Accidentally flashed the wrong update - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

So, a little while ago I flashed G955USQU5CRG1 via samsung.firmware.science instead of the CRG3 update. However, now I cannot update further. Anyone know of the best way to proceed?

[Q] un-rooted and having trouble with OTA update

So just the other day I was finally able to root my slide via one of the methods posted here. I quickly installed cyanogenmod 6.1 stable only to find out that it is horrible on my battery life. So I decided to un-root the phone and go back to the stock ROM. So I followed yet another method and I was able to return to the original rom, but I am having troubles applying the OTA radio update. I have attempted both methods posted in the "bible" thread and I receive errors after I choose to apply sdcard:update.zip.
It says "E: signature verification failed installation aborted"
anybody have any idea why this may be happening?
Are you trying to apply the "OTA" update found on this board, or did your phone actually receive the update over the air? If you're back to stock, you will not be able to apply updates found on this site like you could when rooted.
I am trying to apply the ones found on this message board, I never received the official OTA update from t-mobile. I remember when i got the phone (bought it 2nd hand) I was able to apply the OTA update. So your saying I need to be rooted in order to apply it?
Well, not entirely sure about specifically the OTA update, but I was under the impression that any .zip you tried to update while not being rooted would not work. However, if you unrooted, you will eventually receive the update if your phone needed it.
So t-mobile is still pushing the update? I was under the impression that is was only durring a select time frame they would be doing that. I might have to hold off on tweaking my phone around some more and see if it does happen.
As far as I know, anytime your phone registers on the network, it will also peek for updates. I do not think there was a time limit, but I could be wrong.
Alright, I will give it a couple days before I do anything and see what happens. Thanks for the input. If anybody else knows anything, please do share .

[Q] Rooting process changed after new T-Mobile update on 9/10?

Hey,
I am wondering if the same rooting processes work after i install T-Mobile's newest update via KIES that came out on Sept 10,.I think its called T999UVALI5
The reason is because when I re-rooted my phone after T-Mobile's first update (the update that removed universal search), the phone was laggy when in recovery mode and when deleting programs in titanium backup.
If anyone has re-rooted with the new update, can you tell me what root method you used and if it is laggy in the same respect as mine was?
Thanks a lot for your help
does anyone know anything about this?

Update not updating phone!

I'm with rogers, phone version is 4.4.3 trying to update to 5.0. Phone is root and s-off
So, I'm having a new problem with updating the phone, I've had it before, and a member of this website helped me out with a TWRP recovery which did the trick. I've also looked over some posts with people have the same problem, a member said to turn USB debugging off. I did that, and tried the update again but not change. I get not change with the new update from 4.4.3 to 5.0, like I said, I've had this problem before with 4.x.x or what ever my version was back then. I'll go through the update with success but the update does not apply.
Any thoughts on this? I'm updating by renaming the zip file and running the update through bootloader. I've also tried doing it though ADB.
Thank you,
SpaceGold
Edit:
Seems like I got the update working just by installing AR HD.

May security update

Forgive me if I did not see the answer to my question already in Q&A...
Just purchased a used 5x and took the latest security update (May 2017). I read somewhere that there were some problems gaining root/flashing TWRP on the latest security update. Could anyone tell me if root and flashing custom recovery is achievable with the latest update? Just didn't wanna start the process if someone else has already tried and was unsuccessful. Can't really be the guinea pig here, phone is my daily. Anyways, if anyone knows it's safe me a little time. Tia

Pixel phones had difficulty but a fix was found. I had no issues with my Nexus 5X.

Can't get firmware updates [SOLVED]

Some time ago I loaded a firmware onto my VZW S8+ (G955U) which I thought was a legitimate firmware. However, I've never been able to update the phone since. The firmware that I loaded was CRE1 and since loading that, no OTA updates have occurred and even trying to use the VZW update tool, I get an error saying no update for that firmware or something to that effect.
I assume that I would need to flash back to a base version 8 firmware and then see how things go from there but I haven't been able to locate a base v8 firmware - assuming that is the direction I need to go.
Can anyone advise? The phone is not rooted. I did see one other similar thread with CRE1 firmware from 2018 - I can try downloading the closest firmware to CRE9 that I can find, which is CRK9, and see if I can get it to load.
Other suggestions/ideas are welcome!
[UPDATE]
So I essentially followed another post here and using Odin 3.13.1 I loaded CRK1, the oldest I could find that was near CRE1, and the phone came back up and pretty much immediately notified of an OTA update. About 12 or so OTA updates later and I'm at the current OTA release.
I'm having the same issue. I bought a VZW S8+ (G955U) from eBay Seller mistyelectronics that was supposed to be new in box. It has never updated since I received it almost a year ago. It stuck on Software Version G955USQS5DSE5. Any insight or advice to go the same route? I used Odin years ago. Where would I look for the files to load to the phone?
I appreciate any help you can give.
