Hi,
I have a Moto G5S which i had to replace the screen couple of months ago So i purchased a screen on ebay being advertised as OEM.
Replacing screen went well and all was working fine till phone was updated to Oreo 8.1 (OTA update).
Now touchscreen is not working.
Phone was not rooted and all was original OS.
I have done a bit of reading and not sure i know what to do.
Is it possible to downgrade to Nougat !?? Has anyone else had this issue? what is the solution please?
Thanks

By the way, don't attempt to flash Nougat firmwares if you've already installed the Oreo OTA update. It'll brick your device. This includes Nougat custom ROMs.

In the tradition of the firmware threads by @vsriram92 ... here is the full initial update zip.
Honor 6X (US version) model: BLN-L24C567
Firmware: BLN-L24C567B110
Updated Link 2017-09-09 MEGA-FULL-OTA
Rollback Package from Android 7.0 to 6.0: MEGA-ROLLBACK
You can also download both from Huawei at hihonor.com in their support area.
Thanks @adomol, repository updated with appropriate credit.
Is this the Android 7 update from the 6.0.1 ????
No, this is the stock Marshmallow firmware that shipped with the 6X.
Can this be used to downgrade from Nougat to Marshmallow? Or will it brick? Just figured I'd ask before I try, I'm stuck in a bit of a jam right now, and no firmware I've tried will apply successfully (fails at 5%). So I figure that I might have better luck going back to the stock MM that the device came with.
Edit: It looks like the download link is invalid. Any mirrors?

@AnonVendetta
Thanks guys, but I was able to go back to MM yesterday, with the help of private messages from @adomol. It involved using a small rollback package and a large full package. The rollback went fine. I may or may not upgrade back up to Nougat, got some prep work to do and things to test. I've only had this device for a few days so I don't know the ins and outs of upgrading/downgrading firmware on Huawei. I'm more familiar with Samsung and Odin.

It is good that you downgraded to MM.
You'll get used to honor devices pretty quickly.
All the best

Hello,
I'm considering going back to the stock ROM in my moto z play XT1635-02 retla1st but I would like to know if I would have a problem installing the RETAIL version when receiving OTA's or some other problem.
I currently have the bootloader unlocked and a compilation that is not the official one but I want to remove the root and receive the updates without any inconvenience.
best regards

I do not know if you can downgrade from a 7.1 ROM to a 6.x Stock via RSD and have your phone usable. With some phones if you downgrade to MM you brick it.
If it survives, you would then need to find a way to lock the bootloader.
In the same Android versión it's possible install a retail ROM?

I believe if your phone (bootloaders) is 7.x you can RSD 7.x and if phone is 6.x you can RSD 6.x .

Anyway to root this US model?
Oh, absolutely. I rooted mine in December.
Don't. There is no benefit to it and it only causes problems. Wait until there is full firmware available and you've already upgraded to official Oreo.

EMUI 8.0 (with Android 8.0) is already in beta. So, I think the stable release will come out in a few months. You won't have to wait till June 2019 ?.

Do you mean rooting then installing a different rom causes problems or just rooting by itself?

In order to root you first need to unlock the bootloader and FRP. Once this has been done, it cannot be undone. Any attempt will likely result in bootloops or brick.
At this time, it will prevent you from being able to apply any OTA updates and voids whatever warranty you might have had.
With root, however, you can do a couple of neat things like remove the bloatware. Most of that can be removed without root, but there are a couple things. Add-free youtube? There's an apk out there that doesn't require root for that. Apply a different kernel that allows you to tweak performance or battery consumption? Doesn't exist and the phone's pretty good at performance and battery life as it is anyway. Oh, and snapchat won't work on root.
One really great thing you can do with root is flash the AOSP or OpenKirin rom. They're beta, so your experience might be better or it might be worse than stock.
Was there something else you wanted to do with root that you can't do without it?
I've never owned an Android device without root, but I'm regretting rooting this one. I'm looking to try out OpenKirin, but since my phone actually works for the time being, I'm hesitant.

So is there anyway to update L24 US model to Oreo beta? How can I get the beta ROM? I want to update to RR Oreo but all the I go seems to be for Indian L21 version. Can Huawei Firmware finder give me the update? I have Emui 5 and need Emui 8 with project treble FW to go to RR

As I understand it, you need to use the guide to upgrade to L21 and then flash RR Oreo from there. From what I've see elsewhere in the forums, one person has done it successfully and one person has bricked.
I've rooted many phones over the years but this one hasn't been fun. Unlocked bootloader, rooted and installed TWRP basically the day it was available. I didn't read one of the postings correctly one day and soft bricked my L24 trying to RELOCK and flash stock recovery. Long Story short I gave up and called customer support this past Sunday and started a warranty ticket. They sent me a packing slip via email. My package was handed to UPS driver at 12:45 Monday afternoon and my phone is already in route back to me for delivery tomorrow. I think I'm going to pass on unlocking and rooting until there's stock firmware released. Good luck if you choose to root.....
hi guys

Neither me, since I owned an Android, I rooted. But the the question now is? Is it worth to lose the warranty and OTA updates now that Huawei has been banned in US? I owned the Honor 7x since a year, it works just perfect, but there are some apps that i would like to use that require root, like Tinkore keymapper and a DIY gamepad. Again, is it worth it?
Hello guys!
I just started learning how to root my one plus 5t and in the middle of the proces i bricked it , found an software online that unbricks your phone and i got it back at android 7.1.1 and oxygenOS 4.7.4.
I want to put it back to the highest android and the newest available oxygen os for the 5t. But the update function doesnt work or to be precise it says that the newest version is already installed. I tried to manualy update it but when i tried it says update failed.
If anyone has more experience ( practicaly everyone ) i would be grateful for your help
Good day

The official ROM, and working TWRP Recovery.
If you would do exactly the same as mentioned in the post , probably you will get Android Q along with TWRP installed.
Thanks to me later.
Hello,
I have a Brazilian G8s currently running February security patches on ver. v10b-BRA.
Unfortunately LG Brazil is ignoring us and has not even given a estimated date for the release of Android 10 on the phone, so I came to ask for your help hahahah
The only method I have seen that seems like it would work is to install a leaked Beta using "activity launcher" as described in this forum post but I would like to use a more stable release of A10 if possible.
I have rooted an Android phone a few years ago, so if that is required I believe I could do it, it would just be a lot easier to have some kind of guide to follow, as I have found a lack of resources regarding this kind of firmware flash on the G8s...
Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help me out! I just want native dark mode and gesture navigation hahahah
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g8/how-to/rooting-g8s-guide-t4044193 there is the rooting guide, it works flawlessly on EU version of G8S. I am not sure which firmware and its magisk_patched.img should you use, maybe some from beta? Hopefully they will later deliver Android 11 in Brazil... https://www.androidauthority.com/android-11-update-tracker-1155652/

I am not sure if this works on BRA G8s, even if it is an EAW model.
Tried it anyway just now but the adb reboot bootloader line on cmd says there is no device found, even with the phone with developer mode etc. turned on...
Thanks for your help anyway, I will try unlocking the bootloader again later and update the post if it works!
