I'm a fresh new user of Lineage OS. I've already made first "OTA" update and I didn't like it because it has taken around 0,5GB of storage permanently. At first I thought that maybe there's some update file .zip left, but I can't find any. Is it normal?
In MIUI update actually free some space (by cleaning cache or something).
I've got Xiaomi Redmi 4X with 16GB internal storage.
I would recommend this app see what storage space you left in each partition.

I'm not sure how it's gonna help me. I didn't take a note how big was every partiton before update. And even if I knew, I wouldn't know what to do. All I know, I had 4,78GB usable strorage before update and only 4,35GB after. And I don't know if I can delete anything to get it back. Or if it's gonna take another 0,5GB after every weekly update I make.
Android partitions are set and they don't change when a ROM gets installed, unless of course someone changes it manually through some commands. Even then not many people do it because it is risky.
Have you installed any Google Apps packages? Why I'm asking is because the OpenGApps can de-bloat some of the Lineage OS apps during its installation process.

I'm not saying partition were changed.. I just looked in Settings on my Internal storage before and after update and there was 450 MB less of available space after update.
Yes, I've installed OpenGapps Pico, but this package don't de-bloat any apps. I had all Lineage stock apps before and after update.

You use the OTA updater in settings? The button you hit to install, now is named delete. You can also select to automatically delete after install.

Yes that was it. Thanks mate. I feel so stupid.
I was looking for some zip in internal memory. I would never guess to look in Updater App.

Sometimes when I flash new ROM gapps install automatic when I login Google play. Sometimes I install them one by one. What's going wrong and does not install auto?
Sent It From Outer Space.
Not all roms are made to auto install your apps. If Im not mistaken that is a sense rom doing and any rom that i not sense based wont auto download is my theory.
Jelly time has auto install, but now I'm running code fire and i have to install one by one. Always does clean install.

AOSP and AOKP roms, such as CM based roms need gapps to be flashed. Some of these roms have the gapps package included in the zip file, that is a decision of the dev or cook who does the job. All of the Sense roms, do not need gapps to be installed as they are built from stock roms and are modified versions of a stock rom ported from other device or not.
Hope it helps
Always flash the gapps pack. But sometimes when i signed in Google play, the app that was installed before full wipe, installed automatically.

Ok. I think I see what you're saying now. It's not gaps that you're talking about; its the automatic restore of other apps.
People have said that you need to flash the ROM and gapps together, without rebooting the phone in between.
That's am talking about. But installing without reboot between is not the solution.:sly:

Did you back up, either using Titanium Backup (or similar app) or nandroid? If not, you'll need to install everything manually using the "My Apps -> All" tab in the Play Store.

Yeah i know the manual way. When i use jellytime ROM (now i use codefire X) all apps restore from app store, without backup with titanium or similar program.

App2zip from play store is the coolest app for restoring apps after full wipe.

So I noticed my phone only had 1Gb of memory left so I was going to go through and delete some stuff. I have tried with multiple file browsers, I am s-off, rooted, and running Ecliptic. Any ideas on what I should do?
Sent from the One and Only
You should probably just uninstall some unused apps. Do it in settings-apps.
What are you trying to delete? Things in your "external storage" or system files?
It let me uninstall apps. But it won't let me delete anything I have downloaded or transfered to the phone. I can't delete music, TB backups, or nandroid backups. I'm a little leary to download another rom and start fresh since I only have 1Gb left . This just started happening. I go through about once a week and delete unneeded files.

Why would 1 GB left matter for a new ROM? When you wipe to install another ROM your internal storage will be cleared.

Downloads and things will probably stay, but you can delete those in the new ROM.
I figured out what it was. It was the per app hacking module in exposed installer that was causing this.

OK, I'm in a bit of a pickle and am hoping that someone with more knowledge can help me out. This is what I did.
Rooted the phone
Installed FreeGee
Installed TWRP through FreeGee
Copied a new rom to SD card
Entered TWRP and ERASED EVERYTHING BEFORE MAKING A BACKUP
Couldn't load rom from SD card
When navigating through the TWRP directory, there is a folder titled SD card. I thought my ROM would be in there, but it is not. I know I should have done two things that I didn't.
Backup my data
Copy the ROM to root folder like the instructions said to,
But I didn't do those thing. Now, I have a phone that will enter TWRP, but I cannot get it to find any ROMs I put on the SD card. Is there anything I can do to remedy this situation that I have caused?
Thanks an advance for your ideas.
Try connecting the phone to your computer and manually copying over another ROM.
If you didn't copy it to external card, and you wiped internal, then you don't have an operating system and need to use LG flashtool to get back to stock.

It is definitely on the external card, but I cannot see it via TWRP. I am getting ready to use flashtool to see if that fixes the problem. I will update my progress.
Thanks.

If you are using the hacked TWRP go up a level a couple of times and look for ext-card.

The TWRP that I am using was the one click install from FreeGee. It looks like this is not the hacked TWRP. When going up as many levels as I can, this is what I get. For future reference, do you know where I can get the hacked TWRP?
Current Progress - In the process of downloading LGE980AT-01-V10g-310-410-APR-03-2013.zip to use with LG Flashtools. Not the fastest server, but am very thankful that someone is hosting this file.

Tap at the top where it says "Internal Storage." It should let you switch to the external SD.

When I do that, I can only choose internal storage. I'm guessing that's one of the reasons there is a hacked TWRP.

IIRC, the hacked TWRP is merely to ensure that the Official CM builds (which are marked for e986 only) can be installed on any LGOG Pro phone. You should still be able to see the external SD even with the FreeGee TWRP. Try fooling around in TWRP a little bit and see if you can get it to recognize the external SD.
Fixed It
Well, I tried looked throughout TWRP and could not find a resolution.
What did work was LGFlashTool and madmacks awesome instructions. Thanks everyone for your ideas.

OK, next time, if you forget to backup before you flash, boot your phone into TWRP recovery, select mounts and then mount usb storage, connect your phone to the PC and you should see in "my computer" the phone as a drive, copy the ROM you want to flash to that drive, if it is a CM ROM remember to copy the Gapps also. Disconnect from the PC and then continue with the ROM flashing procedure that we all are so familiar with. This way it saves you the trouble of having to go back to stock again in order to flash a custom ROM.
Glad you got it fixed.

I am trying to install apps in my external sd but on the settings>apps the "move to sd" option is not present (my s3 have that). I installed Appmgr III and got this error "device does not have a real primary external storage, or the primary external storage is emulated. Moving apps to SD function cannot be supported by this device."
My device is rooted with stock rom installed. Foldermount app also installed.
How do i fix this?
Hello..I have LG Stock Rom on my G Pad. Never rooted..never installed custom Rom. But I can not install apps to external SD storage too..and they told me that LG G Pad 8.3 does not support installing apps to external storage such as SD.

Foldermount can move the app data to the SD card for you. There is an option, app analyzer to determine the size of the different data files for the apps. It's just a matter of a few clicks and you will see the internal storage shrink as the data files are moved to the SD card. The apps will remain on the internal memory though. I personally wouldn't be too worried about that as typically the large files are all the data / support files and the apps are relatively small. In most cases anyway. Personally I have about 60 different apps with their files running off my external SD card with no issue. All moved via Foldermount.
i also used folder mount and works fine. now can i also ask, i've rooted my tablet using this methodhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553192 can i now proceed in installing custom recovery or do i need to do something else before i do so? i want to flash cm11 nightlies
Nope, that's it. You should be good to go to install custom recovery. Here is the version that I used.

Nope, still running stock. Was going to upgrade to Mahdi but a couple of initial bug reports had me wait. Those have been fixed but now with the official KitKat version right around the corner I decided to wait. Thus rooted, but still stock with TWRP custom recovery installed.

I am thinking about waiting for the official update too. When the update arrives, can we update via OTA if we are rooted (stock recovery installed)?

You should be able to update via OTA if you're on 4.2.2 stock with a stock recovery. At this point, though, you may not be able to install a custom recovery after you update.

I'm not sure if the custom recoveries have been adapted for the new release. I've read some accounts that indicate that they are not available yet. If they're not yet working, I think they will be soon. Keep an eye on the discussions about the stock updates to see if anybody is able to install a custom recovery after an OTA update.

Hi
I am unable to download any very little apps (1.5 to 2MB! ...) on GTab 3 7" sm-t 2105
Yet I have 1.4GB free !!
I tried to download a large app (~ 500MB lego city), and it worked!
But tiny ones dont pass. (GL to SD etc...)
Do you have any idea?
I did a wipe cache / Dalvik, clearing the cache of the playstore, re-install playstore, nothing works ..
Thanks for your help!
@néonaloj Try to clean everything up by doing a factory reset then followed by flashing stock firmware. This will restore your device into factory state. Or see flashing a custom rom see if its help.
Thanks @Jacker31 !
I know it's my last solution.
I wished I could find something less drastic before... but dont seem so..

It seem to be a bug, so clean up would be the best and your last. Have you tried to install .apk files? does it works? and your 1.4gb free on sd card or internal storage?

Yes I tried, and I can not load .apk files, like Xposed installer or modules (average 700Ko to 2Mo), and another app I dont remember. Doesn't work.
Space free I talked about is on internal storage of course, I do have a ext/sdcard of 32 G, so I have lots of place there (with partition of 5Go in Ext2, the rest in FAT32)
Hm...Just clean up ur tab by flashing it. The fastest and easiest way.
