Instagram Stories Zoomed In - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

At instagram app when I watch a story that contains a text near the edge it is usually cut because of the screen ratio of the device. I looked up at same story in iPhone X and it's not cut down.
I looked the same story at Samsung Note 8 and Huawei Mate 20 and they are also cut down but reasonable.
Is there any solution for this?

You can try using insta in Windows mode

instagram can't be use in window mode.

any suggestions?

I've noticed this too... stories seem to be cut off slightly. Does Instagram offer the "tap to fill screen" when you first install it? If so, maybe they wouldn't be cut off if we did not fill the screen.
Sounds like something that should be reported to instagram though....

Front Facing Camera...

Is anyone's front facing camera pretty sluggish and laggy when using it? I can snap photos fine, but when I'm displaying things through the front camera, it's pretty sluggish when moving about.
Thats because you are video chatting it'll laggy like that.

I don't do video chatting though. It is when I switch the camera from the back one to the front one that I experience lagginess.
Who said he was video chatting lol I didn't see that in op. To answer ur question I see some lagginess to tho not a big deal to me don't use it that much. It actually takes OK pics too.....in a good light setting

Yeah I think you're right. I just tested this out on my sister's Galaxy S 4G, and although they're completely different phones, I think the "lagginess" is just a limitation of the camera and not a defect. I implied in my OP that I had a defect for my FFC, but in reality, I think it's just made that way. It snaps photos fine so I can live with it.
Funny thing is, my old phone, an EVO 3D, didn't have nearly as much stutter or lag on the front facing cam. Oh well. Heh.
I'm not too distrubed by the lag....but I have another problem. Whenever I take a picture using the front camera. It takes it fine, but then instantly mirrors it (Right -> Left). So if someone was standing behind me on the right in the pic, when I capture it, it shows it fine for a second but then reverses it as soon as it goes to the little gallery icon on the bottom left. So tthen the guy looks like hes standing on the left. Any fix for this?
I found this annoying too! But then I discovered all I had to do was flip it in the Samsung photo editor app. Just click the share button and share with photo editor. The second arrow on the top shows rotation options and it looks perfect.

Are you talking about in the market? If you changed your DPI then you will have issues with market capability. As far as updating an app from a website, never heard of it.

Note II - Laggy and jerky?

I went to try out the Note II in store today - and couldn't believe how laggy it was... I have the Original Note, which feels much faster in comparison.
I noticed lag on
Home Screen - jerky movement
App Drawer - jerky again
Gallery - Took 10 seconds to open, very jerky scroll
Home Button - 3 or 4 seconds to return to home
My note doesn't lag on any of these, even with the new 3D Gallery app.
This was in the UK, O2 store. I even tried it on two display models and they were just as bad
I reminded me of the horrible lag I used to get on the old Galaxy S with 2.2
Anyone else noticed this?

I have 245 apps installed on my Note 2 and it screams.
I showed to one of my coworkers, who has the S3, and he was commenting on how much faster it was than his phone.
So I'm not sure what the problem is there. Some sort of horrible bloatware?

I hate lag & hope the reviews are correct that the Note2 is a game changer for Android sans the dreaded lag but did notice some YouTube Videos on ways to address stock device lag:

I'd also recommend people reboot the device if possible when testing it in stores..

I agree, some people take things a little to close to heart. But anyway in reply to the OP, I think that it was most likely because of everyone that uses the phone that goes through the store. I guarantee that thing has so many apps running in the background. If you go again, I say try to reboot it, and if you can't do that, try and close out as many apps as possible.
Obvious troll thread imo or the OP is a typical iPhone user in wich case he is not to blame as iPhones prevent you from using your brain
In defense of the OP I would say that I have noticed a very occasional lag once or twice when something has been running. For example running the premium version of printer share caused a massive drain on resources including battery and caused my device to hiccup. Also, I have noticed slowdowns with s-planner and netflix - both have frozen on me forcing at the least a force-close of the app and once a force reboot.
So, before too many people start jumping on the 'It's a troll, run for the hills' bandwagon, perhaps take a minute to realise that the stock device, while being simply awesome, fast, smooth and generally amazing is not completely bug free.
Just a thought.

My point exactly...
I had the same experience in the Vodafone store, the note 2 on display almost came to a halt. I tried holding down the home button to see if there were many apps running but it wouldn't even bring up the task manager. Now I KNOW the note 2 is a beast but an 'average' consumer might have been put off by it.
I still can't make my mind up between this and the S3 LTE version that also comes with 2GB RAM.
Oh come on guys, these in store demo unist are left on for days and days and days without reboot, people mess around with them all day, they are a prime example of a phone at its worse, ram usage will be high, apps won't have been closed properly or at all etc etc.
Dude, turn off Power Saving mode.

[Q] Taking screenshot of a specific area?

Hi all, I'm wondering if it's possible to take a screenshot of a specific area on the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. Like say I open a Kindle book and want to capture a specific image or diagram and paste that quickly into OneNote. What I usually do is take screenshots of the entire screen and crop those images in the photo editor, but it's a little tedious if I have lots of screen captures... I played around with the Microsoft Surface tablet in a store today and got a little spoiled with the stylus and ability to import screen captures of specific areas so effortlessly into OneNote lol.
I don't believe there's an app that will do that, yet anyway. Would be a nice feature though.
But keep looking and post back, as I'm sure there's many that would like to use such an app.
We are just stuck with cropping for the moment

Honor 8 pro stuttering and lag

There's a lot of micro stutter while using chrome, firefox and even many pdf readers.
Stuttering is also present while gaming. Yesterday, I tried playing temple run 2 on my honor 8 pro and it lagged like hell (yes, I'm talking about temple run 2). Even Vector 2 stuttered a lot.
For comparison, I ran the same apps on some other devices I had (redmi note 4, leeco 2) and found no stuttering or lag.
I got the phone just 2 days back and am thinking of getting it replaced or returned
I'm wondering if you guys are facing the same issue.

I did try other browsers (Samsung's browser, firefox, firefox focus), all with the same stuttering. I then used those apps on other devices and found no stuttering.
I've already sent a request for replacement, if the new device still has the stuttering, I'll mail them.
(We'll also have some solid evidence for the issue being replicated on multiple devices)

I got no stutter or lag using Firefox or playing games.

That Facebook lag is because of the buggy Facebook app.

Yeah I saw that but not sure if it offers the option to display the phone screen on one side of the desktop. I thought it was a tighter integration to just allow you to blow off windows and use the android desktop on your PC... Besides sharing notifications to windows as an option...

It does..it was one of the demos they showed..
SideSync isn't available anymore.
They made Samsung Flow which is similar and available in the Microsoft Store instead of the Samsung's website, and in the PlayStore.
The only drawback I noticed is that you can't have the phone locked while using it on the PC ; it dims the brightness to the max.
But it's probably an Android "issue" that Samsung isn't involved in. Before you could just did that after having unlocked the phone first which was better.

Used to use it on my Note 8 and it was flaky as hell. With the Note 10+ the way it connects is like trying to hold apart two very strong magnets, you can't hold them apart because the pull is so strong and they freaking snap together! Bulletproof instant connection. It was obviously my old phone that must have been the issue - I thought it was the SideSync software but - NO WAY!...

I swear it wasn't anymore for quite a long time, trying to promote Flow instead.
I regularly used it on windows, then received a notification that they'll discontinue the app for Flow.
It seems they changed their mind

Replying to myself here... lol - I just got scrcpy up and running, nevermind the question on this - the very best alternative in my opinion (see shot of window on the PC).... Sidesync on PC and phone both uninstalled!
Also - here's a great video on how to install scrcpy:

And also I am so annoyed that I didn't have the "launch command window here as administrator on the right click anymore - but here it is running powershell instead, even better very handy:
