There's static in the headphone audio. It's worse or better on various kernels. The speaker audio doesn't have any static.

popping noise from speakers

Wondering if anyone is also getting popping noises from speakers? Happens when watching you tube videos right after the video stops it makes a popping noise. Also makes it when I shutdown device. Up to date with latest software.
Hi, I expereinced it too. Just turn off DOLBY in the sound settings.

Yeah every device does it, something in the audio software causing it. Waydownsouth got rid of it in CM9 though, so its strictly a software issue.

Headphone jack output

I was listening to a song the other day and noticed that I wasn't getting stereo output from the headphone jack. I did a little researching and couldn't find anything on this subject. Does the headphone jack on the P930 output in stereo sound or is it just mono? My headphones are stereo yet each bud produces the same sound. Checked videos on youtube to check sound channels and even downloaded an app from the Play store; it was all mono. I'm running CM10-20120903 and this is the only ROM I've tried it on. That leaves me two options I can think of; CM10 doesn't support stereo output from the headphone jack (yet) or the Nitro's headphone jack is mono-output only. Am I missing anything? Clarifications?
I'm pretty sure is the Rom ,like now I'm using MIUI and sound normal like official ics but not like cm9

Thanks. After having the time to flash a different ROM to test, I was able to discern that CM10 in fact doesn't output stereo sound through the headphone jack; only mono.
Interesting, I gotta test CM9.

Improve audio

been away for too long and lost track of tricks to improve audio volume on Gnex, especially on notifications (not only music).
Anything new and really working?
Mostly interested in improving volume for notifications through external speaker.
Thanks

Sorry but I must say a huge... NO
As an audio enthusiast, Beats must be the ****tiest sound I've ever heard.
There is/was an app called "Volume+" which is said to work pretty well. Though I can't confirm it.
Otherwise some ROM's and Kernels do have a bit of volume boost built in.

volume+ was working with ics but broke with jb...
plus I need only volume increase on ext spkr for notifications
I fixed mine with trinity kernel. They have an audio slider that helps with that.
On the topic of audio is there any way to control the gain of the mic when recording video?

I've been pretty pleased with Misledz's work over here. Works well for JB to improve audio quality and boost volume.

There is a pinhole-size notch in the top edge of the rear cover, toward the right side as you look at your phone from the back. Behind that is supposedly a second microphone that is used when recording video. There have been complaints that it is set far too sensitive, and garbles the audio in loud environments. I don't know of any way to adjust it with software. You could try reducing the MIC's sensitivity by holding your finger over the pinhole.

I've noticed the same thing on mine.
Its extremely loud. Ive noticed things sound normal if u put the volume like 2 notches under the max.. but still its rather strange. You think this is normal or defect?

It seems to be a general issue with the device. I exchanged my device because of this issue but I notice the same sound distortion when volume is maxed.

So same audio loudness and distortion with replacement phone? I guess its not that bad.. here at my job I put it on max volume and you can hear the music from quite a distance. The distortion goes away tho if u dont raise volume to max. Seems to be only with speaker because it sounds good with headphones.

Hello guys,
Does the headphone jack of your Wildfire have a microphone integrated?

Thanks!
