Canadian LG G4 shutting down before battery reaches 0% - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Canadian LG G4 has routinely been shutting down abruptly (no shutdown screen; just dies) when the battery gauge shows 5-10%. I have performed the battery calibration procedure several times to no avail (fully discharge; charge to 100% then discharge again). I am running Marshmellow and am not rooted.

Try a new battery. Last I checked LG site had the battery back in stock, no special like last year.

LG G4 battery problem

Hi everyone. 3 days ago i replaced my old G4 battery with a new one, and then i have this problem: when i am fully charging the phone and disconnect it after 100%, battery drops immediately at 90% and i dont know why. When i took a look at the stats, i noticed that Screen stays awake over 70% percent..this happens always when i am disconnecting the charger....before this the normal percentage of screen is about 40%...whats wrong with my new battery? My G4 runs marshmallow V20a... i did a factory reset...
I think battery calibration is needed.if you are rooted there are many apps.if not you cantl try formatting your g4 and then fully charge.

All battery calibration apps are bogus and do nothing :good:

LG G3 discharging very quickly (crDroid)

So one morning I woke up and found my phone hadn't charged and then when I started using it the battery went from 60% to 0 in about 30 minutes.
I have crDroid for lg g3 on it with it's latest update (when posted).
I've replaced the battery and changed chargers and it hasn't changed anything.
When in use it's temperature is about normal (35 degrees CPU temp).
After charging the battery outside of the phone I tested the idle time and it's almost as bad as when it's in use.
I dunno if I've accidentally killed some internal system or what but any suggestions would be appreciated.
You need new battery

G4 old and new battery issues - turns off when it still has battery

Context:
My dear LG G4 started having some battery issues this summer: it would sometimes turn off at around 15%, usually if I tried using the camera app. It would turn back on, at <10%. Left idle, it would actually increase the battery %.
About 1 month ago (maybe a bit more), the problem started to increase: it would turn off at ~40% - but not always, rarely. Last week, this happened everytime. Sometimes it would turn on back with ~5%, sometimes with 30%. Anyway, weird behaviour.
So I decided to buy a new battery. Can't be sure it's 100% genuine, but reviews say it should be fine (looks 99% like the old one).
Hoping it would finally solve my issues, I put the new battery in the phone. 5% charged - well, it's new, ok, np -> charge it to 100% and then go out to lunch.
The drain was awful, in less than 30 minutes it was at 75% (moderate usage at most). When it hit 74% it turned off. Problem is, this won't even turn back on. Got back to the office, plugged in charger - battery still reported 74%, phone turned on. Disconnected the charger, 1 minute later, phone turns off.
It's like when it hits 74%, it stops working.
Any ideas? Phone is still in warranty for a month, but not sure if this kind of problem is covered.
It's also my second G4, first one was replaced due to bootloop in summer 2016.
Download Accubattery app from Play Store, for the old battery , check it's health, repeat for the new battery.
My 2.5 year old LG G4 still has bad battery life because you know the SD 808 heats up quickly specially on hot summers or while charging, the battery's no1 enemy would be heat! So with the help of the app , I found the battery health had depreciated to 69% of it's 3000 mAh (that is 2069 mAh ) If your battery is new , I think your battery health should be 90%-100% in the Accubattery app!
Buy a new battery its done

Z2 Force Battery Swollen and Broken

If you have ever wondered about the battery in your Z2 Force especially after your device has started dying at different battery percentages, well, this is what happens. The first time my Z2 Force died was about 10 days ago and the battery was at 38%. It died when I opened the camera app. The second time it died was with 46% battery life remaining. After this it would die with 98% battery. After doing some research and reading all of the post at the Lenovo forum about the battery issues with our device I decided to order a Moto Battery from Amazon and I installed it earlier this evening. I am letting it charge to 100% before I power up my device and then I am going to use my Z2 until it is completely dead and then recharge it again to calibrate the battery. Here are some pics of what the original battery looked like. The battery was broken into several pieces inside its wrapper and you can see where it had been swelling over and over. Ive had this Z2 since August of 2018. The original battery made it just over a year before I started having the random shutdown issue. I have attached a link to the battery I ordered in case anyone needs a recommendation. This battery comes with the tool kit to disassemble to device but the only thing I did was remove and replace the battery and it took me a total of about 25 minutes. I did use a hair drier to assist with the adhesive but I did not feel it was absolutely necessary.

Just a quick update about the new battery.
When I installed the battery it was fully discharged to 0%. I plugged in the original USB-C cable and the original Moto Turbo Charger that came in the box when the device was new.
Before I powered up my device with the new battery I let it charge to 100% and when it reached full I set a timer to let my Z2 Force stay on the charger for one hour.
When that hour was up I turned my device on and went through all the things I could remember that would cause it to shut down. I couldn't make it shut down with the new battery.
With the first charge my SoT was 7:18. That was a surprise for sure. When my device was new I would frequently get over 6hrs of SoT.

Low battery health after replacement

Hi! My old battery was inefficient (45% health at AccuBattery) and it swelled so I decided to replace that one. Everything goes easy because it wasn't my first battery replacement in this phone but just after replacement I noticed that the new battery is draining fast also. I was operating on MIUI 12 by Xiaomi.eu, so I decided to rollback to Stock ROM with MIUI 11. I flashed it with MiFlasher (With full wipe). But still new battery was draining fast (51% health) in AccuBattery. Then I want to make sure if this new battery is actually new, so I bought another battery, but this time from other company with good rating and replace it. And this do nothing because the newest battery phone is using only with around 50%. I tried to recalibrate battery once, I drain phone to 0%. And then I want to charge it to 100% without turning it on, but it turns on automatically and it gives no effect.
What should I do now?
Only one right way is to measure battery capacity with special charger. Something like this.
Drain battery to 0%, turn phone off, connect through device, and charge to 100%.
