Messages over BT - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

My 3XL won't allow any of my bluetooth devices (Dodge UConnect, Huawei Watch) to access messages. It is not an option in the pairing security (where you can enable/disable audio, contacts, etc.). Am I alone here? Or is everyone having this problem? When I receive a new text message, my car and phone are completely unaware of it.
I'm using Google Messages.

Nope. Both my car (2018 Subaru) and Garmin Vivo connect and receive & send notifications just fine.

I'm an idiot. The phone was displaying a notification to grant permissions to messages, but I didn't see it because it was hidden in the "dot" summary notification icon due to the notch. Once granting permissions, the messages come through fine.

Switching off "Bluetooth disconnected" message

Every time I leave my car, thus breaking the Bluetooth connection, the phone throws up an information message telling me that Bluetooth has disconnected. An irritating message which I then have to cancel.
Can anyone please tell me a fix or registry tweak that will switch off these messages? I use "Avance Config" but can't find anything in there to stop them.
Cheers.
start-settings - sounds and notifications - notifications on bottom and then from the drop down list, select bluetooth and uncheck display message on screen
Many thanks for the response. However, on my phone Bluetooth does not appear in that drop-down list. Only a generic "Reminders", which, as that includes calendar alarms, I need.
I installed hAndynotify and it worked a treat http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563592
Perfect. Ideal. Job done!
Many thanks indeed.

A cellphone accessory for a smartphone?

Is there a accessory/device that I can use to connect to my android phone and use that device/accessory to compose message and do/accept calls on it when someone will call on my android device.
What I mean is for example I will compose a text message on "that device/accessory" which is connected to my android phone and when i send the message i just composed on " that device/accessory" it would then send the message to my android phone and then my android phone would automatically send the message on the network thus i only use one sim and when someone call to my android phone "that device/accessory" would act like a wireless Bluetooth headset?
You can use something like AndroidLost to send and read SMSs remotely from any browser enabled device, but you wouldn't be able to make or answer calls (though you can force the phone to hang up). You should be able to activate calling over bluetooth with any laptop. What exactly did you have in mind for an accessory?
What i imagine is am accessory maybe that look like an old nokia model (those like 3310 and such) but connected top my android phone and whenever i receive a text on my android phone i can read it using that accessory and can reply to that text using that accessory also. And also i can answer calls using it.
Maybe the idea is very closely similar to a sony smart watch but with the ability to send sms and accept calls.
I think you're looking for a bluetooth headset. With the voice recognition google apps in ICS and above, you can easily use a BT headset to compose messages and control your phone.
how do i compose message on a bluetooth headset? is there ab bluetooth headset with screen??
I read this a while ago and I still don't understand.
You're just asking for another phone (makes calls, has a screen big enough you can type messages on it) - that's not an "accessory" - so of course no one makes one. If this isn't just another phone tied to your phone... what do you want ?
A smart watch is what you want, but it doesn't have a big enough screen to type. Make the screen bigger and you literally have a regular phone.
You'd need to connect them over bluetooth, wifi, or cellular network - the last negating having only one SIM and the first meaning they'd need to be in decently close proximity - over wifi would only work if this "accessory" had wifi access and could do what you want.
If you really want a second phone that doesn't use network access - just get one. You can still use it over wifi and you can use Google Voice to retain the same number between devices. You can use various apps to get calls on it as well as sending SMS/IM.
It''s a phone tied to another phone. Imagine it as a smartwatch but i can compose message and does not look like a watch but a phone (looks like those first gen nokia phones). That my sim is on my android phone and whenever i receive message on my android phone it will be send over using bluetooth or wifi network to that phone and when i compose message to that phone it would be send on my android phone and be send to the network.
It's like a reprogrammed nokia phone to act like a smartwatch.

[Q] Bluetooth "MAP" and email - how to stop it?

This is the first phone I've had (and I've had quite a few) that supported email via the bluetooth MAP profile (usually used by car head units to display/read SMS messages.)
Is there any way to prevent EMAIL messages from going across the bluetooth MAP profile? I've found driving in my car has become a major headache when my car alerts me to all my email (work email) -- but still want SMS messages to work normally.
(I can't block it from my car..)
Thanks
Gary

Turn off native messaging app notifications LOS 17.1 OnePlus 6T

Hello all,
On my OnePlus 6T running Android 10 and LOS 17.1, the main notification on-off slider is greyed out in the native mesaaging app, and in Setting -> Apps and Notifications. I cannot turn them off.
Need to keep the app active ( or get another ), because I use Google Voice for my primary number, though my *actual* cellular number is different. This means, that when someone texts me a V-card, I can't do anything with it in Google Voice ("File type not supported ".
To remedy this, I have the native LOS mrssaging app pointed at my actual cell number. In this way, every mesaage i receive the text in both apps. On the rare occasion someone sends me a V-card, I can see it and save the contact to my contacts in the native messaging app. I then periodically delete the messages in that app.
The problem is, that now I get notifications on both apps. I'd like to retain the notifications on Google Voice, but suppress notifications for the native messaging app.
Anyone have any insights into why I cannot turn of these notifications?
Thank you

Question DND allow only phone calls

Just picked up the 11 and I am trying to set it up as my older phone (Note 10) regarding DND (do not disturb).
With my old setup, I could silence everything except phone calls. With the new phone, it seems that phone calls are tied to messages and filtered by all contacts, favorites or none.
Putting Phone and Phone calls as app exceptions will silence calls received if for the People section I select None, and selecting Contacts in People will permit group Whatsapp messages etc. which is really annoying.
Does anyone know how I can allow only phone calls (without regard to who's calling) and block everything else?
