Newpower 99 battery... Opinions - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, is this battery the best and highest quality for our tablet?
What are your experiences ... lasts the same as the official when it is new or it is a minor battery?
In Amazon it costs 67 euros, it's a lot of money but maybe it's a good investment. Can you please help me?
Regards

i personally would not go for 99power, i heard it's hit and miss plus it not true 4900 milliamp battery they supply.. You got two options option 1) Get a power bank i picked up a Belkin 15000 milliamp power bank easy 2 full chargers for Tab S 8.4 it’s a bit pricey tough, you can get a Anker PowerCore 20100 more capacity for less price..
2nd options is look on eBay get a smashed Tab S 8.4, ask seller how old it is. Also how much use. You might get lucky as some user are real light user rip the battery out and install it.. That’s how i would go about it getting a battery for the Tab S 8.4. Never would I purchase third party garbage no offence TO ANYONE as my Tab S 8.4 SM-T705 is over 4 years old. I’ve got over 3500 chargers dischargers if I wasn’t a heavy user it would easily stay on standby for 3+ days easy. But since I use for everything for example movies YouTube background playback while web browsing Bluetooth music streaming browsing ebaying amazon etc. battery last about 3 to 4 hours.
No third party battery would last over 3 hours 4 years down the road that’s a fact mate these Samsung apple Sony spend millions on r&d that’s why they am so good! Anyway that's my two cent!

Thanks for answering so widely.
What do you think of these consumptions with these uses
Youtube from 100% to 0% manual brightness 50% = 5 hours screen
Movies downloaded using Mx Player from 100% to 0% = 9.30 hours screen
100% to 0% using Netflix = 8 hours of screen
Off line movies 10% x hour
Netflix 12% x hour and Youtube 20% x hour
With a mixed use I get between 6 and 7 hours of screen.
What surprises me the most is how much Youtube consumes at the rate of that 20% x hour .... It may not be necessary to change the battery but as I am the new owner, I do not know if these consumptions are good or not ...

Are you rooted? Mate your stats I’m reading you have a brilliant battery. i can remember when i had it first I’ve was getting 12+ ish hours YouTube manual brightness 30% but you have to factor in network conditions as 4G LTE use much more power than HSDPA+ plus I don’t use Wi-Fi.
I have unlimited data plan, so i couldn’t tell you Wi-Fi playback times, ive never used Wi-Fi since I purchased it. Been pure mobile network, I do believe Wi-Fi will give you more battery time if you put in flight mode and just turn on Wi-Fi. My network is awesome 70+ meg download 40+ upload if in the right spot..
Mate your battery is fine easy good few years before you see some real battery drops but that’s if you’re a super heavy user moderate use easy 3+ years before serious battery drops like me..
I can remember YouTube background playing all night sometime screen would stay on other times off I can remember if I hadn’t slept for good few days I catch up with my sleep YouTube would be playing all night 13+ hour straight I would wake up still have around 20+ percent battery left of a single charge..
If you’re rooted you can check discharges and charges via PHONE INFO App play store android robot green colour he is that’s the icon for the app.

I'm not root and the tablet is second-hand. He has 2 and a half long years, that's what his previous owner told me. I think it really is 3 years ... The use that gave that person was YouTube and some series or movie and did not use it every day, hence it is still a consistent battery.
The other day I was watching 2 movies and a chapter of netflix off line, total 5 hours of screen at 50% ... This left me astonished and especially the little expense of mx player, 10% every 1h 5 m. I remember that a movie consumed me 20% x 2 hours 15 minutes, very well. What I do not understand is the reason why YouTube consumes so much, 20% an hour. I use Youtube vanced, og Youtube and the 2 consume the same, the official also but I have it frozen. Yesterday
I installed disable package pro and I have 150 frozen apps, all of Samsung dead ... Use nova launcher and few apps, about 30 as much. I also use greenify to sleep apps outside the playstore that I prefer not to run in 2 plane, typical of series, sports and so on. At rest my deep sleep is perfect, 99% in airplane mode and with 97% wifi, also excellent and does not consume more than 2% every 24 hours of sleep. I have read a lot about the consumption of this fantastic tablet and the truth is that I am very happy if I use it for multimedia, but if you use social networks and so on, the battery goes down very fast, I guess it is due to lack of software optimization, none of the games. A great improvement and I've finally stopped having restarts or flashes on the screen using high performance mode, saving mode all right but the tablet had lag with the savings ... It has been freezing all that from Samsung and goodbye to the restarts so annoying .... Do you know that every time I opened YouTube the tablet was meeting and the screen was blinking? I think many say that it is a bad battery but in my situation it has been a software issue ... hmmm touchwiz is a burden! ...
Then I think I'm going to stay still with the theme of the battery and according to what you have explained to me I can be very calm and happy because to watch movies off line and series of netflix or amazon video gives me many hours and that is the main reason for my purchase, its fantastic amoled screen falls in love. I had a Huawei M3 but its ips screen to see dark media of the style terror, intrigue and so on was somewhat poor compared to the amoled ... I also want to emphasize that I use a mod version of netflix since the officer consumes me a lot, double to chapter and the same with Amazon video, I use an app from 2 years ago, the latest version consumes 25% at screen time, crazy ... Then the issue is clear, install apps from the marshmallow era, consume less and are adapted for android 6. Then you think my battery is still good today?
PS
To put twrp is easy. How, through Odin? I would like to have the possibility if I ever need a higher version of MM, I think there is an Oreo rom ... The idea is to have twrp without root to leave it like that but to be able to flash in the future

That's what I did to save my T800. The parts for the T800, like the mainboard, were _ridiculously_ expensive, but then I found another one with a broken screen on ebay for the price of a mainboard, and it served as a donor for the mainboard, battery, and other parts. We'll see how long the donor battery lasts..

That`s the first app i tried.
I cannot see battery cycle count under usage history, it only shows headset connector count and charger connector count and i am rooted and i have granted all permissions it has asked for.
According to the app download page on google play the details below should show but they all dont.
▪ USAGE HISTORY:
- Headset Connect Counter
- Charger Connect Counter
- S Pen Detach Counter - MISSING
- Battery Discharge Cycles - MISSING
- Battery Health - MISSING

I am on the stock Samsung MM 6.0.1
I did a reboot, but i still cannot find "battery cycle count" as i said in my last post, it`s missing.
Thanks anyway.

Hi guys,
I bought this Newpower99 battery and I must admit that it is a very good battery.
In my first load cycle using the tablet to watch Youtube, online series, Netflix, Amazon video and surfing with very good brightness to enjoy this magnificent screen amoled, I got 8 hours of screen with 22% still battery. I am very happy with this duration and also say that the blinks and restarts have disappeared. Without a doubt it is an excellent battery, despite costing 50 euros is still a smart purchase. The others that are for sale in EBay cheaper, do not deserve any investment
This is what I can tell you today, later with the passage of the months, I will give more information.

Yes, that seems. Today I take 1h.55 minutes of screen to 88% watching 2 episodes of netflix off line .... awesome!!!

Wow, this is very nice!

You can lower your brightness if it is not already at the lowest setting.
Unfortunately, the galaxy nexus has poor battery life. You could also try turning off data when you don't need it.

the screen is at lowest and it doesnt make sense turning of data if the problem is from screen right?
I'm having the exact same issue. Screen is totally eating up my battery life. It took 30 minutes for the battery to go down by like 10%. And the screen is 40% of the battery life issue.

Maybe I just don't use the screen as much as you, but I don't find this to be true for me. I find it has great battery life. I don't sit for hours with the screen on, but I do regularly text and check emails throughout the day, do a bit of web browsing, take some calls, and play some Angry Birds or other games in the evening. The screen is always at the top of the list for battery usage, but even on an extreme day I still have more than 30% battery left by the time I go to bed. I throw it on the charger and I'm ready to go again in the morning.
I disagree that the Galaxy Nexus has poor battery life, in general. I would argue that: all high-end phones have "poor" battery life because of all the things they do (especially 720p screens), your personal use of it consumes a lot of power and you could benefit from an extended battery, or you have a faulty device.
hi there, i do that exact same things with no games, so less usage but i get less than a day... i love the phone but the batery is just no working...
I don't understand why people don't get that when you have a screen that is 4.65'' it will destroy the battery life. My screen use is always at 60% or more but yet I still get good battery life. The screen is going to use the majority of your battery when compared to other things, that's just how it is.
sorry but thats not the point, when you pay 700 for a top phone, that is suposed to be the google experience to carry arround wiith you and you can only get 10 hours of battery time something went wrong in the process...
Most phones are $600 to $700, and name one 4g phone that will last more than 10 hours with moderate use and no extended battery, just not going to happen. You need to reset your expectations.
GN battery is giving lots of trouble, too. I picked up the phone from charge and it was 100% charged. ! hour of usage with 3g on. Usage includes 1 hours or music and reading of pdf books simultaniously and battery is dropped to 61%.

I think you should take a look at every other android phone that has come out with the same specs in the last year. Everything from the EVO 3d to the thunderbolt have their default battery's not last more than around 6-8 hours with constant use because of the screen & processors.
THis is why Verizon offered the extended batteries at a discounted rate right off the bat, because default batteries have never ever lasted that long in topof the line smartphones. FFS the new iphone 4s I've heard from a friend that their phones don't even last 24 hours.
I have a galaxy nexus, and mine has lasted... let me see.. one sec...1 day 3 hours and 25sec's with 35% left. (of course I have the extended battery) but here's the kicker: the extended battery has basically the same back as the regular phone does. so if they so desired, verizon could technically put out another extended battery just like all the rest of the phones, but they might not do that. I'm content with the battery life as it is almost identical as the droid X from which I came. The only difference is since I have a lot of un-updated apps for ice cream sandwich one of them is using "mediaserver" A LOT. I'm talking about that being the top of my battery draining with the screen being second. They both have taken ~20% with android OS itself taking 13, PlayerPro taking 13, and other random things like calls and txt msging taking ~10% each.
So I would suggest not trying to watch a lot of stuff on your phone while on battery, or don't expect your battery to survive long while watching stuff on that great screen
hymn thanks for the feedback so the only solution I see would be to go for a bigger battery. I'm from Portugal were could I buy one and whays the power?

If your screen usage is less than 50%, it be more worried about what else is killing your battery........

Unaceptable battery life, tried everything... defective product?

Im seriously considering returning this item. I just bough the moto 360 yesterday and im getting unaceptable battery life. I see people on this forum able to use the watch for a full day and it still got battery while mine is struggling to run for 6 hours straight. Right now my watch has been running for 4 hours and a half and its down to 44%. I have tried every troubleshoot,I have resetted my watch 4 times now,I have cleared the cache of my application and reinstalled the whole thing. I even tried running it without any application installed, completely stock and my battery is still draining like crazy.
Im not using it that much. Right now I have insta weather installed, skymaster skin and wear battery stats and thats about it. I love this watch but i cant deal with this kind of ****. I consider myself pretty good with hardware and new accesories, and I cant believe how much time ive wasted trying to make this thing worked. Is there something to do really?
Try to use for is purpose for notifications if you bought yesterday and do all that things how are you going yo know which is is battery life with a normal use ?
The panel is who use al the battery , if u use ir forma notification you would get a day battery like a phone if you use youre phone for 4 hours you would drain your battery is battery life of your phone of 4 hours ? NO.

I have some difficulty understanding , but from what I can see you are telling me im using my watch to much? this is not the case. I just got back from work, and in 3 hours of work I lost about 30% of battery. this mean that my watch would be dead after 10 hours of small to none-use of my watch. I always see people talk about how theirs can last 18-24hours on average usage, are these people simply lying?
What do you have install ?

Yea well, I still have 12 days left to try it and see if it gets better, If not im gonna have to return this watch. I need at least 10 hours.. I mean comon this is ridiculous getting 5 to 8 hours per charge.. Im doing 20 hours of heavy usage on my LG g3 right now so the watch would die on me 3 to 4 time by the time my phone die... this is ridiculous
That Skyweather app is incredibly poorly written and eating your battery like crazy! It looks like it's causing wakelocks! UNINSTALL IT! NOW! And don't put it back on your watch, ever!
And you never mentioned what screen settings you are using which can be a huge culprit for battery drain! If you care about battery life:
Do NOT use Ambient Mode!
Do NOT use Auto Brightness!
Set your watch on the lowest #1 brightness and leave it alone. Stop fiddling with it. Stop turning on the screen! I see a LOT of on-screen time! I know it's new and all but it's not a toy.
It's supposed to be for quick glances, not a replacement for your smartphone!
Put the watch into THEATER mode if you find your wrist movements are waking it up far too much and eating battery. Be smart.
Also, YES, fully charge and then fully drain the watch for several days to a week. (Bring your charger to work for this part.)
I did this and my battery is excellent. It worked for me so give it a try.

One more tip that works well when you don't need to use your watch at night power it down and back on when you wake up and if you don't need notifications from your watch put it in aeroplane mode that turns bluetooth off big drainer when you need it take it out of aeroplane mode I get nearly 3 days use like this.

Just be aware that theater mode seems to turn off vibrations.
"...If you care about battery life:"? It's good advice, however do you hear yourself? What you are basically saying is "don't use the features, shut it all down and use it only to look at the time (ahem, just get $35 timex if that is the case). That's kinda nuts for a product that is targeted to the general consumer. Motorola (or Lenovo or Google?) have a marginal product here at best. Thats bad because the smartwatch has been with us now for a number of years, the battery should be a lot better - especially at this fairly high price point. How many people have returned the 360 after a few days because the battery life is crap in real world use? I'm going to bet many did, unless they are like us tinkerers, programmers and devs here... Nobody and I mean nobody is going to know to do the the things you have outlined to "save" the battery. Consumers are just going to use it, show it off and load whatever is available on the app store..
I've said it before on these forums and I say it again... We are paying to beta test this watch for Motorola. The battery life is horrific and Motorola know it. It is a "toy" admittedly a cool one at that. But frankly... All of us 1st gen owners who are sticking it out should be getting coupons for a deep discount on gen 2.

Umm, did you notice that you're in the Motorola Moto 360 forum?
same here i bought it tried to learn or play with the watch all day not all day few hour after it died but i didn't thought it was watch defective or w/e. its my own fault because i turned it on non-stop. i give it a normal usage a day after i bought it pretty much live to 20% on 9 hour on few times changing face theme and showing off to friends lol,, i think this watch will last 15hrs max on any heavy usage. those who said 1 or 2 day they're definitely lying or encouraging people to buy the watch or can be Motorola's hired scum bags
Guys, I am constantly getting at least 40 percent left at the end of my 12 hours day.
Using it for notifications only, as intended, plus some weather checking and replies by voice to incoming messages.
Ambient OFF
Auto brightness ON

While that post is pretty much in need of a complete rewrite, I will agree that I have no idea who these people are that are getting 2 days out of there watch on a single charge. I End the day at about 30% which is great, but it would be practically dead by morning if I wouldn't charge it over night.
I use InstaWeather and have no issues on battery life. Have you updated to the latest firmware? I can easily get a full day with plenty of battery life left at the end of the day. I'd return it for a different one. You may have issues. After the first update to 4.4, battery life for everyone went up dramatically.

Battery drain

Hi, so basically I wanted to know how fact peoples' battery drains depending on the app. My brightness is on 50% with adjustment off. When I am using twitter it goes down by 1% in about 10-12minutes. But when I use Facebook or LectureNotes (main worry) its about 4 or 5 % per minute. Could someone do a test using these app and compare? All the things like GPS, blutetooth are off, wifi always on.
@kamilsss: You can see battery usage in the `battery´ section of your device's system settings.
I know you can, my concern is that my battery seems to be draining a little bit quicker than it should be when I compare it to others' notes

Clash of Clans is a battery destroyer, no matter what device.
I bought my tablet 1 month after release. It's now 1.5 years old. I wonder if we are starting to near that magical point where Li-ion batteries start to lose capacity due to age?

I got mine about then also and just replaced the battery, it lasts alot longer now. I charged mine over 900 times. The only reason I know cause of a app that keeps count of how many times the battery is charged, the spen is taken out and headphones plugged in plus some other things. I went for a little bit expensive battery but totally worth it. I don't even have to charge the battery everyday like I had to before replacing it.

it was pretty easy. I did have to open it 2 more times to get it right but it was my fault. The first time a cable was loose and second time I didn't pop the power button in right so I couldn't turn off. Its all good now and definitely worth buying. It was a bit expensive but I didn't want a chance of getting a bootleg cheap one. I got it from new power 99. It came with all the tools and instructions on a DVD but I used you tube.
How much was it? I am thinking about changing my battery as well

Around 65 dollars. I got from new power 99 and they have a guarantee for 1 year. I saw other samsung ones for alot cheaper but they come from china and I didn't want to get a bootleg one. I went with one a little more money and it was worth it.

[Q] Dead end with Samsung can I have your feedback please

TLR Anyone willing to see if their tab pro drains battery when fully powered off. Like overnight when you're sleeping or at work. Thanks
Hi,
I got a 10.1 tabpro back at the end of Jan. I thought it would be a massive step up from my Nook HD+ (rooted) but it's not. Not only is it slower than expected the battery life is atrocious. Samsung advertises over 2500 standby hours for their 10.1 tablet, I get 200. Also I get about 6 hour video, mp4 files, not 10 and I don't like a bright screen, I know companies exaggerate but this is daft. But it's the standby that's a problem, having to charge it every few days in case I want to use it is a big step down from my Nook.
It's been into Samsung repair 4 times now and I'm currently at a dead end.
Problem
It loses 0.5% an hour on standby even with wifi, gps, updates off etc
It loses 0.5% an hour fully powered off. Fully powered down. OFF, not on standby. Just to be clear
Compare this to my nook with a smaller battery capacity which loses less than 1% a day. I've tried turning off other android devices (mobiles & tablets) and none lose battery over 12 or 24 hours when powered off.
Current situation
It's been in 4 times, it has been returned with a squeaky corner which they've failed to repair and the retail box is torn and tatty like they played football with it.
I've now been told
I have spoken to our product specialist regarding this and the decline in battery life over the 24 hour period is not considered to be unusual. In the 12 hour period where the tablet was powered on, even though the screen is off and apps closed down the tablet will still be transmitting, searching for system updates or connecting to networks or wireless. The 12% decline in battery is considered normal for this kind of activity.

This doesn't address that wifi, gps, updates etc is turned off and drain whilst it's powered off. I responded 2 weeks ago but there has been no reply.
Feedback please
1. I've been all over the internet. I've tried greenify, I've tried battery calibration, there's a ridiculous amount of bloatware that I can't delete but I've reduced apps running as much as I can. Does anyone have any other ideas?
2. What's your tablet like, does it lose battery life when powered off? I've seen people posting on here about their 8.4 inch tabpro and they've put screen shots showing better standby battery life than my 10.1 with a much better battery capacity.
I've attached some screen shots, less than 3 days and it lost 33% doing nothing on standby.
I would really appreciate if anyone could feedback on battery life when switched off, is someone able to test theirs for me?
Many thanks,
Anna
Is someone willing to see if their tab pro loses battery even when powered off?
Thanks
Uh-oh. I hope this is unusual and anomalous. I'm actively seeking a replacement for my HD+. I want to love it. I *SO* want to love it but it infuriates me that the browser crashes so often. Yours? Which ROM?
Nook is fine, It's the Samsung that's utter pants. Nook battery loses less than 1% a day on standby and screen is good. Surprisingly I thought the octo core samsung wouldn't be laggy but it is, it's not that much better than the Nook.
I have cyanogenmod 11 I think. Yes the browser crashes but that's partly because many sites are badly designed and web 2.0 is badly implemented and I use Dolphin because I like the format however it's a terrible browser for crashing. The new Guardian site I struggle with on tablets and mobiles no matter what browser for example.
Anyone willing to test their tabpro for me????
I'm actually on my 3rd day with my 8.4 it's 10:35 pm and I still have 35% left

I don't understand. 3rd day of what, off, on standby, has it been used?
Mine loses battery at 0..5% an hour on standby and fully powered off. I'm trying to establish if other tab pro's have the same level of drain on standby and powered off. Can you give me more info please? Thanks

Take the rear cover off, disconnect the battery from its connector. Bring it to a repair shop where they can do a solder work. Ask them to re solder the battery connector, this rework only takes under 5 minutes. It will fix the problem of battery quick discharge. If the problem is still the same, you only need to replace the battery, cost only around $30 for new battery.

Thanks but it was only a few months old so well within warranty.
They replaced it with an tab s 10.5 (no more tabpro's available). Tab s gives me the battery life I expect and speed. Big difference between the two is the tabpro used up a lot of battery with 'tablet idle', well over 50% whereas on the tab s it's a few %. I think the tabpro didn't quite deliver, it was discounted quickly, the software wasn't right plus squeaky case, but so far imo they seem to have got it right with the tab s. Despite the lower capacity battery and bigger screen it lasted me over 5 days and that included setting up and installing apps. The tabpro by that point would have been long dead.
I'm glad you get a new replacement but this's a common problem of Samsung tablets . Be aware of this problem is the future of battery quick discharge. Most users just simply think this is a problem of battery.

Battery life dreadful.

Why is the battery life so dreadful on Watch Active?
What is going on under the hood to wipe out a full charge in just over 24 hours. Don't tell me its notification, or HR, or WiFi or Bluetooth or location 'cos they are all off. I don't use Pay or Bixby or any 3rd party applications just the basic watch. So is this normal? Do Samsung put cheap rubbish batteries in their watches?
Surely you folks out there don't regard this as normal or acceptable?
My previous watch (and current) is from Huami Amazfit, a Verge Lite. Yes it is very basic, but it does the basics very well and with a battery life of at least 40 days. Plus it costs less than half of what I paid for the Active.
Value for money? Sorry Samsung you lose big time!

Did you try to reset your watch? Often that helps with this kind of issues after an update.
In the Galaxy Wearable app, what is indicated as the top battery consumer?
Sorry to hear about your issues. I have every single feature turned on except always-on display and I get three days.

Strange, I have Auto-HR every 10 minute, Auto-Wifi, Bluetooth, Location, brightness on level 6, strong vibration on all notifications on all 150 apps installed on phone.
And my watch lasts 4 full days, on every charge since I got it a year ago.
My record is 5 full days, but then I had to lower brightness.
Make a factory reset on the watch asap. The battery life of my gwa2 is EXCELLENT, constant hrm and my battery always lasts for 3-4 days.
I had the same problem with you just a two days after I bought the watch, for some reason one morning the watch started draining the battery like crazy. I made a factory reset and everything is great ever since.
Actually I believe that the battery life on this watch is one of the best out there (except huawei watches that last a lofetime[emoji1787]) I always go wknd trips and I don't even take my charger with me..

Mine goes well too, around 3 days with location always on, Bluetooth, WiFi on auto, brightness to minimum with auto brightness, and the most informative embedded face watch and constant HR and stress level. But I'm using sleep for android which is quite hard on the battery too.
Speaking of which, I can't configure it for BLE, it doesn't detect the watch, but only the standard Bluetooth.

Not best out there by miles!
My Amazfit Stratos typically lasts 25 to 30 days (daytime wear only) and my Amazfit Verge Lite (my 24/7) will easily go 40+ days and nights even with continuous HR. I'm staggered you folks think 2-3 days is good. Think about it, after 500 recharges your battery starts to fade - about 15 months for Samsung. You're paying extra big bucks for a very limited device life, thats great for Samsung to keep emptying your pocket!
