I can't flash any stock fastboot rom with EDL Mode by "test point" method, trying to flash with mi flash or qfil doesn't help.
EDIT: solved the problem by using MiFlash(64-bit)
You can find the 64-bit version here

Disable the "Disable driver signature enforcement" from Windows Advanced Startup before using the program

Guys, thought I understood this as I've successfuly used SP Flash tool with previous devices but I'm going round in circles.
I've installed the Mediatek driver package so the preloader is installed.
When I try and flash Philz recovery via SP Flashtool I hit download, connect the P8000 then get an error "Brom error: s_com_port_open_fail (1013)
What am I doing wrong.
On the phone I have gone through the following :
SuperSU is installed
I've enabled developer options
I've then gone to OEM unlocking and at the prompt have clicked enable to the "Allow OEM unlocking"
I then switched off the phone and tried using flashtool as above.
I don;t know what to do next?
Sorry to be a pain.
Mike
What package for flashing have you downloaded and have you made sure to chose the correct .scatter file? How does it look in Device manager when you connect the phone via USB when it's turned off?
I would GUESS it's incorrect flash file or incorrectly installed drivers...
Thanks, I've done some more digging.
I've installed the mediatek driver package. I switch off the phone (power off).
When I connect the phone with device manager open the preloader driver appears under com ports (no yellow exclamation mark) for about 2 seconds. At that point the phone enters charging mode (large battery comes up on screen) and at the same time the preloader entry vanished from device manager.
Solved my own problem in the end - it would seem I was using an old version of the flash tool.
New version installed the recovery instantly.

Nice to hear! THanks for the feedback
Can you post a link to the scatterfile and other necessary files?
Hi,
Can you post a link to the scatterfile and other necessary files please?
Thanks in advance.
The .scatter files are inside the zip you download
flashed global rom on a "note 5 pro" and it's bricked.
I tried flashing all whyred roms (stable, china, dev, global ....) after successful flash I can never boot.
That means I tried literally every rom from the following list:
https://en.miui.com/thread-2340434-1-1.html
and I can't boot the device after flashing.
Something interesting happened, I tried flashing "wayne" china rom, device can boot - I get fastboot with robot logo with a message "press any key to shutdown".
So how come when I flash whyred roms on a SD636 I can't boot, but when I flash wayne images I can boot to fastboot mode "press any key to shutdown"?
At the end which rom can I use to unbrick my device?
1) what is that wayne images ? :silly:
2) what is your ARB code ?
and
" I get fastboot with robot logo with a message "press any key to shutdown"
I was getting this message too hence unable to flash TWRP.
The solution worked for me was the use of USB 2.0 !!! :silly:
once TWRP is flashed you can try each n every rom present in xda forum
1. After I flash this image via EDL mode (Qualcomm 9008) http://bigota.d.miui.com/8.8.23/wayne_images_8.8.23_20180823.0000.00_8.1_cn_8f053946e3.tgz I can boot and I get "press any key to shutdown"
2. It's not possible to read the ARB code because I can only enter EDL mode or Fastboot but I get "press any key to shutdown", so no connection either.
I have 4 usb ports on my pc, they're all 3.0. Can't disable xHCI in Bios.
I guess I have to buy old usb 2.0 hub.
Flash stock rom using xiaomi flash too in edl ..
If edl fails flash using the same tool in fastboot mod ..

try to flash fastboot rom using Mi-flash tool in fastboot mode.
I don't have fastboot or recovery.
Flashing stock roms doesn't work. I get "can not read from port COM xy" every time.
If I put the programmer's file prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf in stock rom's images directory then I can flash, but the phone doesn't boot afterwards.
If I try to flash another wrong rom, for example wayne which is for another snapdragon model,
if I put the same file prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf in this directory wayne_images_8.8.23_20180823.0000.00_8.1_cn/images I can boot only in fastboot but I can't connect to PC because it's the fastboot mode for another telephone., not for redmi note 5 pro
So, a few months ago I rooted my device with twrp and then installed magisk manager... A few days later the manager stopped working and I got tired of not being able do do nothing so I tried to unroot. I used mi flash to flash the daisy rom and it didn't work so I tried to load to the twrp app and flash through there. Didn't work either. From then on every time I boot the device it shows the message "the system has been destroyed" and Bc of that I searched for solutions. I kinda found one. I boot to fastboot mode and with the platform tools I write on the command line ". /fastboot devices" and then it shows my device. After I write ". /fastboot boot continue" and it starts booting the device and it has worked for like 2 months but 2 days ago I had to reboot my device Bc it started to freeze but when I load to fastboot mode and plug it to the pc it show a prompt saying "the device is not recognized" and the device reboots to the message "system has been destroyed". Pls help, I've searched everywhere and didn't find any solution
Are you have your bootloader unlocked? I guess no, the most "easy" solution for your problem is test point , never fail, you need to download Qualcomm drivers (search in Google) open your device connect your device, your phone need to be recognized like 9008 in manager drivers of your PC then flash stock room in mi flash (flash all option) my recommendation is flash 10.0.13.0 or 10.0.18 version of stock rom, good luck.

you are trying to get to edl mode by typing command "fastboot oem edl" when phone is in fastboot?
Hello,
I'm using Redmi Note 5 pro. Recently my device went on boot loop. Whenever I tried to restart, it was showing MI Logo for long time, nothing happens. I'm not able to enter into recovery mode as well (Vol Up + Power). But I can go to Fastboot mode (Vol down + power key).
Mine is not bootloader unlocked and I dont think I have enabled OEM Unlocking from the settings.
I tried downloading the ROM from below URL (Rom for Fastboot flash) -> whyred_global_images_V11.0.3.0.PEIMIXM_20191108.0000.00_9.0_global
http://c.mi.com/in/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
http://update.miui.com/updates/v1/fullromdownload.php?d=whyred_global&b=F&r=global&n=
When I check, whether the fastboot devices is showing mine or not, I can see my device listed
In another forum, I can across this, before flashing using MiFlash, they asked to download the Edl.cmd file from the below link and run it. I did that as well.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../guide-how-to-reboot-to-edl-fastboot-t3394292
After that, when I select the downloaded ROM, and try to flash it with MiFlash (v2019.12.6.0), it keep showing the below line. but its not getting errored out. progress bar keeps going till the end but it stays with the below status. Attached the screenshot as well.
fastboot %* getvar product 2>&1 | findstr /r /c:"^product: *whyred" || echo Missmatching image and device
Any help with will be much helpful! Thanks in advance!
I think flashing via fastboot on unlocked bootloader is not possible
Hi, you mean locked bootloader is not possible?
If yes, is there a way to fix the phone?
Thanks in advance!

The way i see is Edl flash mode (wait for a proper answer)
I accidentally locked my chinese whyred while flashing global rom using miflash.
The only thing that worked for me was EDL flash chinese rom using QFIL following the tutorial here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/fix-arb-bricked-device-qfil-t3841780
I had to use chinese rom for 360 hours until I could unlock the bootloader again.
You need to flash the rom version that matches your device origin (global, china, india, russia, etc..)

Hello, Thanks for letting me know about this method. I tried this but I'm not able to find my devices showing in Device Manager as "qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008" (I'm trying with fastboot mode as am not able to go to Recovery mode)
I tried installing the Qualcomm QDLoader 9008 driver using the method shown in the below link
https://www.99mediasector.com/install-qualcomm-hs-usb-qdloader-9008-install/
1. tried direct installation of exe - didn't work)
2. there was manual method which asked me to reboot in edl mode using the command fastboot oem edl - but this shows error saying FAILED (remote: 'Device is already locked!')
//attached screenshot for reference
Thanks!

You're in fastboot. not EDL mode.
EDL Testpoint - https://youtu.be/dYVR5BgNwG0
Connect the usb cable to both phone and pc, disconnect the battery flex cable, short the two EDL testpoint, and connect the battery flex cable. it will take some practice.
Also, there is a limited time in EDL mode to start flashing, if you too late you will have to repeat again.
Use this tutorial https://youtu.be/ikGsxf_s-zw
It seems shorting pins and edl flashing is the only way for reviving ur phone pal
Good luck
stuck in bootloop after applying Konabees driver config. Now I'm stuck in boot menu with nothing.
adb commands comes with whenever I'm trying something fastboot mode.
"error: no devices/emulators found"
Project Elixir recovery mode is available in slot b but can's seems to do anything. any help regarding how to fix the loop and install twrp and rom would be appreciated.
Get TWRP or OrangeFox from their official site
Get SDK Platform Tools from official Google Dev site
Install Android USB driver from Mi Flash or from Windows Update "Optional drivers"
"fastboot boot twrp.img"
Reflash ROM without Data-Format. If it doesn't boot, you have to format data.
BTW, is the Adreno driver a Magisk Module? Magisk Modules can be removed by deleting its folder in /data/adb/modules/*
Thanks for the quick reply. It worked, needed to format data sadly.
