Usually caused by incomplete firmware
Try flashing this from stock firmware
Code:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
run
Code:
fastboot getvar all
To find correct firmware
Product = codename
securestate = bootloader locked or unlocked
carrier_sku = Model #
ro.carrier = Software Channel

First things: THANK YOU VERY MUCH
I have flashed stock rom 8
then flashed 9
I ran BP TOOLS and got IMEI again. (I never lost baseband at any time)
Then I flashed lineages 16 and also had IMEI
But if I try the roms of:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-force/how-to/rom-havocos-3-2-crdroid-6-3-t4060167
I don't have IMEI. I would like to try the havocos

Revert stock rom (android 8) and backup efs in twtp, and flash lineage 17.1 first, then havoc and check imei. If not recognize imei, backup efs.

Somebody could help me? my IMEI marks it at 0 and neither the camera nor some sensors work. But in the bootloader if my IMEI appears, can it be solved or is it already a hardware problem?

You've flashed pie, so there is no going back to oreo. You need to flash the correct stock pie firmware for your variant. -05 covers a few different carriers so you need to know what your original software channel was (retbr, retail, etc). Then flash the appropriate pie firmware.

Go back to post #3 and reflash the files @sd_shadow suggested then reboot. If the problem still persist, then reboot to stock recovery and do a factory reset. Not a factory reset from settings menu, from stock recovery.

Have you done
fastboot oem lock begin
flash stock firmware - all of it using fastboot commands
fastboot oem lock
You can't just do fastboot oem lock without doing the previous commands
Why do you want to lock the bootloader? There's no benefit unless you are selling the phone
Except that if I'm using stock with no root whatsoever, it's not worth having a message shaming you for unlocking your bootloader every time you boot or reboot
Also, I had issues beforehand doing the method you suggested, so that is why I'm not bothering with it

Thanks, flashed your logo.bin via fastboot and bootloader warning was gone. Though it reads "bad key" displayed on top of the stock Motorola logo.
A way to get rid of that too to have clean stock look?

That's why I explicit asked for "clean stock look", no fancy boot logo but original one without the "bad key" showing up.
"bad key" showing up ain't a problem of the boot graphics afaik. I didn't got it fixed myself though correct firmware/cedric image was flashed.

Ok, this is weird. When I bought the second-hand device, the cell phone came with the bootloader unlocked. I had a report when I bought it, so I ordered it removed. I guess they changed the sku to unlock it. Is there a solution to change sku? As for example installing the original firmware by fastboot

You could try flashing stock firmware as long as it is actually a moto g5 (check the label under the battery)
You would need to flash gpt & bootloader to repartition
Firmware can be found
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/cedric/official/
Code:
fastboot oem fb_mode_set
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash dsp adspso.bin
fastboot flash oem oem.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.8
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
fastboot reboot
If you get security downgrade error when trying to flash gpt/bootloader the firmware you are trying to flash is too old

I will try to flash the stock rom that is here, Since I was in Nougat and update to Oreo with the last published revision Give more details when you unlock it
It did not work, I have tried with the rom that you have given me and with all the stocks in this forum it still does not change the SKU

Sounds to me like it could have possibly been a bricked phone and they have used some software/hardware to flash an image back onto it giving it that sku (which is odd as I worked with others to make a totally safe way to unbrick this device)
If after enabling adb debugging and enabling oem unlock if available if its saying your device is not eligible for unlock (assuming all codes have been entered correctly on the Motorola website) then there's not anything you can do
If I were you I'd contact the seller and question why your device displays the sku of a moto g4 play & obtain a refund for dodgy practices
I have a small idea, If I try to use the SD method with the Firmware that you have put in another thread and try to fully flash the cell phone including Bootllader (Since this cell phone is updated to 8.1 and I have flashed the bootloader of the rom) I may recover your Original Sku, right?

The image tricks the phone into booting the bootloader from the sd card so a user without an accessable bootloader can then flash gpt which repartitions the device and then flash the bootloader back
I don't know how they changed the sku (probably by JTAG)
So the sd card probably wouldn't help if you have flashed gpt and bootloader from the latest firmware
You could always create the sd card and see if it gives you a different sku when it's inserted

Man, I'm already busting my head to unlock the boorloader of this thing, I'll leave it so I really don't have another G5 to test, It's intregant somehow how the hell they changed the sku to the cell phone Anyway, even so thanks for the help friend

My best guess is they used a JTAG and modified moto g4 play unbrick files to be able to flash the bootloader back to the G5 but who knows
I take it when you have typed
oem get_unlock_data
It gives you a key and you have copied this key into a text document and then removed all the spaces
The key is normally on about 4 lines so you need to remove all the spaces so it's just on one whole line then copy that very long string into the Motorola website
As mentioned in the title I have an issue regarding the stock firmware. I have a Moto G7 Play (It's actually called Moto G7 Optimo) straight talk just renamed it. Anyways I cannot flash the Stock NON-HLOS.bin from the latest firmware (or any firmware of an earlier version). It erases my baseband and then no sim detected. Yet when I pull the modem Files from the Verizon variant and use them, my baseband returns and everything is good. The reason I'm wishing to return to the stock baseband is so I can properly receive updates. Like when Android 10 or a newer security version arrives. If anyone knows a fix please let me know and thank you.

Run fastboot getvar all, send me the output, and I should be able to tell you. Be sure to black out your IMEI/MEID. You don't want people to have that info and I definitely don't need it. Alternatively, you can check your sim card for a carrier marker, like Sprint, At&t, etc and if it has one, that should be the modem you're after. The bootloader would probably give you the most accurate info though.
Being that's it's straight talk though, you might have to play musical chairs with modems before you get it right. They use like 4 different carriers for LTE.

This should be your most recent firmware. Direct download: Channel_Trac And this should be your firmware folder.
Make sure you run the commands fastboot erase modemst1 and fastboot erase modemst2 after flashing the modem.

Ok I figured out why I have no baseband when I flash NON-HLOS.bin. It's because I flashed the Verizon one and it's newer than my stock firmware. Is there anyway to downgrade the modem?

Modems can't down grade. I did the same thing once with the Pie test release. If flashing the correct modem and wiping modemst1/st2 didn't work, you're stuck like that until a newer firmware gets released. Did you maybe flash an older firmware from Trac? Because they have a 2-7-2020 release and the latest from Verizon is just one day before that. So the most recent Trac modem should be as updated as Verizon's.
Also did you try flashing the full firmware or just the modem?

My mistake, you're correct. It's 1-7-2020 and 1-6-2020. That really sucks. I think you're stuck until newer firmware pops up, or another OTA. You might be able to fix it by going one firmware release back, and then OTA updating into the latest release. You'd need WiFi though. It's worth a shot.

I'll give it a try. I appreciate the idea. I'll report back on here as to whether or not it succeeds. I'm hoping so. If not then I'll wait for the next firmware like you said.
It did not succeed. When i tried to downgrade to a previous firmware it boot looped the device. its back to where it was before with the same modem issue.

I did not. Would rsd lite automate that? Or would I have to do it manually?

I'm pretty sure you'd have to do it manually. I never use RSD but I imagine it'd go strictly by the flash file, which would only flash to slot A, and send those smaller dummy files in the firmare to slot B.

This fix doesn`t work for me ,i am with unlocked bootloader ,and i was using android 10 GSI ,i have decided to switch back to stock, but neither blankflash helps ,neither flashing stock rom via fastboot, RSD Lite cannot read none of the .xml files in 5 different stock firmwares ,my bootloader is unlocked ,but when i type the command : fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability ,i get the result:
(bootloader) Flashing Android images permitted
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 0.000s
And when i try again with this command: fastboot flashing unlock , i get the result :
...
(bootloader) Already unlocked for flashing.
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 0.000s
What the heck is wrong? Please help ,i have tried everything that i can think of! My thoughts are that something is preventing reflashing partitions.I don`t have any errors during flash stock firmware process, but as far as i can see from the command: fastboot getvar all

Tried to unbrick the device with latest firmware version 81-5 and the version before the brick - 81-3 ,tested with several fastboot variants (minimal adb and fastboot, mfastboot and etc. ,latest versions) Even tried to unbrick the device on Windows 7 ,Windows 10 , Linux Mint 19.3 ,linux Mint 20 . When i try to unlock critical bootloader partitions ,fastboot says that i need an OEM signed bootloader, i have flashed the stock boot.img several times and i still get this message,is there any way to fully unlock the bootloader ? I am so upset that this device doesn`t have at least custom recovery. This was my last Moto/Lenovo device for sure! Just need to bring it back to life so i can get rid of it. MTK sucks!!!!

What the heck is wrong? Please help ,i have tried everything that i can think of! My thoughts are that something is preventing reflashing partitions.I don`t have any errors during flash stock firmware process, but as far as i can see from the command: fastboot getvar all

Thank you for your great work! This tutorial totally helped me unbrick my Motorola one Macro .With a lot of help with correct translation ,everything worked perfect! After one month of hopelesness my device is like brand new!
And few things for the users with this issue: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO USE BLANKFLASH FOR YOUR EXACT DEVICE!!! (XT2016-1 or XT2016-2) AS WELL YOU WILL NEED THE CORRECT MTK PLATFORM-TOOLS ,OR FLASHING WON`T DO THE TRICK! AND ALWAYS USE THE LATEST STOCK FIRMWARE!
I understand perfectly all comments. I'll edit this post coming soon.

You can try restore the backup with a recover
I had the same problem , flashing lineageos seems to fix it but you can never downgrade below android 10 again and keep baseband. You're stuck with using 10+ only unless you don't care about IMEI/baseband but yeah just flash the newest lineage and if that doesn't work flash the second to newest etc. Worked for me several times
In my case with Sprint xt1789-03 help this way:
Flash NASH_RETAIL_9.0_PPX29.159-24 with MotoFlashPro WHITHOUT modem section - UNCHECK this:
%fastboot% flash dsp adspso.bin
%fastboot% flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
%fastboot% flash fsg fsg.mbn
%fastboot% flash bluetooth BTFM.bin
%fastboot% erase modemst1
%fastboot% erase modemst2
Then flash full latest sprit 8 android stock

That worked for my Device too. I had lost IMEI & baseband. First I flashed the latest TMO(04) image (you can use Lenovo/Motorola Rescue and Smart Assistant Software for Windows ) to get the baseband working and then flash LineageOS.
