Disable Immersive (fullscreen) mode - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Hi, Iam looking for any app, xposed module, flashable mod or what ever works that will disable immersive mode in app. Most apps are grayed out in setting > display > full screen and Iam not able to change their settings. I like infinity screen but this feature is anyoing as HELL. Thank you

Not sure I completely understand what you want, you like full screen but want to disable it?

lol No, I'm talking about the shadow at the bottom not the icons. I guess the screenshot isn't showing my issue off very well.
To see the shadowing one must turn the brightness to the max. I don't know how to get rid of it. I know I don't have it but I am in Nougat. And not so many icons can be presented at once.

Screenshot does show it quite well, I see what you mean. I guess it may look different on different screens ... and eyes [emoji14]
That said, I don't know how to fix it. Maybe try looking at some Xposed modules (you are running Marshmallow, right?)

Preventing Navigation Bar Burn In (No Root, ADB needed only)

Hi all, many people complain about a burn in. With my phone 6 months in and no burn in, I'd like to suggest a tip with no need of root
1) Install Navbar Apps
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.damianpiwowarski.navbarapps
2) Enter app and enable Active App option, which changes the Navbar color according to the app.
3) Install Custom Navigation Bar
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.paphonb.systemuituner
4) Enter app and go to Navigation Bar> Experimental Tweaks. (OPTIONAL: Make a new Profile with these settings for easy switching like I do. One custom profile and one stock profile)
There, change each button to keycode, and select the right keycode.
5) Choose the correct Icon, or non at all. I downloaded a transparent dot icons and use it for all 3, looks best to me. Look at screenshot.
Done!
Optional: Add Google Assistant key with Custom Navigation Bar or make a quick setting shortcut with this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.leedroid.shortcutter
Screenshots Attached.
Transparent Dot I use: https://goo.gl/photos/JUHiZbM1jsgcusY8A

I'm sorry, I didn't understand.
You don't want a colored bar? You want it totally transparent?
The app won't let me go past this step. So do I have to be rooted?

Did you do the instructions on the screen? If so, A button will appear in the Navbar.
Nice, thanks for the guide!

Can't swipe/eliminate notifications when in lock screen

I am in 4.7.6 stock and using xposed with gravitybox. I haven't found any option in settings or gravitybox which allows me to swipe to eliminate the notification in the lock screen.
OxygenOS does this by default. Simply swipe to the left or to the right and you see a bright grey background with a settings icon until the notification is wiped from the screen.
Doesn't this work for you?

If I do that it appears a settings icon, after a while the settings icon disappears again but the notification stays.
Anyhow, do you know any way to just swipe to eliminate the notification? (maybe in settings menu, gravitybox or any xposed mod) Many thanks :good:
That's not a normal behaviour. If you swipe enough, it should remove it. Did you try disabling GravityBox and checking whether it's working?
I can confirm this bug (or a feature I don't know).
No matter how far I swipe, it doesn't swipe away. Just the settings icon appears.
Really annoying.

Mine is not rooted, I don't have any gravitybox or other third party stuff.
Just out of the box with usual apps (fb, instagram etc.).
And I can't swipe away swipe away notifications in lock screen.
up
Looks like it has something to do with "Hide sensitive information" in the lockscreen settings. @polema please test without "Hide sensitive information".
Could do that myself.. but I don't have 5T with me today.
Here's how it looks in my case:

Yeah, you're absolutely right, I had the same problem that in the video and after I uncheck the "hide sensitive information" I was able to swap to delete the notification.
The thing is that I'd like to have the content of the notifications hidden and at the same time be able to swap to delete them.
I'm having the same issue on my OP 5T OxygenOS 9.0.3. When trying to dismiss notification from the locksckreen, settings icon appears and notification is not swiped out. It usually takes 3-4 tryes to do the job. Very annoying
p.s. 'Hide sensitive data' checkbox is turned off

What good is the huge screen if you can't use it all?

Hi Guys,
Just moved over from a Xiaomi Mi Max 3. I'm certainly not a notch guy on phones, but it's hard to ignore a 7.2 inch screen.
I have disabled the button navigation at the bottom of the screen to maximize screen real estate, but what I notice is that pretty much every app I run wont use the space beside the camera notch. It will either go "full screen" and leave the time, date, battery etc up there, or it will black all that stuff out. In both cases the apps don't actually use any other that space up there. Google Maps for example, it runs "Full Screen" and the time and date stuff is blacked out but the app wont actually use that space. If you're not using the space for the app why not leave the normal stuff up there?
I'm not sure if this is a limitation of the apps, or the UI itself? With video apps like you tube you can zoom out to take advantage of the extra space, but most app like Chrome don't use any of this space.
I'm scratching my head on this one as maybe this is how things are on "notch" phones?
Hey
Do you have some screenshots of both cases ? i'm not sure i understand you properly. I'm planning to buy the phone but i was expecting a way to force full screen apps normally like on samsung without this kind of issues.

I think i always want to see the bar for my messages , time, battery, and signal ,, it doesn't show in videos so that's fine i think most phone always show the top bar that's what it's there for

Right, but that's the problem. Fire up Google Maps and turn the phone in landscape mode and that notification bar goes completely black. It's not being used "full screen" by google maps, it just becomes dead space not used for google maps or the notification bar.... You tube can be expanded to use this space. So I think maybe there needs to be an "expand" settings that makes all apps use this by default. Even with YouTube you have to do the expand every time...
Ah ok i see, On my phone it's turning transparent dark grey on google map for the notification bar. I agree it would be annoying if it's turning completely black even for screen burning.

Yup, Wasted space... We need to be able to use all the screen
I don't have mate 20 x yet. But with my previous phones I used to use app called gmd full screen immersive mode. To hide the top and navigation bars to use the whole screen.

I think it's because alot of apps don't support this aspect ratio.
You can try on the display setting of the notch. Choose "show notch" on the app that you want to run fullscreen

Question Full screen apps arghhhhh

Got the phone on Wednesday coming from a pixel 5. Must say what a great phone it is camera could be better but I'm sure with a few updates it will shine. Display and build quality spot on. One thing that does annoy me the most is the inability to force apps into full screen. Unless I'm missing something is there a way to force apps to full screen?
There's a way to remove the nav bar, but am too looking everywhere to hide the status bar. With Nova you can hide the status bar on the homescreen though.
