LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Instructions
First time flashing Lineage OS 16.0 your device?
Coming from a SENSE ROM?
Enable all location services: Settings > Location > (all location services) = On
Coming from another ROM?
Download the zip(s).
Install a compatible Recovery
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM (Optional)
Wipe data & cache partitions of your device (required when coming from stock!).
Flash LineageOS.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.

Working great on Verizon so far, but it took two resets to get simcard to work
How's this build going for you? I'm having lte signal issues, lte would come in then get a no sim card message, this process repeats every 5 mins. Anyone else with this issue?

Can we have this update on OTA?
I am using a SPRINT HTC M9 and I had no problems using these builds as well as the 8.0 builds of LineageOS. When I tried updating to the latest version I just got an error 7. Any chance you can change it so It will be allowed to install on the sprint HTC M9 as well again?
What is the difference between himaul and himawl? I plan to flash Verizon device what rom should I use?

himawl is Verizon version of htc m9 device different modem implementation and tweaks with the radio , frequencies ...etc
they both share the same processor , ram , spec's
- and do not flash any rom except ones thats made for your version of the device ,it may cause a problem for your device

Just building with that local manifest will make a build that does not have dual sim support you will need to include a cherry-pick from gerrit there is also a few cherry-picks from the slim gerrit for dual sim stuff (Run it on the root of your build dir)

There is no playstore app either. Double tap to wake takes time. Not as responsive as cm.

MMS isn't working for me and camera pictures are very grainy compared to stock. Overall seems smooth and quicker than stock. Really like some of the custom options on here. Tap2wake and tap2sleep work fine too.

AOSP is Android as Google publish without other modifications. More or less AOSP is the Nexus devices stock rom without gapps.

Actually, NXrom and purity were meant to be aosp based, but as we did not have a successful they could't

Instructions:
1. Make sure you're using the proper bootloader and radio version. Extract them from the latest Marshmallow factory image from Google and flash them via fastboot!
2. Update recovery [Recommended -> TWRP for hammerheadcaf. Recoveries for hammerhead work as well.]
3. Factory reset if coming from another ROM.
4. Install ROM
5. Install GApps (optionally) [Recommended -> Open GApps (arm) (7.1)]

Every CM build mainly uses CyanogenMod sources from their GitHub. That's what we currently have. It takes some time to implement all CM features into the new code base but yes, it will be a 'proper' CM ROM. Give it a few more months.

If you flash the ROM and Gapps in one-go, Settings app and Play services keep force-closing. Unlike other ROMs I cannot exit setup wizard to give them permissions.

I actually started to read up on how to build roms myself last week, just to learn abit more..
I installed Linux, set up a github account and forked device tree and all that, but no time to finish it yet..

To help out, you'll need to add this to your .repo/local_manifests/roomservice.xml in whatever ROM you choose to build.
You often need to adjust the .mk files in the tree as AOSP will not build without changing "lineage_x" to "aosp_x" for example. Similar for Omni etc..

Devlopment on LineageOS 14.1 is started, but the aging Lolipop blobs are missing some symbols so it's very much a WIP. More focused on making 6.0 work properly

As far as I'm aware KCAL is only for qcom mdss driver

Xiaomi released a broken, un-buildable one with the wrong defconfig. I have been fixing it here.
