i was wondering if i could get sum people to tell me about ehir experiences with their locking/unlocking programs...such as, which ones youve used with success...im interested in knowing which ones use the least about of battery power, least amount of memory/ram...so on and so forth...any input wiould be greatly appreciated
specifically programs being used with the touch pro 2
I'm personally not a big fan of screen lock programs. I just think that for something as simple as locking the screen, the end-user shouldn't have to give up anything in terms of resources/battery life.
That's why I suggest sticking with the default WinMo lock.
I suggest either SmartLock or LockDevice to auto lock your device. Neither uses up any resources.
I've perused the threads concerning both the locking apps you cite above, but both appear to have some issues (i.e. not everything working properly after the install). I'm specifically looking for a way to have the screen locked when the device is turned on, mostly because I carry the thing in my pocket (yes, with a screen protector) and want to be sure that if I should inadvertently bump the power button I don't end up calling friends overseas from the inside of my pocket. It doesn't appear to me as if the default locking app can do this (and not simply turn on the lock after a timeout) -- or am I missing something?

In both apps, you can customize how you want the lock mechanism to kick in. You can set it to lock when you screen goes off. My personal preference is to set it to lock on suspend.
I'm not really sure what you mean. If your device is locked (with the WinMo default lock), you won't be able to do anything (including making calls) without unlocking it first either via tap & slide (WinMo 6.5) or left soft key & unlock button (WinMo 6.1).
I would really like to use the app, but there is a dialer conflict when getting incoming calls for boths apps. For example during an incoming call, I initially get HTC dialer. During the middle of the call, I get the original WM dialer. Do you have any suggestions to avoid this problem?

What I meant was that my understanding of the default WinMo lock is that it only locks after a specific period of in activity (which I don't want to happen) rather than after a suspend (which is what I do want).
NOTIFICATION BAR scrolling down without touching it: Static Electr & Capacitive Scrns
I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this at least once. I didn't post here as a thread til I got confirmation from one other DESIRE user that this has happened to him as well.
I don't know the exact triggers or even the exact scenarios, but this has happened several times to me already:
I am using the phone in horizontal mode and tapping menu items or inputting text, and my finger is nowhere even close to the Notification Bar at top of screen -- and yet suddenly the Notification Bar will auto-scroll down, interrupting what I was doing. Repeated times. It would happen again, with no accidental slippage of my finger or anything. My finger would be nowhere near the bar.
I am wondering if there is any kind of static electricity effect with capacitive screens that can set off a menu action.
So I am asking the experts here. Is that possible? Is it anything that was reported with the Nexus One?
RELATED (1): After this happened a few time in ONE SESSION using the phone -- it happened to be while uploading videos to YouTube, I wanted to test to see if I moved my finger close to the Notification Bar would this perhaps trigger this auto-scroll-down. So I moved my finger just slightly above the surface of the glass at the Notification Bar, and it didn't make it scroll down, but on this occasion, it set off a kind of jumpiness whereby the notification bar was rapidly shifting up and down a few pixels, as though it was receiving input. Has anyone seen this happen? I have not yet been able to get this to repeat from that session of using the phone a few days ago. I was lying down on my bed, and I'm pretty sure sheets produce a lot of static electricity, so this is my layman's question. Is there some causal effect here?
RELATED (2): A variation on this problem would be where I am actually trying to select a menu choice, and instead of my finger-press activating the menu item, instead the menu item jumps up slightly, and does not get selected.
This, again, happened when I was in ALBUM MODE, watched a video in horizontal display, then tapped-and-held the video to bring up the context menu that includes various SHARE options. One of those options is YouTube (the last item of the menu). I would try to select "YouTube" but the menu jumped upwards slightly, and wouldn't get selected.
I have been able to reproduce this one (Related 2) today, days later, in totally different environment .
So, a bunch of questions:
1. Is there such a thing as a static electricity effect that confuses the screen?
2. Are there other kinds of known screen-response problems that could be at play here?
3. Is this something that sounds like "it's defective so return it", or is this a somewhat common experience, sporadically?
the only time I've had that happen to me is when I use a cheap charger I've got and yeah the screen just skitses out. I am using a hero tho but this is the first time I've seen anyone else encounter this so I thought il'd churp in.
I had something similar only once.
The notification bar went mad. It was flicking up and down constantly without me touching the phone at all.
I had to pull the battery to fix the problem.
Hasn't happened since.

The capacitive touch screens work by detecting a disturbance in the EM field on the glass surface. There's a few ways to do it, I think the way mobile phones are doing this is to put a field of their own over the glass and detect fingers on the surface based on what levels of the field they'd expect to see at different points around the screen, and doing some comparisons on what levels are actually detected.
Please someone correct me if I'm wrong BTW.
I've noticed this notification bar problem today and yesterday. Lucky I at least saw how I caused it. My finger was to close to the top right of the screen because of the way I was holding the handset. That combined with the lacklustre multi-touch support on this handset made the phone detect it as a finger swipe that rapidly moved downwards.
I've always had similar problems with capacitative and inductive touch technologies. I don't actually need to touch the desires screen to activate a touch. The worsted was the Zen Micro with the touch controls. I could activate that thing from about 10-15mm away. The touch on-off-dimming lamps too. I usually cycle those through all their light levels with a single touch. Where as my brother actually struggles to activate those, really has to press his hand down hard on them.
Brilliant, Alex... You got right inside my head and answered exactly what i was trying to ask.... the physics of the system.
I'm okay with little glitches here and there, and I am sure I will learn to avoid proximity issues that tend to trigger these mis-fires... just as I learned to adjust my tap-key behavior in typing on the on-screen keyboard on capacitive screen vs all the resistive screens I had used before on Windows Mobile, where fingernails could & would engage the resistive screen -- vs learning that the bottom surface of the finger has to make contact on the keys on capacitive screen... (sorry i am USA and we still resist the world's metric standard, so i don't know the equivalent distance in cm,)... but it's over a 1/4-inch of an upward shift in the position of one's fingers above the capacitive screen from the tip of the fingernail.
But once you train your senses to activate the keys sensors properly, the finger impact behaviors of resistive screens goes away after a while (at least for me)
(oh, btw, I ordered the new HTC capacitive stylus which is a couple of months old now, but is an official DESIRE accessory, so that will be an interesting experience... the thing i miss most about the resistive screen and stylus was being able to scribble notes really fast, way faster than i could ever type -- and draw pretty detailed images or maps and directuions for people. so it will be interesting to see the granularity of control the capacitive stylus will give)
So thanks very much for giving me the exact level of detail I can process as a lay person.. and for assuring me, as the rest of you have as well, that this apparently comes with the territory of this phone -- and therefore should not be seen as a defect. Because i sure as hell didn't want to go shipping this phone back. I can live with an occasional spazzoid misread of intended impact spot on screen...

I was thinking it is softwarerelated. The bar remains halfway the screen, is in the layer below the active app, and jumps to front upon touching the screen.
I have the Problem, too. And that since Monday. I went mad since yesterday evening so i tried to go back to stock, unroot and all.
But the problem is still there.
How can i fix it? Or is my Phone damaged?!
The Notification Bar scrolls down without touching the display and then freezes the phone. so i must lock the phone and relock it and then i can use the phone but after a short time the same problem came back!!

Listen, I'm trying to recondition an old Motorola Milestone (Droid) with a crazy touchscreen problem, whose cause I believe I've narrowed down to static electricity - can you do me a favor and try stroking the glass side of the phone lengthwise in one direction down your sleeve, preferably if you have a wool sweater on? Call me crazy, but this works for me, at least temporarily. I posted more here:

This auto screen power on , on wrist move is killing my battery, especially when i'm driving.

I'm pretty sure there's not... yet. The O/S is pretty immature though. I'll bet that before long there will be apps or mods that will allow such basic O/S customization.

I suppose there is not a way to disable the heart meter , pedometer or see what app run on the background and disable it ?
I found the way to disable these. Look in the 360 development forum.
If you find the package that listens for wrist motion, I can take a look at disabling the component that turns it on.
I got a little more info about this last night when I did a logcat on the watch. I'm going to speak with someone more knowledgeable to see what we can do with that info.
You should watch the mods post in the 360 development forum for more info.
A easy solution is the Theater mode.
You can access this setting by swiping down, and once to the left. Now you have to press the button to wake your smartwatch.
The only disadvantage is that your watch is not vibrating anymore when getting new messages.

I'm not 100% sure, since I've had my 360 for less than a week... But seeing the date of this question about tilt to wake was from the end of last year.. It could ha e been implemented since then. You can disable it in the settings from the Android Wear app on you're Android phone.
Go to settings there is an option to turn it off......
So other phones like the Sony Xperia and LG V-Series phones have a feature where the phone can detect your eyes and/or face while you are reading something on the screen while NOT touching it. This feature is MOST helpful when reading whatever is on the screen and NOT wanting it to shut off either.
For whatever crazy reason, the HTC 10 does NOT have this feature! And when I try to install 3rd party apps in order to make this an option, I always have some issue come up that doesn't let it work. Does ANYONE have a way around this that DOESN'T involve bootloader unlocking and/or rooting????????! It is so frustrating to me that HTC did not think to put this on a 2016 FLAGSHIP natively.

Well b/c I wanna save battery life. I'm not ALWAYS reading the screen, and I don't want it to stay on longer than needed. I just can't believe HTC didn't think of this. I LOVE this phone except for 1) This very issue and 2) The fact that when you enable ANY kind of security measure on the phone involving the lockscreen, Double Tap To Sleep ONLY works if you're ON the lockscreen (a lesser issue to me, but still). Both LG and and Sony have this same option, and NEITHER has any issue with it. You just double tap the screen to turn the screen off, and no problem. The apps I got that DID let the double tap to sleep work also disable the security settings, which isn't cool Just can't believe HTC didn't think of this.
They could fix BOTH issues with updates, but who knows if they will.

This app is a step in the RIGHT direction, but it keeps the screen, on where I need something that scans for my eyes and/or face so I can read the screen comfortably and not feel rushed to touch the screen to keep it on.
I'll write to the developer though since he seems cool.

Set it to 30 minutes or an hour (Which isn't possible on Samsung phones (10 min max so they have to waste unnecessary battery life with useless smart stay which is crap at night), and turn your screen off manually like everyone else.
Custom roms allow holding home button to sleep or various other options.
If you switch to viper ROM, there's a quick setting called "caffeine" it will keep your screen on until manually shut off or set period of time

I could do that, but I'd rather not. lol
I ended up finding an app called Wakey which when you get the full version, it keeps the screen on for any specific apps you choose until you either manually shut the screen off yourself or else leave/close out of those apps. So basically it's been resolved.

The orientation of volume keys and that damn bixby button that i had to create a samsung account to disable it. While powering the device i need to grab the other side with my fingers and squeeze which the volume keys are

Found an option called smart stay. enabled that and found lift to wake option..
no way to disable face recognition to open up the screen to the lock screen. I end up hitting the power button to turn the screen on it gets turned on by seeing a face right after that I hit the button and it Powers off this is in a matter of seconds. can't break a habit of powering on the screen with the power button. And that's if the face recognition works. Sometimes it doesnt turn on. There is a way to disable this but face rec to unlock the phone has to be enabled, defeats the purpose.
Trying turn screen off, end up taking a screenshot.
Battery sucks.
When you grab the phone watching something horizontal, the palm covers the bottom speaker.

i find myself double tapping on the screen, i see the button as an example get tapped & button gets like shaded as if pressed, gotta tap again.
The clipboard, select all moves from the original place and jumps to "more" for more clipboard options.
the cursor upside down gps logo drag is stupid, draws up a magnifying glass, very irritating.
voice to text is just bad.
Some times highlight something, the clipboard does not popup, gotta grab the page n scroll it, clipboard pops up.
Google suggestions & auto correction sucks.
Battery sucks.
No screen protector, holding down on a field to paste, gotta hold field 2 or three times for paste clipboard pops up.

The only issues I am having with Android 10 is AT&T not knowing how to properly roll out an update before getting rid of all the bugs.
Last Pass is finally usable on Android 10. Not sure why your having problems with it.....

Android Poops allover Crapple. So much more you can do with Open Source. Customisation and apps designed to do specific things that the IPhone can only dream of.

I have been Android user since the beginning and have a 2nd device which has been an iPhone for 4 years.
Android is superior to iOS in many many ways. The thing is, for the average Joe, the person who will use Verizon's Message+ app just because it was installed, for this user iOS is a better option. Simply works and also simple... no carrier crap.
I know a lady, had the IPhone 6, but really liked the look of the S7 or S8 , cant remember which, she only had it for a month, but she is like theres too much stuff on this to understand, so she went back to iPhone, then decided the IPhone was boring and migrated back to the S9.
As for performance, my partner's friend has the latest iPhone and when they are on a call together in messenger her friend keeps dropping out, my partner has the Samsung A50 because she dosent like curved edges. There never seems to be issues with other people in messenger.
And i think most governments use iPhones because they can't be modified by the average person. And this is why apple sales get their quota, government organizations and Reporter's. Even Mr Trumpty prefers his Samsung over IPhone.
This thread is just weird. If there are multiple apps that handle the same call on Android then you are presented with a prompt by the OS to select a default app to handle that function and then going forward that app will be the one to answer the call when an action triggers that function so I don't understand how this user is getting multiple clipboard apps getting triggered by the clipboard function.

I end up hitting the power button to turn the screen on it gets turned on by seeing a face right after that I hit the button and it Powers off this is in a matter of seconds. can't break a habit of powering on the screen with the power button.

LOLWUTT? Just take the phone back and get something else because clearly you don't have a single clue what you're doing or you're trolling.
Only complain I have is that my 3-4 sot equates to 60-80% usage of the battery. I've cleared cache, put most apps to sleep, no gos, no wifi (at work no wifi) no media except Spotify to and from work (1hr total) no nothing autosync.
I'm sick of it. Makes me miss my old phones more because I could leave those things on and get 2 days avg out of them before charging, and that includes watching Netflix, Hulu, YouTube or my Plex server

There is an option in settings > biometrics and securtity> face id > "stay in lock screen" after the phone is unlocked by face-unlock.
You just toggle that switch on.
If you toggle this on, next time you press the power button, the phone will get into the lock screen, it will unlock (if it reads your face), but it will stay in lock screen (so as you can read your notifications etc.). You will have to scroll up to get into the home screen.
I suppose that's what you want to do, correct?

So i have to enable facebrec to enable this??
I hate it even more. There is a way to disable this but face rec to unlock the phone has to be enabled, defeats the purpose.

I recently installed a new fx30 battery in my moto x pure edition, I got more life in a day than this. thats with "android 10" optimized bat, adaptive power saving and have apps to be put to sleep, setup.

Can you please explain what you are trying to do?
You want to press the power button and not get into home screen, but stay in Lock screen, correct?
If you don't enable face id, it will not unlock and take you to home screen directly. It will stay in lock screen till you unlock it either by the fp scanner or the pin etc.
If you want to have face id enabled, but not get into home screen directly, you toggle the switch I told you in my previous post.
So what is it that you want to do?
He's trying hard to troll, you just covered every other sensible option.
