Hi!
Im using TWRP as my custom recovery and I did a backup for all my apps because I wanted to do a clean install of a rom. Im now with the new rom installed and anything on the phone and I want to restore the data using the backup (I saved it to the computer before flashing).
My problem is that TWRP doesn't recognize the backup. I've placed it in TWRP > BACKUPS > Folder (it was there when I pulled it to my pc) but it seems to be the wrong place (I suppose it is on storage/0/TWRP/BACKUPS). I can't move the backup there.
How can I make my backup recognizable by TWRP?
Hey Guys i need Urgent help,
I am currently in 4.4.4 KK and i try to flash though LOLLYPOP TWRP BACKUP posted by Hars_kp .
My backup was detected inside Twrp folder .. i too have my orginal ROM stock backup & i wiped then tried to restore lollipop backup .
It was restored successfully . After restore complete asked me to swipe to install Super SU i did it ..
Finally system Rebooted but ...
I got STUCK AT BOOT LOGO my be 5-6 secounds and then went black screen i waited till 10-20 Min but nothing made my boot and pressing LONG While power + vol down i can enter HBOOT and then to recovery .
But i am still unknown why even restoring the lollipop twrp backup i got stuck on black screen ????
Please guys help me ASAP
Restoring Lollipop over KK bootloader corrupts the partition table.
- Change the recovery to stock
- Do a factory reset from HBOOT menu, it will fix your partition table
- Now, recovery to TWRP...
- Restore your original KK backup
Android 5 has a different system partition. So you can not restore one system to another

As everybody has mentioned, you CAN NOT recover Lollipop backup on a Kitkat system device. You need to update your device to do so. First download kitkat unrooted recovery backup and restore it. Then try updating.....

there is one backup for kitkat twrp on this forum, but I'm not sure it's unrooted or not. Check it. Restore it and flash stock htcd820 recovery using fastboot command and then check s/w updates in settings
My phone is GT-N7105 (Samsung Note 2)
I had a nandroid backup before, then I copied the backup to PC, still have it. Then I flashed lineage 14 (nougat), then flashed lineage 13 (marshmallow). I deleted the nandroid backup on the phone storage sometime during that period. Now I want to restore the backup (stock rom) so I copied the backup files from the PC to phone storage.
Now when I go to TWRP Restore mode, no backups are found.
I already searched through the internet and found the renaming method but there's a problem:
this is my original backup:
TWRP/backups/42f7491d7b409fc7/2017-03-01--05-28-34_JZO54K.N7105XXDMB
I tried to make a new backup of my current lineage (just to see if the folder name changed based on the new folder the backup process will create), here is what the resulting folder was:
TWRP/backups/42f7491d7b409fc7/2017-07-05--09-27-29_lineage_tOlte-userdebug_6.0.1_MOB31K_ab972c
As you can see, only the innermost folder name changed. So from what I found through searching, it said to rename the old backup folder to the new backup folder's name, meaning :
I changed
2017-03-01--05-28-34_JZO54K.N7105XXDMB2
to
2017-07-05--09-27-29_lineage_tOlte-userdebug_6.0.1_MOB31K_ab972c
TWRP still can't see the original backup.
I already tried renaming only part of the orignal backup folder name, specifically the 6 character code (found 2, JZO54K and XXDMB2) to the 6 char code from new backup (MOB31K and ab972c) but TWRP still can't recognize the original backup.
So what should I rename the original backup folder for TWRP to recognize it and make it appear? I really need to restore it back to stock rom. help please. Thanks
EDIT:
TWRP I used before was 2.8.0 but I just updated the TWRP to 3.1.0 and still can't recognize original backup
Also, If I made the thread in wrong section, please move it and I apologize in advance. Thanks.
Hi, I tried to restore a full image with TWRP including firmware. Everything went smooth, only with the firmware I got the message "extractTarFork Process ended with error 255." My system (Resurrection 7.02) boots, but finger reader, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth don't work. What can I do?

I solved like this:
copied twrp backup onto computer, used winrar to unpack firmware.vfat.win -> firmware.vfat -> image folder
phone booted into TWRP, enabled MTP, copied image folder to sdcard
mount system and firmware partition in TWRP and copy image folder from sdcard to /firmware folder using file manager from TWRP
I recommend to backup and to restore EFS partition also when sim problem after flashing ROM. I had this problem flashing crDroid.
Keep in a safe place outside your phone persist/modem/firmware/EFS backups for the future.
I worked for a week only to get out from a bootloop generated because "extractTarFork Process ended with error 255." on firmware partition.
Rebooted and everything was fine.
I have now crDroid 5.3 working on a2 lite.
Hey there !! recently i was trying to create a backup of my stock rom with twrp (3.5.0) but there is no option of sytem in backup section , so I went to mount section and tick the system option there and reboot it to recovery , and after that , i came to notice that the system has been unticked again and still there is no option of system in backup section , is there any way to fix this
