Hi all,
There's no mention of Fast/Quick charging anywhere about with this phone and every review I've seen specifically mention it's not supported.
I've just plugged my phone into a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 power bank and the below icon has appeared. Is this a quick charge icon?
It definitely seems to be charging quicker than with other chargers I've used.
Yes, that is Qualcomm quick charge icon. It supports QC 3.0.
Mine says charging fast when plugged in so its supported.
And it goes really fast. I can watch youtube and the percentage will tick tock upwards every few seconds even when being used.
It comes with QC 3.0 charger... Hello...

The charger I received with my device definitely doesn't trigger the QC icon. I'm UK based and it's an EU charger through an adaptor so that might be screwing it up.

Yes, they give crap adapters from china always. Get this and a good cable. I have it. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B075V42TN8/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_jpmQBbA9EPRB6

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Nextbit Robin can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Charging speed with a Quick Charge 2.0 adapter is as expected: excellent. It is in line with other phones with the same capability.

I'm not sure, but I've tested it with Aukey (wall) and Anker (car) chargers, both work fine with Quick Charge 2.0 speeds.
I charged with the official charger and a Iselector Qualcomm quick charge and nothing as well. Iselector worked on both the V10 and G4. Not sure why this is not working
Nevermind. Charging fast now. False Alarm lol
I thought the charging speed was great when I wasn't paying attention, but when I did actually pay attention and time it, it took about 1 hour and 40 minutes to fully charge. So, I would check into that. Also, the Robin doesn't seem to be USB-C Power Delivery Compliant to deliver the rapid charging like the Nexus 6p and Nexus 5x does, so getting fast charging from USB-C chargers that take USB-C to USB-C cables is useless, you'll get standard speeds. So please implement USB-C Power Delivery in the successor to the Nextbit Robin, so we can enjoy that fast charging technology as well, in addition to Qualcomm Quick Charge fast charging technology.
I am waiting for my Robin to be delivered. I am really confused about the charger. Does it show anything on the screen when a proper quick charge 2 charger is used. Like, in my Nexus 5X when I use original charger it shows "charging rapidly" but when I use another charger it shows "charging" or "charging slowly" depending on the source.
I'm from Bangladesh and it's hard to find a certified QC 2.0 charger. Is it ok if I buy a charger which is has 5V2A or 9V2A or 12V1.5A written on it?

What version of the os?
With a Qualcomm 3.0 charger and 3.0 cables, I get 2500ma speeds (12.5w). Only when charging from less than 50% though. The charging speed slows down as you approach 100%. The lock screen should say "charging rapidly" if it's working though.

You can use it but Quickcharge won't work because the OP3 only supports Dash Charge...
I tried several different chargers: 2A, 2,4A 3A. I'm only getting 1,5A if I dont use the original charger AND the original cable. I tried the original charger with a longer USB-C Cable and it did not dash charge at all.
So if I use a different charger and different cable it'll charge at the same 1.5A's as using original cable and different charger?
Yeah, as reported and reviewed everywhere, the only way to fast charge this phone is with the factory adapters and cables. It will still charge just fine with other adapters/cables - but you will NOT get fast charging with it. Just regular speeds.

If it is the original charger, as sold by OnePlus, then yes Dash Charge will work.
I haven't seen this mentioned at all or not sure if the s8 supported qc 3.0 or Power delivery but does the S9 support QC 4.0 or 4.0+ or even qc 3.0 or Power Delivery like the Pixels?

QC 2.0 in a 2018 flagship phone is blasphemy.
Apparently USB-PD is also supported but is throttled.
Seems like samsung is treading lightly when it comes to battery, who could blame them.
The Note 8 supports Power Delivery, so I assume the S9 will as well.

While I see that it only is rated for 2.0, I've gotten used to 3.0 with my LG phone. The G6 charges fairly quickly. I would miss the fast charging speeds if it isn't as fast as the LG.
I'm looking forward to any fast charging aspect since my current phone doesn't have any of those features. Since Apple hasn't "invented" it yet...

Oh yes... my bad forgot they do have that function, just with the included accessories it still doesn't "fast charge" because apple wants you to purchase the $30-50 cable or wall charger to make it happen.
I noticed that charging takes around 30mins longer on my s9 compared to my s7. I'm not sure if that's because it might have a bigger battery or they've purposely slowed down charging to prevent an explosion lol. The phone doesn't seem to heat up while charging like it did with my s7.

It does have the same battery size. Nice that it doesn't heat up the phone.
By chance where you using the phone while it was charging? It will kick it from quick charge to standard charge if the display is on.

True...ish.
I use Anker's 30w charger (and I do use Apple's USB-C to Lightning cable). It wasn't that big of a deal for me because I needed a new work/travel charger setup anyway.

No, it is not. Not even my S7 Edge did that. Fast Charge stays regardles if you have the display on or of, if you're using the phone or not. I heard (but not confirmed tho) that this happens during WIRELESS CHARGING. This I don't know and cannot say if it is true or not. But the fast charge with the original Samsung wall charger will not switch from "fast" to "normal" unless it's an issue
When fast charging my charge voltage wont go above 7.5v when the QC2 spec alows 9v and 12v.
There was annoying sound coming out from the usb port of the S9+ when i plugged the device using Anker QC3 charger.

Curious to hear other experiences, but my T-Mobile S9+ is very erratic with PD support. Using Anker's latest five port charger with PD, my S9+ will start indicating "fast charging", but will always drop back to "cable charging" at a very slow speed. Hmm.

On my S7, and I'm pretty sure the Edge uses the same charging technology, it'll switch from [email protected],6A=~15W to [email protected]=~5W after I turn on the display, just because it says fast charging that doesn't mean it's actually doing that. Have you tried it yourself using a USB power meter ?
When it switches, the notification also change from "fast charging" to "cable charging" or something like this.
If it is still displaying "fast charge" I really doubt that Samsung would charge it normally. More than that, it would be something everybody will brag about and be a well known issue and it is the first time I hear about it. For wireless charging yes, I heard this...but never for cable charging.

There are results when you google it, for the S7 and S8, I guess it's not that big of a deal because it displays "fast charging" and because people expect the phone to charge slower when active. Fast charging while being used was also the big selling point for "Dash charge" the fast charging tech from OnePlus.
It also says so in the manual on Page 12 :"You cannot use the fast charging feature when the screen is turned on. Turn off the screen to increase the charging speed" http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...G935_UM_EU_Marshmallow_Eng_Rev.1.0_160219.pdf
But to see it with your own eyes, just get yourself a cheap USB power meter and measure it

so did you get the Q.C 4.0 charger? did it charge faster? you might need a USB PD charger that can do at-least 21 watts.
LG is just imitating Samsung here, they did the exact same thing with my S8. I only ever fast charged that phone on my laptop.
I wonder if they're secretly trying to extend battery life, isn't fast charge rough on a battery?

45W?
There seems to be disagreement between Qualcomm and LG. On LG's website it says G8 is QC3.0 in "Power & Performance" section of their Specs page, while QualComm lists G8 as capable of QC4.0 (but not 4.0+).

Which charger did you get and how well does it work?
Old post, worth insisting.
Bought G8, Korean, bit it's the same, only some different bands.
Like previously said I've read QC 3 on LG US website, but QC 4+ on Qualcomm.
I've bought two Hama wall chargers, 3 and 4+.
I also use the 65W PD charger of my laptop.
All three have same exact charging time.
So, how can this be?
Shouldn't 4+ be faster than 3?
If yes, than the G8 it's indeed only QC 3...
Has anyone tried a QC 4 charger yet? How does USB PD speeds compare to QC 3/4? I'm coming from OnePlus and debating about what charger(s) to buy. What's been the fastest chargers?
My phone used to show "super fast charging" on the always on display when connected to the 45w charger. Now it just shows "fast charging". Time estimate is now equal between the 25w and 45w chargers too.
Tested with two cables - the one included with the 45w charger and also a USB 3.1 E-Marker cable that worked with super fast charging before.

Ampere is useless on my note 10+. I needed to use an inline usb c power meter.
The issue is that the power meter always showed just under 25w of power from both chargers, even when the phone showed "super fast charging" on the 45w one. It explains why there wasn't a huge difference in the first place.

I found a solution here and I tested it myself.
when i connect it with simple fast charger the circle is white but it is blue when connecting it with the original fast charger that came with the phone.
So this means, that "super fast charging" notice is removed by Samsung with the latest updates

This is not true on mine. The blue circle simply means it is connected to an OEM charger. Mine still charges in QC 2.0 mode at a maximum of 17W. It should be charging in PD 3.0 mode. You need a USB tester that can identify charging mode. Can you verify the charging voltage and wattage?

I dont have smth like that. Anyway both chargers I use are OEM. One for note10+ and the other for Note8.
Havent checked precisely the charging time but i took for granted the solution read on other forums
Also the same after last update
So this explains why my At&t Note 10 + does not super fast charge with the original samsung 45w dual car charger. The charger has 2 ports one is 15w that will fast charge the other is a usb-c port that is 45w.
When I use this port the phone connects it will say charging super fast 2.0 it will only charge 2 mins then it will stop.
Hopefully in the next update they put the super fast charging setting in the phone like the note 20 ultra has
Mu US Unlocked SM-975U1 with all updates, including Nov security updates and OneUI 2.5 still says Super Fast Charging when charged via the Samsung charger that came with it.
