What Viper 4 Android on S9+ - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Hello
I have 965F mobile phone with magisk and Lightrom innstalled.
Can somebody point me in the direction of an working Viper 4 Android.
Im using my room with permissive Flashkernel.
I have tried some of the options in Magisk but they are either not working, or doing something strange with the enforcing/permissive settings making titanium backup not working as it should, and it also makes the phone sometimes hang at reboot.
Thanks in advance

[App][Root] FolderMount Support for Android 5.0+

For full FolderMount details, Go to this link --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192122
People who have updated to CM12 or lollipop version are facing several issues regarding FolderMount app is not working, Link2SD etc. (I was one of those) so after taking help from people around, here i present you an easy solution for it.
About CM12 Based Devices (Lollipop 5.0+):
> Since you are on CM12 and we all know it is based on Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux), you can see this is the basic concept here to make everything work like charm. What you have to do is change the SELinux status to PERMISSIVE MODE from ENFORCING MODE. This will allow the App to Get into with Full Root Access.
> What SELinux does here in ENFORCING MODE is that is limits the root access to be used. It generally stop the access to take all authority rights and moreover concentrating it should not damage your smartphone or tablet.
How to use FolderMount on CM12 Based Devices (Lollipop 5.0+):
1) Go to Play Store and Download SELinux Mode Change App
2) After the App Install, Open the app and allow root access.
3) You will now see ENFORCING MODE already selected.
4) Just click on PERMISSIVE MODE and head to Settings > About Phone.
5) Scroll to the last and see, the mode will be changed (CHECK SCREENSHOTS IN ATTACHMENTS)
6) Now, Open FolderMount and try to turn on the SymLink/FolderMount you wanted to create or already created.
7) Done! Enjoy your FolderMount or any other app that was creating root problems.

I've tried to change SELinux mode to Permissive and foldermount was worked, but my phone became not responding. I had to enter recovery mode to wipe the application cache and my phone back to normal. I've tried it twice and i got the same result..

Try this:
Unmount everything > change mode to permissive > reboot > install foldermount, clear data, add new link, add the link again and mark
remove duplication, activate the link/mount, reboot and try.
Also check the root and app has full write permission to folders and files and it's not clashing with any other thing.

Hit the thanks button if it helped I told you to remove some apps thats clashing root. CM12 comes pre-installed root option, so you don't need to install SuperSU or any third party app to manage root access.

Hi
There seems to be an issue with FolderMount and Marshmallow, would these steps work for Marshmallow? Looking at the App updates, it doesn't seem MM is supported yet, do we just need to play the waiting game?
Update the SElinux and change the mode to permissive, then update the folder mount to latest version.
Restart your smartphone and you can add the mounted folders easily.
Give it a try!
Thanks!
Hi
My phone is already set to permissive but how would I update the SELinux? is this done as part of the ROM, how would I check which version I am on? I have resurrection ROM 5.6.2 installed on my galaxy S4 i9505 ROM. I have the latest version of Folde mount installed but it looks like it doesnt say that it supports MM. Have you had this working on MM or are you using it on LL?

download the SElinux mode changer. That will help you!
Hi
Is the app available on play store? When I search for SeLinux mode change it doesn't produce any results for that app, only similar sounding ones.
Would a new version of the ROM i am using automatically update this?
Thanks
Is there a Version for MM?

[Q] reboot manager

Hi all, I am certain others are having this problem, but I couldn't find any threads about it.
Does anyone know how to get a reboot widget to work? I used to keep Quick Reboot on my home screen just to have easy access to recovery and other stuff. Since the Lollipop update, none of the reboot managers on the play store work.
Anyone know of a work around or alternative?
Is your phone rooted, from what i understand the app you're referring to or any like it requires it. If you are rooted most any custom rom will have the boot menu your looking for just not as a widget.
Holo Reboot works for me on OB7.

It has a dark and bright widget.

Dang, it doesn't work for me. It asks for root privileges and I grant them, then says your phone will reboot....but never does. It behaves the same way all reboot managers do, just bombs out.
It has been like this on every ROM I've used (Noterized, Alliance), including stock. WTF?? Are you certain it is rebooting your Note when you ask it to?
Even apps Like Synapse that came with my ROM cannot reboot. The Xposed module reboot function fails too. Like I said, it isn't specific to this ROM, it has always been like this for me on the NOTE 4.

I was using it with rooted OB7 stock using beta 2.49 SuperSU apk. Just flashed a custom ROM that uses 2.46 and does just as you say.
Try the beta 2.49. It was made for the lollipop kernel enforcing vs permissive mode issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55256620&postcount=1 Shouldn't be beta, IMO.
Edit: that didn't fix it on custom ROM for me either. I'll look deeper into this.

I have found that applications that issue a reboot command(like xposed), also fail to result in a reboot. However, interestingly enough, I just noticed that the reboot command from within Titanium works (it is inside the menu list).
Sometimes I notice when I try to reboot with a app, a toast message comes on a says "Reboot:Null" or "that function doesn't exist (or something like that)" as if that command functionality doesn't exist on the Note 4. I know it isn't a Lollipop issue, because my wife's G2 has Lollipop and Quickboot works flawlessly.
When Titanium successfully rebooted, it flashed a toast message (the first time). I didn't have a chance to read it all, it was long. But it seems to be using another method to initiate a reboot. Dunno, I am stumped.

I got some ideas just slow going setting up a fresh ROM. For stock, I had a highly customized setup, look and feel but everyone's preferences are not alike so I can't complain. Even with Titanium and TWRP tar to pull from, I had system customized too. I've got apps and lib folder to edit; some to copy over and some to delete. Keyboards have got to go; back to custom Swype with top number row and directional left right arrows. There's always the nandroid to restore but I'll try to set this up for a backup.
I'll chime in if I figure it out. Maybe just a matter of time. Not out of ideas yet. If someone has a solution, chime in.

[MAGISK] OnePlus 5 Google Dialer + Contacts - Fully working!

All the methods of installing the Google Dialer on the OP5 kinda worked but would not allow the user to answer/decline calls from the notification popup. Well, did some digging on this and found a solution. This is a Magisk Module, so for those that use Magisk, simple flash and restart. Be sure you select the new Phone app as default for calls. Also, need to go in and manually set the permissions for the app.
This can be done by going to "app info" for default OnePlus phone app and disabling, then by going to Google Phone "app info" and clicking on Phone App, then on the "Configure apps screen, changing the default Phone App to the only option you should have (after disabling the default one) which is the Google "Phone". Then make sure your new Phone app has all it's permissions.
Enjoy!
Update: TWRP install method added for those not using Magisk. Just flash the zip and good to go.

I have not tested it as I use Magisk, but it should work. Worse case is that it will still not answer from notification. Should not cause any boot loop or anything like that. Have you tried the zip? There should be no issues with it, if you have issues please let me know so I can fix it...

Great ROM.
Bugs include: 1. Developer options doesn't open, clicking it causes Settings app to freeze then force close.
2. Mobile data doesn't work. Network icon shows signal and H+ but doesn't actually connect. Wifi works though.
3. SuperUser doesn't work properly, apps like Titanium Backup can't get root access. Also if you Dual boot this ROM with Dual Boot Patcher, you need to flash Magisk.zip after every reboot or else SU becomes broken.

Titanium Backup TiBu and Android 10

Recently updated to Android 10 Q
I have had zero luck in getting Titanium Backup to work properly. Even when trying to restore data, it causes the app the crash resulting in me needing to uninstall and reinstall (not even wiping data helps).
Any steps I need to follow?
I have root with Magisk 19.4 (patched boot img), latest Q update (.c).
I'd really love to get this working as otherwise I'll have lost all SMS data. I backed up before wiping my phone, but the Google backup wasn't available for me to restore from...even my plan B is failing X^D

I got around to doing a full flash yesterday (even full flashed both slots) with the .c factory image. Also got the canary MM and canary Magisk updates early this morning. TiBa is working fine for me. Just a shot in the dark, but are you running EdXposed or any other modules/modifications (Substratum themes) that could be causing issues? The only modules I have loaded are MagiskHide Props Config, Active Edge System Mod and systemless hosts. My BusyBox is Stericson and not the module.

No other modules or mods installed, not even a custom kernel at that point., but I found that part of my problem is that TiBu corrupted my messages backup. It took the better part of an hour to back up, but the backup file is only about 350 KB...I'm crestfallen, lol. Never had an issue like that with TiBu, been using it for years. Didn't even think to check that the backup was saved properly.
Lol, I woke up this morning and flashed back to Android Pie so I could restore my messages in TiBU, and then back them up some other way and then roll forward to 10...only to discover this. Talk about salt in the wound.

I have the exact same issue as OP. I'm trying to restore my SMS messages on 10 with TiBu. I'm on 10, rooted, with Magisk 19.4. Every time I go to restore my SMS data, TiBu just hangs and I have to force close it.

Any other ideas on how I could restore these messages?

If you have a large message archive, it can take 30-45 minutes to restore. Maybe it's working

It turned out that I needed to make TiBu the default SMS app for the restore. Once I did that it worked right away.

Didn't TiBu prompt you to do that?
Not that I'm aware. It may have a couple of weeks ago, but not this latest time.

The solution to this is to disable "Verify apps over USB" in developer settings.
Solution to backing up SNS taking so long?

Backup sms/mms fails with most recent AOSP 10 (Pixel 3a). Manually changing default messaging app (no notification popup) doesn't work either. I guess TB isn't supported after Pie.

I heard that. Anyone who's been around this scene a while knows at one time it was great and a must for all users.
You can send logs in to TBU bug tracker web page. I'm sure they have a lot of people sending logs and writing them and it's probably hard to keep up but I sent some logs not long ago.. I never saw anything updated or anything because of my logs but...? I sent the maximum amount you can at a time and then filled out another report and sent more. Who knows...
I've been using Migrate NG from here on xda to backup my user apps and data from user apps. Works great! Check it out! Also from what I've read Swift app is supposedly the new good backup app that works but if you don't have pro you can only backup one app at a time and same on restore. Not sure why they don't do like a three day trial to let us try if out in pro version before we buy it...But from what I've seen they do not. Definitely check out Migrate app, anyone who hasn't. Works well on my OnePlus6t and the xda thread is active so if for some reason it doesn't work on your device there is help to get it to work.

I'm just going back to Pie and run it until the wheels fall off (like Kitkat). I don't like a lot of things with Q and breaks too many fundamental legacy apps and features imo. I can't really blame the old school developers for not supporting every autistic brain fart google comes up with.

I loved pie!! There are some awesome substratum themes too that lost support after pie... I hear you man. Many roms imo seemed to be better on android 9 than now. I used to like when android evolved and up graded to next version and now I don't because of exactly what you're saying here. You look at a nexus device back on say 7.12 and then now... Sure battery is better optimized nowadays but in my opinion those were the best times for android. More roms, themes, sound mods that were made universal (arise audio).. Android 7-9 was killer! I just know how much of a security risk it is using things that are that outdated... Especially nowadays! There is probably a way to patch an older version depending on how old it is.. I mean I see roms being made still for nexus 5x that are android 10 based now.. Good luck!
