I bought a Tab3 10.1 back around Jan 2014 that I almost never used as though it ran good for first few weeks after an update it went so slow, didn't help its full of bloat I have no care for and many apps just crash on it.
I am confused over the different models so like some starter info, I have flashed android devices before so have some experience as well as a Samsung phone back in 2013.
EDIT : All I want is a clean and rooted firmware which can run more up to date things rather than being told its not compatable.

Picked up my US (T-mo)Defy last month, it was running Eclair.
I've been reading as much as I could before I attempted to do anything that voids my warrenty. I couldn't wait for the US Froyo release...
So I rooted with SuperOneClick because z4root did not seem to work. Then I got clockwork installed. My first attempt was to install Jboogie3's "beta4Offical" thinking it would keep Eclair and just clean up this blur nonsense. But when I used clockwork recovery, it just hung. No worries, I've still got a working phone.
Next I attempted "JBoogie3 Deblur Honey" and that put me in a boot loop <that was a Oh ****! moment>. Since I could still get into stock recovery and bootloader, I was not too worried. I happen to have the T-mo OTA update.zip on my Defy, so I attempted to flash/install that...but I got the "status 7" error (I think b/c it was still rooted). Since I wanted my phone back that night, I went ahead and installed 3.4.2_145(Finland) .sbf (I think...it was late) with RSD Lite. Anyhow, it got me back up! I had saved my APN earlier, so things were working, but still stock.
Not leaving well enough alone, I figured "why the hell not" and rooted->clockwork and then recovered to "JBoogie3 Deblur Honey". That worked this time.
Happy as a clam now. I was worried about the "H" for my network, but I did speedtests and browsed around and I'm getting 800-100kbps and I can live with the "H"...like a sleeper!
I'm gonna continue to read and try new "roms" (I'm still wet behind the ears on the terms).
I also did it wrong when I tried to restore the orange recovery, and ended up flashing the orange sbf. But its working well and I'm happy as well.
i also own the phone from less than a month and i also messed up everything , install 3.4.2 before reading about non downgreadable....... rooted 3.4.2 finland installed clockwork , took a nandroid backup of 2,34 trying to restore to official 2.1 eclair version it restored and i was happy but no luck it got me on the bootloop....... now i am flashing to 3.42 but not finland ... its uk version hope it works and the phone dont dies.......
by the way my moto swimmed already but its fine ... its very cool to watch your phone at the bottom of water sparkling v ery tough on the outside hope i wont kill it from the inside
edit: installed the uk blur rom but it doesnt give the starting options (LANGUAGE) to change them... now its in german , and reset factory settings doesnt work pushing the button button but it dingoes nothing.... crap , reseting with system recovery also doest help resets but its in german again
Thanks for the report, im relatively new to the defy as well ( just over a week now ) and at some time i will probably start looking into the various roms+upgrades.
the only thing holding me back is the official 2.2 update is due soon ( apparently )
and im not sure if i would be able to return back to my current settings/ version 2.1 should i need to.
New to android, new to Moto-Defy
Fellow Defy users,
Greetings of peace!
I am noob here in the xda developers
First off, really don't want to spam threads.. So I chose to post my message here in this thread for a semi-short explanation of what I want to share.
I am new to the android phones (previously a symbian user), and I just got my new Motorola Defy - Black which I bought here in the Philippines.
I bought 2 models actually one for myself and one for my brother as he requested one as well.
To cut the chase..I just want to share some inputs.
To my shock, the phone has some mods already as I opened it.
**take note that the battery is sealed and all other stuffs are sealed when I got the phone*
It has adobe flash player 10 (not flash lite)
Super User
R. Explorer
ITFUNZ (which is all in chinese)
UC Browser
I believe this are the things needed to "root" your phone.
I heard it's better when your phone is rooted.
android version 2.2.1 Froyo
And the as of my brother's phone, no additional apps as mentioned above.
Android version 2.1 eclair
** Noticed that my camera is better than his and has slightly a different camera interface**
I heard that it's cooler to have a rooted android phone and I hope you can enlighten me with my curiosities.
1. My phone has a 3 day replacement warranty and 1 year Motorola service warranty, should I return the device since it's rooted? Or Should I keep it to save me of the hassle since I would like to root anyway in the future.
2. Prior to question 1, do I lose/void the Motorola warranty since it's already rooted the day I purchased it?
3. I know it’s possible to unroot my device, my concern is that the ITFUNZ and R.Explorer applications are in Chinese. How am I able to understand and access.. “just” in case I need access to these files
The seller told me that the models they’re selling are open to all network or factory unlocked which are processed already by their suppliers.
That’s true since my bro’s phone is opened to all network. Maybe mine was just special because it was already rooted.
Here are the details of my MOTO-DEFY (Setting>Applications>about)
**I hope some one can give me information on each item so I can get a head start working with my phone**

Well that’s it for now. I’m just reading and reading more threads to feed my knowledge. (sometime reading to much information confuses already your understanding)
Thanks for reading my post and it will be highly appreciated for you masters out there to give a helping hand on how to maximize and enjoy our Moto-Defy.

I consider myself pretty tech savvy and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to unroot my 10.1 2014 edition tablet. I cant even attempt to run the process to unroot because the download for the 4.3 frimware from multiple sites all linking to the same mirror wants to take 20 hours to download and I see no progress past .1 GB.
Things to note:
I do not need to save anything on my tablet, so if I lose data that is not an issue.
It runs on OS 4.3
it is the wifi only version SM-P600
It is from the united states (Its hard for me to find USA firmware, is it labeled something differently?)
I am only unrooting because I want to update to the newest frimware. I am assuming it will make my tablet smoother and conserve battery life.
I am using a windows computer.
Thank You, This has been stressing me out for weeks now and I hate asking for help but here I am.

Just bought an brand new Note 4 from B&H Photo after a long deliberation between the Note 4 and 5. Anyway it is the AT&T model, unlocked and running Kitkat 4.4.4.
Now the update has downloaded, and it starting to nag, I did run the script that is supposed to prevent this but no dice, anyway still needs my permission (I think) to run the update. I have started reading the 53 page long thread about what happened to your phone once you upgraded to Lollipop, sorry but I do not have that much time to read through 53 pages. I did read a few and its a mixed bag so far.
So, should I upgrade or not to 5.0.1 ? Just a simple yea or nay.
Just wait for 5.1.1, I personally had a lot of battery issues with 5.0.1, the script you ran blocks updates from downloading but there's something else you need to block that's not on the list but is later mentioned on that thread so read through it since other people experienced the same thing your are now, as for the downloaded update I believe that you can clear it from the recovery menu, if not you may have to reset your phone
Package disabled Pro from the Google play store. I promise it's worth the few dollars it cost.
When my mom & bf recently went on to a plane trip, her bf saw someone watching movies on a tablet. Now since my mom moved to a smartphone her SM-T210 has been sitting (or rather lying) there unused. The bf uses an old "classic" phone. So she asked if i could put some movies onto the tablet. I took a look at the thing and saw it was "stuck" on it's last official android being 4.4.2, so said if i can i'll upgrade android in the process.
Now here's the thing, i'm more farmiliar with nexus devices, so i have no clue as to what to use for a custom rom on this device. I saw there's a couple but they all say things such as "deodexed", "odexed", "zipaligned"... none of this i have any knowledge about. I'm not going to ask about which custom rom is the best, just links to a few.
Requirements:
-(Pre-rooted) or if not, rooteable with SuperSU
- As close to stock android as possible but at least Lollipop, preferably marshmallow
Can anyone help me out. I've already rooted the device and flashed twrp 2800 on it. I just need a rom replacement now, if there's a newer twrp i'd love to get a link to that md5 file too.
I am by no means a tech savvy person so please bear with me. Last year I purchased a Galaxy Note 10+ from Swappa. I thought I had properly inspected the device and it seemed flawless. Over the past year I was aware that Android 10 had been released and was waiting patiently to receive the update. For the record this phone was advertised as unlocked and associated with no carrier. I run the device via AT&T. I have since figured out that the IMEI number does not match the device and only after finding an additional IMEI on the outside of the device did I discover this phone was originally a Sprint product and had been altered in some way. The phone will not update.
The device was last successfully updated October 3, 2019. It is currently running Android version 9 and One UI version 1.5
When I manually check for updates the system says I am up to date…. Obviously this is not the case. I suspect that the alterations to this phone that I was unaware of until recently are playing an active role in the stagnation of my updates.
I’m not sure what to do at this point. I’ve seen a few things about using Frija and Odin to force a system update in some way, but all of this is absolutely a foreign language to me. This was my first Swappa purchase and I’m really disappointed at this point. If anyone could offer some constructive advice (in layman's terms) it would be greatly appreciated.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10+
Model #: SM-N97U1
Download the latest firmware from Frija and flash with Odin. Once firmware is loaded, extract it leaving you with files BL..AP..CP..CSC..HOME_CSC.
Open Odin put BL in BL spot, AP in AP spot and so on. When using csc it will wipe device..I suggest saving any important things to SD card or computer. But since you said device is messed up I would do a factory reset anyway.

I personally regret that I updated my note10+ from pie to Q, on pie, the battery lasted longer, and the starage management in Q is somewhat problematic for some apps, I definitively liked Pie more.. But that is just my opinion
