I just bought a used sim unlocked HTC 10 Verizon off eBay yesterday, it was shipped with marshmallow firmware and I successfully managed to update it to the 7.0 nougat through htc sync manager, however after updating it to 7.0 sync manager shows that the phone is updated to the latest version and there aren't any further updates available, we all know that verizon released an 8.0 update as well for the htc 10. Also, I tried updating through OTA but whenever I press on check updates it says "Cannot connect, we had trouble checking for the system updates." Can anybody provide me with an SD card backup or anything so that I can update my phone to 8.0 officially without losing data? I just want to update it to 8.0 and nothing else, don't want to root it or anything. So far the device seems amazing.
Some information about my phone:
Model Number: HTC 6545LVW
Current Software Version: 2.41.605.36
EDIT: Please close this thread, I didn't know there is a separate category for HTC VERIZON. Posting it there.

Hi, I have a friends Galaxy Note 2 from AT&T which is currently running 4.1.2. Looking around I see that at least 4.3 is available for this model (4.4 as well), but the software update application says that there's no update available and sometimes if I'm lucky it says that the update checking was interrupted and to try again in 24h.
The phone has not been rooted, although right now it's in Spain instead of the US and using a local SIM card.
Is 4.1.2 the last update for the phone or is there anything wrong? How come there are reports of 4.3 or 4.4 being available and the update manager still says it's running the latest version? The reported baseband is I317UCAMA4.
By the way, Kies also says that it's already running the latest version.
Thanks anyway for your time, regards.
OK so I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 from ATT Model SM-T707A. I recently switched from AT&T to T-Mobile. The new firmware came out (5.0.2). Supposedly, it can only be downloaded off OTA. Well, since I'm not with AT&T anymore, it won't let me do it that way. I tried searching everywhere for a way to download it and install it manually but I've been failing miserably. Can anyone help me out?
•Software Version: 5.0.2
•Baseband Version: T707AUCU1BOE5
•Kernel Version: 3.4.39-4973971
•Build#: LRX22G.T707AUCU1BOE5
I also haven't been able to find any information on SUCCESSFULLY rooting this model as well.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hey man,
Did you try updating via Samsung Kies? Details here:

Click on "update via computer".
Cheers,
Su
Shouldn't make any difference what carrier you are on. You don't have to have a sim card in the device to update.
AFAIK it still updates from samsungs servers using the model and build number of your device.
By the looks of it you are already running 5.0.2 if that's your current firmware.
As said above just use kies/smart switch to update, if there actually is one.
There was a ~130MB update released a few weeks back (presumably for stage fright?).
It takes the build from BOE4 to BOE5... not sure if this shuts out Kingroot etc.?!
This thread says you have to have an active AT&T SIM card to upgrade.

Have you tried Samsung kiosk at Best Buy?
FYI, I was able to update a AT&T galaxy tab s with stock OTA update over WiFi, without any SIM in the tablet.
After bricking my first tablet, I learned that the boot loader is locked and that the factory Rom is not available for this device (and a lot of AT&T devices). It was replaced luckily but now I face a different set of issues. The update to Marshmallow is available but I cannot update it no matter what I do. Obviously I am worried about tinkering too much because of the possibility of bricking it again. Yes it is rooted, and that's why it refuses to update.
Would it be wise to try to mask the root with an xposed module, since I can't seem to fully remove the root itself?
good luck getting any answers on this device. If been asking about downgrading from 6.0 so I can get root. No helpful information for the ATT variant.
I can't find any updated when I try for this device. How did you go about getting a replacement ?
I would be fine with a rom image to install and a root. But I want my 6.0 that I am deserving
You can't retain root if you're going from Android 5x to android 6x because of the changes to ART. Maybe one day some crafty dev will figure out how to root an AT&T 6x device with a locked bootloader but unfortunately that day isn't today.
If you are looking to root and customize your device then stay off of att.

I have an LG Gpad X 10.1 v930 (AT&T) which I am unable to update to Marshmallow via OTA Update. I haven't rooted my device, yet I am not able to receive the update via OTA. Is there any other way I can update to Marshmallow? I tried to use LG Bridge but it keep giving me message "Cannot check software version".
I just recently got the v930 from AT&T, and I've tried Kingroot, but it did not work. It came with MM already installed, and I can't find very much information on this tablet. So If you want root, then it's probably best not to upgrade.

Did you ever find a solution? I just got a used one that is still on 5.1.1 and doesn't see any available updates.

My tablet originally had an ATT sim card so I borrowed an ATT sim card, checked again for update through settings. Connected to the ATT server and got the update.

Put in an ATT sim card so you can connect to their server for the update.
I purchased a Galaxy Note 5 from eBay. It came with Android 5.1.1, i have tried doing a software update but says i have the latest software. I have tried updating through Samsung Smart Switch but says my device is not supported. I have read other people have updated to Android 6 but it will not update mine. Is there anything else i can do? My device is the N920A. Thanks
You need to have an (activated) AT&T SIM Card in the phone before you can get OTA updates on an AT&T model - that really stinks doesn't it? !!!
However if you are willing to do a factory reset and use ODIN to flash the firmware upgrade, you can get the July 6.0.1 Marshmallow update form here:
http://www.androidsage.com/2016/06/...5-to-n920aucu2bpe6-android-6-0-1-marshmallow/
I am in Canada and was wondering if it would work to get a AT&T pay as you go sim card for the phone and then do the update over wifi?
Have now done the upgrade and running Marshmallow, thanks for your help
Good to hear ... did you use Odin or did you find an AT&T SIM for OTA update?
You can also apply all the OTA updates using ADB sideload (but that factory resets your handset every time, so do a full backup with Smart Switch PC app beforehand)
Hi guys, I recently purchased a refurbished S9+ without knowing the model and it turned out to be a SM-G965U. After a failed software update ("Your current software isn't supported. Visit a service centre"), I've been trying to find a way to update the phone to 'official' Android 10. Does anyone know if this is possible or is the phone locked to Android 9?
'OEM Unlock' is missing from developer settings which (I think) means it can't be rooted with any common method. But is it possible to flash the phone with an official, working version of Android 10?
I'm willing to use any method required (within reason) to update the phone to a working version of Android 10. I'm aware of the "Extreme Syndicate" root method but the bugs / missing features rule it out for me. I intend to get a refund for the phone if it can't be updated to Android 10 so I'd really appreciate any answers to my questions.
Thanks!
You can manually update your phone by using Odin, and download the latest firmware available by using Frija

That's good news. Just to confirm, I can manually update with Odin WITHOUT unlocking OEM in the develop settings? Thanks for replying.
Just confirming that I successfully updated to Android 10 using Odin. The CSC I used is for an American carrier and the phone tries to register on its network but that's easily disabled. Had to be done after every reboot but it's a small price to pay for a working phone....
Hello Guys, I'm currently stuck on G965USQU3ZRLG
I made use of firmware.science to update my S9 plus to this point, but it seems there's no further firmware update for G965USQU3ZRLG to the next update file. Kindly assist, thank you.
