I'm having a couple of problems with my phone that appear to possibly be due to being rooted. The first is I seem to be missing the blue light filter option in my settings. The second is I am unable to use carrier billing, it says that my device is not configured for it. I have contacted TMO and they assured me there were no blocks preventing it.
Setup:
Firmware: OCSX 27.1.3 (no OTA updates available)
Rooted 8.0 on both slots
TWRP installed
Magisk installed
Playstore: 11.4.17-all

Last night I tried to flash the Cyanogenmod Installer without success. I tried multiple times and each time I kept on getting this Security Information message on my phone: "An application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. This attempt has been blocked...."
I did delete the antivirus app on my phone and so I know that it isn't that. Could this possibly be Knox? We had been told that the CM team had a workaround for those I747 on Android 4.3, like mine.

If you're rooted, download SuperSU from the Play store (I rooted, but the version of SuperSU that was installed was an old version and needed to be updated by manually downloading from the store). When you run it, it will detect that Knox is running and offer to disable it for you.

I wasn't able to find any way to get around Knox without rooting, but I may not have looked hard enough.
If you're willing to root first, CF Auto Root was super easy to do:

Thanks for the reply. I have never rooted not flashed a rom and so I thought that the CM Installer would be an easy way to get started. However, basically like everyone else, they ran into issues with phones that had been upgraded to JB 4.3. They recently posted that they had found a way around it but I started to wonder if in fact they had when I got the message:
"An application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. This attempt has been blocked...."
I was trying to ascertain whether the message was due to Knox or another program?

That *is* a Knox message, for sure.
So it looks like the Cyanogenmod team were not able to circumvent Knox for their CM installer. It's probably just a matter of time. Here is the full Knox notification:
"An application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. This attempt has been blocked. Updating your security policy may solve this problem. Deleting applications obtained from unauthorized sources may improve security."
There are three options at the bottom of the screen: Cancel, Update, and View Apps.
Update: I was able two days ago to use the Cyanogenmod Installer and I am now running CM!! First time for me to ever root and flash a Rom (I was an iPhone guy).
The phone is faster and smoother. I never liked the Touchwiz lag and most of the Touchwiz features worked inconsistently. The only thing that I miss is the camera. I have not found any bugs yet and so am very happy thus far.
I have literally said yes to updating every time it pops up. I know it's the same, because it's the same size every time (293.3 MB). Not to mention I've said "accept" every time, installed, reboots my device, then couple days later it tells me to do it again. Another thing to note are the same 3 systems apps asking to be updated (Voice Mate Speech Pack, Voice Mate, Voice Mate Engine).
Text from the update:
This update will ensure your device is working at optimal performance with the Sprint Network. The update will require that your phone is rebooted and it will not be available for emergency calls while installing the software.
My LG G3 is the Sprint variant (ls990), rooted via Stump Root and on the stock android. I have used G3 TweaksBox, as well as installed Xposed.
PM me for a link to the screenshots.
Anyone with an answer? Google only refers to Lollipop updates that are still not here anyways

You know OTA`s will only be installed when a device is unrooted and doesn`t have any system modifications. Either disable OTA notifications or flash a stock rom and have root removed or flash a custom recovery and rom.

HELP WITH ROOTING N7105 - white shield with "unauthorized access..." notification
Hello, would appreciate help.
My n7105 is currently running android 4.3 (apparently that is the latest update as when i clicked on update it told me i am already running on the latest), the baseband version N7105TDVUEMK3, I have installed twrp 2.8, make a nandroid back up to get it ready for rooting. when i try to reboot i was ask to install SuperSu which i did. after booting the device I installed the new version of SuperSU and it asked me to remove Knox which I did. HOWEVER, I then tried to run reset Spen app I am told app fail to run the task and get the white shield with "unauthorized access..." notification telling me to "click here" I do and nothing happens.
Any suggestions on how to disable it completely? Am I missing something? I want full control.
Also, when i check to see if there is any update via OTA, it said this device is modified so can update? can you can i make the system status official so you can receive OTA updates
Thanks!
Hey All - so this is a weird problem. I'm running Android Pie on a Google Pixel XL. Stock. Unlocked. Rooted. (Magisk 16.7 (1671) w/ Magisk Mgr 5.8.3). I've been running and using Google Pay for a long time successfully. I have two credit cards stored in my account and the only times I need to re-enter / re-verify them is when I disable security (usually to use TWRP to install Magisk when TWRP is unable to decrypt - which is currently the case). But once I have verified the cards (via text message from each bank), I usually never have to worry about them again. However, since upgrading to Pie and after initially verifying the cards, I have had to unexpectedly reverify the cards even though nothing has changed about my configuration or the cards themselves. It happened once a few weeks ago - shortly after the Pie upgrade which I assumed was just something I hadn't completed after the upgrade (even though I believe I did). And then it happened again yesterday. I went to use my phone to pay via Google Pay at the store and it prompted me to verify both credit cards (Setup Card for use in store)...
Anyone else experiencing this? Or am I just lucky? The reverify is painless - but can be annoying - especially when you don't have your wallet and there is a line behind you at the checkout counter...
Thanks,
S
Google Pay can be used under rooted device?
I'm used to use Google Pay very often, but didn't encounter that need to re-verify cards again.
I had tried device unlocked, rooted, but I can't use Google Pay since my bank add the root detection for the security.
It's very surprising that you're running Google Pay with rooted device.
I have seem others encountered double fingerprint verification.
Not sure if you're the same case with them.

I've always been able to leverage the root hiding capabilities offered by the root providers I have used. Originally suhide for SuperSu...then when I moved to Magisk MagiskHide. Both have worked well for my root (and unlocked bootloader) hiding purposes. I've always been able to use Android/Google Pay, banking apps, alarm system apps, Netflix, etc...Occasionally, the cat and mouse game catches up with the root hiding solution, but the developers have been pretty quick to overcome any of the challenges encountered thus far.
Got the same problem with verifying card.
It's just poping up the verify load page and then goes back instantly.
I hadn't got any problems with it before so it's strange for me.
I tried hiding root, reinstalling, readding card and even installing older versions of google pay.
However I am on Galaxy S7 Edge Oreo

I have exactly the same behavior on my LG G5 with root and Magisk. My bank is mBank (part of Commerzbank) if that matters.

Looks like I found the problem (at least in my case).
Some ROMs got issues with fingerprint scanner. I noticed that in my bank app after adding the fingerprint unlock it started to crash. Also in google play I couldn't add fingerprint as payment confirmation.
In Google Pay one of the steps of verifying cc is fingerprint check. I think that this fingerprint bug may cause the google pay to fail.
After installing a ROM with fingerprint scanner working properly (now I'm on LineageOS) the issue went away. Got my cc verified successfully with root and rom
I have some issues with certain apps on an unrooted Galaxy S8+ Exynos running LineageOS 17.1 (Android 10.0) with TWRP recovery installed.
I own a Galaxy Watch Active, and I attempted to install the Galaxy Wear app from the Play Store and opened it, and got a 'Operating System on your phone has been modified in an unauthorised way' error. I also own Galaxy Buds+ which I need to pair as well (using standard bluetooth with them for now). How do I fix this issue? (bear in mind I'm not rooted)
The HSBC UK app is also messing around a bit, every time I open it and click the checkbox next to 'I accept the terms and conditions', it reboots my phone and crashes the app. Is this a general Android 10 issue with support for the HSBC app, or an anti-custom ROM move from HSBC? And if this is the case, how would I fix this too?
A more general issue is that Google Pay isn't working. It says my phone isn't supported to make payments in-store via NFC because it has been rooted (it hasn't been rooted, just installed a custom ROM). I didn't pass the SafetyNet test. It was installed with gapps by the way.
The least important issue is the Transport for London app, which says that my phone has been tampered with and is no longer supported by TfL and the app closes. Any way to trick the app into thinking I am not running a custom ROM?
Thank you so much for reading and I'd really appreciate your help! Thanks!
Did you manage to find a fix for the HSBC UK app reboot/crashing problem? I am having the same issue, but on Havoc OS running Android 11 rooted with Magisk.
