I flased custom rom, twrp recovery. (unlocked, s-on)
I tried to flash stock rom with twrp recovery but failed.
I think s-off is first what I have to do.
Sunshine said " Flash the stock rom or near stock rom."
How to solve this??

S-off is not what you must do. I think you need to understand first what certain things do.
A stock HTC rom is not offered to be flashed with TWRP so that can't be done anyway, a stock HTC backup can be restored via TWRP but that's totally different from flashing it.
Custom roms are designed to flash with TWRP. Stock HTC images come as RUU files which are flashed via the download mode.
My 2 cents :
Flash leedroid and select magisk as root option. The installer does all the work and you are free from bloatware at the same time. Stock oreo rom is nice but won't be updated by HTC anyway so why not profit the things a custom rom offers you

You don't need s-off to go back to your stock OS so i have no idea why you want to spend 25$ on it.

HTC One X RUU Error 158

Hello everyone,
I am trying to roll back my rooted HTC One X to stock rom. I have done this before without any problem. At that time, HTC launched android 4.2.2 for HTC One X and I rolled back to stock rom with following steps.
1. booted into fastboot mode
2. flashed recovery image (using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img")
3. relocked oem
4. installed RUU file.
This time, when I run RUU file "RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.14.707.24_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_296434_signed.exe", I got error 158 ("image error"). Base stock version is changed from "3.14.707.24" to "4.19.707.3". And I cannot find RUU for 4.19.707.3 anywhere but only OTA file.
I don't know what to do now :crying:
My phone was locked at fastboot page and can't do anything. I can't boot into recovery. I can't use factory reset.
Please advise me how to make use of my phone again.
If RUU for 4.19 is not available, please let me know a way that I can follow either to install stock rom or custom rom. Now, I really don't know what to do.
Thanks in advanced.

Help with s-off and unbranding

Hi everyone ,
Here is my problem, I bought a french htc one m8 with orange carrier, I unlocked my bootloader and installed phil's touch recovery and then I flashed skydragon rom 4.4.2 with htc sense 6 but now I would like to flash the last skydragon lollipop but here's my problem , I can't go s-off with this rom so I can't update my firmware or change my CID, so I can't install lollipop rom without wifi's problem. I would like to know how can I do to update my firmware to 4.4.4 cause I tried to s-off with firewater but doesn't work too.
Anyone have a solution would be a god to me ^^

Firewater doesn't work anymore. HTC patched the exploit.
You'll have to use SunShine S-Off. It costs $25, but is guaranteed to work or you don't pay.
Having S-Off is totally worth $25 IMO.
Here's a link to their website.

Go to this thread. It has a collection of stock backups you can falsh to get back your stock ROM.
It also has a collection of stock recoveries to flash with ADB if you need that.
All the instructions are there.

The stock recoveries or in that link too. I'm not sure if you need them for sunshine though. Try with custom recovery, if that doesn't work, get a stock recovery.
Or get both ROM and recovery stock, then reflash a custom recovery and ROM.
If you get both to stock, you shouldn't have any issues.

First, I misunderstood your earlier question. Yes the number in front of the backups are for firmware.
To help you more, I'll need some information. Hook up your phone to your computer and start ADB. Then issue these commands:
adb reboot fastboot (wait till your phone boots into fastboot)
fastboot getvar all
Then post what the readout says here, but edit out your serial number (serialno) and IMEI for your own safety.
Then I'll be able to give you a little more guidance.

Your CID is ORANG202 and your firmware is 1.54.73.5, so you will need the backup that corresponds with that.
The backup available was made with TWRP recovery. So you'll need that. (In my opinion, TWRP is a better recovery, less issues)
You could go to their website to download it and get instructions on how to flash it, but there is a much easier way.
Go to the Play Store and install an app called TWRP Manager. Hit the three line menu thingy on the top left, and pick "Install TWRP".
After that go back to the stock backup thread and flash the backup that matches your CID and firmware.

No recovery.... ?

Is it possible to have a working phone without a recovery installed ?
Unlocked bootloader, flashed twrp 3.0.1.0, phone wouldn't boot into recovery.
Relocked bootloader cause phone is s-on, ran 401 ruu but can't get into stock recovery but otherwise phone works ok
:banghead:
There is always a recovery installed. Either the stock one or the custom one. What does it do when you go to the recovery?

Just fyi, but I'm pretty sure you can flash RUU in RUU mode with bootloader unlocked.
Phone works fine without recovery, but you can't take an ota, flash roms (custom recovery) or wipe data/cache.
I'd unlock again, and flash either stock recovery, run the RUU again, or flash TWRP 3.0.2-2. Why were you using such an old version in the first place? That's likely the cause of your issue in getting the phone to boot to TWRP.

With s-on you need to relock the bootloader to use official signed ruu files. When he flashed the ruu he could be seeing the exclamation mark that is normal as a warning before entering the stock recovery for which you need to push a volume and power button combo (don't know them heads up)
A possibility is to clear the cache and try to enter again (as this was a thingy on older HTC devices) or indeed as suggested at least to use the latest twrp available

Yes i think it does work again. But that's a try and find out. There is always the possibility i could be wrong.
Edit :
This is why i love s-off....no more relocking / unlocking the BL with also an increased chance of bricks. The BL isn't made to be relocked and unlocked over and over.

Sorry, but I believe this is misinformation, possibly residual to older HTC devices. I've heard this going back to the M7.
You need to be s-off to flash in download mode, but s-on can flash signed firmware and ruu's in RUU mode. I'm s-off so I can't test at the moment, but I'm about 99% that my information is correct.
S-on, you can only flash same or newer, though. You can't flash older firmware.
See post 19 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/unlocked-official-ruu-t3378540/page2
I'm 100% that you can flash signed firmware package in ruu mode with bootloader unlocked and s-on.

I'm not exactly sure, but up until 3.0.2.2 Captain Throwback didn't even have the device and was working blind. I know he was trying different things to make it compatible with different variants, too, so in my mind that was a test build. I'm not sure why they have it on the downloads page. For me, I always download it from the download section of the twrp thread.

Softbrick or sth else? Ideas welcome

Hi guys,
I tried to make a custom rom on my new HTC10 - something goes wrong (no it wasnt my first one )
But now I am a little bit stucked:
First the data:
** UNLOCKED **
htc_pmeuhl PVT S-OFF
CID-11111111
MID-2PS620000
ColorID-WHT00
LK-1.0.0.0000

OpenDSP-v20.0.8996.00007_0809
OS-2.41.401.41
Aug 2 2017,12:18:15(857212)
The Error happend after "updating" the firmware cause the Lee-Rom suggested the newst one. After the first "Loop" I tried the next one and the next and the next... I dont know how much Firmwares I tried honestly...
I am able to boot into TWRP and I am able to come back to Stock Recovery... So that will work... Maybe my partition crasehd with the Rom?
Any Idea or a little step by step suggestion?
I did the "How to root and TWRP" - Youtube tutorial by Rootjunky and until than everything worked fine... after that the failed Firmware-Update...
I have an EU-Phone, based in Germany
Hope anyone can help and thanks a lot for any ideas!

You are on the latest firmware for you phone. Did you try flash a US Unlocked firmware? Best thing to do is to flash the latest WWE RUU. Thanks @Kisakuku

Download and rename the zip to 2PS6IMG. zip
Place on external sdcard
Boot to download mode and press volume uo to flash. The RUU will erase EVERYTHING but you will be completely stock.

RUU = Rom Update Utility. It flashes the phone completely as if it came out of the box. Firmware, software.... the whole thing.

So I just have to flash the RUU - after that if the bootloader is still unlocked I can go ahead to flash a custom rom - right?
Thank you very much guys!

Yup, flash the RUU, the bootloader will indeed remain unlocked. Flash TWRP and install the desired custom rom

You mention flash gapps, for sense roms you don't have to do that, for aosp roms yes. But most of the time it's mentioned in the OP of aosp roms that you have to flash it twice, or flash the boot.img seperatly via fastboot to make it work. The correct gapps will do wonders too...... so i guess one of those things were the issue.

Go S Off on nougat custom ROM with USB port not working

Hi. My USB C port recently died so I cannot upgrade firmware and get root/flash roms again as I cannot flash recovery without USB connection. As a solution I want to S Off my phone and use a no wipe RUU to switch to oreo firmware. So I wanted to ask:
1. Is it possible to use Sunshine on an AOSP Nougat rom on 2.41 WWE firmware?
2. If not then is it possible to go S Off on stock unrooted nougat (assuming I flash RUU) using sunshine app?
3. If not then If I restore an untouched Sense system backup through twrp would it be possible to use Sunshine to go S Off?
4. If I flash Oreo RUU is it possible to go S Off without obtaining root?
Thanks for answering.

Sunshine app will only work if you are already on a rooted stock rom, or if you have Marshmallow stock software.

So if I flash untouched Nougat system twrp backup and subsequently flash supersu I can do it? Or do ai need to flash stock boot img too? Is there any solution for me or am I screwed?
There is no such thing as a no wipe RUU. Why don't you share your official (download Mode) OS number, if there is an Oreo RUU.zip you don't even need s-off and saves you 25$.
And if you have a booting device you can always flash a recovery. Download the TWRP app or flashify from the store and the recovery you want and select it to flash. No need for USB connections to the phone.

Huh. But like if I flash a RUU zip I'd be on stock recovery and lose root which is required for flashify and twrp app. And to get root/flash twrp again I'd have to use fastboot which requires PC access. Or am I wrong? I'll reboot and give you the OS number. Thanks a lot for helping me btw.

Easiest way
Flash a stock like nougat rom like an old Maximus build. Then use sunshine.
Then you can flash firmware.zips with TWRP included, that rules out any USB connection.

So like if I repack the 2ps(sth).zip with a twrp recovery it will still flash? I thought if you edit the firmware zip it fails some check and won't flash in download mode.

Hence to s-off first with a stock like nougat rom. Read my post again.
Once s-off just get the firmware.zip with TWRP or get the firmware.zip "open" it and replace recovery.img. that's all
