Hi, I am looking to purchase the Samsung Galaxy Watch and my current phone is the OnePlus 3t (old I know, will be looking to upgrade soon), my question is does anybody know how compatible these products are? Will I still be able to use the most important functions, messaging, heart rate, sleep tracking etc
Any advice would be appreciated
Thank you!!
It really should, but to be totally sure download the Samsung health and Samsung wearable app and go to a place where they sell the Galaxy watch. If the watch is in a hands on display area you can simply pair it with your phone and check the features.

I've an OP5. I'm not able to install the Samsung Wearable App from playstore, it says app is incompatible. So I downloaded and installed the app from apkmirror and everything is working perfectly. Its syncing and I'm getting notifications. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone.
I have a big problem, the Samsung Wearable app does not work on my Oneplus 5t with root.
Initially it tells me that the app is not compatible with my phone. Then I downloaded the apk, installed, but immediately after it freezes and closes the app.
Please can you help me?
Thank you

Oh I forgot, are you on custom rom or stock OOS? if you are on custom roms then Samsung Wearable App won't work. Wearable App will work with stock OOS rom.
The app is the one I downloaded too. How rom i mounts the OxigenOs with the module for magisk XXX nolimits ..

Flash stock rom and then try..
I'll try it tonight. I hope it works, even if I need to have the root. I have my doubts because the OxigenOs I have now is the stock with the only addition of the Magisk module ..... maybe I try to install TheOne5Tos which is always on a stock basis

@ernia75 all the best, pls let us know how it goes. By the way my OP5 is rooted.

only a clarification. but for your Op5 (since it is identical to my Op5t) is the app compatible? were you able to install it directly from the Play Store or did you have to download the apk? Thank you

@ernia75
Pls read posts 3 to 5 . Thanks
I've downloaded the app straight from the playstore and it seems to be working so I think im going to go ahead with purchasing.. if it doesn't work ill follow this advice, thank you!!
Hi guys, just to circumvent you that doing a clean installation of the OxygenOs and doing the root again, everything works.
thanks a lot
I was told the reason Galaxy Watch says it is not compatible with my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge when I try to order it online from Verizon,,,lol is that I had a pixel before the S7 edge and swapped that sim on to my S7 edge and I need a new sim to have the watch be compatible with the Galaxy Watch,,,does this seem okay?
@Archangel I think that is total bs. Why should the SIM Card have an effect on that?
I have an op3T Stock Rom with latest Magisk Root.
In December when I bought the Watch everything was fine. I even could download all necessary apps from the Play Store. However, since two weeks I cannot update or re-download the Apps because my phone became unsupported.
After some Googling I found out in the Samsung Support Forums that some people claim that the issue is Knox which does not want to work with unlocked bootloader or rooted phones and somehow magisk is unable to hide it from the app/play store? https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/Smartphones-Tablets-Wearables/All-gear-Fit-Applications-quot-Not-Compatible-with-your-device/td-p/295918
I hope they will lax these restrictions because rooting a phone is almost normal for android power users..
all apps work great one oneplus6t trying out Spotify mod now takes a sec to get used to it but I will

It could be that they simply haven't updated their records, and so yes, maybe their website is having issues due to o this.
It will work just fine

Has anyone successfully added Moto 360 to S Health as a device? I use the app on my Note 3 and I want to add to my watch as the device and not phone.
I've tried to pair on an S4 with no luck. I think Samsung has S Health to where it only works with a few devices and Samsung watches...
Google fit is the only one I know of that works with the Moto for health.
Sleep for android works as a sleep tracker.
Give time, it'll eventually have the compatibility or someone will make it have compatibility.
Has anyone found a work around for this yet? I would love to be able to pair my Moto 360 with S-Health.
I would love this!

S Health doesn't share data with Android Wear anyway. The S4 comes with S Health, unless you rooted and deleted it, or you have the S4 GPe. You can try getting it back from the Samsung Apps store, that's where it receives updates from.

In case anyone was going to purchase the latest Samsung Gear s2 for their OPT, it will not work. Apparently, even thought the spec requirements of the gear s2 are met, if the phone is not on the compatibility list than it will not work.
That won't last long
I hope so. Hopefully someone can port the necessary applications and frameworks before Samsung does.

I have OPT and gear s2...I can't get it to sync. Unable to download from app store and even manually installed it and no luck.
Can we request this be moved to the Q&A / Help section?
Did you try do install the apps from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3216240

It's hard to tell right now. Samsung Gear Manager for Android is still in its infancy. There aren't many apps out for it yet. As far as functions, all mortifications work, you can reply to text messages with the build in keyboard, you can initiate calls from the wearable, S health is mostly good(there will be several future update to fix bugs) tizen actually works really good on this watch. Battery life is great and the qi wiress charging dock works great. Overall, best smartwatch watch out to date and its only going to get better. When do you get your classic ?
Thak you! Does the google calendar notifications works? Whats is the navigation app? Is the Here app?
I hope to get my classic this week, I preorder on amazon.de

Haven't tried Google calendar, maps work good.
What about the opo??
What about the opo??
My OPT won't connect to gear manager, just sits at connecting to gear
Does the installation of the files require root?
Thank you.
No you do not need root
I hope someone backports the older Gear watches to this new app. Got my Gear 1 sitting on a shelf ever since i got my OPT.
I downloaded both apps from the forum link, and it still can't find my watch. Would you mind posting a short list of the steps?
Hello Guys, i just bought the Gear S2 from Samsung a few Days ago, unfortunately when i search the Samsung Gear App, it doesnt show up in the Play Store.
Then i went to the Website from the Store and it shows the S4 Mini with CM 13 are doesnt supported.
I just think okay, maybe a error, then i found a Link for the manual Downlod on a Website, with the latest version, and then when i want to start the App: the operating system has been changed and which is not supported.
Are they just meaned, maybe u try an Port rom from S6, and it worked, but just on 4.4, and i hate this black status bars in apps, i love this "new" design with colors in the bar from the apps.
I dont want to use 4.4, its so ugly for me.
Can anyone please help me ? and i dont want an android wear smartwatch, this would work, but all they are crap.

There is an app on galaxy apps store but i don t konw if it go on a rom

Sadly its just the same app, just an second option to download it for the samsung user.
Maybe there is an option to crack or, remove that root barrier from the app, to use it on an custom rom
Anyone get Samsung Pay to work on a rooted non Samsung phone? I used Magisk hide to hide root for Samsung Pay, but that does not work. Is this something that is just not possible?
thanks
Samsung Pay requires a Samsung phone, and a non-rooted one at that.
(edit - at least that's what I think. I know on a Samsung phone, once you root and trip Knox, you are unable to use Samsung Pay permanently on that device)
thanks, i have read it will work with the watch and a non Samsung phone. I was surprised that magisk hide was not enough to make it work...
I am having OnePlus 5T non rooted with Galaxy watch WiFi edition and it does not still work. I am from India.
I think it used to work with OnePlus 5T and Gear S3 with the gear S3 watch plugin and Samsung pay plugin. The same plugin does not work with Galaxy watch.
We need to wait for Samsung to provide the suppory for Samsung pay along with the watch plugin.

I uninstalled samsung pay, reinstalled and before opening used magisk hide and now it let me set it up. have not had a chance to use it yet.
Use magisk hide to hide root from ALL Samsung apps you will find on your phone. Got a non-samsung phone, had struggles at the beginning too, until I did this, and now it works.
I just updated Samsung Pay on my OP5 and it wouldn't open,l because the phone is rooted. It was working just before the update.
I was able to get it working again by turning off storage permissions for the Samsung Pay watch plug-in and then allowing it again when the app asked for it. Unexpected, but I'll take it.
Rooted 6T here. SPay works fine with Magisk v19 beta.

Hey folks,
I happen to have an old unlocked, unrooted, AT&T Carrier branded Note 5. This was, as far as I'm aware, the last version of the Galaxy and Note devices that supported the Dual Camera mode (still can download the apk from apkmirror) which allowed you to use both the front and back camera simultaneously (side-by-side, pip, etc). The Note 5's camera app was the only one to recognize the dual camera mode in its UI and allow you to select it for use.
I'd ABSOLUTELY LOVE to somehow get this system camera app ported for use as a user-installable camera app, which will allow me to use the Dual Camera mode.
Any ideas? Possible? If someone can point me in the right direction, I'd be forever grateful.
Thank you!
I dont think it is possible, very different camera, well, way different things in all regards
It should be possible with the right software.
Try 3rd party apks on Playstore, try Galaxy Store or this*:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/dual-camera/dual-camera-3-006-release/
*Scan it first with Virus Total before installing.

Keep looking. You could try contacting Samsung but their tech support sucks. Never know though.
US Samsung gives the best support and oddly SK the worst.
