Hey all - looking for an SMS/MMS app that when I put in multiple recipients and then hit send, it will ask me "send as group message/MMS/a chat" or "send as individual messages" something like that.
I know that most will let me change the option in their settings, but I think the option above would be better suited to my needs. Just a hassle to go make the change every thing I want to send a single message in one method of the other.
Anyone know of such and app? Or maybe if IFTTT, or some other automation app would work?
Thanks in advance!

Is there a to have messages count as "read" (i.e. decrement the messages waiting counter) when using the touchflo preview screen. You can scan through messiges when thery are still in the envelope this doesn't change the new message counter, you actually have to open the message to reset the counter. I'd like to have messages count as read when I flip through them in their envelope rather than having to open spam messages that I dont want to read.
That would be nice. Or be able to delete from the mail tab. Right now, so I don't have to open spam, I hit inbox and then hold down on the message until I get the delete option (if it is at top of inbox, you can just hit delete softkey). Anybody else have a better way or an idea for a hack like mentioned?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379265 you can put "mark all as read' with this .cab
Edit: noticed you said flip through them :/ i would like to do that also
Yes. I like that cab as well, but it would be cool to have more functionality from the mail tab, without having to open inbox. Right now when you hit menu, you have 3 options (New Mail, Accounts, Send/Receive). It would be awesome to get Delete, Mark As Read, Reply, Forward, etc.

I second this request. PLEASE, if someone could develop a tweak, cab, add on, etc that would add all or some of these features. I guess this is directed at HTC, carriers, and/or xda cooks. TIA to anyone who gits 'er dun
hi! i'm a recent buyer of rhodium... a question: it's possible to send the same message directly to a group of contacts? i don't think so... hi!
Click "To:" and you can add a person in.... i believe you can only add one person at a time, but you can send to multiples.
If someone knows how to drop multiple people in the "To:" field at once, I would like to know.
On the sprint 6.5 stock ROM, if you open "All People" (under "People") along the bottom are 5 categories : All, Favorites, Groups, Updates and Events, and Call History. If you select "groups", you can permanently assign many groups. Once a group is created it is saved and you can select it and easily send a text to any or all of the people in that group (there is a checkbox next to each contact). Hope this helps!

Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was a Inc 1 user and asked a few times for this but it was like no one understood what i was asking for. i was wondering if its possible or if a developer would take the challenge of altering the stock sms/mms apk so that a preview of the message doesnt show up in the notification bar. I know Go SMS and Handcent have the option of showing "new message recieved" instead of showing the text contents in a privacy setting but i would like to keep the stock messaging app. puhlease someone. it would be greatly appreciated....

not so sure what u mean, or if it's possible, why not try handcent or go sms? I know u want stock, but may be the only way,
If you go under Settings>Privacy, it gives you 1 or 2 options. I'm not so sure since I'm using newtoroot's Sense 3.5 ROM and that may or may not be different from what you're using. (yes, I'm advertising a Rom, and yes, you should totally go for this rom.)
Handcent SMS does this. You can disable the preview per contact or just in general. You would disable the notifications in your normal SMS app and then set it so that Handcent is the only app that does notifications for SMS and if you disable the preview feature, it will just say "XXX-XXX-XXXX text you" or something like that
I've used handcent and am currently go sms. Was just curious if there was a way to do it for the stock. Guess it cant be done.

Is there any good app out there for sending my business card info, or just sending my contact info to someone rather than having to type it all out. I am on the go alot and I plug peoples numbers in and would love to be able to just shoot them over my selected contact info through like SMS. But doesn't seem to be anything out there to do that. I found one app, but only info it will send is Name - Number - Email. I want something that will send all the info in the contact info of my phone, including my website etc... The app I found which is very limited and I don't like is called "Share Contacts Via SMS"
Thanks
bump it up
I use Handcent for many features including this one. You can attach a contact as a vCard or plain text, and you get a checkbox next to each item to include (numbers, emails, addresses, photo). Can't believe this isn't in the stock app!
If you do this a lot and the problem is just re-typing it, you can create and save a template with this info. In the stock SMS app, go to Menu->Settings->Templates. The icon in the upper right will let you create and save a template. Then when you are in the conversation/new message screen, Menu->Insert Template, pick the one you made.
But I would also recommend checking out handcent. I don't use this feature but it's a great app that packs a lot of good stuff.

This is in the stock Messaging app? If so, I don't see anything regarding templates.
Yeah, I don't see this template option in the stock messaging app. And I don't want to use handcent. Any other suggestions

Oh? I have a themed version of the stock app installed, though I stopped using it a while ago myself in favor of handcent. Perhaps the capability was added in by the person who themed it. I know his version of the dialer adds t9 dialing, but there's no note of added functionality on the mms link.
If you like or just don't mind the theme, the one I have is here.
Hello,
Sorry if this question sounds a bit... dumb... but I cant find a way to send an sms to multiple recipients.
I come from sgs2 where i could select as many recipients from my contacts as I wanted but in galaxy nexus stock sms app I cant find a way to do that. I have to type the first letters and then my contacts appear.
Is there a way that i missed ??
I'm afraid there isn't any way to access your "list" of contacts and just check/uncheck boxes to send messages to that particular group of people. You have to type out their name/number in the "to" field. But I know a handful of 3rd party texting apps that allow you to do this, handcent comes to mind... GoSMS maybe?
Create a new sms then type some until you can Select one of the numbers, after that at the end of the number and name of the contact you will see a ", " touch the screen there and type some after the ", " and Select the second contact and so on, or download ex dialer wich have way more features and options than stock gapps, exdialer its free and works great thats what i use

Thanks for your replies guys. I've never used 3rd party sms/dialer programs but i'll do now.
