Am i the only one who is facing immense battery drain on the latest update 2.19????
When i was on 2.18, battery life was much stable for me, but ever since i got the 2.19 update, the battery drains about 10% overnight.
Sometimes, it is even large.
So i just wanted to ask whether it is just me or everyone is facing these issues???

Its even worse than my 2300mAh device.
I still hope that Asus remembers the battery bug. They have released OTA's, but they have introduced many more bugs.
From what i have read so far, the kernel is faulty. Now that we have our bootloaders unlocked, we can expect a good Dev to debug and recompile the kernel.
AOSP Android should come soon to Zenfone 2
Try clearing cache. Go to autostart manager and stop apps you don't use from starting at boot. In battery settings change your power management profile to smart saving or custom if you know what you're doing.
I keep Bluetooth, NFC, sync and location on always and don't face battery issues.
I haven't been having battery issues. I uninstalled most of the junk apps, so I wonder if you're seeing something from one of those.
Install GSam Battery Monitor and check on your app usage after a while.
on the 2.19 OTA, I left my phone idle for an hour and it drained 5% battery. Yikes!
Okay, So i got the culprit.
I have 2 Sims Installed. 1st one is a local Sim. Whereas the Second one is a Roaming one (National Roaming, not international) with a big "R" besides it.
So i just disabled the Second Roaming Sim from Dual Sim Settings, And bingo!!!. Battery drain stopped. The device seems to be constantly searching for a local network on the second sim.
Additionally, If you read the release note of the 2.19 OTA. You will see:-
7 Improve service stability
10 Improve signal bar stability for sim 2

So, i guess, that Asus improved the SIm 2 slot stability, which probably is forcing my device to constantly find a stable or local network.
Now i have Manually selected my operator. Lets See! :fingers-crossed:

I already use the Autostart manager. plus i have Greenify running on Non-Root mode.
I use the Balanced Mode. Provides Good performance for my needs.

Same here. Though i have not Rooted. I just uninstalled the apps that were uninstallable.
Will give Gsam a shot. Ty for the App suggestion.
I too am facing the battery issues and the other thing is that sometimes just randomly the 2nd sim stops working with the message that it's not installed...
So if the analysis is that it's the apps which drain it then can someone share a debloated rom... Got the bootloader unlocked for the TWRP now might as well use it..
2.18 was rough for me. After 4 complete charges it stabilized. Updated to 2.19, rooted, bootloader unlocked, and TWRP installed yesterday. 100% charge at 9pm last night. This morning at 6am it was down to 91%. Approximately 50 minutes of pandora streaming over cell data this morning and its down to 81% now. Until a fix or CM is released, I take my charger wherever I go.

Have you tried a factory reset yet. That would be the first thing I would try.

Hello,
I have recently factory reset my OP3 due to a battery drainage issue. Google play services started using around 30% of my battery and consequently my SOT decreased by a lot.
After the factory reset, I freshly installed of all my old apps, and I downloaded my photos from the Gdrive.
Unfortunately, since then my WiFi is acting strange. Whenever I start the phone, the WiFi is performing normal, but after a while my phone goes into deep sleep and my WiFi disables itself (just like i configuered in settings). However, when I wake my phone, my WiFi won't turn on and when I go to the WiFi settings the phone becomes extremely laggy.
I have already wiped my cache again but I don't know what else to do.
Any help is appreciated!
Kind Regards,
Same strange problem here,I must reboot phone to connect wifi.
I trying with 3 kernel, it's not kernel problem.
It's such a strange problem. I don't understand why this problemwould occur after a complete factory reset...
I had the same issue a few years ago with my HTC One M7.
By the way, my OP3 is completely stock running Android 8.0
Same problem with my 5T on 5.1.1. Weird thing is I haven't made any changes, just updated a few apps but none of them should be causing wifi issues and settings (battery history) to lag after sleep.

I have set wifi to always on and don't have this problem. May be the doze feature is affecting it in your case. Why don't you try the always on setting? For me it doesn't drain the battery also. So no harm in trying it.
And why settings not responding? I must touch home button in order to have working settings again.
I think it's Oxygen Os problem.

The problem does not occur if I set WiFi to always on. However, this uses way more battery in my case.
If i set WiFi to always on my sot decreases from 4-5 hours to 3-4 hours.
EDIT:
I also can't find this issue anywhere else on the internet.

Can't find anything either. You have any of these apps installed? Substratum, Microsoft Remote Desktop, Twitch. Updated these apps two days ago which is when I noticed this problem, haven't change anything else really. Updated router firmware too (Virgin Media).

I can only think of factory resetting again and checking the behaviour of wifi before installing any other apps and downloading photos. Then you will know whether an app or the downloading is the cause and take action accordingly.

No, I haven't installed any of those apps. However, since the factory reset I started using the regular Chrome instead of Chrome Beta.

I think so, yes.
I just disabled all third party apps, and the problem still persists
I have set wifi always on,and flash HolyDragon kernel, problem it's gone.
I don't know if kernel, or settings always on wifi, resolve my wifi connection.
I've been having the same problem too as of yesterday. Did a factory wipe and reinstalled Oxygen 5.0.1 but still having the issue after i reinstalled apps. going to try a factory reset again and not install or update any apps to see if maybe a recent app update is causing this.

IT didn't work for me. Right after flashing the OS back onto the phone and connecting to WiFi, i changed the WiFi setting for "Keep WiFi awake when asleep" to "only when plugged in" and after locking the screen and waking it back up a few minutes later it still wouldn't activate the WiFi; I had to manually go into the WiFi settings and turn WiFi back on.
On the bright side though, I did do some reading on the "Keep WiFi awake when asleep" setting and several sources said to leave it on "Always" since it actually drains more power turning on the WiFi radio when the phone wakes up. I've since changed that setting to Always and over the last two days I've noticed slightly less battery drain!
It happen to me too. Cant turn on wifi after waking up from deepsleep. Must reboot the phone. I had tried to clean everything , data, system, cache, everything and made a clean flash but it still happen ,only for 8.x android. I tried in Nougat and see no such problem. Im using oneplus 5t
Yea, I have same problem staring with oreo update. Can say, that I tried all kernels around, and some of them made wifi connecting faster or even reduced the number of crashes, but not completely. Sadly, I can't stay on those kernels, coz I have another problem, - iv got random reboots with most of them, only stock works... So every solution is inappropriate for me, and I reverted to nougat waiting for Android 8.1
Same problem here. I am on beta 35. Additionally I was on Franco kernel and had random reboots. Kernel back to stock no more reboots but still the wifi issue. I'll test the always on.
Hopefully it gets fixed in the next update. For now, I'm using the ''always on'' WiFi option.
Thank you all for the replies!
Hi guys, since my phone can't find any update, how can I force an update on this pixel 2 XL? Just got it and I never had a pixel before..
Can I install just the OTA via fastboot?
Or do I have to wait?
My phone is not unlocked and I want to try some updates because my battery life is pretty poor (5 hours SOT vs 8 hours of many of you from XDA)
As long as you have the oct update you will get it eventually. It appears they are cumulative now.
nor did I receive any updates in the last 4 days. I was angry and forced through the sideload. the second time in two months. sad and frustrating
Even I faced the same issue but if you opted for Android Beta program then opt out. You will get the update the very next second.
Just sideload the update via adb. Easy to do no need to wait.

Yes, https://developers.google.com/android/ota - instructions at top of download page. Be sure your Android ADB Tools are setup.
Basically, you get phone into fastboot, then Recovery with volume up, power press. Choose Apply Update from OTA. From DOS Command Window
started in Android folder, type: adb sideload ota.zip
Reboot system after done. This will not wipe your phone.
I wouldn't be in such a rush to get the latest ota. My battery life is not as good as before after flashing. 2 days now and it's noticeably worse.
I also have an issue with notification badges not clearing until I press clear all

Not sure if it's because it takes another few days for the adaptive battery to re-assess my use but with similar usage and screen on time, I have 15% less battery than this time yesterday. Might not seem much but it bugs me.
Otherwise it seems fine, have an issue with night mode being permanently on, but that is fixed by turning dark mode off in messages.
My notification icons sticking is also annoying. Maybe I need to reset

I don't have any issues with the November update. Yesterday I had 28% left with 1 day and 9 hours on battery and 6.5 hours screen on time. WiFi, mobile data, YouTube, XDA, Twitter, some Facebook and browsing using Chrome. I think it's pretty good. If dark mode in messages is on then yes, the "system dark mode" is set back after a reboot, but it doesn't bother me.

How did you achieve that?! What am I missing? I'm stuck with 5.5 hours and it's dead.. no AOD and nothing too bad for the battery.
Even Gsam didn't find out anything and said it was my display with 87%.. I dont know..
I wasn't getting it for the last couple of updates.
Clear Google Play Services, reboot - check for update
VIOLA!
*your mileage may vary*

I have to admit I only have this phone since June, so it's still "new" and the battery is probably still running on 200% ?. I'm using a rooted stock ROM and ExKernel. Since I got the phone I'm have brilliant battery life. It will probably get worse as the battery ages though... ?
I also had to sideload it manually for some reason. Everything is fine so far (even the battery life) except for some icons that are now using a white background circle and this is very annoying. Is there a way to bring back my "old" icons ?
Note: Only some icons have that problem.

I think you'd mean un-enrolling from the beta program, got this tip elsewhere and update dropped in in minutes.
I must say since the Nov update the memory management is terrible, even launcher gets killed when I'm browsing the web or watching YT. I also encountered a hot phone and fast battery drain once, but that was gone after a reboot (didn't see it again in ~2d).
Google has to fix this memory issue fast for p2 & p3, 4GB should enough, (not an apple fanboy but look how they manage with just half of it)
I got the update, but strangely my charge time is loooooooong. It gets better after a few minutes, but still I get the bug anyway.
I am not receiving any notifications when the screen is off.
When I turn my screen on, all my notifications come through.
I am using PNF No Root and it works fine when the screen is on.
I have disabled battery optimization for the apps I want to receive notifications for including PNF.
I am using stock Oreo 8.1.
Any help would be appreciated.
So far I have tried.
- Factory reset
- Disabled battery optimization for all apps
- Turned off Moto Display
- Sync and notifications are turned on for all apps
- PNF heartbeat is set to 1 minute
The problem still persists.
Can anyone help me with this issue?
Update.
Notifications work as expected when my phone is connected to the charger. No delays.
It's most likely a doze issue. Is doze disabled when connected to the charger?
I have disabled battery optimization for all apps, which didn't work.
I don't have access to a computer so I can't disable doze using adb.
Maybe a bug with the December update, OPPS28.85-13-4, not overriding battery optimization ?

Yes.
