Okay so I stumbled onto your thread because I faced a similar issue with my Redmi Note 4, so don't know if it helps. For all it's worth, here it is.
With my previous experience with MIUI, I knew arbitrary stuff like restarting etc would help. I just followed what they said per your screenshot...."Sign into your account and start again", I signed out my MI account and signed back in. It worked.
Though then the next step was the MI unlocker desktop app (for those who don't know, look up how to unlock the bootloader for your MI device) which again said a random demand "Try again after 72 hours". I obeyed and tried the next weekend and voila! I flashed it and now am on Lineage. No more MIUI for me!

Try this part? "I signed out my MI account and signed back in. It worked."
Else give more details, I'll see if I can remember what to do.

That actually worked, sign out then in. Now added my device

- Are you sure that you allow USB debbugging in developer options?
- You can check if maybe was unlocked? In developer options, sometimes result is ok but give a msg of error.
- If previous don't help just in this thread you find answer, it seems an issue of account signing https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/help/mi-account-question-t3535041

Same problem - My solution
Hi guys,
I've got the same problem and after following the standard tuto, my phone stucked at 50 %.
I'm on 8.1.9.0 global stable version.
The solution was just to go on the developper options and after unable usb and oem unlock, I changed the "mi unlock status".
I started after that the bootloader unlocking operation and everything went perfect.
Hope this could help.

Do you tyr to enable in dev options : debug USB to allow modification to PC ?
What is your rom version ? Did you previouly root your device ?
What is the error you've got when trying to unlocking ?
Be patient : we will find !!!
Hi, this is how I did it (autotranslated from italian, sorry):
Facing same problem here on helium 128GB, tried everything,
My account has unlock permissions (I've successfully unlocked hydrogen 3GB/32GB but sold it away)
USB debugging is on
logging in with the phone number (both in phone and on PC) Win 10 x64
only 1 device in the account,
find my device is on,
tracking device on i.mi.com
Previously I had Hydrogen and it unlocked on developer version but Helium doesn't have Global Developer and I'm on Nougat test Builds but I don't find a way to unlock it.
Have you guys done this?

In Mi Unlock Status I'm getting Error code 86012, very famous error, many people having it, infact there's a bug report for this error.
http://en.miui.com/thread-393857-1-1.html
On helium, does the unlock in dev options work on global developer rom only? Cant get this to work on global stable 8.1.9.0
Ensure that you login with phone number of Mi account and that there are no other devices in Mi account. If it still doesn't work as it did for me, post in MIUI forum and they will add you to senior group and it will work like a charm

Did you flash any ROM after buying the phone? Some sellers are using custom ROMs that looks like MIUI global, but it blocks people from rooting/unlocking. Had such situation on Redmi 4 Prime yesterday.

I've also tried multiple versions of Xiaomi's unlock tool but always keep running into the same error.
I'm running the latest update of Windows 10 and have tried rebooting the computer.
Do you guys have any ideas on how I could possibly fix this?
Cheers

did you connect it via usb 3.0 port? if it is, then try to connect it via usb 2.0 port. See if it's working.
If you were using pc, try using laptop (or another pc/laptop) and use usb 2.0 ...
I have this error when unlocking using my pc. When I tried using my sis laptop it's unlocked.
I'll give it a try at work on Monday, I don't have a computer with USB2.0 at home.

Mi 9 SE bricked after successful MIUI 11 Update

Hello everybody!
I have a problem with my Xiaomi Mi 9 SE. This is what happened:
Few days ago I updated to MIUI 11. Everything seemed to run smoothly.
2 days ago I noticed a huge battery drain during the day. I finished my day with my battery @ 10/1% with my usual daily use.
Yesterday I was using my phone normally while it was charging (watching a video on Youtube). The phone became unresponsive to everything: the touchscreen was not working, the buttons on the right were not working.
I decided to "hard-reboot" my phone. I pressed the on/off button for a few seconds.
The screen turned off.
From this point on, my phone was completely bricked. It does not turn on in any way possible: I tried also pressing the on/off button + volume up or down but nothing. Nothing happens even connecting it again to the power cord.
I tried connecting my phone to the PC via USB and this is what my PC recognized:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
But my phone still remains bricked/with its screen black.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this or at least recover my data in some way?
I suspect some bug related to battery mgmt in the MIUI 11 and I personally do not suggest you to update to it right now.
Thank you very much in advance!
You're on edl mode. I've been there. Unfortunately, Xiaomi doesn't allow us to recover our phones on edl mode, which is a shame. So, there are two options:
1 - Send it to the seller and try a fix/replacement.
2 - Pay someone with edl authorization to unbrick your phone.
If you want, I'll give you the contact of the person who did that for me. But I had unlocked the bootloader and flashed several ROMS. I bricked the phone trying to restore a full backup. Your case is different and, for what you described, you may be experiencing hardware problems, so I would go for option one.

Thank you very much for your reply! I really feel disappointed because I never messed up with my phone. I always used official releases. Since I bought it in Italy and now I'm far away from my country, I would go for option 2. Do you know if it is possible at least to recover my photos? Honestly that's the most important thing for me right now and unfortunately I forgot to enable the backup (my bad!).
We can speak in private if you prefer, send me a message with the details of the person that helped you.
Thanks!

Just to update everyone on the status: my phone is still bricked. I contacted the guy suggested by elpaablo but he just suggests to re-flash my phone while I want to recover my data first. I will leave my phone in the closet for 1/2 weeks and then try again to turn it on because I read on other threads that this worked for other people.
I will update this thread later on. I want to highlight again that I did not do anything weird with my Mi 9 SE: no twrp, no custom rom, no weird flashing, nothing. I just updated successfully my phone to the global stable using the official update menu in the settings.
Use your warranty. Your phone should be replaced. As for your photos, didn't you use some kind of backup, like google photos?

soft bricked redmi note 8 pro‏

my problem is that i flashed my RN8P with MIUI 12.0.5.0 manually using mi flash tool, and i accidentally checked on clean_all_lock for more security reasons. This led me to a bricked phone and stuck on the recovery with a message " this miui version can't be installed on this device".
Before flashing i didn't know that i have the chinese version of RN8P and the bootloader was already unlocked by the seller and flashed with a global ROM.
I didn't even know what bootloader is, but it's been a week since this happened and I never stopped searching for a solution. I removed the back cover to do the EDL method then I found that I must have an authorized account to flash it, this where I lost hope and became clueless. Note that my phone is bound to my mi account.
I wish that you can help me.
i'm also facing the same problem, i accidentally choose checked on clean_all_lock. is there any solution for this problem? thanks.

Question Can't unlock bootloader... help?

Hey,
I've tried several times unlocking my F3. I've tried different versions of the unlock tool, i've tried removing and re-adding my Mi account (on mobile data) and the OEM unlocking and USB debugging are on in developer options.
The screenshot attached is the only response I get so I can't even start my dreaded 168 hours wait.
Does anyone know what this means or could possibly help?
Thanks!

This phone had been locked by the Mi-account 167***625 through "Find my device". Cannot unlock.
You need access to that 167***625 account.
Or find Xiaomi and prove this phone belong to you, so they can deal with the account problem.
Or Xiaomi Authorized account EDL access.
If this is a second hand phone, find the person who sold you. He has to deal with it.

It's a brand new phone I bought a week or so ago and the account number listed is the very same account number that's bound to the phone. I only have 1 Mi account and only 1 Mi account has been used on the phone.
I am literally signed into the 167***625 account, binding it, says success, then returns that error.
Does Find my device possibly have something to do with it? I did try Google translate but couldn't get a clear translation.

Your screenshot clearly showed it's not the same.
Find my device need to be On to unlock. It is On for sure, so the problem is not it.
If your phone is a Chinese module, can try the Chinese Unlock tool.
You've got to disable MIUI optimization which you probably won't even find in developer options: https://piunikaweb.com/2021/04/19/m...ing-in-developer-options-try-this-workaround/

I see what you're saying there it does show a different account, but I signed in with the same email and password? I'm not sure how that could be possible to result with 2 different account numbers..
I purchased a global ROM version so shouldn't require a Chinese tool hopefully.
I'll try making a new Mi account and doing it that way.

You don't need to make a new Mi-account to do that if you are definitely sure it's the same account.
Logout both your phone Mi-account and the Unlock tool Mi-account and login both again.
Can read Unlock bootloader Guide with pictures here:
