Hey, I've just installed lineageos 15.1 on my oneplus 2, all my banking apps (natwest, Tsb, Halifax etc) crash when I try to login to them. The installation went fine except it said it couldn't mount /data during the install, but it worked.
Would this be be linked to all my banking apps crashing? I'm not rooted. Any other ideas why it might not work?
You may need to install Magisk which is the new method of rooting and use it to hide root from the banking apps. I think the apps are programmed to pick up custom ROM's hence why it's not working.

Just did a completely clean install, got no problems with /data this time (no errors at all).
Installed TSB and Halifax and both crash upon login. (Nothing to say anything about root, just app force closes or returns to login screen).
I installed Magisk and used Magisk hide still no luck.
Anyone got any ideas why it's just the banking apps crashing?
Tried the same thing on a oneplus one with LineageOS 15.1 and it worked fine?
I have the exact same issue on my OnePlus 2. This issue existed in Lineage OS 15.1 and now in Resurrection Remix as well. A work around is to use an older version of Natwest App, which can be downloaded from Apk mirror (see below)
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/the-r...banking-05-04-0000-36-0-android-apk-download/
This solution sucks though because you miss out on the latest features introduced. Also, fingerprint login won't work.
Not worth the hassle, It'll just end in failure, the best method is to just use the banks main sites with a good browser.

So, i've used Snapchat on both
Stock (5.1.1 - Oi1 Rom) and Custom Rom (Renegade)
I can't seem to get it to work on the custom rom, i've always had to use the stock rom and it would work just fine, but on the other it would say "temporarily logged out" or something different, but when i boot back to stock, its fine and doesn't hesitate to say that.
Am i missing something here?? i've already tried resetting my password 5 times to be sure.
Snapchat 9.1.17.1.0 -- Xposed Snapprefs 1.6.2
Snapchat and Root
I don't use Snapchat, but this might explain your issue:
http://www.xda-developers.com/snapchat-is-at-it-again-and-blocks-root-users-but-for-how-long/
Snapchat detects Root and stops working, XDA builds a work-around into Xposed, Snapchat puts out a new patch and repeat.
Found something new: Try updating to Snapprefs 1.6.4. And you will find more help here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-snapprefs-ultimate-snapchat-utility-t2947254
Thank you!
I've actually ended up researching and figuring it outmyself my way or work around.
Snapchat checks or scans to see if "Xposed" which leads me to not log in.
So in order to use Snapchat with Snapprefs or 3rd party, you would need to either
Install stock and root it, then log into snapchat with the latest version and then go to recovery to install xposed.
or
Install stock and root then boot to recovery to install the custom rom and do no install xposed framework.
Once done with booting up and setting up, install snapchat latest version, log into it and then install xposed.
once thats done download 'xinstaller' and check to enable downgrading and updating and then install 'snapprefs' for all the
juicyness of customizations.
Profit!
My configuration.
Snapchat -
9.17.1.0
Xposed -
75 wanam 20151008 - seems to work best for me on both roms instead of v79.
Snapprefs -
1.6.2

I found a work around for it my phone died and I signed into my sc from another device used it and logged off when I tried signing in on my phone I got temp login failure notice this is what I did to get back on:
On a second device, download latest version and sign into Snapchat
Once done, root second device and download titanium backup
Make a back up of Snapchat from second device and send the .tibkp back up or whatever to the first device
On first device download latest version of snapchat and titanium back up and restore the data only from the file you sent to the first device from the second device
Once done use sc like normal
Works fine unless you sign out from Snapchat on the second device so what I did is I froze Snapchat on the second device and erased the back up.
Why does Snapchat do this? Does anyone have any idea why?

They make a silly app with an unenforceable premise, the app sucks and they block third-party alternatives, their security is awful, their background data drain is known to go nuts, and now they are blocking root users so they can better charge you for replays??
But still they can't tame the root..
p.s. the CEO is an Apple fanboy..
Sometimes snapchat just crashes a couple of seconds after opening it or sometimes it doesn't but when I try to open someones story it just crashes.
I can provide logs if someone can explain how to do it
To add to this, I've tried it on 1.9 and it doesn't work. This problem is all of the sudden and it used to work. I've tried uninstalling root and xposed and factory resetting none of which work. It works fine on CM13 and 14.1 but suddenly it stops working here.
Id also like to add that on freedom OS snapchat wont work since snapchat can sense if you are rooted. I think there is a way around like that root cloak app but havent tried it out yet. Anyone find a way around ?

You can login to snapchat if you aren't rooted. If you are rooted and need to login just uninstall it through the supersu app.
This again. You won't be able to log in ONLY if you have xposed framework installed. It's not "sensing" root.
It's crashing because you probably are using a custom kernel with cb. Snapchat works fine with stock kernel.

I'm using stock everything, have never went custom on my OP3 and it crashes every time when I open it.

Hey folks, I have a note 10+ n975f and used to root all my older phones in past for freedom and a bit of a change to customising etc... Anyhow tried using magisk to disguised my banking apps before on other phones but them and a few others still won't work, the apps crash, tried a few rooms and all do the se thing, restored phone to factory and they all work. As its been years since I used to root my phones am I missing something? I've followed as many guided here as I can but can't seem to get around this issue.
possible the apps have learnt to detect it better, security is a cat and mouse game and firms are getting better at stopping people using their stuff on devices they don't want them to, you may have to look into certain apps for specific ways to bypass the detection. but chances are a lot of apps are now designed to detect the things blocking the detection of the phone being unlocked.
sad fact is if you want to use secure stuff on your phone the only really bulletproof option is to keep the phone locked.
Yea I know what you mean. Aww I used to have oneplus 6 and it's software was amazing but love the note for its size and camera etc but software just seems so bloated and it's got double the ram like
I know what you mean, but for me personally I just disable the stuff I don't need and use Lawnchair launcher to get the phone running like a Pixel device, but on the other hand the Samsung software can often give extra features that havent gone into base Android yet.
I had apps that wouldn't work because it detected root. So I did this: Magisk/Settings/Hide Magisk Manager. My apps worked after that.

Thanks for the reply however not meaning to be rude, I stated I already tried Magisk in the original post. It doesn't work for some apps like banking apps etc.

You were very unclear about what you did in Magisk. Did you use Magisk Hide or Hide Magisk Manager?

I used Magisk Hide from what I recall. Opened it up, safenet etc was all green and good to go, it worked for snapchat etc but would not work on 3 of my banking apps, those are the only ones it wouldn't work on. From memory, I when I opened Magisk, I checked safety net was goo, it was. so went and hid root from each app I knew would look for safety net. The apps in question are Co-Operative Bank, Ulsterbank and Dansk (Mobile Bank in store) They will not open, they try, a quick flash on the screen and it returns back to home screen. Tried 3 different roms and they all done same thing.

As I stated in my first reply to you, you need to Hide Magisk Manager. This is different than Magisk Hide. Go to Settings and select Hide Magisk Manager. You will get a popup for new name, leave it as Manager, tap OK.
Then open Manager, you will get a message to update Magisk Manager, tap OK.
Restart the phone. Your banking apps should work now.
I had the same problem as you in that the apps didn't work by just selecting the apps in Magisk Hide. They did after Hide Magisk Manager. So you have to do both.
Hi,
I bought a joyeuse and want to switch from stock rom to xiaomi.eu without rooting my phone - but I really miss adaway and afwall+
Netguard is nice but I would rather prefer to use both apps a system apps.
Is it possible to add those apps to the ROM as system apps prior to the installation?
Thanks
HiHiMan
I don't think you could do that since both those apps need root access and being installed as system app does not remove that requirement. What would be wrong with rooting your eu rom?
Why not just Adguard which has the functionality of both and better in every imagianble way without needing root?
Thanks, currently I am using NetGuard - but I am kind of missing adaway with hosts instead using VPN
Root and edxposed (e.g. fpr xprivacylua) is not comparable with banking apps.
After almost 10 years working with rooted phones I (at least I try) to to keep this one as "virgin" as could be...
EDIT: but in case I just want to temporarily root the phone, what would be the best solution?
- flash ROM
- flash TWRP
- install Magisk
- install Titanium Backup
- install Adaway as system app
- install adwall+ as system app
- uninstall Magisk
- install gapps
done? will I probably keep widevine L1 and pass SafetyNet??

Seems to be alright
I have no issues with Advised and all three banking apps I use, I still so no reason to use this method as there's no positives in comparison to Adguard.

Adguard doesn't require a rooted device. This is why you don't have issues with banking apps
Exactly, there's no need to root if you're using Adguard. But it does support root if you don't want to use it via local VPN.

Hi,
How can I fix the Play Protect certification in Google Play without using Magisk? I already tried the method of registration the Device ID Framework (Google Service Framework (GSF)) in the Google’s Device Registration page (https://www.google.com/android/uncertified) but the status still not verifiend.
Should I lock the bootloader? If yes, can I have problem doing that with a Custom ROM and when I brick the phone again (needing flashing the Fastboot ROM)?
About that...this is a Custom ROM problem or what? I don't want use Magisk because I got some apps problem even using Magisk Hide and I realy don't need use a root device. So I solve the problems with the apps taking off the Magisk, but I got a new problem with Play Protect that don't let me install some apps like Netflix from Play Store. This is a problem that I don't want have.
I was using my Mi9SE (grus) with original ROM for 2 years and this week I chose put a Custom ROM, so I did it with Xiaomi.eu (xiaomi.eu_multi_MI9SE_V12.0.3.0.QFBCNXM_v12-10). I've bricked and learn a lot of things with this choice, but there's some that I didn't find solutions. Since I'm "old school", I need to know if I will have more awnsers from Telegram than here?
Tks!
I found this "solution":
1) Through TWRP clear the folder /data/data/com.google.android.gms/app_dg_cache
2) Set the permissions (chmod) 0644 the folder /data/data/com.google.android.gms/app_dg_cache
May need to clear GPay data after reboot
GPay works on my POCO F2 Pro, no Magisk, no Google Play certification
from here (https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-12-0-stable-release.56191/page-124#post-574285)
The Play Protect still not passing (shows up not verified) BUT you can install the apps like Netflix normally.
So...it's working without ROOT, MAGISK and with UNLOCK bootloader.
EDIT: with that "solution" I started witnessing some bugs from Contacts in WhatsApp and higher time to install apps from Google Play.
