How can I get my CSC and PDA back (T805) ? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anybody has an idea how I can get my CSC and PDA back?
I flashed a 4-parts stock firmware prior to ResurrectionRemix with OXA (DBT) CSC for my country Germany.
And now I have the situation as you can see in attached screenshots (taken from Phone Info +).
regards

If you have no issues with call reception / mobike data, just dont care. I also flashed Hong Kong firmware first (as it was latest by date) and have no issues since then.

Pretty much all of that is stored on the EFS partition. Just restore your EFS backup.

The problem is that I guess I have no efs backup..

You can modify the EFS yourself with root.

@ashyx
Can you tell me how to do that? Or is there a manual here on XDA or somewhere else?
I guess this error occured while switching from my broken Tab S to a new one..

It looks exactly the same on my tablet as well. I don't think it's a big problem if you don't have problems with calls. If you do, try flashing a stock firmware before modifying the EFS - I had such an issue and flashing the latest firmware for my country fixed it. You should also make an EFS backup in case it gets corrupted.

Making the EFS backup is mandatory for Samsung devices right after you get root. Also, PARAM partition is worth being backed up. In my T805 topic, I explicitly put the backup step as a ground requisite for flashing anything.

As already mentioned in my first post, I did flash a 4-piece stock firmware but this did not help..
maybe I have to do some special settings in ODIN?
It must be possible to get CSC and PDA back...
I have a broken T805 where the display does not work anymore but I could try to backup the EFS.
Would it be possible to restore that EFS on my other T805?

Why in first case did you flash a ROm which isn't intended to be for your device?
Well you killed your EFS partition (bricked)
I hope you mad a EFS backup BEFORE you flashed. So you can restore it and all will be fine.
You could try the Stock Firmware via Mobile Odin if it fixes your EFS problem. No Guarantee here, sometimes it dsoes work and sometimes not.
Good luck to you

I believe the reason you are experiencing this issue is because this new firmware you flashed doesn't contain a custom radio and the n7100 firmware did. You will need to find a n7105 radio, flash that through CWM or TWRP and you should be back in business mate.

Would be glad to help you but you seem to have skipped the first rule : read, read, read before you do anything else. You even admitted that this is your first Samsung device, so why did u assume that everything should have been htc like ?
Anyhow, you can try to flash the newest 4.1.2 update for the 7105, even though I fear that your problem is your efs folder, and since this is unique for each device, no flashing any rom will put it back in place.

but, why my signal is verry in poor level? only showing 2 bar?
im sorry, im not experienced with samsung devices
Since you said that the phone is from Australia and Optus you may want to flash its original firmware back in place :
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-N7105&pcode=OPS&os=1&type=1#firmware
If you do not use the phone in Australia you may want to find a firmware (if available) for your device/geographical region.

I am facing the same problem you had before, however when i try to Odin the stock 4.1.1 firmware back to the phone, it stops at the Samsung logo when restarting. I have to force back to recovery mode to flash the omega back to have it start again. Can you please tell me the steps you did on putting back to stock firmware? thanks
If you haven't yet reflashed the EFS partition (don't do that, ever ! unless you have a good reundant set of backups), you actually don't need to reflash to stock firmware at all (and I doubt that it'd do any good anyways. It just puts back a generic EFS with the files set at default values, but certainly can't put back the data you had in your own device's EFS, this is unique to each phone).
Just head on over to the Galaxy S2 forums and look for a thread called "Restore your IMEI in 9 steps" (something like that. There's actually quite a number of threads describing the same procedure, you can find them by searching "samsung restore imei" in all forums, works just as well).
I had the same problem the other day (and no backup of course, silly and impatient me... ), it worked like a charm..
It's topics like this that i know that People Will get Hurt on. Come on, read and study before doing anything on a smartphone. There's a reason why android doesn't come with administrator rights from factory.

[HELP] Ace2 i8160 imei/baseband unknown

Please help me, my phone can't detect sim card after upgrading to JB. Even if I flash other firmware JB/GB still same. I dont have backup of anything, i'm screwed. Search everywhere, the only resolution that i think will work is using those flash box wich are expensive and i do not have those special cables that are needed.
Any help that you will post is highly appreciated.

Boxes... bricked Nokia phones... bad ol' days!
AFAIK, the reason resides in the modemfs and EFS partitions, which are different between EU and Asian firmwares. You would need to flash an Asian stock ROM which contains at least efs.bin.md5, but I don't think there may be any.

If you find someone which has a working Asian Ace 2, yes, you could dd dump the EFS and modemfs partitions, but then you will have his same IMEI because of the EFS lol
There isn't any hope, so the best thing to do is sending it to RMA, since they usually don't mind (if they are not Samsung official Service) and send you a new phone.

This is not valid for NovaThor U8500 Chip based phones (8160, 8190, 9070)...
The IMEI is (not 100% proved but quite sure) in CSPSA_FS partition. MAC for Wifi and Bluetooth is in MODEM_FS...
The role of EFS (which is for many other phones the place for IMEI) is not clear up to now....
Normaly you NEVER overwrite you CSPSA_FS partition if you only flashed original FW.
Therefore I think there could be still a chance to recover your Phone.
Please tell me the exact details of your Phone (8160/8160P) and the FW you flashed right before your phone stucks.
Futhermore you can try this (TEE Folder method)

Yeah, but WiFi and BT MAC addresses cannot be located in the modemfs partition, since they are unique per physical device and flashing any FW would mean changing it (and then many people would have the same MAC)... They must be elsewhere.

If you flash the MODEM_FS and EFS (via DD ADB) from an other Phone you will have also the Wifi MAC of this phone!
Made this recently during my test to bring back 8160P... see sig.
If I flash an foreign DUMP to my phone and flashback my MODEM_FS + EFS my original MAC is recoverd.
Do you have anything to prove your statement?

Then it would mean that when flashing a stock FW the modemfs and EFS partitions do not get wiped but instead just updated.

First of all show me an original full FW that inculded MODEM_FS or/and EFS (and/or CSPSA)... I do not know one!
That leads me to the opinion that they stay untouched (or only being updated while first boot after ODIN flash)
BUT: The well known RUS GB FW has quite all partitions included - also the obove mentioned. And this do not change IMEI and/or MAC adresses...
Comparted them with my original partitions recently and it looks like that the RUS FW has emty parts in there...
But this is still not proven how this all works...

[Q] efs problem after flashing ROM

Hi,(I asked a similar question on the hawkish rom thread. But maybe someone here knows a solution)
I flashed hawkish rom, and made a nandroid backup, and backed up all my apps, but not the EFS partition.
After flashing, I can't see my network operator. I'm in germany, and I see
o2 - de, E-Plus, Vodafone.de, but I can't see telekom.de. Instead, the first line of the operators is empty - has no name.
*#06# showed as IMEI 0049999....
After much fussing with the EFS directory, I managed to get to a state where my IMEI shows up correctly with *#06#.
I also tried flashing various modems, but nothing helped.
When I click on the empty line among the operators, the phone does evenually register to that network, but nothing changes -still emergency only.
"About device" shows in Status: Network Telekom.de, signal strength -101dBm 5asu, Service state "Out of service"
What could be wrong? How can I fix things?
Thanks!!
Turns out I have an efs backup
It seems I do have a backup of the efs folder as a tar.
What is the best way to restore it?
I tried mounting as r/w and just overwrite the folder, but that didn't seem to change anything - I still can't see the network operator
(the imei is correct, though...)
So, what's a good way to restore the efs?

well there may be some change in file maybe few extra or less but that might be an issue as its not restoring the efs backup well try the modem thing and if rectified then don't ever go back to 4.1.1 . as the prob is with the modem so it should solve the problem u facing

No, that didn't help. hawkish extreme actually flashes a modem during installation (which could be where all my problems started...)
I tried now a couple of other sim cards. The problem where one of the lines in the list of network operators is empty seems to be a separate issue. On other cards I also see Telekom.de, which is missing on mine. But on all cards I get
"Registered on Network", when I select register automatically, but Service state "out of service" in About Device->status.
I checked my IMEI, and it doesn't seem registered as lost/stolen.
Not sure what to do.....
Ok, http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1918601 worked after
installing a stock rom.
Great!

[Q] Generic IMEI after OTA 4.3 upgrade

Hello to everyone, I was wondering if anyone can help with this. I have a Galaxy Note 2 branded by an Italian company (3hg Italia). It recently received its update to Android 4.3 (update N7100XXUEML2). It was the official update OTA, the phone is not rooted and it had the stock ROM on it. The update somehow messed up my IMEI making it appear as the generic 0049 forcing me on "Emergency calls only" mode. I already tried flashing the same ROM with Odin and repeating the update with KIES, but while the updates always results successful the IMEI remains 0049. I never made a backup of the EFS folder for this phone since I haven't rooted it or flashed any different ROM on it yet. There is any chance that the phone made an automatic backup? I live in the States right now and Samsung tells me I need to ship it back to Italy to have it fixed, but that costs a lot and would take forever, and I would much prefer try to solve the problem locally. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, if not for any fix that I can try myself, at least some place on the West Coast that can fix the problem!
Thank you!
Lorenzo
Oh I forgot to add that because of Hardware problems I recently sent my phone to Samsung and they replaced the motherboard, which fixed the problem I was having. I don't know if that could be related!

So I found someone nice enough to give me a hand with this situation, but still no luck yet! Here what they say:
At first glance, the EFS data on the phone was corrupt. I re-generated
that data and restored it to the phone without success.
The GSM radio itself is operational, and the firmware for it is
installed and functional. diagnostic data flows to the towers and back
to the phone but it's not reading the IMEI from the copy of
nv_data.bin contained within EFS. I've re-generated and installed
those files as well, again with no luck.
I rolled the device back to it's original factory firmware and radio
baseband, then ran through the update for the radio baseband, which
also regenerates the contents of EFS, and still no luck.
Given the situation, anyone have other suggestions?

[Q] N7100 generic IMEI 0049 on 4.4.2

Please help me with my situations.
It is almost 1 week phone start making this problem. From beginning my phone getting boot loop. I have not root the phone. It is originally stock rom. I thought that the system get corrupted and then try to flash the phone with stock rom N7100XXUFNG4_N7100OLBFNG1_N7100DXUFND2_HOME.tar with odin.
This was my first time flashing this phone so I did not know anything about any EFS backup. After successfuly flashing the stock rom, at first I feel glad but suddenly I have got emergency call only. Then after what I have been searching and reading for almost a week, it was my IMEI 0049.
I have tried flash the stock rom again but the problem still remain. I have tried downgrade to 4.1.2 but the odin won't let me flash it. I have tried delete the EFS folder and paste the backup nv_data.bin but the IMEI 0049 still there. I don't have any service box so I can't repair my EFS from my computer. Is there any solutions I really really appreciate if and you guys can help with my problem. Thank you :good:

Of course not, usually IMEI starts with 3***.
I know your phone has a generic imei.
What I meant is this: did the imei in the phone matched the imei on label before the problem started.

You try using nvwriter to inject the imei.

Well my country carrier starts with +6. I just ask my cousin to download that firmware for me since my house internet always disconnected I don't know why. I just ask him to download the latest firmware for my country.
That nvwriter guide is not for my phone. Is it work also with my phone?
Sorry, I'm not too familiar with nvwriter. I just know that some people have used it with Samsung phones.
The nv writer look promising, but it cannot read my phone cause when I select the rmnet/rndis/+dm+modem, it is only showing unknown device. Hmm my samsung usb driver already up to date.
