I lost my volume button. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement in the US? I don't want to wait 3-4 weeks for overseas shipment.
Also, if I get a back cover, will it come with a volume button?
I assume you are talking about the plastic shell button and not the ribbon cable? Unfortunately the new back covers, if found on websites like Alibaba, don't come with the buttons and are often above $20. My suggestion would be to purchase an ebay 'Parts or not working model' for about 50-60 that way you'll have the back cover and buttons, as well as other spare parts that aren't broken, or just buy a used 1+1. You could also buy a slim case, and use some hot glue to get it to fit properly if you don't care about it.
This phone is impossible to buy parts locally, no one in a 150 mile radius had parts for the 1+1 though many knew of it. Sorry

I've searched around a bit, anyone got some good recommendations for buying a replacement screen and a guide on how to do it?
Is this all you need for a cracked screen?

That's the digitizer only (the glass on top of your screen), if that is what you need then this should help:
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC-Evo-4G-Teardown/2979/1
I found it really hard to remove, even after heating the glue holding the digitizer down, I replaced mine with a full housing with screen and digitizer already assembled. It's more expensive but much easier.
Or you could go to your local Sprint Repair Center and see what they can do for you.

If the screen still works but the grass is cracked then what do I need? What is the digitizer?

Look at the link I gave with the the tear down. That should explain it.
ETA: Basically, there is an LCD screen that displays the graphics, and overlaid on top of it is the digitizer that lets you interact with the LCD screen.
If you have insurance just take it to sprint and they will replace it for freeeee! If you don't sorry for taking up space.

No insurance!
insurance or not they could fix it for about $80, get your own digitizer and they might do it for labor only.
if a sprint store wont do it those other "cellphone" stores usually can but youre looking at $150-200
i bought 2 digitizers for $45 (1 wide cable 1 small cable) at a sprint store they changed it for me and took the other digitizer as payment.

Sprint store fixed mine for $35, no insurance. I was also rooted and they were like, we arent supposed to work on it if its rooted, so next time bring it in not rooted.
In addition, they replaced the whole front of my phone. Light leakage I had from below the buttons? Gone. Volume rocker a little creaky? Gone. Power button wear on the graphic? Gone. Small signs of wear on the side of the bezel? Gone. Hotspot on my LCD? Gone. It was worth the $35 for all that jazz, not to mention fixing my glass.
The replacement front they put on had a bad ear speaker, so I brought it back the next day, stock as can be. And they fixed that for free.
10 min later I was re-rooted and nandroid-backed-up back and rolling.
Definitely check with a sprint store first. I actually had to talk to two different people at different times to get them to admit that they could look at it (possibly first one was uninformed? Not sure).
I've taken my evo apart before. Removing the glass is a pain in the ass. I don't recommend it.
What you need is to just replace the LCD. It comes as a unit. If you look at your Evo, you will see a line completely around the sides. Dividing the "top" and "bottom". Popping off the battery cover and a few screws in the back and you will have the whole screen off in a minute. I personally haven't checked for replacement parts or the price of this LCD unit.
But IMO this will be the easiest and quickest way for you to do it.
Awesome, thanks a ton! It's for my brother. I will relay the message and post back with results.
Hi
My side volume keys were flimsy and loose. For the past few weeks I had to press it hard for it respond. The other day I was out and when I took the phone out of my pocket, I realized the volume keys were missing. They fell off somewhere and I have no clue where, so I can't find them. But I definitely know that it didn't happen due to any rough use. There are absolutely no scratches or marks on the phone.
It's really annoying as there is no quick way for me to control volume or put the phone to vibrate mode. Plus I can't flip pages in book readers easily.
Questions
What are my options? Are there any applications I can use to quickly control volume and put the phone to 'Vibrate' mode?
Is this covered under warranty?
The service center says if it's not covered under warranty, I'll have to buy the entire back panel which is going to cost a lot! Is there any online place I can buy 'just' the volume key which can be fixed in?
Mine also broke but i made it work with a drop of appoxy glue.. but be care full it can bind ur button permanently

I would. But unfortunately, I have *lost* the button as I don't know where it dropped off. Any chance I can get just the button for cheap?
Nothing on ebay mate? Deal Extreme sell a lot of spare parts for phones, have a look on there. I cant see it costing that much to repair at a service center? If its just the back panel then its nothing but a few pieces of plastic..
Well, it's not plastic, it's metal. And the back panel costs at least 10% of the cost of the phone back here.
I have had my Note 2 for almost 3 weeks now. A couple of days ago I was putting on the new screen and back protectors I got. You need to take the battery cover over to install..
So after finishing up, I snap the battery cover on and WTF?? The screen is cracked in the upper right corner!!?? Has anyone else run into this?
We took it to US Cellular and they say its not a manufacturer defect and will cost $100 to have it fixed.
This is BS!! I did not drop it, squeeze it hard or anything. I would be the first to admit if I had done anything wrong!
I have not contacted Samsung yet, I am trying to get more info if any others have had this problem...
Wow, you joined in 2009 and this is your first post!
On topic. Sorry that has happened to you. I can relate to the feeling of something deffective just few days after you've purchased it. I have never seen that happening to any of my devices or those devices of my friends' and relatives'...
Really weird. But one fear I have is to have the phone in my pocket and bending down to do something tightening the fabric on the pants around the upper leg area enough to bend the screen and shatter it...

Seriously... only a hundred dollars to repair?... can you please tell me where/who is doing that?. I dropped my phone and had a much more catastrophic screen shatter, everywhere I looked, it was going to be in the 270/300 dollar region for a repair - 100$ would be a really good price for repair.

do you have a picture of the damaged glass?
why take the extra step to take off the battery cover to install screen protector? used to have el-cheapo back covers, and currently using capdase bodifender and there was no need to take out the battery cover. plus the itsy bitsy plastic cover and its tips should not do damage on the glass screen unless it's defective to begin with since you said you didn't squeeze it hard when putting the covers back on.

I have insurance on the phone through US Cellular...thats what they quoted me.
But still its the principle, I feel its a manufacturer defect or it was stressed to begin with since the glass was installed..

You have to take the battery out since you need to use a bit of soapy water...they were cheap! $4 each on amazon with free shipping! :good
No pictures yet..:and no I didn't squeeze it when putting covers on..I did my GF phone the same way and no problems with hers. Definately a manufacturer defect. I will go in there Saturday when its very busy and raise a stink!!
Mine dropped from two feet and hairline cracked across the whole screen. I bought the full assembly LCD/digitizer. Did the repair per LE55ONS. AOK now. afterwards, I tried to pry apart the digitizer glass. In my Note II it is bonded with transparent gum covering the entire LCD. No way to replace only the digitizer on my version of the Note II
Why suddenly sooooooo....many thread about glass break in just differrent few minute of post?? Lol :banghead:

Well after many months of screwing around and taking to facebook and twitter about their poor quality and poor customer service, the "office of the president" of Samsung stepped up to the plate and fixed my Note 2 free of charge!!
So I just dropped my OP3 and now it has cracks all over the screen. Is it difficult to replace by myself and where can I get the new screen module? Asked few of the local phone stores but they don't have screens and couldn't tell when they would get them.

I asked Oneplus the same thing and they told me that they don't sell the screen, so if you find one it is not genuine.
My repair was €104 and took 20 days

Thnx for reply. The screens are out of stock. And also it says lcd-screen on their site. If I understood right the op3 has amoled screen, so it's not the same.
Sent my phone already to repair shop yesterday. Haven't got estimate cost and time yet.

Mate, you got screwed over. Badly.

I think you have to send the phone to OnePlus for repair. My screen was malfunctioning and they replaced it here in Germany for 1 week (with the shipping time) Pretty fast.
Latest info is "send to vendor service center 14.11.2016". In my opinion this is taking way too long.
Just for update. Just picked up my phone today. Replace screen was 140€ and I also got some kind of plastic cover for the phone. Probably not gonna use it, because I like naked phones but anyway nice to get something extra.
What about this one?

It says unbranded and the price is approximately the same as the original one from OnePlus.
If I were you, I would go for the peace of getting it replaced by the manufacturer with OE part, despite the time taken.
So I accidently broke my screen and the touch stopped working. Thought I buy a new one off ebay but there are so many of them and half is probably copies. Does anyone know of a legit seller?
I wish I had the answer for you. I'm in the same boat so I hope someone knows of a good supplier that can provide a screen with good quality. I've looked at many that are available on Amazon and eBay and it appears none are GorillaGlass and tend to break easily.
Has anyone had good luck with a particular part?

I ordered this one (link below) a couple of weeks ago. I looked at a few and this was by far the best quality I found. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is oem compliant.

It's like $45 don't waste money on the FedEx for UPS shipping. With all the bad weather they take longer than the post office.
Another thing luckily they sent me but its like a dollar to get another one is the black double-sided adhesive because you're going to have to take this thing apart more than you expect.
Ifixit has a pretty good tutorial just make sure to read it completely so you don't break a cable end.
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/OnePlus+One+Teardown/26484
To the top left of the rear facing camera /top right of the ear speaker after you get the logic board out, pull out the little gray rubber square.
If you can, use a heat gun liberally. Don't try to half ass it and pry out the power button and volume button flex cables, you WILL break them! Learned that the hard way with the power button. In the event that you do, this was the store page for the power button flex I used: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hig...utton-Wire-Flex-Cable-Repair/32548508603.html
For installation, you won't find it online, but just use a soldering iron to melt solder off the broken flex cable, remove, and solder new flex cable.
Does this screen get close to the original brightness and color saturation?
I ordered one from ebay about 6 months ago and the screen brightness is about half, compared to my wife's undamaged oneplus one, and the colors seem pale.

I have two these phones so side by side with the stock display is it close to similar as you're going to get.
If you drop phones as much as I do, go for the tudia case. It's big bulky and feels like cheap plastic but it is probably saved my screen a dozen times this month, and their description is BS do put the thin tempered glass protector on it so it fits snug for touch
