cool Twitter apps out there for root users or developers here that made there own apps
thanks
The best twitter app is "twicca". I've been using it for about 2 years and nothing comes close. It was made by the Chinese so I guess that could explain why. I don't know why a twitter app would need root permissions unless it wanted to steal your account or info lol.

+1.....I don't understand why root permissions are necessary for use via a Twitter app. I am someone who tweets often and politically and there is no way in heck would I knowingly give a Twitter app root privileges.

[resolved] Samsung dive mobile tracker

EDIT: This is a lot better: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377918
Hey guys I need the samsung dive apk, please can someone give it to me? Thank you so much!

samsung dive apk? . You need to go to accounts & sync in the settings menu, create a samsung account then log into that account via your pc
www.samsungdive.com
I suppose you refer to this: http://download-apk.blogspot.com/2011/10/apk-default-samsung-galaxy-s2.html
Look for all the apk's related to Samsung Dive.
By the way, I read (I think around this forum) it is not possible to install apk's from stock room in AOSP custom roms, so if you have CyanogenMod or MIUI its probably not possible to go back to Samsung Dive. There are other options anyway .
Hope it helps.
I found a simillar app called Lmaxi anti theft.. you might want to check it out..
It has many interesting features such as it runs almost invisible on the phone (the app is only accessible from the dialler), remote lock via sms, HARD RESET PROTECTION (root), etc..

Strange ... if one take a look at this applications list of Permissions ... SMS and Location (GPS) are missing. How can this application send SMS and link to map with location without those permissions ???

ok i noticed that.. it probably need a paid version for those features to work.. because the app itself is just an installer not the actual apk, not sure what are the actual permissions it requires..
this one might be better

[APP] App Chooser, Default App Manager and Share Apps

I've come across 3 apps which are all about a better Android user experience and app management, they're all free to download from the Playstore; read on to find out more, screenshots and APK's attached at the bottom of this post.
I always wanted a way to restrict the number of options available to me in the 'Share Via' options of Android when sharing a photo or other file. Something perhaps a future rom could have?
For now theres a neat little App which does just that, AppChooser lets you choose which apps you want available to choose from when sharing a file.
Long press an app in the list to hide it from view, and future view
Click the arrow in the top right of the window and it shows two arrows. Now you can share the file via multiple methods.
Arrange available apps by frequency of use, name etc
It doesnt replace your existing 'Share Via' method, but you can set it as default so the Android method wont show in the future.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.noxi.apppicker
Coming on to default apps, I know of two ways of dealing with default apps, clear all defaults or go to each app individually to clear the default.
Default App Manager lets you view all you defaulted apps in one manageable list and also lets you see which apps you can set defaults for and set as appropriate. Very handy and saves alot of time.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appiator.defaultappmanager&hl=en
The final app i wanted to share is, well, Share Apps . Share Apps is something missing from my Nexus 4 and my current rom. Using Share Apps I can select a single app or multiple apps to share from an easy to use app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.theronrogers.shareapps&hl=en
All three apps are well made and require little to no permissions, so there's really nothing to loose. Give them a try and experience a better Android user experience. Click on the links above or download them directly from this post. :good:
Hit the thanks button if you've found this post useful :good: and be sure to show your support to the developers of these apps by leaving positive reviews
wow txz man
u rock man... .txz for the apps... :good:
Pity AppChooser is no longer available. Is this v2 the latest one?
Late enough, it works in kitkat on a galaxy s4.
Also, this thread is the only place I could find this app as a direct download. Other google hits download something to do with an egg, and then that wants to be an app store, and then maybe you'd find this app.

I've seen posts that say the Dev ended support for the app in 2012. Given that this thread is from 2013 I'm hopeful it's the final build, but I haven't looked very hard.
It works OK on my phone with 4.2.2, but there doesn't seem to be a way to set it as the default app for the share action as described in several blogs. Any ideas on that?
It's not what Google would want me to do, but I had to. Couldn't find App Chooser, and Andmade doesn't work with my Lolliop gallery. My preferred app for sharing photos was "below the fold" in the Share with options in Gallery. So, I uninstalled Google Plus and Hangouts, which is what it took to get my preferred app to appear. You go to Settings, Apps, Uninstall Updates and then Disabled.
Thank you @Wezi for the post. It actually helped me around to find AppChooser Pro 2.0.0. I have downloaded it through Aptoide and happily using it on my LG G3 D850 (AT&T) with Candy5 5.1.1.
Anybody want to try, kindly download it from Aptoide. I tried sharing link for file on Dropbox but as I am new to the forum, I am not allowed to post external link as per the policy. Once I shall be allowed to do so, I will share the link. You are welcome to PM me and will share the same.
Enjoy!

Question Clone app not supported by stock clone app function?

I want to clone an app to have two instances with different logins, but the app is not in the list of specific apps supported by the standard app cloning feature of OOS 12. What is the best way to clone an app in general on One Plus 9 Pro?
Thanks

There are so many Parallel Space apps on Google Play. LBE Tech has 9 similar products on Google Play. Which one should I use?

I tried using aurora store, but on OOS12 it's not allowed to grant all permissions required (i don't know the 3 required permissions full name, so i changed approach)
uninstalled aurora store, moved a copy of playstore already installed to pc
repeating the procedure installing this apk
i have been able to loging, not tried to install any app, but launching whats app from store clkne, triggers whatsapp clone, so i think it will work also for other stufs

I used the one I linked specifically and never had issues with it.
another option is installing "insland" from playstore or "insular" from fdroid,
not tried "shelther" but should work the same
basically as for all other custom rom (avoiding the OOB parallel apps)

These "cloning" apps arent really true cloning apps. They create a copy and run it within a sanbox so to speak. Honestly I wouldnt use them for anything sensitive like banking apps. Personally I use "App Cloner" - appcloner.app (that's a URL) it creates a true clone that has it's own icon within your app drawer. There are tons of settings to customize how the clone performs being that it resides along side the cloned app. Been using it for years to separate business accounts from personal accounts like AMEX and BoA.
