Help - Soft bricked brand new Z2 Force (XT1789-06) - Moto Z2 Force Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I just recently bought a Z2 Force EU model (XT1789-06) and thought i better get it unlocked and rooted a.s.a.p.
The first order of work was to boot it up and perform an update to the latest updates available (November 2018, IIRC).
Following the update and after making sure there weren't any more updates, i proceeded to unlock the bootloader using the official Motorola method and it was successful.
I then copied over SuperSU-v2.82.zip to storage and downloaded twrp-3.2.3-2-nash.img to my PC.
I followed this guide in order to run TWRP and root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-force/how-to/oreo-nougat-how-to-root-z2-t3756669
After installing SuperSU and rebooting the phone, the Motorola logo was displayed and stayed there for a while. I remembered the verbose logs after installing SuperSU syaing that first boot could take a long time.
I didn't risk rushing anything so i left the phone and planned on picking up where i left off the next day. It has now been 14 hours since the phone rebooted and it is still stuck at the Motorola logo.
I have tried to power it down by holding the power key but that does not work. I could only force it to react by holding down vol down + pwr button, then doing the same again to enter the bootloader.
I then tried to do a factory reset by performing the following:
vol down + pwr button > select recovery mode > hold pwr 2 seconds then vol up > Wipe data/factory reset > reboot
I am now back to a stuck boot procedure at the Motorola logo I did some more reading and found many threads explaining the procedure and what to look out for.
It seems like my safest bet now is to avoid SuperSU and install Magisk instead. However, before I attempt to root again, I would like to have the phone boot up normally again.
Would a kind sould please point me in the right direction of a guide that can help me out of this mess?
Please note, I am already using the latest software update version.
EDIT: Software is 8.0.0/OPXS27.109-34-17

fastboot --set-active=other
fastboot reboot
Take the update again then flash magisk after rebooting from the update.
What happens? You are swapping slots back to a working bootable slot, then updating to the latest update to fix the broken slot. Once it is fixed, follow the rooting procedure and flash magisk 16.7 or higher in TWRP and reboot. (Be sure to fastboot boot TWRP and not flash)

Cannot enter recovery mode

Hey All,
I have recently rooted my Xperia T2 with hopes of entering the wonderful world of customization. However, I cannot enter recovery mode at all. I have exhausted Google looking for a solution prior to registering here. I have tried everything from downloading apps such as Quick Boot to connecting to PC and trying the adb command ''adb reboot recovery'' and ''adb reboot-bootloader'' and of course I have tried the obvious of turning off the phone and then powering back on while holding the power button and volume up key at the same time. Performing that action shows the phone powering on with the Sony screen followed by a black screen where the phone vibrates 3 times and will continue in this loop if I don't release the keys, If I do release them the phone just starts normally. In all cases, that is is what is happening, the phone restarts and boots normally.
I have checked that everything is OK with the rooting that I did via the app Root Checker and and checked bootloader unlocked status via the command ''*#*#7378423#*#*''.
So, there you have it and I just can't understand why I can't enter the recovery mode. My main goal for the moment is to free up some RAM by doing the Link2SD method but without getting into the recovery mode, that seems hopeless.
Hopefully someone here can advise me.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
I can't enter recovery mode too... also already unlocked my bootloader but recovery still unacessible.
See what I did:
(DONE) - Unlocked my bootloader;
(FAIL) - Tryed to root by using KingRoot (2 differrent versions, one that I saw in a tutorial and the newer version - cause I'm using the newer T2 Ultra firmware)
(FAIL) - Tryed to install a custom recovery and as a gift, my T2 started an infinite bootloop.
(DONE) - Fix the boot loop problem...;
(FAIL) - Enter recovery mode and flash a Pre Rooted Firmware;
(DONE) - Searching how to flash a custom recovery again...
(DONE) - Installed a custom recovery (TWRP)...
Now I have another problem... wen a I try to turn It on, It only goes to recovery, and the notification led blinks red and then purple. There's anything I can do to fix It?
The very same problem i am facing now
I wanted to upgrade to higher version of lollipop but not able to get in recovery mode though i have already rooted n installed NDR utils BUT not able to get in recovery mode even via app
Any one who can help US OUT ?? !
I have same problem i can't enter to recovery mode by hold power button and volume + or volume - i try a lot of other combinaison but it doesn't work , help us thanks
I know it's too late for a reply but if u still wandering for how to flash a custom recovery first you need to install one as our Sony phones doesn't come with stock recoveries as mtk and Samsung devices have. Now go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/t2-ultra/development/t2-ultra-xzdualrecovery-qa-t2823793 for Complete tutorial on flashing and downloading a custom recovery. I have installed it with no errors

H815 stuck in bootloop, no download mode or recovery

Hello,
I unlocked the bootloader on my LG G4, flashed TWRP and then using TWRP flashed a SuperSU plus a new bootloader for Android M along with the Android M system etc...
The phone is now stuck in a bootloop.
I can no longer get in to TWRP and can get into download mode very briefly before the phone reboots again. My PC can not detect the phone at all.
Can anyone help? Have a feeling I've hard bricked the phone
Thanks, Ben

Hello Everyone. Someone has got news? Cause my lg g4 stuck on the same issue.
I unlock bootloader and try to install twrp. Via fastboot flash command twrp doesn't seem to get installed. So i try to boot in twrp and then install the img to the recovery partition. All seemed to go fine. When i try to reboot to recovery twrp ask me to root the device. Why not? I leave twrp installs superSu (I think this was my mistake). Now I've a continuous bootloop, even if I simply plug it to the charger. Vol down + Power buttons neither vol up + power doesn't work.
Sorry for bad english
I think one way is to disconnect the battery by disassembling the phone(check Google), then reconnect it and boot to recovery using the correct key combinations. I hope it works. It worked for me.
Install the LGUP tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803
Install both file.
Download the kdz files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64298942&postcount=6
This V20A MM, for 5.1 or v20b you have to search.
Power down your phone.
Push and hold Volume Up and then plug the phone via USB to your PC.
The Phone enter the download mode.
Start LGUP, select the KDZ file.
If you choose "upgrade" all data will be obtain, if you choose "refurbish" all data will be lost.
I suggest "refurbish" because for me "upgrade" dont work without fc and system carshes.
Wait around 5 minutes and your G4 is back with MM, clean and fresh.
Thanks hannsheinz for the reply.
I solved this night in this way (very similar to your suggestion):
- I downloaded and installed LG Bridge from the official website.
- I pull out the battery to power off the device.
- I reinsert the battery in the device, without power it on.
- I plug in the usb while pressing volume up button.
- The device entered the download mode and LG Bridge recognized it.
- I press "update error recovery" in Lg Bridge (bottom right in the Software update tab).
- The procedure will take a while according to your pc and internet connection.
- At the end my G4 "breathed again and still breathing"
Very similar to what hannsheinz suggested.
Thanks to all

Phone stuck on "Entering Recovery". Help!!!

Hello folks,
I had an old HTC one M8 running android kitkat. I've rooted my phone using kingo root app then installed flashify. I downloaded the latest TWRP 3.1 and also ensure that the version was correct for the device. After installing the img file using flashify my phone restarted and stuck with a dialogue saying "Entering Recovery". I've gone through a similar post where a senior member said to hold the power button until it reboot up. That method is not working for me.
I would highly appreciate and be pleased if anyone can help me out.
Is your bootloader locked? If so, that isn't the proper procedure for installing TWRP on this device. You can't install custom recovery on this device, unless you first unlock the bootloader.
Hold power+ vol up to force a reboot (may need to hold the buttons for a minute or so in a "stuck" condition). Once the screen goes dark indicating a reboot, let go of the buttons, and only hold vol down, until you see the bootloader screen. From there, if the bootloader is locked, unlock it using the HTCDev.com process, then wipe cache and flash TWRP with fastboot.

Stuck :( TWRP flashing screen

So I was trying to install TWRP on my phone. I have a Mac and was looking at some online guide. I had a pin set-up, and this is what I did:
1. Installed ADB and fast boot
2. Unlocked the boot loader on the phone
3. Check the terminal commands that the device is connected correctly
4. Had the ABD and TWRP img files on the phone.
5. Tried to fast boot TWRP.
What is happening now is that I'm stuck on a boot loop of a TWRP screen, the screen if flashing and won't load. I'm guessing to let the battery die out over night
I was looking at a few threads and some say that I should flash the factory image. Everyone is saying flash the stock file... However, I can't even get the phone to turn off or go back into bootload mode for my computer to recognize the phone.
Any tips?
Hold volume down and the power button down. Keep it held down might take sometime but you should get to the loader. boot twrpRC1 flash rc2 after getting in twrp. You could also start fresh by fishing factory once you get back to bootloader
Long press power button to shut it off
or press power button and vol down together and will take you to fatsboot mode and from there you can use volume button to seltect bootloader or recovery
I don't do pin's so I'm not familiar with the hangups involved with those and TWRP.
But I guess the first thing I'd do is remove the pin lock.
Then power down phone.
Wait 30 seconds!!!!!
Press power + volume down until phone powers on, then let go.
Should boot right into bootloader.
Fastboot boot twrp.
Install TWRP from the fastbooted TWRP.
I'm not familiar with the Mac process but on a PC we need to fastboot into TWRP from an image file on our computer first, and then flash the file on the phone.
I recommend keeping a copy of the boot signer on your device, flashing this fixes most of these types of issues I have found, especially with new rom upgrades etc.
Did you let the phone fully boot into the system after unlocking the bootloader, or did you immediately try and boot twrp?
I've had this problem twice before, both after a fastboot unlock, and I had to let it fully boot into the system before proceeding

Thank you you too. That was the problem, my patience. I didn't hold it down long enough for it to boot back into boot loader mode.

Hey I think that was it. I immediately tried to boot twrp without letting the system fully boot.
Thanks you all for the support. Go XDA!
The first question everyone should be asking is if OP was on the O Beta previously.. If that is the case Op needs to flash the factory image in both slots.
Put phone into the bootloader
Flash all bat
Put phone into the bootloader
fastboot --set-active=other
fastboot reboot bootloader
flash all bat
fastboot boot twrp
Even if OP wasnt on the O beta, this should fix the issue.
After successfully flashing Oreo, I am seeing the same flashing/looping TWRP (twrp-3.0.2-0-RC1).
Long press of Pwr restarted the phone.
Rinsed & repeat a few times.
Any thoughts to flash TWRP (temporarily)?

Success. Thank you!

Oneplus 5t dead after update.

Hey
I installed the recent upgrade to my OP 5T and now the phone is not getting switched on, only the 1+ logo appears on pressing the power button and soon after it gets switched off.
I have tried the 'Volume Up + Power' button combination and fastloader screen appears, i tried to enter recovery mode but it just gets switched off after the 1+ logo when i select recovery mode.
OP5T_Unbrick_tool_dumpling ... not working:
The battery is getting charged normally and this is an android upgrade issue. I am a newbie, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
A possibility could be that you tried to do stock update local method through twrp or custom recovery... That's similar to what happened on mine when I did that on the first beta 10 update. If so I flashed latest stock recovery through the fastboot menu by plugging into computer and using ADB fastboot command "fastboot flash recovery" minus brackets and dragged the recovery over and pressed enter.
It appears to do it as the update launched some sort of boot script but can't be carried out without stock recovery leading to a sort of boot loop.
Also I found while trying to fix this if I updated from a ROM where it didn't have treble support or wiped the vendor (I did when panicking lol). I had to firstly install the stock ROM that introduced treble then install the beta 10 update.
Sorry if that was all pointless or irellivent but hope you get ur problem fixed soon.
