I just bought the Mi Max 3 with China Rom MIUI 9.6 | Stable 9.6.9.0 and want to flash twrp, the latest EU MIUI 10 STABLE RELEASE and root it with magisk.
Is this safe or will i brick my phone? I know that rollback protection is activated but does it matter?

The change to beta is easy. Just download the correct form and install through updater.
The beta is not any good . Switch to custom roms based on Pie.

Unlock bootloader and use xiaomi tool, its almost idiot-proof utility. Select fastboot flash method, flash in recovery didn't provide full conversion to global.

I'am still on MIUI 12.5 the way it came delivered.
Use stock miui12 rom with mi flash for no risk, mi flash errors can be fix easily....search google for accurate resuls
Then flash your desired custom Rom
