ZeroLemon 4700 mah Battery Case review - LG G7 ThinQ Accessories

Hey everyone,
So I know there are a couple other reviews for this case but that's ok. I have been using mine for a bit now and last night after a lot of real life usage have put together a review. See how it held up in real life conditions!!! Feel free to ask any questions if you have any!!!

I know you weren't fussy about discussing the ZeroLemon in your other thread, but thought it may be better not to clutter that one up too much, so I replied here

Nice. I'm still using mine. One thing I forgot to mention in the video that took me a bit to figure out was that when your phone battery is at 100% the battery case will turn off after a bit. It's not a bug though it's a feature. I mean it kinda makes sense right. Why waste power if it's at 100%. So when I'd look at my phone at times and see it's not charging and went down to like 96 or 97 I'd power the case back on and shortly thereafter it would go back up. Pretty clever feature actually.

Ah, ok. This will be my first ever extended battery attachment on any device so this will be interesting
Will the ZeroLemon turn on and start charging at "X%" of phone battery left, or do you manually turn the Zero on?

You have to manually turn it on. That would be pretty cool if it were that smart but it's not.

So I've been using my ZeroLemon since last Saturday now. While I enjoy the peace of mind of having more power available if needed, I'm not quite sure I need it to be honest I can get through the day just fine with the phone's built in battery.
Also, not quite sure I like the look of the carbon fiber appearance, but it's growing on me.
I always, and have to, use a belt clip/holster for my devices. And as such, there is no such thing available for the LG G7 with the Zero. So, I modified my existing belt clip/holster to fit it (heat guns are wonderful items )
Anyway, just my experience and not sure if I'll continue to use it, or toss it in the drawer for possible future use

I don't see how such a thing can be considered a case replacement to be taken with you to work, school or the coffee shop.
I see such a device as being for when you will be gone from civilization (Read: USB plugs) for a few days. I mean you can charge these phones with a laptop or any USB station in a lot of places, without needing the charger with you.

True, I'll go with you on that.
I suppose there are folks who don't want to worry about their battery dying during heavy usage and having to carry a charging cable and a means of charging it.
And then there are other folks like me who thought it looked pretty neat and wanted to try it

Hey thanks for the review. I've loved Zerolemon. Bought their extended life batteries for both my Note 3 and Galaxy S 3. Man those things were beastly!
Question, when it's charging on the phone how does that effect quick charge? Does it disable it until the case gets full then let it quick charge after the case is at 100%?
Random comment of the day from me listening to your voice made me laugh a little bit, not in a bad way of course, I knew from the long O's that you were either in the northern parts of the US or Canada. I've got family in Minnesota and Wisconsin and had a few online XBL friends from Canada. It's really funny when I start to combine my familys' Southern and Northern accent that I start picking up both. ADHD for the win!

Delete, I found a home for it

Cameron Sino Extended Battery - Review

Thought I would write a quick review of the extended battery I just bought.
Background
I was rather unhappy with my original battery as were most people! It only lasted me a day and as my job requires me to be out and about a lot, plus to call people often, I thought something more robust would be better. My solution = The Cameron Sino 2600mAH Battery!
Initial Impressions
The battery is twice the size of stock. The battery cover did not close on my phone. Total size isnt too bad. It nearly doubles the phone thickness, but when I come onto the testing section later this is a worthwhile sacrifice.
Cover Fit
The cover didnt fit so I decided to buy a 32gb micro sd card (which works fine), and to super glue the cover on. I figured that using a scalpel I could remove the back (I tested and it works fine) if ever required. Hopefully I wont need to access it ever, or until I upgrade in 18 months and decide to sell it.
Performance
After charging to 100%, running down to 0% 3 times, I have now had the phone on for 5 days and it's current charge level is 10%. As you can see this is awesome. My settings:
Helix Launcher
Wifi On about an hour a day
Light phone calls (around 5 hours)
Light texting - 20 odd a day
3g Off
GPS off
I imagine in real life conditions 3 days moderate use would be obtainable.
Conclusion
Overall I am very very happy with this battery. It really brings this phone into the "worthwhile for daily use" category (it should have been here originally ofcourse). Hopefully will be able to use the standard UI rather than Helix when 2.1 comes out. Damn app power leaks.
Rating: 4/5 (Battery door a poor fit)
Edit: Forgot to mention at £16.99 delivered (amazon.co.uk), you can hardly go wrong!!!
Could you post a pic of your phone now please?
Unfortunately my only camera is my phone...... sorry. Maybe someone else can!?
Wow! I assume you like your phone carrier since it is difficult now to remove the sim card.
Well my carrier (Three) used to be terrible. However they appear to have upgraded their cell towers and I now have full signal most places that my friends dont! So yeah I like my carrier!
Why dont you buy the extra thick covers that are all over ebay so that you dont have to glue anything?
Edit: My bad they arent on ebay, but there is a thread in the accessories forum, I'm sure of it.
theres a couple of posts and reviews in a thread on here already and myself and several others paid just £12.99 free postage from ebay
Yeah I rarely buy off ebay - had a lot of problems with sellers before (might just be my luck ). I saw the other reviews, and just wanted to do my own hehe.
any chance to get a pic of your phone? how it looks with the glued cover?
If i ma not wrong, that battery comes with a cover for X10 right? Are u saying that that cover that they provide does not fit properly?
Mine fits properly. You just have to force the sides of the cover into place and thats it. Battery life is much better than the oem one and has a very noticeable difference.
ordered one from http://www.megacapacity.com/26985.html . Lets see how it goes
Just updating this thread for potential cameron sino battery buyers. I got the package 4 days ago. I removed my stock battery, popped this battery in, used the back cover that was provided by them. The phone became almost twice the depth thanx to the battery.
Then the issues started. Even though the green light used to come on when connected to the mains, the phone never used to start. Initially i thought the charge is low, so left it overnight, but then the next morning i saw tht I still had the same issue. After fidgeting with it for sometime, i noticed that there is a 1(or 0.5) mm gap between the battery and contacts because of which the x10 did not start. I used a thin plastic sheet(amost like a sheet of paper) to hold the battery up against the contact and it worked fine. Right now the problem is that if i shake the phone a bit vigorously, it gets disconnected because of the shorter battery.
But i want to see how the battery lasts so am using it for now. It all boils down to the time i have to wait till next charge. If it really gives around 70% more time (as claimed by many in other forums) i will use it despite the bulkiness and the smaller battery issues. Thanx for reading!!!
so this comes with a case as well for £12.99?

Thanks for this info! I was having the same issue with this battery. I thought I was having a driver issue for extended batteries but after reading your post, I confirmed that it wasnt the case. Fixed the problem but with a different approach.
What I did was I soldered a small amount of lead onto the contacts on the battery (careful enough not to short the contacts) so that it would give better contact on pins of the x10.. I know the process seems a little bit drastic but it works! I can't make the phone shutdown even when I shook the hell out of this phone.

[Q] NOT SEIDIO- 3500mAh battery + cover on Amazon- $23.99

3500mAh battery + cover- looks smoother than Seidio, but also looks like it could be cheaply made.
Check it out.
What do you think? Would you gamble on it? Why or why not?
i took the gamble, i'll let you know how it is in 2-6 business days
$19? Seems cheap...especially for an "extended" battery. Our 1900mAh battery as a replacement costs more than that, haha.
will this still fit in the lapdock?
Would probably fit in the lapdock if you took the back off

I ordered one from Gorilla Gadgets. I can easily use the phone HEAVILY (games, calls, texting, facebook, music, bluetooth always on) from 630am to 10pm without charging or it dying.
Just took the risk as well. Will report back on how it does. 2-6 business days!

Geez man that really sucks. Thanks for letting us know tho.
I think I might not be trying hard enough to make it fit, but it just seems like it doesn't want to go in.
Hello, everyone. I received this battery a couple days ago. The battery doesn't just slip right in, you have to push really hard. Overall, the extra sign is not as bad as i thought. It actually blend in with the phone. I was using it heavily for 14 hours straight, when the phone said i have 1% left. I thought that the phone would shut off but it keep on going for another 3 hours. It probably can go on but im afraid it might ran out while im on the road. I recharge it and will continue to monitor it. The only problem i see is the battery indicator is not accurate. I hope that it will calibrate itself in a few more power cycle.
You had to push hard? I pushed super hard and I was afraid of breaking the phone. I'll give it another shot though!

Yes, put the battery conductor side down first and push the rest of it down. It will work.
Sorry. I feel like an idiot for not being able to push a battery in. But when you put it in conductor side first, did the back of yours get stuck on the fingerprint scanner part?
I feel like I'm going to break the device if I push any harder.

Lol. With this case you can probably last 4-5 days with the z3c
Ridiculous price...$89.50
You can BUY n°5 10.000mah rapid charge external battery.......and you can use your z3c for 2 months.

Thats actually a really awesome idea with using the mag charging ports! if it were 50 bucks i would get one right now
I'd love to see this case in a video, just to get a good look at its proportions etc. It is pricey....but I'd probably just spend the cash on car parts anyway.....

You asked for it
1. I would like to see photos of the phone with and without the case lying on a flat surface, to get am idea of how thick it is.
2. When you use the case, does the phone think it's constantly being charged? What amount of days shows you ultrastamina mode?
3. How long does it take to charge fully?
4. Do you notice any overheating issues after using the case for some time?
Thanks, that's all I can think of at the moment

The case has a button on the rear of the case to enable the charging process. When the case is deactivated the phone behaves as it would without the case. With the case activated it behaves as it would when sitting in a charging dock or with a magnetic charging cable attached.
The only 'downside' so far to the use of magnetic charging port is that when the case is activated the phone believes it is in a 'dock' and automatically answers phone calls with the loud speaker on.
But I have found mention of an xposed module that may rectify this automation, I will report back with a link when I have tested to confirm its effect.
I am studying all this week so give me a little while to fully answer all your questions, but I will answer them
Photos
Here are some photos that hopefully show the case and it's proportions well enough.
I'm no photographer by any means though haha.
Oh and ignore the metal dome stuck onto the back of it, that's for my car mount.
That looks so bad!
While it is awesome to have 5 days battery life, this is for special occasions only in my opinion.

oh I agree. I wanted it mainly as an alternative to carrying a separate power bank hanging off the phone via USB cable. At least this case attaches neatly to the phone and can still fit my pocket.
So yes, ugly, but highly practical.
I feel I should also mention the build quality is really very good, it feels very solid.

Well, given the info on their homepage it should last at least twice as long as your phone does now.
built in battery is 2600mAH, the mugen brings an additional 3000mAh. So I guess in Ultra-Stamina mode it basically lasts like an old Nokia? I was actually about ordering one for my upcoming transatlantic flight, but I just saw that they'll ship again in mid-June only
Well, I will receive the mugen battery in 10 days, I don't use ultra stamina but stamina is on all the time so I will see exactly the difference. Now I have between 8 and 10 hours sot, if I have between 16 and 20 hours sot, it's just great so I wait to see ?.

Any more impressions now that you've had it for a short while? I'm really temped to buy one too.. it's just one of those "good-to-have" things.
Also, do you charge it via micro usb, like the smartphone and how long does it take to charge the battery case completely?
Btw, do we already know the size of the Z4 Compact? it would be great if it worked on the upcoming model too..

So far so good! I do intend to put some more stats up from my usage I've just been flat out with university. Luckily that all wraps up next week!
Yep it just charges via the same cable as the phone.
The use of the magnetic charging port definitely makes the case much more useful. I had an epic ZeroLemon case for my note 3 with a built in extended battery and it such an ordeal to install and remove the phone from the case. This is a much better solution.
It's hard to measure the effect it has on predicted battery life because it charges via the magnetic charging port the phone recognises it as an AC charging source.
Once I have got some stats I might even make a little youtube review, maybe, don't want to get famous hahahaha.

I got this one. Works well. My only compliant would be that the phone does not easily come off the dock. You have to hold down the dock in order to pull the phone free of it.

Well, I've been searching for the past few days trying to find a charging dock from an at least somewhat reputable-looking company (read: no Chinese/wholesale docks from Amazon) but couldn't find anything until I happened upon this post! So I just ordered one of those from Amazon. Should be here early next week and I will try to give you my impressions of it, though I still don't have my V20 so I can't really test it out fully.
Did you get it cheaper than what androidcentral is selling them for? When is your V20 supposed to be coming in?

It came out to $30.90 on Android Central including shipping, which would take 7-11 days. On Amazon with Prime it's $31.95 so for the extra dollar I'd rather just get it in two days and not have to worry in case my phone decides to come, plus very easy returns in case it doesn't work or for some reason I just really don't like it.
I pre-ordered from B&H but still no word from them on when it will ship. Somebody on Reddit said he spoke to them on Live Chat a few days ago and they told him "soon after the 1st"... FWIW I spoke to somebody on Live Chat a few days ago too and they said they had no information to give me. However something I noticed is that the listing on the B&H site recently changed from "Expected Availability: November whatever whatever" to "Ship Date: Not Available". So I hope that means it's going to be shipping soon. I live right outside of NYC so usually anything I buy from them gets here next-day. Everybody who have their carrier-branded phones already are really making me impatient to get my hands on this thing.
Cool. I got my Verizon on Oct 21st and so far I'm loving it. Great phone!

Ok, just got my phone today. Same! This thing is pretty awesome. I'm really liking it so far. I shot off an email to Seidio at the beginning of the week asking them about the charging specs of the dock and if fast-charge would work through it... they never got back to me but when I put my phone in the dock today it said fast-charging was enabled! Kinda surprised to be honest but looks like it works. Only problem is the cable is bright white and the charger is like a dark matte black. Gonna have to look into buying a different cable.

I purchased this one. It works fine although I whish it was a little heavier so I wouldnt have to hold it down so hard when removing the phone from it. I do like the height adjustability of the connector so it works with different cases.

That's the one I got. The thing I especially love is that even though you do have to hold the dock down as you pull the phone off, the dock has plenty of area to press down on and the resistance of the phone unplugging is relative small. I had a dock for my Note 4 and first of all, the phone required quite a bit of force to pull off the charger, and second of all, the stand didn't really have much area to hold down on while pulling off the phone.
So coming from past experience, trust me, this dock is pretty nice despite the flaws. Lol

There are quite a few cases like the one you mentioned and it has definitely peaked my interest as well. I know some people who own the morphie battery cases and they seem to work well. Try it out and let us know! Hahaa

What's the difference between this and the 6600mah batteries with rubber case? Both seem to have decent cases.
I don't like that awkward battery shapes, not the bumps of the replacement doors. I'd rather have the case to simplify it.

Hi guys,
Has anyone given this a shot? I am desperate for battery lately, and was contemplating on getting some extended without a bump. I came across this today!

Any thoughts?

I just got mine yesterday. The case it pretty nice, and I like it, but the thickness bothers me personally. It isn't too bad, but I like a slim phone, so I'm using this case as a portable charger.
Here are some details:
PROS
Convenient
Can use phone freely while charging
LED on back that tells case's approximate charge level
VERY easy to take off or put on
Case is very solid. I haven't attempted to drop my phone, but the case will definitely do some protection.
Redirects the speaker to a front facing one with little loss in quality.
NFC still works, unlike many of the larger batteries with custom back plates. I tested NFC with the case on and it worked perfectly fine.
CONS
Just about doubles the weight and thickness of the phone
Case must be turned on to start charging
Once phone reaches 100% charge, the case turns off. Once it does, it seems that you can power it back on again and keep the phone at 100% for a few hours. It's just a tad bit annoying that you need to do this.
Same thing as above, except when unplugging the phone+case from a power source. You need to then power on the case.
Overall, OP, I suggest you getting one if you need the battery and can live with double weight and thickness.

I genuinely appreciate you're feedback.
This seems like a well balanced unit. What is the standard charge time of the case itself?
I know the case doesn't allow data+power but just power. Does it have a passthru to charge the phone even if the case is on the phone itself?
You mention doubling the size, would this be with a case on it? Something like a normal tpu case then doubled? Or really just two phones?
The case is able to charge your phone how many tines?

I cant give an exact time frame, but it's just slightly longer than charging the phone from 0-100%. The case also supports fast charge (according to the manufacturer on the Amazon page).

Youre right in that the port only supports power. No pass through to charge just the phone and not the case. However, if you plug the phone+case in, the phone charges too, but I think it's technically charging from the case as the case charges from power.

Two phones. MAYBE two phones if one of them had a slim TPU case on and the other didn't.

Not sure about exact number of times as I don't use this case daily. I only use it as needed instead of swapping batteries or plugging in to a portable battery charger. The case is 5000mAh though, so it should charge the phone 1.5x (roughly). So with the case on and phone and case at 100% charge, you should have 250% battery (roughly again).
Sorry for some of the vague answers. Again, I don't use this case as a daily driver because I don't care for the thickness. I only use it if I'm going on a trip or the phone is being used a lot more than usual.
