Pixel C's wifi country code problem, help! - Pixel C Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

sorry for my poor english, I'm not a English native speaker.
I have a problem on Pixel C's wifi country code.
My 5g wifi channel is 149, and I found that my Pixel C doesn't support 149 channel. If i changed into 36 channel. Pixel C can access my wifi.
But when I use 36 channel, my other devices' wifi quality will be obviously weaker.
I have tried flash my Pixel C into lineage 15.1, pure nexus 7.1, RR 6.1.0, but still can't edit wifi country code. And I have already used a magisk module "Extend wifi channels", but still doesn't work at all.
( I have another android tablet, Amazon kindle fire HDX7, run on RR 5.8.5( android 7.1.2) It can easily change itself's wifi country code in settings-wifi-advanced-wifi country code. And I can access 5g wifi by channel 149)
My twrp version is 3.2.3.0-dragon.
Thanks for reading, anyone can help me = =

It's not always correct to assume that the higher 5G channels in your region are operating at higher powers? In some regions they run at lower power than the lower 5G channels but since I don't know which region you are in, I have no idea. In any event, I would have thought that getting the WiFi to access these channels will be a function of which region your Pixel C is set to?

Sorry, I'm not sure if I understood what you meaning.
I'm in China, but my router "ASUS ac66u-b1"'s settings region is US.
When I use 149 channel, my router 5g wifi power is 25 dBm, and when I use 36 channel, my router 5g wifi power is only 12 dBm.
My phone. oneplus A0001, at same point.
5g wifi 149 channel 195Mbps
5g wifi 36 channel 130Mbps
As my pixel C's region. I have no way to confirm what it is. I surely confirm I choose China and Chinese. But Pixel C still can't access 149 channel.
I have tried this way:
1. flash into pure nexus 7.1, and I couldn't find wifi country code settings in settings-wifi-advanced.
2. flash into lineage 16.0( unofficial), the default language is EN-UK.
3. flash into lineage 15.1, resurrection remix 6.1.0.
4. magisk mod "Extend wifi channels"
5. magisk mod "OREO_WifiCountryCodeSet" It shows that I have already change my wifi country code into CN, can't take any ways. but still nothing changed.
6. xposed mod "XposedWifiFixer-1.0_OREO8.1" & "android.wifiregionalfix_v2_f7c4c0" (No GUI, no any change)
7. adb shell put wifi-country-code us (No reaction)
8. file "/system/etc/wifi/bcmdhd.cal" change the ccode from 0 to X2 (thanks for @followmsi told me do that). nothing changed too.
I am not sure if my Pixel C support 5.8Ghz wifi on hardware now. Considering flash it into factory image 7.1.2, not sure if it is useful.

What I meant was that whether or not your Pixel C will access the 5.9GHz band will be dependant on the regulatory rules in China, your router and the Pixel C all together. In most countries of the world, the 5.9GHz band is restricted to ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) in vehicles and not for general use? Perhaps it is like this in China? Further than that, I don't know what else to suggest, sorry...

Not sure if you still have the pixel c but you can edit the wifi country code in certain roms, like the android 12 based Pixel Experience one!

Removing locked/default APN

Has anyone had any luck removing locked default APNs? The default T-Mobile one is getting on my nerves causing MMS issues from time to time, so I'm looking to just remove it. Tried deleting the apn-conf.xml, tried deleting the mmsdb in telephony, rebooted, and the locked APN is still there. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Same here. I'd like to set my apn myself. Even after I add my prefered Apn set up with tmo, after a reboot it goes back to the default. Any help would be great.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/77c1dj/android_tethering_and_apn_carrier_config/ it's annoying that google bowed to carrier pressure and allowed this to happen on their OS. The whole point of a carrier-neutral unlocked phone was that it could not be influenced or restricted by carriers. That article says Android Oreon on the original Pixel doesn't have this limitation either, it appears to be just Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL owners.
I can't wait for better custom ROM's for the Pixel 2 XL / Taimen. Hopefully a ROM author will "undo" those Google commits that restrict us from being able to play around with APN settings.

Yeah, this is getting ridiculous. For whatever reason I cannot tether at full speed from 8.1 preview onward. I contacted T-Mobile and was told that I should be able to tether at full speed. Sure enough I put my SIM card with the proper APN in my Pixel XL running 8.0 and it works without any issues. If I try to change the APN on my 2XL it reverts to the locked APN. Does anyone have a workaround for this?

I assume you have that "T-Mobile One Plus" the "Plus" feature/addon right? Allowing full speed tethering. What kind of speeds are you getting when you tether? The only reason I wanted to change my APN settings was I wanted to disable IPV6 support on the APN, I was testing the "Wehe" application that tests speeds to various websites and looks for large variations, basically it's trying to detect if any throttling or rate-limiting (ie breakage of net neutrality) is going on. I was curious if T-Mobile was doing it now that I have the "plus" feature on my account and I've enabled "HD Media" in my account settings. In theory I should have full speed to all websites but I was trying to use Wehe to confirm that but Wehe doesn't support IPV6. I went to try and change my APN setting to use IPV4 only but that's when I learned about this frustrating APN issue. I tried to duplicate the APN settings but it won't let me set "default" for the new APN. Stupid Google bowing to the pressure from carriers. They should have slowly and loudly told the carriers, while staring right at them, "UNLOCKED" given them the middle finger while walking away. But instead we get commits restricting our freedom. The whole point of the Pixel 2 XL / Pure Android is freedom. ugh.
I've left my Pixel 2 XL on Android 8.0 for now, it keeps wanting to upgrade to 8.1 but I'm not letting it until I'm sure that by doing so I won't cause any issues when I'm ready to go to a custom ROM. I so can't wait for Resurrection Remix Oreo edition to come out and to support our phones. The ROM options available for the taimen right now are limited and I haven't seen one yet that's really making me want to unlock my bootloader and lose my data partition and having to redo everything somewhat from scratch.

Yeah I just found this out today as the engineers @ Ring wanted me to see if my phone was using IPv4 because that's their protocol for the Ring Doorbell to work for streaming but alas on Android 8.1 - Google & TMO have greyed out the factory setting & allow no adding of APN that mimics their factory setting which is IPv6.
ARGHHH!

SM-N7505 Problem with 2 Network Mode Meus To Switch 3G, 4G

Hello and thanks for any help you can provide.
Problem:
I have Samsung sm-n7505 Germany DBT.
When I go into Settings / More Networks / Mobile Networks.
I have 2 menus to switch my phones Network Modes.
When I try to make a call I get no signal or the call will drop like it is switching modes or the two modes are conflicting and causing this failure.
I use Lebara Phone services sim only I have never switched this out.
I have tried to set both to the exact mode and all kinds of mix match still the same. I also have a problem with the wifi setting the dhcp ip adress at home. I set this to static since I know how to do this and it works fine.
But if I want to jump onto a public wifi, unless I know the exact ip range 192.168.xxx.xx of the public connection, my phone will not connect.
I have the phone rooted with cf autoroot that I downloaded from the newest .mobi site for cfautoroot.
I have the latest available firmware update for Android 5.1.1 .
I have been researching this and find no sign of this in google or here as I can see.
Help is much appreciated!
Scott
I can not get 4g network visibled to set in Samsung galaxy note 3 neo, only shows in network " E " after more network setting enabled in which no option is given for 4g Lte /volte

Carrier Aggregation

I have the 64GB Global version
Last Miui 10.3.4.0
I live in Argentina, we use this four LTE bands: 2 - 4 - 7 - 28
The phone can connect ok to those four bands individually but I think don’t is not doing CA, not even 2CA
My previous phone Samsung A5 2016 did 2CA ok, I don't remember exactly all the combinations, but I think 7+28 and 4+28 for sure
First of all, how to see if Mi9SE is doing CA without root? I use *#*#4636#*#* and Cellular-Z app
The phone claims to support 3CA; but which are the available combinations?
Tested also the app "NetMonster"; there its shows up to 4CA which I think is fake, so I discard this app.
Thank you in advance!
Yes this device support 3CA, here is supported combinations: https://cacombos.com/device?model=M1903F2G
Yes Netmonster doesn't show correctly. There is app called Network Signal Guru what show real data but require root.

Phone blocked on forward ports / applications / vpn ?

Hello,
this is my issue, on several applications I have operating issue, for example OpenVpn, Termius (SSH connection app), Qbittorrent, and even any other VPN application (Bear tunnel for example) etc ...
All its applications have remote connections on specific ports, and none works on this phone in GSM network.
No matter how much I searched, the only conclusion I found was that the tel would be "restricted" on the communication of these various ports.
I tested my SIM in another phone no problem in GSM, on the MI 9 SE the applications work well but only in wifi.
The last straw is that it works on a 4G router by being connected via wifi above, on the other hand if I put the sim in the phone it does not work ...
The phone is up to date with ROM MIUI 11.0.4 Global. Is it normal that it is a "global" and not an EU?
I bought the phone directly in China, everything seems OK for the EU, the charger, the region the language. I even ended up resetting the phone and same problem.
Maybe the phone or the ROM would be blocked from the point of view of Chinese censorship via GSM networks? I have doubts but I do not know where to look ... If someone has an idea
and sorry if my english is bad
thanks in advance

Question [5G/LTE Locking Bands] Reward?

Hello! So I got the Pixel 6 Pro and I am coming from Galaxy S20U (Owned Pixel 1/2/3/5)
So on my S20 I can change NR/LTE bands as much as I like without root by using an app or the hidden menu *#2236#
Where I work all day its all concrete walls, so me locking LTE Bands its a must.
I can not do that on my google Pixel 6 PRO and yes I tried *#4636# but those options do not work with me because you can not lock bands.
I am ok If I need to root my 6Pro in order to do this, Will Network Guru do this once rooted? I am willing to include reward $ for whoever helps me with this.
Thank You
I'm sad to say that Network Guru simply won't work because Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro uses Shannon Modem for 5G, which is an Exynos modem (if i'm not wrong) and Network Signal Guru requires Qualcomm Modem to work.
**edit: typo**
Under settings__internet__gear wheel next to your carrier and scroll done to preferred network type. Unless you don't have that option.
I'm still trying to figure out diag modes for this phone. I can get the modem and serial devices to show up. Per my conversations with cstark:
resetprop ro.bootmode usbradio
resetprop ro.build.type userdebug
setprop sys.usb.config acm,dm,adb
setprop persist.vendor.usb.usbradio.config dm
Revert:
setprop vendor.modem.logging.shannon_logging false
setprop persist.vendor.modem.logging.shannon_app false

Everything seems to be controlled by /vendor/bin/modem_logging_control and /vendor/bin/dmd.
Regular START/STOP calls to modem_logging_config from root shell can yield usable logs. We can also get the apps started in special SHANNON_DM or SHANNON_APP modes, but no idea what to do with them.
For example:
modem_logging_control START
modem_logging_control SHANNON_APP
modem_logging_control STOP

Click to collapse
Logs saved to /data/vendor/slog/.
The Shannon DM version floating around is too old and I haven't gotten a decent scat setup. Airscreen might work but Network Signal Guru doesn't. No tools for this phone are good at the moment.
And that's the extent of our knowledge at the moment...

Thank you, I will try to be checking on this if decide not to return the phone. Is Airscreen a Magisk Module?
No, it's a desktop app. There is no band locking.
Can someone tell me the benefits of this mod? Genuinely interested.
Lower frequencies penetrate walls and concrete better than higher frequencies in the spectrum, at the cost of speed.
Locking a 5G/LTE band helps save battery life because it prevents constant hunting for a better signal between bands.
You can try your luck with 'Shortcut Master' app on Google Play. Once opened click on show all apps -> Phone services -> scroll until the bottom and click on band or radioinfo and click on Launch. Then you can change the band and frequency as per your liking.
No wifi at work?
A lot of workplaces have strict firewalls and network policies in place so it's understandable to use your own network connection for non-corporate usage

With this method let's say I choose class 9, it will remain locked?
I believe this is a WCDMA band selection and will have no effect on LTE/5G, am I wrong?

I think you can simply turn off 5G from the settings menu. (You can also set Prefferd Network type to LTEOnly from Radio info... *#*#4636*#*#)
The sad thing is that you can't fix the band in Network Signal Guru (or any other APP).
This may be difficult to do unless Google provides a development tool that supports Shannon modems.
The above looks like something different, aiming more at 'by region or country' to me. Not the traditional band selection found in other devices. It'd be nice to find out if we can systematically program these to hunt on certain LTE/5G bands. I am on a tmobile migrated sprint plan on my p6p. It works great except for that fact that where I live band 26 is garbage. The only solution realy is to find that sweet spot when it swaps to 25 or lock it into the device. So would be nice if the google momos release it, you know, in the spirit of open source, like they initially set out to do so many years ago when android started.
good news everyone. version 4.0.4 of Network Signal Guru has band locking for the pixel 6
