Weird behavior of the phone - Xiaomi Mi 5s Questions & Answers

Hi, my phone is running stock global version number 9.6.1.0 and today something odd happened. I turned the phone after 25 hours it was off and many of my settings was changed- the order of the settings in the notification bar was changed, it showed the clock at am-pm style but it was on 24h mode before, vibration on button was set on but didn't worked and the symbols of the notifications at the status bar are gone, only "..." is shown (i had 3 notifications so it should have shown them). So did it happened to anyone else? Is someone messed with my phone remotely? Is it a bug? Is xiaomi messing with the setting like google? I would like to know what you think.

[Q] Lockscreen icons not working, PLEASE help

I have a weird problem, a few days ago I could not turn off the morning alarm because the icons in the lower bar (turn off and snooze) just couldn't be pulled up. I thought I was just too sleepy but I later realized that I can't use the lockscreen shortcuts either. The phone registers the touch but the icons just don't move upward. Also can't decline a call because of this.
Everything was fine the day before this happened, there were no system updates, no settings changed. The phone is running on stock rom, Android 4.2.2, Sense 5.0. No matter what settings I change I can't get it to work again, tried searching google and xda and found nothing similar. If I try to use the lockscreen shortcuts multiple times and then go to the app drawer and just scroll up and down sometimes a random app opens, most often messaging or mail, like it registers the lockscreen command only then. This is so annoying, does anyone know what I can try to eliminate this problem? I wouldn't like to try flashing a custom rom because I don't have any experience and am otherwise satisfied with stock system. Please excuse me if my questions are in any way stupid, I'm just a noob
I still can't find a fix for this, is there really nobody else with this problem?
Now I decided to hard reset the phone to fix this...yeah right, the shortcuts still don't work!

several bugs with OOS 4.0

Hi, i updated my phone to OOS 4.0 with clean install 1 month ago.
since then i have several annoying bugs :
- Bluetooth issue : my phone doesn't detect my headphone Plantronics Backbeat pro. it worked perfectly before update
- widget issue : i use a widget for calendar (business calendar) for 3 years. Now this widget disappear randomly... every time i re-add it, it disappears like 2h or 2 days after.
- I don't find a way to put my phone in vibrate mode. before i just reduced volume until it's on vibrate, but now it doesn't reduce until vibrate (minimum is like 10% volume).
The only way i found is to use "do not disturb" mode, but i don't get notification anymore...
- i also have wifi issue (slow wifi, slow play store download), but i think it started before update (even though it comes from the phone and not from my internet).
Does anyone have those problems ? it's really annoying
Thanks in advance
First tip I can give to you is to update immediately to OOS 4.0.2 because this update fixes some bugs that are present on 4.0 (but I never had problems with 4.0).
1. I think this has fixed with 4.0.2
2. I think it's a problem of that app, have you contacted the developer? Do you use Nova Launcher or stock launcher?
3. For now you can't set to silent mode the phone with the volume buttons, OnePlus has changed how the buttons work and for now that problem remains (I don't like it too, but I use the slider, it's here for something right? ). You can set the phone in vibrate mode moving the slider on the upper mode and in the settings activate the vibration
4. That problem was fixed in 4.0.2 update
So update your phone as soon as you can, the update is great
thanks for your answer ! I'll update as soon as possible then and let you know.
I use stock launcher, i'll try to add other widget to see if it comes from that app or all apps.
And about the vibrate mode, that's what i did, i use the slider at top now, but i dont get notification like that... no notification from messenger, no vibration for messenger, no led signal etc etc
I'm on 4.0.2 and have the following bugs:-
-Fingerprint reader is sometimes totally unresponsive, (not even turned on,) after a full night of Doze mode. (Not set to aggressive Doze BTW.) Pressing the power button re-enables it.
-Gmail notification doesn't disappear when you go into the email you've been notified about. It only goes when you go back to the primary inbox or delete the email.
As far as I'm concerned these are minor issues. On the whole, I'm happy with One Plus and don't have any major bugs. :victory:

Good Try other widget, yes :good:
If you don't receive notification, you have to set the app to don't optimize it in the battery settings, here you have to set to don't optimize all the apps you want notification for (whatsapp, messenger, email...).
Let me know when you've updated the phone

Top mode is "silent" and you should be getting notifications in that mode. The middle one is "do not disturb", which blocks most notifications (depending on your settings).

OK i updated, first thing i can say is that the Bluetooth still doesn't work.. it doesn't even detect my headphone.
For the rest i'll see in long term utilization
I downgraded my device to OS 3.2.8 since Nougat (both official OS4 and OS4.02 and LineageOS) has broken bluetooth.
I can connect to my car audio but it barely works. And when I try to use the phone over BT it breaks and I need to reboot OP3. Also I have problems with my bluetooth speaker (JBL Charge2+). It connects to it much slower and sometimes it stops working.
I already complained to OP3, they put me to a remote session, downgraded my phone, I tested it in Marshmallow and saw that it works, then upgraded again to OS4.02 (wasnt working) and then tried LineageOS hoping that custom roms might have it working but it behaved exactly the same.
They told me to wait for next update, but I dont think they will do anything.
Try to submit a report ticket to them. More people bugs them, more chance they will try anything.
Anyway I am already looking for another device. This is second OnePLus device I used and both had software issues. Luckily CyanogenMod was working fine on OP1 back then. Now even the custom roms cant help me.

Notification icons staying in status bar after clearing/viewing notification info.

EDIT 1: Resolved the issue by reverting the ADB command I used to hide the navbar. So if you have this issue as well and happen to have performed a hidden the navbar with an ADB command or using an app designed to hide the navbar, that is likely your culprit, as well.
EDIT 2: The only method confirmed to hide the navbar without causing notification icons to stick in the status bar, is to root your phone and edit the build.prop by adding the following line at the bottom of the file: qemu.hw.mainkeys=1

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my stock, unrooted Pixel 3 XL. When a notification comes in, I get the lockscreen notification like normal. Then I unlock the phone and swipe down on the notification drop down. I'll click the notification (Gmail message, for instance). I'll read the message in the Gmail app, which marks it as "read" within the app.
But when I go back to the homescreen, the Gmail notification is still in the status bar. It doesn't go away until I swipe down on the empty notification drawer for a second time.
This issue holds true for Hangouts, Whatsapp, Gmail, Outlook, Slack etc. etc. Pretty much any app that gives me a notification is experiencing this issue. I don't think it was doing it right out of the box. Just seemed to start happening within the last couple of days.
Anyone else seeing something like this?

It does appear to be abnormal behavior

I'm getting the same thing here.
same thing, but i'm rooted
same thing on my oneplus 6 after pie update
think it has something to do with the battery saving features.
Well, I'm glad to learn I'm not alone!
Hopefully the next update fixes it.

turning off all battery saving features should work (i.e advance optimizations if its visible in p3, etc etc)
I have the same issue on the 2 xl for various apps, such as incognito mode in chrome.

'Battery Saver' was already turned off on my phone. But 'Adaptive Battery' was on. I'm going to try turning that off for the day and see if that fixes it.
EDIT: Turning off Adaptice Battery and rebooting the phone didn't solve it. Status bar notification icons are still lingering. Pretty annoying.
On mine they go away after a short time on their own, it's the same behavior I had on 8.1 as of a couple monthly updates ago. I'm not sure that this is a Pie bug or I suppose, a bug at all. Anyhow, I'm not bothered by it, everything is the same as before except I can see the notification hasn't left the screen in the few seconds between when I dealt with whatever was there and set the phone down. Pick it up shortly afterwards and they're gone. Once I got over the mental "huh" of it and realized it doesn't affect anything it kinda settled into the non issue category for me.
Same damn thing. Even on my 2XL which wasn't rooted. Has happened since upgrading to Pie. Even before I started installing apps. There must be some setting we're all toggling that others aren't. Surprised this isn't all over the forums since it affects multiple phones.
I had this on my Pixel 2 XL for a day or so after a fresh wipe and setup, then it went away after some tweaking of various things. No idea exactly what fixed it. I was mainly messing around with battery optimization (on a per-app basis) and Tasker automations around the time it stopped happening.

in battery settings - change "optimize" to "dont optimize" for the apps
that solve it on my op6

I never had this problem on OP6 and I had optimization on
I can confidently say optimization is on now and it's not happening after a full reflash

I don't see this setting on my 3 XL. I know it was there on my OnePlus 6 though.
This happens every so often with my Pixel 2 on Pie
Confirming that even after the November OTA, the issue with notifications sticking still persists.
I find it quite ridiculous that given how many people seem to have this issue with Android Pie, regardless of whether it's a Pixel device or not, Google has yet to acknowledge or fix it.
I know some say it's related to battery saver settings but I've tried everything, including disabling all battery saver options completely and rebooting. The problem continues, no matter what. It's getting very annoying.
What's strange is that I never experienced this issue on my OnePlus 6, even after running Android Pie beta and full release for multiple months.

Ugh... I was just thinking about doing a full flash-all myself to start fresh with the November full factory image. After reading your comment, I think I'm just gonna go ahead and do it.
I'm just sitting around watching the election stuff anyway. So I might as well set things back up from scratch again.

Notification bar pull down stutter after unlocking phone

I searched forum for similiar issues but could not found anything(though there are some reddit topics).
When I wake the phone with power button or fingerprint sensor, and try to pull down notification bar, there is a stutter/lag lasts 1-2 seconds. Lets say you pull up for app drawer there is nothing but pull down and there it is.
Also wallpaper seems to affect it a little bit but it might be a placebo effect as it still stutters(light the way wallpaper seems to solve it a little bit.).
It started after Android 10 update and I even tried to clean flashing whole rom but result is same and I do not have any UI altering apps.
It seems like a slow wake up issue and may be playing with sleep frequencies might solve it but I did not root so it is not a option for me.
Is anyone else facing this ? Vanilla or custom roms/kernels ?
Yep, I have the same issue. It's pretty annoying, but I did get it to stop, for me at least it seems the new gesture navigation is causing this because I can't get it to stutter while using the 2 or 3 button navigation methods. I've had this happening since I updated to Android 10 (stable release, not beta) but after a while it just fixed itself, unfortunately my phone ran out of battery yesterday and today after I booted it up it came back to haunt me :/
Alright I got it to stop, disabling both "New notification" and "Double-tap to check phone" did it for me. Hopefully this helps.

I have exactly the same issue on my Pixel 2XL, manage to fix it by disabling Google Feed on the left of the main home screen. Try it let me know if it works.
Update 1: disabling google feed doesn't work. I try to switch back to 3 button navigation and the issue gone.
I do not know how but now it is smooth everytime I try to wake phone and double tap+alwayson display is enabled. Also I tried all wallpapers and it works without any stutter.
Probably monthly updates fixed it, idk.

Redmi note 8 notification sound problem

Hello,
I'm from Morocco and currently using a XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 8, (64Go/4Go), running the latest version of MIUI 11.0.11.0 Global stable with Android 9.
So i'm having this really annoying problem whith the notification when the phone is closed. So basiclly the sound of the notification should come at the time of recieving the notification but in my case there is a delay of 2 to 3 min or even more than that sometimes. And even sometimes the sound is not heard at all even with the notification is recieved. Only the light bulbe for the notification is blinking.
This problem happened especially with the Whatsapp application. Everything in the notifications seetings is on, all permission are granted, locked the app in the recent app, turned on autostart, disabled battery saver even though i don't use it at all, put no restriction on the app, turned on background data. I've tried to use different network connection still the same problem. I don't seem to find a reason why would this happend and find a solution for that. I did perform a factory reset but doesn't seem to be fixed. Everything in the begining was working fine no issue at all. I don't seem to remember when it start to happend, I've asked my freinds owning the same device if they are facing the same issue all of them denied. So the question is if all the devices have the same software that they are operating on they should have the same bug or problem if i wan't to say. But not in this case. I have not installed any 3rd party app that has to do with the battery at all.
I do use my mom's phone to test this out. The phone is on everything works perfectly. I locked the phone and the problem start. It's like ther is something that shut the notifications immediately when i close the phone (dnd is not activated also battery saver as i mentioned earlier). So if there is any kind of solution to this problem please help me with or if there is a dev please let them know to fix this issue. I did reported it in the feedback section on the phone 10 times in the time of writing this thread. I'm currently waiting for the new update hoping that it will fix the problem otherwise this is really disappointing. The best selling phone in the market facing issue like this, that's not very acceptable at all. This made me miss a lot of important notifications. Hope that it will be fixed as soon as possible.
If you want to help me and you need any more info please leave me a comment and i will send them to you (screenshots of the settings etc....).
Thanks for your time.
Stay safe.
Have a nice day.

1. Turn off miui optimization under developer options
2. Give all permissions, no battery optimization to google play services and framework. Before doing this, clear data of those apps(removes google account!).
3. Check if it's added to game turbo or not
These are some more possible solutions. After checking all those, reboot once and check if the problem is solved or not.

Hello,
Thanks for you response. I've already done what you did sggest to me but still the samething always late notification sound.
It's not added to game turbo i don't even use it and it's disabled. Google play services and framework don't have any kind of restrictions whatsoever. I don't want turn off miui optimization cuz it mess up with a lot of visuals.
I think it's a software issue. Because sometimes when i want to change the ringtone and i tap on a different one it took a lit bit of time to play it same thing when changing the notification. This problem is happening when the phone is locked only.
I'm cuurently waiting for the new update with a hope that it will fix it.
Thanks again.
have a nice day.
