AT&T S9 and Pie... - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Update: I found the answers and created a guide.
=================================================
I apologize if this is common knowledge somewhere, but with the Pie beta thread being 33 pages at the moment, it's a little difficult to find the information (can't use AT&T on XDA search).
Since it looks like I will be unable to join the Pie Beta as an AT&T user, is there any way to flash the Pie files from the Beta thread?
If not, what is the likelihood AT&T will actually push the Pie update in January? I've been on a Pixel and Nexus for my last two phones, so I haven't had to deal with this AT&T intervention...

Im also having a att s9 to which i was able to successfully flash the leaked beta pie files without any issue and also was able to unbrand it from att to xaa by a dailer code.

Great news, thank you!

Would it be possible to join the beta if I debrand? Also, would this affect my APN settings?

Is it possible for you to give information on the dialer code and more importantly which 9.0 firmware you used & what steps you took to get it working?

If I can debrand with a dialer code and join the beta, I wouldn't need to install the leaked version.

Curious to know if it's still true one loses WiFi calling capability if one does flash an AT$T with a beta or otherwise, non carrier firmware?
Thanks,

WiFi calling is not supported for FirstNet users. So I have no idea if it works.

That's odd, I don't have the notification for wifi calling. I have it under connection settings and the calling app but not the notification icon.

Google Pay didn't work for me, so i reverted back to BRJ5 (and got BRJ6 OTA yesterday).
can you confirm Google Pay works for you?

That's confusing,how can it have a mm build # and be 5.1.1 ?
have a look.
the MM beta is N920AUCU2BPB2, this is N920AUCU2APB2. coincidentally, N920AUCU2APB2 is the version all these various root methods are based on.
so, is this maybe an unreleased update from ATT? I can't really see any differences, and the phone works fine. I'm almost tempted to try one of those root files, but frankly I'm a little tired of wiping my phone when it gets buggy like chimera did to it.
That's the purpose and the fun of testing

I've tested those root files posted here in 5.1.1. None of them work. I flashed back the stock boot image and my N920A is still working fine. But I don't want to flash this MM Odin files because I don't want to loose everything that I have downladed. I know I can backup first, and I already did, but I prefer to wait for the official MM upgrade from AT&T.

Updated: Get your milk ready for official Oreo release (later)

4/23/2018 Update:
Seems Big Red made a big snafu in their announcement on their update page about the latest OTA being an Oreo update. Whoops!
http://www.androidguys.com/2018/04/2...alaxy-s7-oreo/
Also, they have fixed their software update page and removed all references to Oreo from the latest OTA:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/samsung-galaxy-s7-update/
It looks like we'll be seeing it before the end of May possibly:
https://androidcommunity.com/samsun...0-oreo-update-coming-in-a-few-weeks-20180424/
=========================================
Per Android Community, the finishing touches are being done on Oreo for the S7 family which includes those of us on Verizon's version of the phone as well as unlocked phones.
No firm date has been set yet, but it could be any day now.
https://androidcommunity.com/samsung-galaxy-s7-s7-edge-to-receive-android-8-0-oreo-update-20180418/
Per SamMobile, the US variants have been certified with Oreo.
https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s7-oreo-update-inches-closer
For many, this may not be a big deal, especially if you root and flash. But for those of us that have no need to root and flash custom ROMs, this is big news. But sadly, it probably also marks the last official upgrade for the S7s. We'll probably get one more year of security updates and then we're on our own at that point.
FYI: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/samsung-galaxy-s7-update,
the update hasn't been release just yet

Yes, there has been some misunderstanding at Verizon. The changelog for the BRC3 says Oreo and lists all the features but it's actually still Nougat OS. Can you share the screenshot from your device of the software info screen showing the Android OS and build no. both?

I definitely had an update applied in last two days at least that is BRC3 so looks like wrong changelog. Verizon support is clueless but is forwarding it to their IT team supposedly..
Edit: Also they mention April 1st security patch in Oreo/BRC3 changelog, I do have that as well but I think those can be pushed without OS update. None of the Oreo features are anywhere to be found though and still 7.0 according to about this phone.
or maybe its a multi-stage update.
an update to prepare for the update.

well,Ive tried to flash latest released firmware and format the whole disk of my phone and start over without sim or wifi and location,it just the same pop-up and requires a sim that match your phone's carrier. So, the only way is to get a sim even it is out of service or no service. And guys, there is already a custom pie rom for G965F/FD/N in this forum, go check it out!
here's the link of custom PIE rom for G965F/FD/N

AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates G975U

See Post #2 for the Link to Odin Files
It doesn't appear that Firmware.Science is updating their site any longer. I'm removing the link since it's useless to us now. I'll continue to try and get the Odin files as they drop and add them to post #2 for everyone
Understanding the Firmware labels
Here's a better understanding of how these are broken down
G=Galaxy S series
975U or F etc, the model of device
SQ, FX etc = CPU and model specific
U,S,E = Update, Security, Engineering, respectively
1,2,3,4,5 etc = bootloader rev(this is important!)
A = Pie rev 1(This starts off with "A" as the build that is the initially shipped on the device. S10 series is Pie)
(If you ever see a build that contains a "Z" such as this: U5ZSBA, that means the build is part of Samsung's Official Beta program. The "Z" in this context replaces the Android Version letter which hides what OS it actually is.)
R,S,T = Year (R is 2018, S is 2019, T will be 2020)
A,B,C etc = month (January A - December L).
1 - 9 and then A - Z =build compilation. This basically means how many builds there are in a month. They start at 1 and go to Z.
So G975USQU1ASBA would be
G975-U-SQ-U-1-A-S-B-A
G975U (Galaxy S10+ Carrier version), SQ (Snapdragon), U (Update), 1 (Bootloader version), A (Build Pie), S (2019), B (February), A (Build)
**You CANNOT downgrade to a lower Bootloader. So if you are on a Bootloader 2 rom, you can not go to a Bootloader 1 rom.

And this is worst and pointless thread if you can't flash and can't be released special files with this. This same like to tell, I give to anyone Lamborgini to try, but you can't drive, because I can't give tyres.

well the files are not public and cost a large sum.. this and possibly being sued by samsung as well as burning my source who ased me not to release its just not worth it.
i release plenty of other work for free so im not worried one bit.

But what if the rom of "Samsung's Galaxy Note10+ 5G (Verizon) SM-N976V " will be installed in the Note + 10 N9760 dual sim?
if am not wrong both of the use the same Snapdragon 855 , am I right ?
do you know if someone already changed the rom ?

Look on Facebook Marketplace, there's Australian model Note 10+ 5G's - both 256GB and 512GB variants - going for as low as AUD$900.
My first question is, surely there's a way to downgrade the latest Android Q security update back to when the bootloader could be unlocked? I've rooted every model Galaxy S from the first one right up to the S8, and am quite upset that this next device in my purchase history won't let me do with it the exact same things I've done to the eight other phones I've owned.
Last question...
When are the muppets who make these devices going to realise that paying almost $AUD2000 for a mobile phone should allow me to use it as I see fit?
