Accidentally wiped Vendor in TWRP - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

Phone: Redmi Note 5 Global Version (Not Rom!) Red
I installed TWRP successfully and accidentally wiped Vendor (no backups created) before I flashed xioami.eu miui 10 rom.
Now when I try to install Xiaomi.eu Rom in TWRP i get the following error
"E2001: Failed to update vendor image.
Updater process ended with error 7. Error installing zip file...."
How can I fix this? Please help I am afraid I bricked this phone

flash vendor image via fastboot.

How do I get the right vendor image? can you post all commands? Explain

Please help me

Flash original MIUI ROM using fastboot method
en.miui.com/a-234.html
Flash latest available version

Redmi Note 5 Latest Global Stable Version Fastboot File Download
or Redmi Note 5 Pro Latest Global Stable Version Fastboot File Download?
I ask because I got the Redmi Note 5 Global Version (Dual Camera) in red color. Dual Camera is usually considered Pro eventhou it says nowhere Pro.
Using your link will relock my sim card or what do they mean by locked?
This phone came unlocked sim by xiaomi (stock).
Also will this relock my bootloader, which xiaomi unlocked for me after waiting 360 hours?

Just select flash_all.bat
You don't have to lock your bootloader but bootloader should be unlocked before flashing fastboot ROM
Check fastboot ROM file name, it should start with whyred (no matter whether you select Redmi Note 5 Pro or Redmi Note 5 global)

That's unusual, I always wipe vendor before flash a custom rom and don't have any issues.
Buet allways u can flash stock rom with TWRP or Fastboot and recover it.

I got mi suite installed, I got Mi Flash installed, adb and none can find my phone. WHen I turn on device it goes automatically into fastboot, maybe i can get into twrp but i cannot get into regular miui, I deinstalled all antivirus/firewall. I tried usb2 and usb3 ports on my pc.
PS C:\adb> adb start-server
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
PS C:\adb> adb devices
List of devices attached
I can get into twrp. Could I insert a sd card and add stock stable xiaomi rom for my phone and flash it thru twrp?
Would that delete twrp aswell and my unlocked bootloader?

Hi,
i could copy files to internal storage while twrp is running. Now can I fix my phone if i flash xiaomi stock rom in twrp?
will that lock bootloader? delete twrp? OR do I have to flash the fastboot version of stock xiaomi rom in twrp?

Flashing Recovery ROM from TWRP will not lock bootloader but twrp will be replaced by mi recovery to avoid this after flashing recovery ROM just flash twrp.img

I flashed stock xiaomi rom and twrp+lazyflasher. system runs again but i cannot install the rom i want.
"E2001: Failed to update Vendor image.
Updater process ended with error 7" after that i cannot boot anymore into system.
So i have to reflash stock rom while still in twrp, twrp and lazyflasher and i get into stock rom.

i think its related to my phone being the Global Version. I read it somewhere...

You can't flash twrp all you have to do is fastboot boot twrp.img and from twrp recovery once again you have to flash twrp.img

i meant flash twrp within twrp. sorry

try to download and flash any other costom rom. I usually wipe all except internal storage and sd card when flashing rom.

Why what would that do?

what rom you are using?. your rom might be corrupted. I used Aosp - Pie, los 15, bootlegger, AE, etc currently on MSM extended. I wipe vendor partition before flashing rom everytime.

Anti-Rollback but flash TWRP & LineageOS / Xiaomi.eu?

Hello all,
yesterday came my 4/64GB Whyred. I immediately unlocked the device (since I already had an authorized account) and flashed MIUI 10 8.7.12
Today, I started reading threads on xda, miui-forums, etc. and I found out, that there is that anti-rollback "feature".
I already have read a lot of threads, but just to make sure, I want to ask it here again:
If I want to flash twrp, is it going to work and if so, do I have do do some "special" steps or simply flash twrp via fastboot?
If I want to root the MIUI 8.7.12 via twrp, is it going to work?
If I want to flash LineageOS, is it going to work and do I have to pay attention to anything (such as flash something in addition to rom/gapps)?
If I want to flash Xiaomi.eu ROM, is it going to work and do I have to pay attention to anything (such as not flashing a version older than 8.7.12 from xiaomi.eu or flashing something in addition to rom?)
If I want to flash Global beta 8.7.12 or any newer version in the future, is it going to work and if so, would it be possible via twrp or I have to flash the fastboot rom via Miui-flasher?
Thanks in advance. :good:

1. It's possible to flash TWRP, but you'll need to boot TWRP first and install TWRP as image to flash it permanently.
2. I don't see why not?
3. If you're in MIUI, you'll only need to wipe cache, dalvik, system. Just don't format it. If you're in custom ROM beside MIUI, you'll need to flash MIUI back to encrypt data.
Precaution : Don't downgrade your current MIUI firmware and you should be fine.
4. Just to be safe, don't try to ever downgrade from your current firmware ver.
5. Why not? Though my method to install update is always reboot recovery after flashing full ROM to make sure my TWRP is still intact.

I don't have the Anti-Rollback update as running the MIUI 108.7.5 version of Xiaomi EU.
So if I update to the latest Xiaomi EU release will it enable the Anti-Rollback feature.
I'm I safe to flash a previous version from Xiaomi EU?

1. Following these steps? If so, after I boot to recovery via fastboot and flash recovery via recovery, do I have to do it every time I want to boot into recovery or just once?
Q9: How to flash custom recovery and custom ROMs on "Anti-Rollback" enabled devices?
A: On "Anti-Rollback" enabled ROMs you cann't flash custom recovery permanently. You'll have to boot into recovery first by running fastboot command:
Code:
fastboot boot xyz.img
(where xyz is name of your recovery file). Once you're booted into the custom recovery, copy the recovery image file in the internal storage and flash that recovery from recovery itself. Now you've successfully flashed custom recovery and you're good to go with custom ROMs. WARNING: Avoid flashing any firmware.
3. I dont understand why I have to flash MIUI back to encrypt data.
Does that mean, that if I'am using LineageOS for example and I want to clean flash newer version of LOS or RessurectionRemix or something, I have to flash MIUI first or what?
Or I can simply wipe system, data, chache, dalvik and flash newer version of LineageOS?
4. Does never firmware downgrade mean, just never install any older miui-Version than the version I'm using at the moment or I was using before I flashed the custom rom?

1. Yeah. follow that step. You only need to do it once.
3. I was assuming that you want to install Official Lineage OS, you had to reflash MIUI since official Lineage OS need your device to be in encrypted state. If you're going to flash another custom ROM beside lineage (for example : Resurrection Remix, Pixel Experience), you won't have to reflash MIUI, just wipe and install.
4. the last state before you flash custom ROM.

3. Does that mean, that I have to flash the "last-state MIUI version" I had installed?
I ask, because in the steps above for flashing twrp it says: WARNING: Avoid flashing any firmware.
If I flash MIUI, that would be a firmware I flashed, which I should'nt do or?
Also, do I have to boot MIUI too? Or just install, wipe again and flash LineageOS?

Flash MIUI firmware version (in your case, it's 8.7.12 or later). That warning was just for some noobs that don't bother to research first.
And no, just flash MIUI, wipe, and flash. At least for LineageOS, it is.

I already own a MIUI account and I unlocked my Redmi Note 4 already with that account.
So it seems that if you unlocked any xiaomi phone at least once, your account is authorized for unlock for every other xiaomi phone.

nice to meet you.
I ask how.
Global beta is 8.7.12
I have already rolled back the anti-rollback.
The current state is unlocked.
In this state, I want to go to Lineage.
But like this question, I want to know about the fear of anti-rollback and how to bypass it.
How can I install twrp? Can I get a detailed answer on how to install Lineage ROM?

Can Possible with Updater App Without Root?
is ur phone unlocked ?
if YES,
then
1) take backup (photos etc etc...)
2) flash TWRP (flashing just TWRP won't root your phone !)
3) download MIUI dev rom from here - https://en.miui.com/download-341.html
4) boot ur phone in TWRP recovery.
5) format phone using TWRP.
(better to format phone while switching between roms to avoid conflicts ! )
6) copy dev rom file to phone.
7) flash rom
8) reboot and njoy
OR
download Fastboot rom and Mi-Flash and flash the rom.

Stuck on MIUI pie latest beta!

Actually I flashed MIUI 10 pie beta yesterday and now because of battery drain issues and bugs I want to go to another ROM which is masik 3.3 which is based on Oreo.
I am not sure what to do.
Should I directly install masik 3.3 by doing clean flash over Miui Pie beta or should I first go to Developer/Stable Oreo based MIUI 10 ROM and then clean flash Masik 3.3?
What abour ARB/firmware?Thanks!
First oreo latest stabil miflash to flash. After install twrp and masik 3.3 clean flash
Second option (I did it already). Flash via Mi Flash latest stable.
The first option will soft brick your device.

To confirm I type adb devices in command prompt. List of devices attached is showing empty. After that i tried installing new updates drivers but nothing helped. I am on windows 10. Instead now I am flashing Pixel Experience and then after going to pixel experience, I will go to latest MIUI stable ROM available on Xiaomi website and then never go to Miui beta Pie update unless stable version comes. Too much headache. lol

I was tried to direct flash with TWRP and softbrick my whyred, but I figured out when I was done flash miui 8.1, I should flash Redwolf recovery which is capable to flash persist partition to fix some of bugs acquired from downgrade. Its work for me, first I tried direct flash to miui 10.2.2.0 and its boot fine, but when I reboot, It doesnt boot up and on my pc detected as 9008 (softbrick?). Then I flash pie twrp thru fastboot and booting to twrp, flash miui beta pie and let it booting,
Second try. Now im on miui pie again LOL. then I flash miui 10.2.2.0 thru TWRP, and flash redwolf recovery, then reboot to redwolf, then flash persist.img. then boot up fine and no bug.

I was on same problem as you, but I can flash thru mi flasher. At my second try (to make my phone in same condition as before I fix it), I flash oreo recovery without reboot the device after flashing miui oreo. And then flash the persist img thru advance-terminal and its work and no softbrick anymore.

Well I went to service centre and they flashed it. I am on Stable ROM now. I couldn't through my computer because it's not recognising adb devices but recognising fastboot devices. I can't boot into any recovery other then stock even through fastboot devices. You know why? I can't find any reasons for that.

You might do something wrong on miflash tool. Retry but I never used this
It's possible to flash global on cn if bootloader is unlocked.
BTW why not flashing orangefox twrp and flash miui with it ? Xiaomi.eu or any other modded miui ?

When you flashed global rom with tool you needed to choose option to only wipe data but you chose flash and lock hence stuck in EDL mode now. Need to have someone with permissions remove it but it take you to open back off phone and do test point. I did same thing as you guys and found a guy you got my phone back. It's an easy error to make and it's why phone will go to fastboot when try to boot. You needed to change option. Try unlock bootloader as if flash work it will boot then when bootloader unlocked
If your bootloader is still unlocked then check the version of global rom your flashing as need a fastboot version not recovery
have you solved your issue?

Hi there,
I encountered the same issue. I tried to flash some CN Rom without enough research, without knowing that you can't just flash an Android 10 rom from 9 directly by recovery (even TWRP). So I ended up Fastboot or TWRP but never able to boot into system. Fortunately I didn't flash my Max3 by fastboot rushly, so my phone was still unlocked.
This is how I solved it:
1. Download an official CN ROM (the below I used is MIUI 11 with Android 9.9.x);
I can't post link here but search "miui通过线刷升级" - you shall see a miui.com link ending with shuaji-393.html. That's the page I download the Mi Max3 ROM from.
2. Use MiFlash to flash the official ROM with the flash option "clean all", NOT "clean All and lock";
3. The phone shall reboot into system, give it 5-10 minutes;
4. Flash the miui.eu ROM you like (DO make sure it is Android 9 tho) by recovery (tutorial given under every official xiaomi.eu ROM download).
Again it's easy to search
It took me less than an hour to do it (I don't have much experience with new XiaoMi phone). So don't worry about bricking your phone forever.
Hope it helps to destress

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T - Official MIUI 11 update not available via OTA yet, how flash?

Hi,
I'm using the following version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T (willow):
- Model number: Redmi Note 8T
- Android version: 9 PKQ1.190616.001
- MIUI version: MIUI Global 10.3.1 | Stable 10.3.1.0(PCXEUVF)
- Model name: M1908C3XG
So it's still the official MIUI 10 stock ROM,
the only thing I've changed is that I switched from stock to custom recovery TWRP (https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomiredminote8.html) and installed a GCam mod (https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8/themes/best-gcam-mod-redmi-note-8-t3970675).
If I press the button to check for OTA updates within MIUI it still says no updates available.
However, according to this thread it's possible to download and flash the update to MIUI 11 manually:
https://www.xda-developers.com/download-miui-11-xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro-poco-f1/
1.) Is my understanding correct that based on my current MIUI 10 ROM,
I have to download and flash the "V11.0.1.0.PCXMIXM (Global)" one from those versions mentioned below?:
43. Redmi Note 8T (willow):
- V11.0.2.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.1.0.PCXMIXM (Global) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.1.0.PCXRUXM (Russia) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
2.) Is my understanding correct that this MIUI 11 ROM could be flashed without loosing the existing data (apps, pictures,...)?
If yes, what would whould be the best approach (via "Recovery ROM" or "Fastboot ROM" method),
and what do I have to select in TWRP for example so that my data doesn't get wiped during the flash?
3.) Once I've flashed this MIUI 11 ROM will it get regular updates via OTA,
or is it a kind of beta version?
Thanks and best regards

judging by the present miui version in your device it's PCXEUVF so you have a european version. You can download the latest recovery rom from here. MIUI 11 EU version will be PCXEUXM. You can flash this rom from twrp. But looking at your post seems like you haven't flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot), you might end up with stock recovery which is a good thing. If you end up with stock recovery then you can just put this recovery rom in a folder named "downloaded_rom" (without quotes) in internal storage and update with updater app and your data won't be lost.
In case you want to flash some other version rom like global(PCXMIXM) or russian(PCXRUXM) then you have to download fastboot rom and mi flash from here and flash it with mi flash which will erase your data so make sure you backup your data before flashing.
Hi,
thank you very much for your reply!
Okay, so as it seems like I'm having a EU version,
based on my understanding I have to select the following MIUI 11 ROM, right?:
V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
Most likely I've already flashed something like "dm-verity" zip ("flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot'),
because I've restarted the Redmi Note 8T several times and TWRP recovery is still available.
So what do I have to select within TWRP to flash this MIUI 11 ROM without loosing the existing data (apps, pictures,...)?
Thanks and best regards

Yes you have to select the miui 11 rom PCEUXM recovery rom if yo want to flash with twrp.
Now comes the part where you have to consider a few things.
So dm-verity and forceencrypt are different things. Sometimes both features are included in a single zip file. So if your device is decrypted you'll have to go through a lot of troubles. Search for encryption in Phone settings search bar and check if your device is encrypted or not. If your device is encrypted just flash the rom through twrp and everything will work just fine.
However if your device is decrypted then you'll face bootloop into twrp every time you dirty flash/update miui stock. To solve this do any of the following :
1. Flash stock rom though twrp as you do but after that you need to format data or else your phone won't boot.[but all your data will be lost so back it up first]
2. Flash stock mi recovery and then update through updater app.
3. Flash another recovery like orangefox which provides ability to flash miui OTA without any issues. Here's a guide for you how to flash miui using orangefox.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
thank you very much for your reply!
Okay, I've ensured that my Redmi Note 8T shows the status encrypted within the settings first.
Then I've downloaded the "V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM" ROM from the link mentioned below (http://c.mi.com/in/miuidownload/detail?device=1900375).
I then tried to boot into TWRP recovery, but Redmi-Recovery 3.0 appeared instead.
So it seems like I haven't installed the fix which avoids TWRP recovery to be replaced by the default recovery after a reboot.
So I've just rebooted into MIUI and flashed the downloaded ZIP file of the "V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM" ROM like decribed below:
"But looking at your post seems like you haven't flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot), you might end up with stock recovery which is a good thing. If you end up with stock recovery then you can just put this recovery rom in a folder named "downloaded_rom" (without quotes) in internal storage and update with updater app and your data won't be lost."
However, initially this was not working so I had to do the following additional steps (https://www.gizchina.com/2019/10/23/how-to-download-and-install-miui-11-if-it-has-not-yet-arrived/):
"Then, we go again to the ‘About this phone’ section.
And in ‘System update’ we press a few times on the logo until a small temporary warning appears.
Then, click on the three-point menu and choose ‘Select update package’.
We look for the ‘Downloaded_rom’ folder and select the ROM that we have previously downloaded."
(Note: I had to re-install the app Mi File Manager first in order for this to work!).
However, I'm getting the following error message:
"Couldn't verify.
Looks like current ROM's network carrier type is different from that in the Recovery package.
Please download the correct ROM from MIUI forum."
I did a quick research and it seems like my Redmi Note 8T device contains a strange Vodafone branded ROM ("VF" = Vodafone ):
- Anyone with the Vodafone Custom ROM still getting updates ? (REDMI NOTE 8T) [10.3.0.1/PCXEUVF] - Xiaomi:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/com...one_custom_rom_still_getting/?sort=confidence
- Redmi Note 8T w NFC - Redmi Note 8/Pro/8T - Mi Community - Xiaomi:
https://c.mi.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2576031&aid=4944161&from=album&page=1
If I remember correctly I was also wondering why it contains a pre-installed Vodafone app when uninstalling apps/de-bloating the ROM.
Thanks and best regards

Did some searching and found out that you have a vodafone rom that's why there's VF in the end and not XM. I suggest you to switch to XM one using fastboot method via mi flash. After that you'll receive updates as soon as they're released by xiaomi.

Okay, will try to do this.
But this means I will loose the existing data (apps, pictures,...), right?
I hope it will still support B28 after changing from the PCXEUVF to the PCXEUXM ROM?
Thanks and best regards

Yes unfortunately you will lose existing data. Backup all your data before flashing fastboot rom via mi flash. After flashing everything will work just fine
