Animations sped up - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Most animations on the phone seem to almost happen instantly. The YouTube loading dots spin stupidly fast, the home buttons animation happens instantly, and when I slide apps off in the app drawer, they just disappear without sliding away. The animation speed in Dev options is set to 1, and changing it to .5 doesn't seem to change it.

Click to collapse
Change them to 2 if you want slower animation speed

Turn them off, that is what I do.

half blank home screen???

okay so I've had this problem a few times on 2 different G2s
not sure what happens but the phone seems to trick it's self into thinking its still in landscape mode even though its in portrait and I end up with a black screen though I can see the notification bar and can even drag it down and see it so I know the screen isn't turning off and if I open the keyboard i can only see the very right side of the screen or what would be the bottom if it were in portrait mode yet the notification bar seems to work. It usually happens when I close the keyboard. It's not a huge problem as I can just hold the power button down to bring up the "power down, airplane mode, silent mode" screen up and that fixes it. I managed to get it to happen and was able to grab some screen shots. Anybody else have this problem?
I used to see that same issue on my G1 with ADW Launcher installed
ya it happens to me using the adw launcher... i think it is just a rendering issue. also if you use adw launcher you notice the pull down shade doesn't cover the very top when pulled down? just launcher glitches still runs like a champ now that i use temp root. beautiful thing about temp root is that unlike the g1 you don't have to reboot this thing every 8 hrs lol.... i do it just cause i feel like i'm still using my g1.. autostart kills all those damn google apps that run. setcpu is running great. no oc obviously but now you can throttle it... wireless tether plus they have it on a 3 click apk that you can use. SDk/adb knowledge needed though for it...

[Q] Cyanogenmod 7.1 Animation (On/Off) fix?

I was messing around with my screens density earlier when I found that on Cyanogenmod 7.1 if your screen density is 100 (Or below?), the Screen on/off animation actually shows. However, you cannot access ANY of your settings. Whatever app you try, the settings will force close.
So. Just wondered, is there a workaround for this? (Or a fix for 7.1?) Because the TV off and On style is actually amazing.
The on/off animation is really weird in CM7 for our wildfires.
For me it seems to sometimes play and then other times it never shows.
I have never played around with the screen density to see how it affects the animation but I assume there is some other factor that is changing whether it is seen or not.
I noticed that one day I was charging my phone and the off animation worked (I didn't have the on animation set to play so that wasn't a factor) and then when I turned the charger off it stopped doing it. But now when I charge it it doesn't show the animation...
Well, I know for a fact it is there.
There are several things backing it up.
1) When you lock the phone, the soft key lights don't dim until the animation would have finished.
2) The lockscreen does not show straight away. Try it, lock the phone then QUICKLY unlock it, the unlock screen wouldn't have appeared straight away because the phone is still doing the animation...
I just wish there was a way to trick it without messing up the phones settings...
Also. Another strange thing. It only seemed to switch on the animation on/off when I used an app to modify the density. When I tried manually modifying it, I couldn't access settings still, nor would the animations show...

Galaxy S3 i747m HOMESCREEN BUG..

I realized that the homescreen has some bugs especially if you disable the lock screen from settings..
It happened a few time in the past few days..
When I click the home button, the device is on, and I do not need to unlock it since the lockscreen is disabled.
Sometimes, after turning the phone screen on, all my homescreen widgets and the bottom shortcut bar(phone, contact, message, menu) would start to flashing like crazy...
The phone is still responsive, e.g. opening menus, change settings, top menu bar still slides down and up fine, everything is fine operationally except for the flashing widgets and bottom shortcuts..
I turned the screen off and back on, same flashing is present..
I have to power off the phone or restart the phone and it will return back to normal..
I believe this is definitely a software bug... Anyone familiar with this bug?
Are you running stock or are you rooted with a custom recovery?

UPDATE:
Also I found out exactly what is triggering this issue..
It has to do with the Developers Options under the Do Not Keep Activities and Background Process Limit..
I am experiencing this issue only when I tick Do Not Keep Activities, and set the Background Process Limit to No Background Process...
Also, today another issue showed up with the same 2 settings ticked Do Not Keep Activities, and set the Background Process Limit to No Background Process.
Basically what it happened is that when I turn on my phone, and open windows such as messages and settings, the phone would automatically attempt to close it down after 2-3 seconds... Also due this time, I received a message, my message tone changed back to the bird chirp default message tone rather than the Pure Bell message tone I setup previously.. When I manage to open the sound settings, I took a quick look and it was still set to Pure Bell, and after a second or so, the phone closed the entire settings window down...
I just press hole the power and click on Restart...
Now the phone reboots, and the phone is back to normal...
When I went back to sound settings, all my own settings are still there
BUT
When I went to the Developer Options, the setting for Do Not Keep Activities, and Background Process Limit where back to the default values.. (Do Not Keep Activities is not UNTICKED, and Background Process Limit is set to Standard Limit automatically by my phone after the reboot.)
I thought it was weird how the phone changed my settings after reboot, and the OS acts weird before I rebooted...
After using it through out today with the default settings for Do Not Keep Activities, and the Background Process Limit, my phone is acting fine.....
Pretty sure this is a SW bug, it is not a HW problem..
I think it did exactly what it should do with those developer options enabled. That was a very aggressive setting use used and does not represent normal operation of the software.

So this is a known issue?
Yes, pretty much Developer Options are pretty unstable...
The only setting I kept for are Mock Location (for those apps that use GPS without my permission) and the Animation options to 0.5x so the animation is faster.
Turning the Mock Location and Changing Animation Settings do not seem to affect the stability of the Stock ROM
Why on earth would anyone with a phone this powerful want to use those two options anyways!? I would say yes u have those problems with those options on... you have plenty of resources so don't do that to your phone and yes those are "developer options" and typically only temporary testing scenarios for "developers" just leave at default and be happy with much better working phone!

I use those 2 memory clearing options just to extend battery life.

[Q] Black screen between window animations

What's up there everybody!
I love scaling all Android's animations in Developers Options to 2x, as I found 1x simply too fast and not as eye catching as 2x. However there is a strange bug that happens between animations (it also happens if they are set at 0.5x, 1x no matter).
Suppose you are in the home screen and press Chrome. You realize "Oh noes, I wanted to tap Messages". You click the home button to get back while the animation is playing. What happens? An ugly flashing black screen is displayed, as the result of a forced animation end, and chrome fades out normally after that. I don't know if I described it properly.
So, in short: Animation starts but doesn't finish, you stop it ---> Instant flashing black screen, window gets instantly maxed out, black screen again ---> window fades out normally.
It happens whenever you interrupt an animation by pressing the home button. It is pretty ugly on 2x since animations last a little longer. In 1x you hardly notice it, only if you are pretty fast, even harder to notice in 0.5x of course, since the animation becomes shorter. No need to say with no animation this ugly crap doesn't happen.
It also happens if I navigate through settings too fast, it is INCREDIBLY ugly, and many people stare at the screen like it is broken when this happens, showing me that their Iphones don't do this LOL. If anyone could suggest me a way to record the screen (as I don't own any other phone/camera right now) to better explain the problem in case it is not clear enough, I will be glad to.
Is there any way to fix this?
My situation is:
Stock Samsung Rom 4.1.2 latest ITA
Neak Kernel 1.8 Undervolted etc...
Rooted of course
TWRP
To be fair, I didn't pay attention to it, neither in CM10.1 neither in any other custom roms I tried, so I can't say whether it is TouchWizz's bug or Android's bug
Thanks in advance!
Anyone? =(

[Q] Lockscreen shortcuts seem to be missing...

Alright, so I was setting up my ls990 and during the setup of everything (apps/widgets/screens/you know) I managed, or perhaps my phone managed, to simply stop displaying lock screen shortcuts. I know what you may be thinking, no, there are no passwords, knock codes, pins, locks, mods, extras, or anything that *could* cause this.
It's a simple swipe to unlock, that's it, there are shortcuts 'set' in the lock screen settings as you'd expect, but no matter what fiddling, swiping, or press-and-holding I try will bring them back. Every last combination of settings and lock screen fidgeting and 'oops I deleted the default circle lock screen widget thingy but found out how to bring it back and also learned how to set the default lock screen page that will show when I turn the screen on'-ing will make them show again... So after on and off and mostly on playing around with it over the last 10 hours or so, and seeing how it is now 5 am where I live, and certainly the tunnel vision has set in or I'm just plain ol' dumb and/or incapable of swiping my own buttons, I'd figure that somewhere in the population of LG g3 owning & xda browsing intelligental(wo)mens there could be somebody to set my plain ol' dumb button pushing straight.
Any ideas?
Posting on the chrome browser from my nifty ls990 via my Wi-Fi connection, tanks.
Well anything? Need smart people please, I'll consider this a bump.
Do you see the Emergency Call box at the bottom? I just had that same issue, and it appeared to be triggered by a lack of signal or going into roaming mode. Setting the device into Airplane Mode brought the shortcuts back for me. Here's exactly what I did:
1. Set the device into Airplane Mode (I used the shortcut from the notification shade).
2. Lock the device.
3. Hit the power button to bring up the lock screen. Verified shortcuts were there.
4. Shut off Airplane Mode (once again, used shortcut).
Let me know if that works...
