Hi guys, I know this is a boring question that everyone makes, but I want to give it a try.
I have an a5 2017, that is actually running the nougat, android patch march 01, 2018.
I saw people saying that you can't downgrade because of binary 4 or something like that, saw other people saying if you downgrade only the ap it will work, but I couldn't succeed in any of these. More specifically, when I try to downgrade using the only AP method, it gives me an error on the recovery.img.
I want to know if still there's an way to downgrade to marshmallow, and if possible without tripping the knox.
don't work any of the methods. the bootloader is diferent version on 7 then 6
really? no way at all?

I have a Verizon P605v 2014 Tablet running on 4.2 rooted. I really wish to upgrade it to lollipop but since Verizon bootloader is locked i am afraid to lose root privileges after upgrading.
- Has anyone had luck rooting their device after upgrading to lollipop?
Note: I've found that SRS Root is supporting samsung SM-P605V (Build: LMY47X.P605VVRUDOH2) 5.1.1, but I haven't been able to get any confirmation.
Another question is it possible to downgrade to 4.4.2 after upgrading to lollipop?
I'm wondering the same thing. Did you ever get it to work?
Sorry but no, ddidnt work for me.
I checked out srsroot but the file is a virus
mostly software tell its virus but its not

I will trust AVG when it says it is a Trojan. I don't get that when I use "password generators". Plus I have NEVER heard of SRSroot before!
Hi folks.
Been lurking for a while, but this is my first post.
I've been looking into rooting my SM-G870W (Galaxy S5 Active, Canadian, Telus) for a while now. It's currently updated to Android 6.0.1.
I've read a lot of different information and I've held off on actually trying it because of several posters saying they've bricked their phone or had no luck.
To the best of my knowledge and research, there is no "plug and play" app or program that will root automatically. Is this accurate?
I have read of manual recommendations or guides that say they work.
This site, being the foremost authority as far as I'm concerned, is my last step in research.
Can anyone please advise if this is possible for this phone and version?
If so, is there an existing guide that is reputable that I could follow?
I thank you in advance.
A little late to post. But I am having no luck rooting my SM-870W on Telus. I used Odin and the CF-Auto-Root-kltecanactive-kltevlactive-smg870w for Marshmallow 6.0.1
I just end up with "Recovery is SeAndroid enforcing"
I then have to flash back the stock rom
Tomorrow when I have time, I am going to downgrade back to Lollipop to root it. If successful, then I will use Flashfire to update to Marshmallow 6.0.1 and see how that goes.
Well so far I successfully downgraded my phone back to Lollipop and rerooted it. . Tomorrow or next week will try updating with flashfire
I tried again to root marshmallow using flashfire, and it boot looped. So just going to stay on Lollipop and keep rooted. Will probably upgrade phone soon anyway. I don't know how others on youtube etc say they have done it, but it's not working for me.
Thanks for posting
I too have the same model phone and I'm running into the exact same issue you are. Thanks for posting which lets me know I'm not the only one facing this problem

Hi guys, I'm a noob so I would appreciate to get some help from you. Well, I want to downgrade from Nougat (security patch level 4) to Marshmallow (any version of it). I tried this a few weeks ago and Odin gave me an error (DEVICE:4 BINARY:2 or something like this). I understood the problem is with the FRP (again, i'm a noob, i'm sorry if i'm wrong) and if I unlock this, I am able to install any version of Android on the phone, and skip the Google account verification. As I want to keep my warranty, I'm asking you if this method will trip my Knox to 1. Is this what I have to do in order to downgrade to MM? If not, what do I have to do?
Thanks in advice!
Hi all,
I know this may seem like a n00b question, but I hope you can point me in the right direction. I have a A320FL with Android 6.0.1 - build june 28 2017, and I blocked the auto update feature, because back then I read about the advanced locking technique and want to root my phone. Since then I looked at these forums, but found it quite difficult to gather all the information to get confident enough to flash/root my phone. In the past I rooted/flashed my Sony Z1c regularly and that was easy. But for some reason flashing the A320 seems much more difficult, with more chances for it to go wrong.
I'd like to have the following:
- Android Oreo stock, twrp, rooted and Xposed (optional if possible)
I found this thread about rooting and twrp and xposed, but it's an older manual for Android 7 and I don't know if it will also work with Oreo.
Other threads talk about unlock and the security path, but I'm not sure if it applies to my situation, or not? (since I have an older installation, perhaps the advanced locking technique isn't implemented)
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You should just be able to enable OEM unlock, flash TWRP, format data in TWRP, flash no-verity- noencrypt zip, and you should be fine I think.
Okay, and then flash the last stock rom and then Magisk for root?

If you want to be on the latest update, then do it before you root. But yes, then you flash magisk after the rom after you got TWRP.. Make sure you boot up once or more before you flash magisk.
Hello,
I've got a Galaxy A52017 (SM-A520F) with Android 8.0. Now I want to put Lineage 16 on this device. I know how to do it, however I don't know how to put TWRP on the phone and how to root it. I've got Manjaro 19, so i cannot use odin. Can you help me?
You can use heimdall I guess, but that is not as "safe" as Odin.
I would always prefer to use odin.

Hello everyone, I would like to know if in my A5 2017 oreo version, it is possible to root with cf auto root, if it is not possible, you can list some methods (even Odin) without installing the twrp or any other recovery.
Thanks in advance (sorry for my english but I'm italian).
Hi everyone I am new here I want to root my Samsung galaxy A5 2017 ,I have some doubts regarding rooting phone.my question is ,is it necessary to flash Rmm State Bypass and no verity opt encrypt 6.0 after installing TWRP ?or can I directly flash magisk manager by skipping those two zip files? Because I watched so many videos on YouTube as they didn't flashed those two zip files so I am not sure to flash or not.
