Will there ever be a google camera without being rooted ? - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
i was wondering if there is a google camera app for mi a2 lite without being rooted ?

I assume so if someone put really hard work into it, I have been searching for alternatives but nothing so.

Dont think it's possible to run Gcam without Camera2 API enabled, which I believe requires root access to enable on this device.

So you rooted this phone ha? Have you checked if camera2 api can be enabled like they enabled in redmi 4 (because both has SD 625 chipset) so i guess editing the build.prop file should enable camera2 api just like in redmi note 4. Have you checked (considering the fact that you have rooted your phone)?

I'm on RR 5.8.3 and camera2 seems to be enabled already. I just checked using the app Manual Camera Compatibility, and also managed to enable it in Open Camera with no problems.
Also using the app Camera2 probe

New version ofMIUICamera from Mi MIX2

Hello xda users!
New version of MIUICamera from Mi Mix2 is working on other Xiaomi devices (I have tested it on Mi6 and it's working so good). Supposedly is's working on Rn3(kenzo), Rn4(mido), Redmi 3S(land) too.
Download link: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120765077
To use this app you must copy MiuiCamera.apk file to /system/priv-app/MiuiCamera, give it 644 permissions and reboot the phone.
Thanks to @cyker31 for creating flashable zip
Link: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329050992
If you don't want to edit system files by yourself you can only install this zip in recovery.
Write what you think of the new camera application

Which model of phone do you have?
Just tested it on my MI6, everything works, there's nothing new, only the UI changed I don't really recommend installing it though, because I feel it starts up slower than the original app.

Yes.
works amazing! I love it, thank you very much, I was afraid That would not work with the telephoto lens, but it works perfect on manual and portrait mode...
if someone wants to try it, I made a flashable file, which also enables camera2 api
if it crashes, give access to all permissions in the settings of the app

Is the quality of the photos better compared to the stock app? Does it work without rooting the Mi 6? ...and how to flash it? Sorry for bothering with so many questions and thanks for your patience

1. the quality, perhaps, is the same, but adds a couple of options in the photos, and makes it easier to capture photos, is more intuitive.
2. can work without root, BUT, need to be installed via recovery, (like cwm or twrp) and this is complex, you need to unlock the bootloader, and put in danger the phone (if you do not know what you're doing, of course)
3. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask , good luck anyway.

I think the same! In deed I think that manual mode works better. This app is a lot heavier than original one, (double) and maybe has been fixed on some areas

Hello. Any news for gcam?
I installed this one earlier today and it's working great so far. Front and back camera are working, Night Sight as well. The only thing that I'm struggling with right now are motion pictures, but oh well...

Sorry for the late response. No, really nothing except enabling the Camera2 API.
Ever since I've been on Android Pie I've been using this apk "MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2b_plus.apk" quite regularly and it hasn't let me down. It's really stable, doesn't FC, and all of the features work without a problem.
Hey guys
found an interesting
gcam
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-TlnNeun_Urnyx05-v3.4.apk
And video 4k
https://www.mediafire.com/file/lxnjqdbkw0355bu/Fotocamera_org.lineageos.snap.apk/file
Ah yes. Having a Mac instead of Windows disallows me from using mi unlock tool. Btw, this is strange for me, as never needed any special unlocking step on my old note 3.
Is there anyone who enabled camera 2 API on the latest MIUI? I tried to but it does not work.
I tried without eooting, and just booting in TWRP and changing/adding the values to build.prop.

I have check this in Dev check before enabling camera2api it shows 20mp for front camera and after enabling it shows 5mp.... Now only xiaomi can fix that issue

Yes you can go over 5MP on front cam, but that's in custom aosp rom with pre-enabled camera2api, not sure about miui.

You can activate cam2api by adb without root but unlocked bootloader is a must!!!
Search google for proper tutorials for your version of android (android or pie) because there are different approaches to achieve this!
There is no need to flash twrp permanently!
For example, you can have a look here:
https://miui.blog/redmi-note-5/enable-camera2-api-whyred-pie/
Good luck!

Enabling camera2api without root, at least didn't work for my Redmi Note 5 AI running 10.3.2.0.
I did try all those tutorials talking about temporary booting on Redwolf recovery, may be flashing the same would work but that isn't we want here.
My Whyred did not encounter any issues doing this procedure to activate cam2api! I guess one should have all the correct drivers and an unlocked bootloader would not face any bumps at all... I did it on Oreo, on Pie even now on miui 11. I have cam2api enabled following that type of tutorials.

Or magisk patch
Add Riru, MagiskHide Props config module,safetynet-fix from Magisk app.
Download and install manual APK will be fix
https://netflix.id.uptodown.com/android
This comment fixed it for me:
Unable to install Netflix after rooting
So, I managed to root this beauty 1+9 Pro relatively easily. I got Magisk installed, and hid all the Apps that needed hiding. Even Google Pay works. But I can't for my sanity figure out why Netflix or Android OS 11 is refusing to let me install...
forum.xda-developers.com
Use Magisk hide and delete the Play Store App data.
