Rooted with Magisk and Smart Lock will not work. - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

Prior to rooting, I had set up smart lock. Now I've rooted with Magisk and Smart Lock will not work. When I go into settings, it asks for my unlock pattern, but will not open the smart lock settings menu. None of the devices or locations will unlock the phone either.
Has anyone rooted with Magisk and have smart lock working?

I had this issue one time before. I had to disable trust agents, reboot the phone, then enable them again followed by an additional reboot. Maybe this will work.

[Q] security problem, can not remove the Pin/pattern/password protection

Hi fellows,
So i bought that S810 beast and i am fully enjoying it
Only one of a sudden, i found a bug which i thought it might not be that annoying, but it turned out to be freaking me out
I can not remove the lockscreen protection back to the normal slide lockscreen for an unknown reason that i failed to discover.
It says,
Disabled by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage
Click to collapse
I have nothing in the administrators, my internal storage is not encrypted and i haven't touched that credential thing!
So i guess that the only way out is to "clear the credential storage"
Now the question is, is there any way out of this problem rather than factory reseting the phone or clearing the credentials?? If not, then can anybody tell me what are the side effects of deleting the credential certificates ? AFAIK it affects VPN stuff, which i never used on my phone and i am sure i won't use it! Are there any other side effects?
P.S. I am not rooted no need to void my warranty, yet
Thank You!

AcDisplay, Greenify, Android device manager only
Nothing special
Screenshot attached!
Try removing AcDisplay from your device.
Might be AcDisplay indeed. Have you tried to remove it?

Well this issue was there before i install the apps
Only android device manager was there once i detected the incident
However i will try to remove them and see if there is anything changed
You could also reboot into safe mode, see if that solves the problem (which would indicate that an installed app is the source). To go into safe mode, press and hold the power button until the power menu appears and the touch & hold 'power off' until prompted to reboot into safe mode.

Navigate to /data/system/password or gesture (Pattern) and delete that entry depending on what type of password you have, reboot done.
If you are unable to get into the phone you will be able to do this using the file manager within TWRP.
PS: Not 100% if it'll fix the isse due to an app locking down the phone but it certainly removes the pin / pattern or password from your phone, so should work.

Ah i see, sorry mate, then no you need root access to be able to see lower level files.
In all fairness, I would say to back up your data and flash another ruu / rom, or even factory reset the device and be careful what you install, I'm assuming that it's something to do with an app you have installed or an email which needs to lock down your device.
I would do that, back up, wipe and go lightly with the installing of apps until you find the culprit, if that doesn't work then I would flash another RUU.
But I imagine it will.

Ohh, then i need some free time
Thanks for the help
As a workaround, i used smart lock
I set up home as trusted place and turned on body detection
Sweet! Password when needed only

Nice one.
click thanks instead of saying it fella Glad you're back up and running.
Actually it turned out to be even better with Smart Lock options like trusted devices "when connected to my bluetooth speakers/handsfree" and trusted place "put my home address here" and also turned on the "body detection"
In this way i am prompted to type my PIN only when needed :good:
Thanks for the help guys

Unlocking phone issue after upgrade to 3.2.8

After updating to 3.2.8 I have issue unlocking the phone. Using my Fingerprint used to unlock it but now it just turns on the screen and asks me to draw the line and underneath it it says 'emergency'. (it does not say that it didn't read my Fingerprint)
Any idea what to do?

I've seen no such option to set or remove it (and it used to work before the upgrade)
Sometimes it does unlock and sometimes just turns on the screen and sends me to unlock via pattern (again, it didn't fail to recognize my Fingerprint)
Edit :
The issue was with Nova launcher, I had to go to 'advanced settings' and give it root access so it will be able to open the phone normally without asking for pattern

Lockscreen bypass?

So my roommate was drunk and set up a lockscreen swipe password and can't remember it. Is there a way to get past it without a full reset? Tried using Android device manager but not working. Any help would be great. Phone is also unlocked and rooted. Thanks

You might be able to delete locksettings.db in recovery. That should clear out the pin. Used to have to do that on 6p after a restore.

Fingerprint unlock WITHOUT security

Hi,
I know that in order to use fingerprint unlock one must set a password/pattern/pin as a security backup, but:
I want to use the fingerprint to unlock only because this is a faster operation then double tap to wake and then swipe away the lock screen.
I know I can simply disable the lockscreen but I don't want to.
I want to be able to unlock using fingerprint or using swipe to unlock. Without security.
Is there an app or a mod for that?
I already searched but couldn't find anything related.
Thanks

I believe Resurrection remix has this feature in built. Although it's not advisable to use it, for instance if your fingerprint scanner stops working you wouldn't have any other means to access your phone.
Thanks for the response

Yes I will - I'll just swipe to unlock.
And last time I checked (a few months ago) every ROM not based on OOS loses the good camera quality, so I'm sticking to OOS based ROMs
if u r rooted use es explorer or a file manager delete/move files to another folder on ur sdcard for backup purposes, those should not delete the fingerprint, u can still use ur fingerprint to unlock the device. ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP THROUGH TWRP 1st
data/system/gatekeeper.password.key
data/system/gatekeeper.pattern.key
data/system/locksettings.db
data/system/locksettings.db-shm
data/system/locksettings.db-wal
The post above me or flash this in twrp

Amazing!! I just LOVE android!
I don't understand how come this is not a feature - quick unlock the device using fingerprint, but without security (so that you could also get a lockscreen unlock without pin/password etc.).
Thank you!!

lol honestly it was something accidentally stumbled upon
u can download FingerprintEnabler xposed module and it will stop from needing the security code on reboot, u can just use the fingerprint sensor from the start without having to delete anything.
I'm looking to use the finger print sensor with any persons finger print just as a sensor to unlock the phone will these steps do that?
Great!! But, if I want to get back the normal lockscreen?

Just set pin/pass/pattern

Tap padlock on lockscreen instead of swipe up

Hi,
Question, just did a clean install and setting up my phone.
Before i reflashed my phone I could tap on the padlock on the lockscreen to enter my pattern to unlock the phone but it doesn't work anymore.
I always have to swipe up before I can enter the pattern.
If I remember correctly, it was a setting (or a combination of settings) to get it work but I can't remember...
It was working on both 8.1 and Android P DPx
Any ideas?

It is working for me. I'm on stock 8.1 rooted ROM. I actually always tap on the padlock instead of swiping as sometimes when swiping up I need to do it 3-4times until it unlocks the screen. It's easier just to tap on the padlock. However I don't use any pattern or fingerprint security... ?
