GCam with Night Sight working :) - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Themes, Apps, and Mods

So I was going through Motorola One Power forums and they reported an APK which had Night Sight and was working on their phone.
So I downloaded the apk and tried on my Redmi 3S, and voila, Night Sight was working.
The camera app in general lags a lot and many times crashes while processing HDR+ in the status bar. I force close the camera app after each photo since it doesn't seem to take 2 photos continuously. Your mileage may vary especially if you have the 3 GB RAM model.
Ok so here's my current configuration -
- Redmi 3S 2GB RAM
- DotOS v2.5, Android 8.1 Oreo (September 14 build)
- GCam mod enabler for Oreo ROMs (its the magisk module)
1. Download the APK from here - GoogleCamera_6.1.009.215420794-beta2.apk
2. Install and open, grant all the permissions.
3. Go to More > Settings (swipe left, skipping the video mode), disable Live Lens to reduce a bit of lagging.
4. Go to More > Night Sight and enjoy
What's working
Night Sight
HDR+
Photo Booth (partially)
What's wrong
- As usual, front camera produces green images
- Photo Booth doesnt crash, but can't really work until green selfie is fixed
- Video mode crashes
- Taking 2-3 continuous photos force closes in mine (2 GB RAM). Please try with 3GB models and report here

First one is with an old GCam with HDR+ off
2nd one below is with HDR+ turned on, using an old GCam mod
3rd one is new GCam with Night Sight

Using 3gb variant. Night mode working like a charm. But lagging too much

App was not installed
I am using pixel experience 9.0 on redline 3s prime the app was not installing let me know what's wrong with this

Video & front camera works well?? What about battery consumption while using night sight mode??
I have havoc os (official) with android 9.0, installed Gcam6.1 but it can't record video, can't take photo when flashlight is turned off, (auto/on is working perfect).
Another big problem is battery consumption, I lost about 10%/11% of battery within just 2minute of running this Gcam.... I'm afraid that I can't find the solution.

By gcam enabler mod you mean cam2 API enabler right??

I used android marshmallow how can I use it.please explain it.

Night Sight works on LOS Pie for the version in the OP. The front camera gives a black or green tint though.

try the other link posted by Zero73 in this thread, it installs a stand-alone version apart from the default GCam on Pixel Experience ( 9.0, Pie)
second link is working for me, first one from OP fails to override the default camera app.

Google Camera Mod (Oreo/Pie/10)

Since everyone on the huge OnePlus 3 thread gets tetchy if you raise queries about other phones, I decided to start a discussion thread. What have your experiences with these mods been, and which variations work best for you?
Personally, I've opted for the recent Google Camera Pixel Mods by @Arnova8G2 as they seem to give the best all-round functionality on this phone. I can switch between the various mods and configs without a hitch, and portrait mode works a charm. I find that the main Arnova mod (GCMod5) doesn't seem to work well on this phone in Portrait mode, either failing to take a pic without HDR + or giving greenish selfies with HDR+ active; his Pixel Mod, on the other hand, works perfectly.
Google Camera Pixel Mod links: Original version (more options in advanced); v1 (improved video stabilisation).
Recommendation: If you want detailed main and selfie cam pictures, set the model config to "Nexus 5x" instead of "Nexus 6P"; I was dissatisfied with the selfies on the latter config, but after reading this by B-S-G, I switched and all was well. The main camera config, as with the actual Nexus phones, is exactly the same.

Oreo: MGC_5.1.018_tolyan009_v1.4.1-test6.apk
Pie: MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2e+.apk (no libs)/(w/libs)/(dark menu w/libs)
10: MGC_7.2.014_Parrot043-v3.apk ; MGC_6.1.021_mi6 edition _v7.7a (6.1 interface, plenty of libs, XML compatibility).

Yeah same thing on ZUK Z2 Pro with same gcam mod, all of them ... No matter that Camera2API is there ... Just not working ... Period ...

I tried and the max recording fps still 30 - I think is something related to the camera driver. The dev of the ROM's need to fix it

I tried on my device with Cosmic OS from 20/01 and everything works except for the portrait mode on front cam where the shots have some greenish effect.

This "Pixel2Mod" doesn't work as well for this phone as the "PixelMod". Greenish front HDR+, followed by crashes; plus, all the model/HDR+ configuration options are gone.
@Arnova8G2, if you could add a toggle to fix the greenish/pinkish tint on the back camera's "HDR+ on" mode, and perhaps stick in your "improve photos in low light" toggle, the original "PixelMod" would be the best GCam mod for this phone, hands down.

Everything working except for still greenish effect on front camera portrait mode, and no hdr+ on front camera.
I suggest you guys to do a clear cache/data on every install.

I know that it works on AEX 5.1 but that ROM seems to be buggy for me , I did not like it. I use RR v5.8.3 for a long time since it is very stable and battery life is good but I tried to install Google Camera in that ROM , no luck..
Does any of the Nougat ROMs for Zuk Z2 Pro supports camera2api ? anyone knows?

I don't think any Nougat ROM for this phone supports Camera2API. It was kinda a big deal when it was annouced for AEX 5.1. What version of 5.1 was "buggy" for you? The latest official version has issues, but the New Year's Eve beta works great.

The last version works really slow for me.. for example double tab to wake feature works with 1-2 seconds delay. Same as pressing power button to wake device up works with delay.. Wifi toggle also same.. I mean in general feeling ROM was quite slow compared to RR Nougat ROM. I saw your post about new year's eve version in another topic , I downloaded it and tried to install but somehow same gapps which was working in latest version did not work in new year's eve version.. Can you tell me which gapps (with release date of gapps) did you flash exactly?
Last 2 days I keep switching between ROMs to check which one is most stable.. I should say that definitely Stock ROM with Android 8 is the fastest and most stable one. But it is very frustrating that you can not use Google Camera in that ROM , such an annoyance.. howcome ZUI developers did not include camera2api in Oreo version , i could not understand

Looks like my front camera doesn't work at all. When I put it to hdr+ enhanced the app just crashed. When hdr+ is on either the app doesn't process the photo or I get a completely green picture. When hdr+ is off I just get a green picture. Log attached

I'm sending this MatLog using the apk version "Arnova's v7beta9".
I just activated HDR + Improved it does not work on the front camera, it closes the application or sometimes it renders the image without loading the bar, I can not portrait mode on the front with redmi 5 plus vince.

I'll started to try camera mods, this looks great for functionally on my phone, but have some glitches on my phone.
Phone: Redmi 5 Plus Global
Camera sensor: Sony IMX 486
Front sensor: OV5675
Rom: Xiaomi.eu latest
Camera2API enabled
Finally the burst mode working "good", this mod will be super when is done.
Rear camera: So the camera screen is freezing for long seconds, when moving a bit more, shaking the phone. Looks a bit the exposition and the light couse this.
After this need to wait some seconds 10-15 and the live preview and the cam working again.
I thinking at the first time and off the auto rotation setting, because a lot of times only need to rotate the phone 90 degree and crashed. But this not solved the problem
And a lot of times get FC.
Front camera: make a green glitch picture (not a real picture, looks when the photo is damaged and overall a green mishmash)

I've actually never got any FCs on my phone running AEX, maybe because my camera sensor is omnivision

I still face the issues with my front camera though

Guys, a gcam with night sight for essential phone allegedly also working for vince. Can anyone verify it, I can't cause im in rr oreo still waiting for rr pie update.

Things that don't work are:
Front cam:
- Portrait.
- HDR
Back cam:
- Sphere: force close
- Slow motion.
Working:
- Night sight. You need to exit cam and open it again if you will be taking more than one pic. Otherwise it will keep processing HDR forever.
- Portrait with back cam
- Panorama
-Video recording with back cam at 60 fps
- Video recording with from cam
- Regular pics.
Everything else I have not tried or forgotten. I am on havoc. Btw, night sight... Wow.. excellent.

Gcam 6.1.021 not saving front camera photos. Videos and everything works just no photos being saved. Anyone know a fix?

Latest parrot's 7.3 working all ok on android 10, even slowmo.
Only thing not working is selfie portrait, and for regular selfies you have to disable HDR else ir doesn't works.

There isn't one for the 5z yet.
Dude your front camera works fine with gcam 6 versions ? If it does give me the link for it...
Won't be available till pie update.
Night sight works on 5z with bsg mod for mi8 along with viewfinder but the whole app itself is very laggy and takes lot of time to capture pic..reason being its made for pie so guess we'll have to wait till january
Also no camera 2 api full support yet so we need to enable that as well somehow i' don't know yet

guys download the note 9 or s9 gcam
It really worked
Selfie and portrait improved drastically

after installing it u have to change the gcam app settings a little bit
After installing it open settings go to B S D MODE settings then open model: then select pixel ll XL then after that enable portrait mode on all devices
It will work check it out

Tried the app and modified the settings like you mentioned..but I am getting front cam images in green colour..had reset the app twice and tried but no luck

Mine works pretty well
Idk why it's not working for you
Try to play with settings a little bit
If anything doesn't work download note 9 version and try that
Pie update came when will night sight gcam will come

Asus doesnt give full camera to api.. but it does give some basic camera 2 api features... So we can use used gcam mods

Asus has added full Camera 2 API support in the previous update.

Can't save Lens Blur photos taken with Gcam

I can't seem to save Lens Blur photos taken with Gcam in any way: I take them, I see the photo in the thumbnail in the camera, but they are nowhere to be found on the phone.. It happens with every Pie rom (I am on AEX now, but same thing happened with PE and Havoc).. What could this be? Any other type of photos get saved except Lens Blur ones.. help me, please!
For some reason Lens Blur doesn't works on Pie ROMs, only Oreo.

Syberia 2.2 Gcam 5.1
Less blurred background - standard photo with Ethanced HDR+
One with more blurred background - Lens blur mode
But i had to wait a few seconds as camera had to process the lens blur (there was a notification containing progress bar)

I"ve just tried with Gcam 6 and works fine as well. This is how that progress bar should look like
Gcam 5 - com.google.android.Pixel2Mod

As for the patches. Syberia developer and creator of the rom - sys01 integrated some patches in latest version so there is no need to install them. I used one patch on older version of Syberia but im guessing that all the changes were removed because of OTA update (so i count it as no external patches were used)
Besides - these patches are as far as i know mainly to fix problematic front camera on global model (this is the variant i have) so in theory shouldn"t have any impact on back Lens blur mode
