i want to remove the extra black bar on bottom
that shows up because some apps are not supporting 19:9
the app you sent is doing different thing

in nokia 6.1 plus this is the solution :
You have to first go into multitasking or the Overview mode and then wait for a button to appear on that particular app window. When you tap that button, the app then reopens and fills the entire screen
but mi a2 lite nothing

This app only auto- hides nav-bar and notifications bar, setting apps on immersive mode. But doesn't stretches the screen to fit that black space

I'm not sure. You can try. If it doesn't work, you can revert to default settings by inserting 0,0,0,0 in the parameters.

it's not the problem of the phone. the apps you are using are probably outdated, either update them or you can manually decompile them and edit their manifest to force them to use 2:1 resolution

Hello, I just bought Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite and I discovered same problem, typically for older apps (older version of Tapatalk or Boat Browser). I really want keep those apps in the fullscreen mode.
On Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus (on AOSip) I easily fixed it in Expanded Desktop menu in Settings, unfortunatelly I am not able fix it on current A2 Lite. Are there way to activate immersive mode on this phone? I have root/xposed.
Thank you for advice or tip and sorry for my English.

Tapping fingerprint scanner does not bring up navigation bar anymore on Nougat

I just notice that tapping on the fingerprint to bring up the navigation bar in full-screen app does not work anymore on Nougat. I don't know if this happens exclusively to my device or not so I'm here asking if anyone notice such a thing as well.
I know that we can have other app to use the scanner as the home button but to bring up the navigation bar like so is not an option anywhere.

It worked here with Clash Royale.
Yeah. It doesn't work anymore in landscape mode fullscreen apps. Strangely it works in portrait mode still.
I've posted in the motorola forums about this. Seems to me like an oversight by the developers.

Tried with photos on landscape and it didn't work. Only portrait.

Small navbar mod

Hello. There is someone who can do mod reducing navbar?
I too would like this but hopefully without root since I'm on Verizon and I don't we'll ever get root

Does changing the display size help with it? Ignorant that they don't auto hide like my g3 and g4 did. They do while in the camera

I would also love this but pretty sure it will require root as the navbar is controlled through systemui.apk and any edits to that require root

Could we not use adb to somehow hide them? I know on some phones, for example, the s8 is capable of hiding it through adb. Just a thought...

As you can see I've hidden the nav bar. After 3 second the nav bar goes away. The app does not fill now of the screen. But there's a section to swipe up on to reveal the nav bar again. That's best I've found. See attached screen shots for examples.

By setting the Display Size too small under Settings, the navbar can be smaller than default.
But I have another question, I'd like to use clear themes so the whole system UI is clear (not dark or black), but I'd like also whatever clear theme I use, to keep the navbar ALWAYS black, which isn't the case with all the clear themes I've tried.
Some apps follow the on screen app color to make the navbar the same color, but some apps such as xda labs, quickpic, imdb etc. just won't follow and therefore, the navbar remains white or clear (if a clear theme is applied).
I've tried quite a bunch of navbar apps from PlayStore, couldn't find one that would suit my needs, and I don't want to try Substratum app/themes on the G6, cause I've had some "bad" experiences on my previous phones.
So do you guys know if there's a way to mod this?
Thanks and have a nice day.
Interesting question, I'm with you on making the navigation bar (shorter I guess) does anybody know of a way to get fully immersive? I always liked our controls and having something on the screen I don't always need kinda bugs me a little

Full Bezel option missing on new Android 10 update as always.

And, non of the previous method on Android Pie works to bring it back. Seems the activity that is used to enable this itself has been removed from the Android 10 cause I can't find any through Nova Launcher. Do share if anybody has managed to enable or disable the full bezel in Android 10.

Absent, you have to use software from a 3rd party to enable it, i use the Nova Launcher method on Android 9, it will be a shame it that no longer works as well.

I assume you've tried Nacho Notch. Doesn't work?
I was having the same issue with my repaired Nokia 8.1 (flashed with clean Android 10). And the Nova Launcher option was not working anymore (setting not available). A Google session found this thread and the solution there works for me:
Simply download 'settings database editor' from the play store and alter the 'notchfullbezel' setting. I have a UK TA-1128 and it works perfectly for me
Just change the option notch_full_bezel from 1 (black background) to 0 (your wallpaper) and there the notch is.

You are most probably using 3 rd party Launcher.?
As "more options" is only to access Android /Google swipe
navigation or choose Samsung swipe gestures
This is greyed out as Google gesture is not compatible with 3rd party launchers eg Nova Prime... etc
If you go to your stock Samsung launcher and from stock launcher, back to Settings /Display /Navigation.... "more options " is enabled.
Good luck.

I think you misunderstood OP.
The problem solved was the issue, that he could not access
"more options" in Navigation. It was greyed out.
I advised him to go to Samsung stocked launcher
and within Samsung stock launcher
"more options" will be enabled.
This is what he meant with "Problem solved"
He now knows how to access relevant
"more options" in Settings /Display / Navigation
His thread heading basically says it all.
He has solved his issue.... on how to access "more options"
Good luck.

as per, my previous post explained .
It only works in Samsung stock launcher and if you go to your stock launcher ,
SETTINGS /DISPLAY /NAVIGATION the "more options " should be accessible and you should be able to enable it and access the following/ next menu .
Take note,
You can only use Google 's navigation in Samsung's stock launcher .
Overall , no 3 rd party launcher is supported unless you root etc .
Apparently ,eg Nova Prime launcher dev , stated they are waiting for Google to fix issue .???
That apparently is going to take time ....if Google will fix it .
good luck

Yes, I'm aware of users saying /claiming it works
with Lawnchair.
With root or not, i personally cannot say.
You obviously know more .
To me i have tried Google navigation.
Personally it's.. nothing
special to stress about., if not working.!
With Samsung gestures and Samsung One hand operation + combined
I can basically achieve same gestures plus many more.!
Actually even better results.
Anyway thats my personal opinion.
Good luck.
Dont know why folk are saying this is googles problem?, 3rd party launchers work with the new navigation on Pixel Phones, Also my Asus Zenfone 5Z with android 10 works with 3rd party launchers with the new navigation. I would say this is Samsung has not updated their base to include googles fix.
Can we still use gestures on the Navigation buttons? This used to work with Android 9. I dont want to hide the Navigation buttons but still want to be able to swipe on home button to switch between apps. I miss that dearly.

Why I'm saying it is Google issue, is because i read on the Nova, reddit
sub forum , Nova 's dev, indicating, compatibility can only be fixed by an Google update etc etc.
So for me as I'm using Nova Prime, i accept his explanation..!
So if Google has already patched it
and Samsung sitting on it, fine. !
For me personally i could not care less, who 's responsibility
it is... or if "they" fix it or not.
I only assisted OP. to solve his dilemma /question
I rather use Samsung Gestures combined with One Hand Operation +
But that's my personal preference. .
Good luck.

I would suggest if you really want Navigation buttons and swipe.....
Use combo.....
Firstly
go to Device./Settings /Display /Navigation / and choose the navigation buttons option.
Combine it with Samsung One hand Operations + app,
(Should find it in Play Store ?, as i always updated it from Play Store)
if you haven't got it installed.
Install and set your swipe preferences.
So now you got Samsung navigation buttons enabled and swipe gestures of your choice, all in one..

Alternative to hide navbar in Android 11 (without root)?

Does anyone have found a way to hide navbar in Android 11 without root? overscan or fullscreen ADB command still unusable un beta 3 :crying:
Few days ago Google confirmed that it was not a bug not able to use overscan (Status: Won’t Fix (Intended Behavior))
But there are not any comments on innmersive mode... Still in latest public Android 11 version youn can't set innmersive mode with adb command (adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=*), it just keep reseting the settings to inmerssive.none=*
Do we have then to finally root or install custom 11 ROM to be able to hide the navbar?

I know... Maybe Google is forcing developers to properly adjust apps to fit screen size and to the use of the gesture bar.
This immersive app is working, but I don't like to much the behavior: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=immersive.duna.com.immersivemode

Did you check out what the dev said on Google Play regarding that? If not, you should. The answer is there.
P. S. Quoting me won't help as a) I'm not the dev, and b) I don't use the app.
