I have a problem with the pdanet app when installing the version in android 8.1, I happen to see a warning that says: your device is not compatible with wps, and does not share wifi signal from that app, which does not happen with android 7, someone do you have any solution?
PS: sorry for my english..
Same problem here. I have a Moto G5s, and wifi sharing doesnt work when I updated to Android Oreo.

I used to use the following app - it requires root & a bit of knowledge to set it up - read their instructions
It may work for you - I no longer have this device so I can't give you the config for it but try goggling & seeing if a config is already on their site
I used it to bypass the mobile network tether throttle so they couldn't detect you are tethering & reduce your speed
It is a paid app though but Google is your friend

Thanks, but my phone doesnt have root permission

Without root you are basically using the phones native wifi hotspot
Can you not activate wifi hotspot via the wifi settings in your phones settings menu?
Technically all apps that don't use root are just using their app & interface to turn on wifi hotspot which you should be able to yourself via wifi settings

I hope I can help you
the only way I can make it work is to be connected to a Wi-Fi network regardless of whether there is a network or not and then we enter the hotspot in the PDANET app and then you disconnect from the network without turning off the wifi and keep sharing the signal .
it's the only way I can make it work

You need to be a bit more detailed than that. What rom are you using? When did you initially notice the problem? Is there a built-in adblocker associated with the tom you're using? If so, it is very possible that the host file is outdated. To remedy it, you need to download and install the adfree app from the market. Start the app and select either revert (ads) or update host file (no ads) and then reboot your device. This *is* the fix for many internet related problems with several custom roms. This *may* fix your issue.
Hi
I installed CM11 by Olivier, which there's a known problem, is WiFi tethering. I installed FoxFi free version. I set up all SSId and password and it says WIFI Hotspot Ready, but my iPad cannot connect to the WiFi.
Can you help me solve the problem? Thanks!

i installed OpenGarden WiFi Tether Community Version. I can config SSID, password. But, when I touch 'Start Open Garden Tethering'. It force close and asked me to check the log file. Unfortunately, when I press 'Show Log', it force close again.
Any other apps can you recommend?
updated to pie. rooted with magisk. checked tethering and it failed. tried the build.prop edit to bypass and no go. anyone else experience this?
EDIT: fixed. Had to update magisk to v16.7 on beta channel so it would root Pie properly.
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using XDA Free mobile app
Glad you got it fixed, but this isn't the correct forum to ask questions. Please ask in the Q&A Section

Do you have the tethering zip file you could share? I cannot find it in the store and I need tether.

This is the last version I have.
When you say 'tried the build.prop edit to bypass', are you referring to adding 'net.tethering.noprovisioning=true' to the build.prop file? Was it the same procedure that was described in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/how-to/root-guide-native-hotspot-t3493286 ?
I upgraded to Android 9 Pie this morning and lost tethering, so I just wanted to check if you have verified that this works on Pie before going through the procedure again. Thank you!
Hey. Just saw this, and am on a Google pixel with pie, and have no problem tethering, as I discovered a homerun of a fix, provided you have root.
Just download VPN hotspot (by mygod), VPN tether (by jarvanh) and a VPN (I use the one with the bears in the tunnel). Turn the VPN on, then enter VPN hotspot. Toggle hotspot IN THE APP ONLY, return and enable the wlan0 option that will appear after hotspot engages. Then, open VPN tether, toggle on, and Viola! Endless hotspot. It will be viewable on your data usage only under the app title of your VPN, and thus as unlimited as any other usage.
As with all things, however, there's a drawback, which is excessive battery drain. But it definitely works and can be done, for free, and without a build prop tweak, as I haven't bothered working it in anymore, because I am positive it doesn't matter. But, if you wanted to stick with the prop tweak, add it to your /default.prop as well as /system/build.prop and then in a terminal (as root) enter "setprop net.tethering.noprovisioning true"
Which can be verified with the command "getprop net.tethering.noprovisioning".
Hopefully you enjoy.

Could you fix it? same problem
Forget your saved networks and sign back in
Forget networks and connect again
I think that's a bug if you install the GSI with the wrong bootloader...
Maybe that's your problem
unfortunately after I installed latest security patch update (1 Nov 2022) on my poco f3 phone, the USB tethering function doesn't work properly.
before this update usb tethering on my work pc and my laptop work like a charm but after installing this security patch update when i connect my phone to work pc and turn usb tethering on the NDIS network adapter appears on windows 10 OS and enabled but can't sent or receive any packet data nor dhcp data.
i test this function with my partner's phone and it's work without problem.
My phone MIUI version is 13.0.9 SKHEUXM.
anyone can help?
