You never know until the Bulletin comes out on Monday.

My wants would be:
- Improvements in video recording sound
- Improvements in low volume speaker distortion
- YouTube videos play in the center of screen
- Improvements to memory management
- Additional video recording option (4k @60)
- Improvements to navigation gestures between recent applications and application drawer

Battery and heat improvements

I hope they are going to do something with memory so fortnite is not going to be killed because reaching 1.9GB memory usage.

Yes, Idk if it's only me or what, but... Fortnite crashes every time when I'm about to arrive from the parachute.
And the app kick me off ...
It's annoying.
Now, Idk is due to Lack of optimization by Epic ?

Unfortunately It's not. Android on Google pixel is not willing to give more than 1.8GB of ram to this game and kills it if fortnite crosses this mark. For example Galaxy s8 happily gives even 3 GB ram and game is working smoothly there.

In conclusion, we'll never be able to play this game decently in our Pixel?
Or is there a solution?
By the way, do you have the same problem?

I would like them to fix the damn earpiece clicking during phone calls and the speaker buzzing/distortion at lower volumes/certain frequencies. That and further improve memory management.

I'm looking for:
1) Distortion fix in bottom speaker.
2) Fix of erratic failure in proximity sensor when bring phone to your ear.
3) Better memory management.
Anyone any idea when this OTA might happen?
Cheers.

Bulletin is posted, including a whopping 13 functional patches! System images usually follow within minutes. :good:
Edit: Images now up.

Yay, finally. Hoping for performance improvements.

Update. Rooted. Good to go. :good:

So still no speaker distortion fix .. or am I blind ? ??

Thanks for being this month's guinea pig. Just wondering, did you fully install TWRP or just fastboot boot the .img. Also, did you use Magisk 17.3 Beta or the canary build?

[FIX] Galaxy Nexus GSM low latency audio for Jelly Bean

One of the flaws of the new Android Jelly Bean OS compared to iOS is the big audio playback latency - about 48 ms. This impacts negatively many applications that emulate musical instruments and the ones that do VOIP like Skype or Google Talk. For VOIP apps the audio lag also has a negative impact on acoustic echo cancellation. I have to mention that Google improved from ICS where the playback latency was about 88 ms.
This is a similar thread to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674836
but applies to Jelly Bean.
The attached package should be used only by experienced users that can eventually restore their system to the original state. I tested it on Android 4.1.1 GSM phone build JRO03C (maguro) and 4.1.2 build JZ054K.
The latency after aplying it should be 18 ms (no longer 11 ) with the new version - as reported by the "Caustic 2" app.
It does NOT work on Android 4.2!
Apps like Google Talk, Skype, YouTube, Play Music, Caustic 2, Pandora, TheDrum, My Piano... work very well with this change.
With the newest version all the apps I tested that work well with stock Jelly Bean work well with this patch, with the additional advantage of lower latency.
Status: stable (install and use at own risk)
Notes:
1) applying this might reverse changes made in other mods.
2) The "SCREEN OFF" BUG is FIXED as of July 16th night.
To install use "lowlatsnd41_18_inst.zip"
To restore to original state you may use "lowlatsnd41_rest.zip" or other restore methods if necessary.
Do not run the install twice in a row (run one install then one restore; you have to run restore only if you want to uninstall or before installing a new version when available...).
Since the volume is still a big issue for the Galaxy Nexus users I decided to address this with a Volume Boost patch.
Status: stable ( for 4.1, not tested in 4.2). Install and use at own risk...
The same rules for install/restore apply.
General comment: system updates may delete the backup of the original files; therefore the "restore" should be ran before an update followed by a new install after the update; restoring the original files is also required if the update performs sum checks.
I just installed it and my latency went from 168 ms to 18 ms in caustic 2.
Major ISSUE: When the screen is off audio is incredibly distorted (slowed down an incredible amount) when playing music through headphones. It seems to work fine when the screen is on, though.
I restored using your restore file and caustic 2 now reports my latency as 48 ms and music plays fine when the screen is off, too. Ha, I'm going to test to see if people still complain about horrible echo and delay when making GrooveIP calls over t-mobile 4G.
Thanks!

My GNex is running at 1536 Mhz CPU / 384 Mhz GPU w/ franco's kernel. Could that be causing my issues when the screen's off? Or did you mean that the issue is caused by the SOC clocking down by the scheduler to save power when the screen is off?
I was thinking it may have happened because I'm max screen off speed was 384 it was to low. But I changed it to always hold 12Xx and it bug still persisted

I can confirm still an issue listening to mlb app with screen off. On the plus side, voip delay noticeably lessened.

Should be negligible.
Confirmed, audio on screen off working properly. Subjectively, voip tests are promising with little delay. I'll have to put it through some phone calls to really know. Thanks Von!
Works on Toro too! Thank you Von!

4.1.1 vs open beta 13

Suggest me......
search the forums and make your own decision
OB13 is better since you don't need to install magisk for the touch latency update. They finally fixed the latency issue and the speed gains from it are pretty noticeable. Everything else is pretty much the same thing.
but android system take lot of battery in standby mode in beta13.

Multi touch issues with 8.1 in FPS games

Is anyone else having multitouch issues with FPS games. I have tested this on Guns of Boom and Dead trigger 2 the multitouch responses will randomly go crazy and I cannot control the aim especially in guns of boom, it's not as bad in Dead trigger 2 but still there. This was not present in 8.0.
Google is aware of the issue and there are also multiple reports with the latest 8.1 release.
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/68724748
Google is aware.
Deleted duplicate post.
Any update on this ,
Bump nevertheless
Seriously , no one bothered to reply back,
Nothing seems to be happening on that issue tracker page as well . Should this be raised in Google product forums ,
Why is this thing not being taken seriously , if one goes to the issue tracker page , then one will know that all pixel 2 devices suffer from it
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/68724748
Please star this more recent report. The one listed here is for the developer preview and they "deferred it to a future release".
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/70344455
Google appears to have drivers for 8.0 that should fix the issue but I am not sure how to install. https://developers.google.com/android/drivers
A custom 8.1 ROM may do the trick.
One reason I bought this phone was to not run a custom ROM, yet still get frequent updates. Google needs to fix this, quick!

I'm back on 8.0 as well. I wish they'd hurry up and fix this. Shouldn't have to run an older release on a brand new phone for it to function properly.
Issue touching other devices too... I'm on Android 8.1 custom ROM for OnePlus 3 and I have this problem too.
This is disappointing from Google, so much big games have been released, these are the main reason to buy a powerful phone so it would be cool to got them working.
I just noticed the touchscreen bug this week. I'm on 8.1 with the Jan. update and I just started gaming on my p2 xl. Primarily angry birds 2 and online shooters. For AB2 it's flawless.
But for ALL of the shooters I play ( modern combat versus, unkilled, guns of boom, deadheads, and Bullet Force) the multi-gesturing (one thumb swiping left while the other simultaneously swipes right or up) can often cause disoriented /inaccurate movement registration.
It's my 1st major gripe with this phone. The p2 xl is fantastic otherwise. And............ on an unrelated note - if you want to play an impressive online shooter that can run 2k /60 frames a second AND do so with ALL the settings set to ULTRA.... try playing Bullet Force! The game runs like a dream on the pixel 2! Apart from the Oreo 8.1 multi-gesture anomalies.... but that's not the game's fault..... it's Google's

Meh...some say it does, others not. I'm not a gamer so I really can't say. I do think it helps with touch input with texting though. As with anything with android....YMMV ?

so many complaints

So in the Samsung official s9 forum there are thread after threads of people complaining about the new 'downgrade' to Pie One Ui mainly about the camera features being removed,
Shutter button zoom removed
Separate Video and shutter buttons removed
Pro video settings removed
Selective focus is now useless (s9)
Selfie Camera default view is too close so effects all apps that use selfie camera.
The ugly iPhone look of the overall camera software.
Battery life is down quite a bit although I've been told that the may update fixes this at last.
There are a few other features missing or changed that i personally don't use.
I personally love the new ONEui especially combined with Samsungs one handed operation + app using gestures.
The weird thing is I'm not hearing any complaints in the s9 xda forums about the upgrade/downgrade to Pie.
Are you all happy with your phone's from Oreo to Pie ?
Personally I think they have lowered the quality of the camera to make their S10 phones look superior but that probs me having a tin hat moment
I had my S9 for all of about 2 hours - about the time it took to transfer from a screen-busted S8 to the replacement S9 a couple months ago - before the update to Pie occurred.
I've had no problems or issues with it. And I've had the S8 for just under a year and half so I went through its update from Nougat to Oreo.
I don't know what issues there are with "selective focus". It seems to work fine for me.
Now, I have disabled as much of Bixby as I can (deleted the Google app and removed that search bar too - completely useless for me). Changed the launcher to Nova Launcher which can remove those goofy rounded icon frames, using the BlackBerry Hub Suite of apps for all the IM stuff, even using the BlackBerry Virtual keyboard which I like better than the stock or any SwiftKey keyboard.
I honestly don't understand the complaints towards Pie. It's not all that different from Oreo, and I love the native dark theme.
I personally don't like the update to pie. Battery life is definitely worse, the wifi signal is worse (I tested it between the S5 and S7 and the S9 was the worst). I don't like the UI at all, reminds me of an iPhone. About the only thing I do like is the My files app. It's cleaner and easier to use and navigate.

You have nothing to compare it to then, Oreo was 100x better which is why people are a bit disappointed. And I have to say your setup sounds absolutely awful ?

You missed my line about having the S8 for almost a year and a half, during which time it updated from Nougat to Oreo. So, yes, I can definitely compare with Oreo, since I had it for about a year.
And, except for some shifting around of elements, I find it to be basically the same. I had no problems finding what I need anywhere within the revamped UI.
And, my setup works perfect for me and is absolutely wonderful. You can't say otherwise without trying it yourself
I know that features in camera like pro video, zoom using the shutter button, taking 3 pictures when setting a timer, motion panorama... are removed, but the ui isn't ugly, I actually liked it better than oreo.
Selective focus is a bit improved after software updates, but the blur effect isn't as stong as in oreo.
Battery life isn't too much worse, I think the first month I upgraded to one UI, it was very bad, but it has improved after learning my usage patterns...
Heat is noticeably improved since when I was on oreo my phone was a little too warm all the time, but now it's normal, even available RAM is higher, I have 1.4~1.6 GB free now, compared to 1~1.2 GB in oreo.
When it comes to animations, I find less frame drops with one UI. And I didn't experience any kind of major lag since I got the phone so no worries here.
The whole UI looks better for me, it's cleaner and easier to use, I've not changed any launcher, keyboard, or even themes, everything is stock. And I can safely say that one UI is overall better than oreo, unless you care about the missing camera features.
I am absolutely gutted about the camera software, but I do love the one UI and I just got the May update which is supposed to fix the battery problems.
I hate it that they removed the recent long press to multitask, i mean why would samsung remove such simple usefull feature?

Just go to settings>display>adaptive brightness and reset usage patterns. Then adjust it the way you want in each situation so it adapts to your adjustments...
This is the problem, it keeps cocking up, I reset usage and it's alright for a bit then it's drops to 0 brighteners so I move it to how I would like it and it'll be ok but then I go outside and the brightness doesn't increase so I adjust again for that and on we go because now auto brightness isn't doing anything and I'm constantly changing the brightness in the same brightness I've already set up, I reset again and all is ok for a while and then it starts again.
I'm going to wipe cache partition and reset brightness patterns and see how it goes.

About Android 11

Hello guys, I wanna know that you who have updated your Pixel 2 XL to ANDROID 11, how is the experience? How is the battery life? Is it performing better than the ANDROID 10? How's the camera? Is it worth to upgrade? Thanks in advance.
in my case, the battery is better than 10. Performance is better. But it is still some small bug.
Camera is an app, the quality is depent on app version, not the android version.
