Yup weird strategy from Nokia. i thought after 7 Plus they will update Nokia 8 and Sirocco to pie but they decided to go for Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus. Anyways, have you received the October Security Patch on your Nokia 8

No. My latest sec. update is for September. And it came very late in September. For example for my other device Xperia Xz2 Compact this came on first week in month.
But that is understandable. Sirocco is not so popular device. Nokia best sellers 7x and 6x is first. This is marketing.

Yup that's what I think too. But, I have a feeling that Android Pie will be great for Nokia 8 Sirocco and hope they unlock the bootloader of Sirocco next so that we can get proper Gcam port from developers with dual camera usage. I have no hope from Nokia getting the camera app right. Its been more than a year and their camera app is the same in every phone, It performs the worst. And, the difference between Gcam and Nokia Camera is day and night.
Nokia Cam app received improvement with latest September update. Make better photoh in low light. But Yes Gcam is way way better in low light. And I have comprasions between S8, Xz2 compact and Sirocco. I have posted them here in Life Reviev/ Photo section.
Sirocco in low light is good with GCam app.
Here is the quick comparison between the two camera apps. Huge difference I must say.

Security patch was failing for me, but I'm thinking it's something to do with root/magisk.
I have done a full factory restore back to June and am trying the whole OTA process again. Very few people have this phone unlocked so I'll keep everyone updated and hope HMD haven't done anything in the December OTA to block bootloader unlocked devices.
It's possible it's just the magisk OTA method not working for some reason.
Also in regards to pie, with the leaked OTA files you had to install the leaked December security update first, and then Pie. So fingers crossed Pie still drops today/tomorrow/next few days.

I guess there was something stuck between the button and the screen... Like a sandgrain or something. The screen can't handle any pressure from the side, if you feel any resistance, which i felt a tiny bit, then be careful! I heard a very soft "tick", then 20 minutes later i looked and saw the crack...

Since August, I've been receiving at least one update EVERY month.
This one is out - and it's not even the end of November.
Its unprecedented! Anyone else? I think Samsung is doing very well. And the phone is better with battery usage after every update.

I read your reply today and I've checked if I have an update waiting for me aswell and it turns out although we live in different countrires in EU thre's an sec. update waiting for me.... about the same size.
But this one is strange. Even if full LTE signal It downloads very slowly. I wonder why?

I'm sure (I hope) You all (especialy XDA users) know the theory of making a device worse in performance (more lagging, lessm battery life etc.) by hidding a spcial code in sec. updates.
Well maybe that's what Samsung is doing cause like I've told You a thousand times S6E+ is (maybe until S9) the pbest fone release yet.
To motivate ppl to upgrade even from S8 Samsung may start rolling out bad updates.
Today I've talked to a guy that suddenly, 2-3 days after the premiere of S9/S9+ saw that his S8 has suddenly slowed down. He didn't install any new apps or did nothing unusual. Even didnt get the Oreo update.
Think about that.
I've isntalled the sec update. Have now from 1st Feb 2018 and for some time I see that espcially the battery life is going suddenly down.
You need to know that since I purchaed the phone I used it only once a month. Latley 4 times a month. Never installed more apps than 5. Even a loooong time ago after purchase I got rid of Microsoft apps and some other non Google and non Samsung.
Something fishy is about that.

Good question but I estimate 90% the answer would be NO
There isn't any official announcement but. Seeing the pattern of providing update and the maintenance release notes for June patch. no one can expect Oreo till August/September as. It would take July to get updated security patch on every retail channel after which they will release another release which MAY be oreo. Which would actually take another month for full implementation.

I get your frustration with Motorola, but Huawei is much worse. They put out a public statement about major upgrades and patching and then did neither. Customer support was horrible.
Moto may suck, but Huawei sucks much more.

This was days ago. Guys, calm down! About 20 threads in the news and q&a section about Oreo.
I had do unbookmark these threads because every day someone opens another thread with NO information and I get pinged. Please start opening theads when something really happens. I would like to receive Oreo too but these "news" doesn't help anyone. Nothing against this OP, it's the mass that is annoying.

I really want to, but those camera bugs on Oreo custom roms annoys me, so I'm using stock rom again and one reason that I bought this phone months ago is because Motorola said that it was going to update to Oreo, which is frustrating to not seeing it yet.
Oreo will happen.
It's just a matter of when?
We're just lower down the priority list than newer phones (like any other manufacturer).
We should hopefully be next after Moto G5S, so watch for when that starts rowling out.

Employees in Xiaomi support suck a**. They don't know the slightest thing they're talking about. Last time I asked them when we were gonna get the Android 10 update they told me "very soon", "we're working on it" etc. All evasive responses. Some other dude asked Xiaomi support and they told him we'd get it two weeks after he asked which was about 1,5 months ago. So, don't trust Xiaomi support, they don't know what they're saying/doing. But I believe in January we'll get the update, a really crappy one. Just like how it was with Android Pie, full of bugs and missing features. LOL :laugh:

I agree that the Custom ROMs are very stable right now, but I can't trust them. That's the reason I'm still using stock ROM with locked BL in 2019 haha. I wish Xiaomi cared more for their Android One devices, but it seems they only wanted hop on another trend real quick and they are technically not giving a sh*t at all. When I first bought this phone, I expected all Android One devices to run the same OS, but somehow Nokia Android One devices get better, faster and more polished updates. I wish I had gotten the Nokia 7.1 when I had the chance. Shame.

Less than 24 hours from now. You might have to manually download it and apply the OTA yourself to get it that fast, but we'll see. No idea if or how much of a delay it would be before you would actually get it over the air.

I've found that it's usually about 10am Pacific Time (California).
Edit: Reddit seems to think that it's more around noon PT. Now that I think about it, that sounds about right. I seem to get the update during a busier time at work rendering my device somewhat temporarily neutered until it's done updating.

Crappy old 1st Gen Samsung modem there using that is why. 5g download freeze is a nightmare and yes signal on wi-fi and mobile a lot weaker

Maybe Samsung refused to sell it for Google's use in the Pixel. Maybe they would've charged too much and Google would've had to charge hundreds of dollars more. I have long suspected that Samsung has certain stipulations about Google's devices so that they're not too competitive except where it counts (to me), the software. We'll probably never know why.

probably supply issues , its also an external modem
chip shortage is real also the tensor is newer than the exynos used in the s20 ultra but also customised for google
the gpu is faster but obviously some things lacking and i dont think samsung would have been able to supply their current flagchips components alongside the google launch which had stock issues of its own
that said the price range for this phone is insanely low compared to others so some cut corners are fine
for me i dont even get to enjoy 5G in 90% of the situations im in due to slow rollout

To answer your question, no.
I have learned that waiting for the stable release is worth it. If being first is your priority, than a custom ROM may be your ticket. But there are not many custom ROMS for the Fold 3.
That being said, I believe the Fold 3 is lower on the list because of number of units sold.
If you are impatient, hope you don't have a locked phone. Some carriers, like T especially, you will be waiting even longer!

why do all the other phones have android 12 and current softwares while the top of the line Samsung z fold 3 lacks severely in this department ???
is there anyway we can take some action as to this matter as it of utmost importance

And since I've had Android 12 on my ZF3 for about a month now, I'd say the fact that Samsung is second only to Pixel when it comes to update time frame, I'd say that's pretty damn good.

No, and I've also been on the beta since it rolled out. However I give Samsung a lot of credit for doing their homework and research before releasing the live version. Go to any OnePlus forum and you will see a laundry list of complaints because everything was rushed. I think us Samsung owners are in a good place.

What could possibly be the utmost importance about android 12? Your phone will operate exactly the same without the update. All the update is going to bring are updated UI elements.
Does your phone not work on 11?
The only thing I'm frustrated about is how the phone paint at the exposed areas are peeling badly. It's not even 6 months and the peel is spreading out. And yes, I did go to the service centre and is not covered under warranty.

Apparently you haven't been keeping up with Samsung updates over the last few years. They roll out MUCH faster now.
Not really Samsung that I haven't kept up on but Verizon. I haven't had a Verizon version phone in years because they held updates up for at least a year when unlocked phones already had them. I prefer bl unlocked phones but have no choice with the fold.

Canadians just got Android 12 today for Note 20 and Fold 3 so don't think you are that hard done by. The worst part of it is the files are all stamped Dec 23rd so Samsung sat on the update for over three weeks before it sent it to its customers. Also, still no dual SIM for Fold 3???
