Has anyone noticed the inaccuracy of the spen on the tab s4?
Whenever I'm writing on the tab, I cannot write constantly, it goes off the axis randomly. Tried contacting Samsung, it was pointless, they said to calibrate by going to each corner of the tablet.
Yet, I feel like its the issue with the spen itself, I tried Staedtler's Noris Digital pen for Samsung, it works flawlessly but the downside was the missing button for the pen.
What happened after you calibrated the S Pen with the tablet?
I've been using the Tab S4 now for 4 days with the S Pen and no issues. Note taking is accurate on pages and pages of notes with both Samsung Notes and S Note. I have the Staedtler's Noris pen too but haven't tried that as yet as that is packed up with my Tab S3.
If you can't get the S Pen to calibrate with the Tab S4 you may want to return or exchange your Tab S4 as it could be something defective with the tablet or the pen. I guess before I would do that is to replace the nib with one of the replacements in the box and see if that fixes the pen's issue. Or re-seat the existing nib.

The calibration method was just simply dragging the spen to every corner correct? Or is there another way that I am supposed to do.

That is my understanding. I did not have to calibrate my S Pen. So if the calibration did not fix this then I'd do the following.
Make sure you have the latest system updates. Mine is at T830XXU1ARH5/T830OM1ARH5 (that is T830 then the letter o then M1ARH5)
If that and changing the nib in the S Pen didn't fix it I'd take it back and either refund or exchange it. For this outlay of money it should work. Obviously it does with the Staedler so it could just be a defective S Pen. But best to return everything. Make sure to factory reset the device before you give it back.

Tried changing the nibs and updated the software to the latest version. Yet, nothing has changed really.
Unfortunately, I've passed the days that I can request a refund, so I might have to take it to Samsung's store to see if they can do anything about it.

It is frustrating when sometimes something just doesn't work right. I think you're right to go to the Samsung store. I would expect them to be able to exchange it as it should still be under the manufacturer's warranty.
I guess one more thing you could try is the factory reset and go through the entire setup process to see if it that clears the problem. I guess if you have the free time it'll save a trip to the store just in case it was a buggy initialization somehow. I don't know. The only time I had a problem on the Tab S3 with my S Pen was when the nib was broken when it was in my backpack. Replacing the nib fixed it but I now keep my S Pen in an old hard shell eyeglasses case when it lives in my backpack. I'll be doing the same with my Tab S4 S Pen when I finally finish transitioning all my work over to it.

I had two Galaxy Tab S4 tablets and both had an accuracy issue. I made a video about it. Is yours like this?

Samsung doesn't seem too interested in "fixing" it. It seems like a software issue, but I also noticed the problem was worse with the bundled S-Pen. Using a Staedtler Noris Digital or a Note 8 S-Pen gives better results, but it's still not good enough I think for nearly $700.

Yes, that's similar to what I have. When writing, it is not consistent. Even with where I point my pen, the pointer is off by a few axis.

Interesting. So two people having the same problem. That is odd. There could be a manufacturing defect then for some of the units. I've also used Samsung Notes besides S-Note with no issues. I'd either return the devices for a refund / exchange or send them into repair. They should definitely not be so far off.

what is the best stylus that is available for accurate writing and sketching?
-Is the Samsung Note stylus works with the galaxy S2?
Thank you.
The Note's pen will not work as it is not as stylus, it's a digitizer pen that uses a special system in the screen.
To be honest, and I have more experience with capacitive styli than probably 99.9% of people on here, the S2 is too small to really give you good accuracy with any stylus that is designed for normal capacitive screens. A stylus is even pretty useless for notes and sketching on my 7-inch Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, and even on my iPad I rely heavily on apps that get around the inherent inaccuracy of capacitive styli with apps that have great zoom or magnification options. Navigating menus etc as an extension of your finger is one thing, but sketching and note taking is something completely different.
If you do decide to get one, stay far far away from those generic brands you find on eBay etc, and far away even from styli from Belkin, Griffin etc that you normally find in electronics stores. The more expensive styli ($20-30 range US) are in a whole other class when it comes to both accuracy and durability. I would suggest a stylus that doesn't look huge next to the S2, which eliminates some of the bigger ones out there that are big to emulate permanent markers. Both the Architect Stylus and Wacom Stylus are great and small. I have both, and they're a bit more sanely sized next to the S2 than e.g. the Cosmonaut, AluPen, Maglus etc. You might however want to look at the Jot stylus first. For accuracy on a small screen, it's probably your best bet, though the disc type tip is not to everyone's taste
Thank you very much you I think i will go with the JOT PRO.
you guys really want to see this.
i know the screen of galaxy is too small when comparing to tab,but that guy is really amazing [video is a part of avdt of stylus]
Yep, it is of course possible to do on such a small screen, but you end up zooming and panning a lot. The Galaxy Note is a whole other beast with that pen it comes with, will be interesting to see what pops up on YouTube in terms of drawings made on it
question about the stylus used in the above video

Not that they would work, but they are sold separately. Replacements for Notes, obviously
I ordered a cheap $1 Stylus off ebay some time ago, still waiting for it to arrive. While it may not be as accurate as the higher class ones, I don't really need it that bad to begin with (I've come to accept that taking notes on my SGS2 isn't a viable option).
I just tried the samsung pen and it is not as good as expected. Its not crisp and quick. Writing with my finger is better. So the pen goes back to the maker.
It may have to do with the screen protector but I doubt it.

How did you expect it to work? It's not smart like the s-pen on the note. All it is meant to do is replace a finger.

This is just Samsung cashing in on the popularity of S-Pen and charging 40 times the price of some capacitive pens with no better results.
You could tell by all of the pictures that the CPen is a gimmick. I was very disappointed when they didn't replicate the Note's SPen.

The C-pen is a complete failure, its really bad, i expected it to be better than galaxy note as there is a lotta hype created for samsung galaxy s3. I was completely taken aback with its sad precision and smoothness. The way Samsung is going i thought they must have definitely improved the feel of thw cpen but it was not. this is a set back.

The Note is marketed to a specific segment, completely different from the Galaxy S line of phones. The Note uses a Wacom digitizer for the stylus that is much more precise, whereas the S3 uses a traditional capacitive pen because it isn't marketed to have the same kind of stylus functionality as the Note (and the Wacom digitizer does add a certain amount cost) - otherwise they'd include the stylus with the S3 the same way it's included with the Note.
Actually, the C-Pen is more than a regular capacitive stylus since it apparently doesn't work with other capacitive screens for some reason, but the principle is still the same. It's like wondering why your cell phone is missing the nice 10 inch screen from a tablet.

It is a step backwards. Sure the Note was a niche market, but they didn't skimp on the stylus for it. SMemo and SNote can't be the same with the CPen. IMO they should've stuck with the design even if it is an optional accessory. It adds more functionality.

I just don't like the implication through omission of details Samsung are making that this is like the S Pen, I mean I just think they want to trick people to believing this can do the same job as S Pen because obviously it's got a similar name and they making no effort to explain it.

Adding the Wacom digitizer adds cost to the phone, so the phone would have cost more with it included. It makes sense to not include it when this is marketed to those wanting a regular phone, whereas those that are looking for specific stylus functionality can go to the Note.

I understand why they didn't offer the pen with the phone and why the Note would have one. Why they didn't make an SPen that is compatible is what I am wondering. Cost isn't an issue when sold as an accessory.

I tried this C-pen as well and it's a PoS.
Ironically, I've just taken delivery of a charging stand that comes with a free pen (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0080R6MW0/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00) and that one works better than the C-pen. (And it's an ink pen too!)
Couldn't make it up.
I am having issues with my S pen and I haven't been able to find a solution on the forums. I bought this phone from my friend but had to buy the s pen separately since he lost it.
The first pen that I bought from Amazon.com was giving me problems and I ended up returning it because I thought that maybe it was a fake. It was acting like it was touching the screen when it wasn't and when I would use it to scroll up or down on pages, it would just scroll really fast to the top or bottom of the screen. When using the S Note app, it would only write on the screen if I clicked the button in while I was writing, otherwise it would act as though I was erasing.
I just got my second pen in the mail today and it is giving me the same problems. I tried tapping and smacking and all those things but they didn't work. Then I popped off the button to adjust the potentiometer but the inside of my pen looks nothing like the inside of the pens on the videos.
I'm really frustrated that I can't just buy a pen that works properly. Am I doing something wrong? I'm ready to just return this pen and give up on the idea of using an S Pen altogether.
I know you'll pay for it, but if sPen is one of the main features you love about the Note 2, it might be worth it to buy one directly from Samsung. It's not that hard to KIRF official products after all.
How much are you paying for these flawed pens?
EDIT: OP follow this link to the Google Play store. This is an app that resets your sPen (require root) however within the description of the app, the developer mentions switching the handedness of the sPen under settings in order to sort of "calibrate" it.
Read it, try it, good luck!

So I just spoke to a Samsung representative and in summary they said no because I do not have Wacom built into my tablet. I'd just like to confirm this and does this mean our tablet would be unable to do Palm Rejection with any kind of pen?

Right. No active pen. Palm rejection can be achieved with some note taking software which provides you a dead zone where you can rest your palm. Still this is not as elegant a solution as with an active digitizer. You can also use a screen wiping cloth and just place it beneath your palm as you write. A bit kludgey but it works and it keeps your screen clean.
The other option will be to wait for the Note version of the S tablet which I am sure is forthcoming.
=/ It's too late for me now since I've bought the tablet already so I guess I'll have to find someway to work around it.
Samsung at one point had a Bluetooth Pen. Could something like that work?
I bought this tablet for copying down note after I come home from university.
Before buying it I looked around to see if there was any app for taking notes with palm rejection features, these where the two I found: Lecture Notes and INKRedible.
INKRedible is also available for apple devices and since I had an iPad 2 I could test it with, I gave it a try.. It was working quite good.
So I decided to buy my Tab s 8.4 and today I tested INKRedible, it isn't working at all... Does anyone have any clue why it isn't working? How come it is working so well on ipad and not at all on my tab s?
Is there an alternative app?
So the other day I got cheated out of a Wacom tablet on Kijiji. I saw a Note 8.0 for $50 CAD and was thinking maybe it could suit my needs instead. How precise is the digitizer, though? Since I'll be drawing with it, if it isn't precise, it's out the window for me. I've used Samsung's Tab line twice (Tab 2 and 3) and have been impressed neither time.
Also, the S Pen - it's pressure-sensitive, correct?
Thanks for your time!

Yes it is pressure sensitive, and a curate enough for some who draw on their tablet. The drawback is firmware. A tablet with 4.1.2 JB, will have accuracy, but after that you must re-align the spen once for it to recover back to proper alignment. Another option is to go with sphere kat custom kernel build and it will have the alignment fixed for you.
