I have problem watching videos on my RN5P , almost every video resizes badly , it mostly fills the entire screen automaticaly and it stretches everything making all very bad. Is there any settings I can tweak to set fixed resoultion or something like that?

as the title says, what's the best video file to showcase the screen on the EVO? i was told avatar but my file's native resolution is 6xx by 3xx so it doesnt fill the screen unless i stretch it, and then you notice the stretched pixels
I was told to try a high-def file. i tried a 720p and a 1080p file and both of them played slowly and skipped on the audio (i have bigger file size videos that play fine, so it must be bitrate causing the skipping)...
thanks for your suggestions
I followed this very easy guide for converting files.
http://www.talkandroid.com/android-forums/evo-4g/5201-guide-converting-video-files-work-evo.html
I then converted Avatar from 720p. Its glorious, and everyone who wants to see the video quality of my phone, I show the Avatar movie.
I don't get it. The screen itself can't display 720p on it. Why even bother? It can't even record 720p. By that I mean the compression and low light capabilities.
But yeah, no point in trying to impress people with the screen, really. xP
well i'm also trying to impress myself. i haven't yet seen video playback at its best settings.
it can't play at 720p but if you get the step down, being standard def. it's lower than the screen res on the evo. so we get 720p and downsize it to evo's resolution which is still higher than the 640x480 type of vga size video.
thanks for the tip. i had found handbrake through a search after i posted. now waiting on avatar and watchmen to finish so i can convert
I convert my BR rips for my EVO, and the best movie I have that shows off the screen is Transformers 2. I converted the IMAX one so it fills the screen
Hey everyone
Has anyone noticed or is it just me, the camera app looks perfect on the screen when its on picture.
If I slide it to video it becomes grainy with a lot of noise.
Its a huge difference between the quality of the two.
The noise is visable in the playback of the video.
I was trying to convert my iphone brother to android and he laughed at how much better his video was.
Any ideas or anyone experianced the same?
anyone or is it just me
I've been having a similar issue with my T-Mobile Note II! For some reason while the camera is running, a photo is displayed, or a video is playing, the screen renders everything kinda grainy. I thought it was my imagination, but when I open up a menu, all the icons and options look different too, they don't look smooth anymore, and the color is off. Kind of like a bad jpeg. It's even more noticeable when I use the pop up player, it effects everything I'm doing on the screen until I close the video.
This only happens while content is being displayed, though. When browsing the gallery or scrolling through my video list everything looks fine, until I open something. What's even weirder is this only happens in Samsung's camera, gallery, and video apps. Using any different media app to display content (I tested Camera Zoom FX, MX Player, File Expert, ect.) doesn't cause this at all. It sounds very software specific. I'm not sure if you've tried using a different video player besides the stock app, but try it and see if it looks the same.
I went to T-Mobile and replaced my phone yesterday, thinking it was just me, but the new one is doing it too -_-. You're the first person on any of the forums who seems to have noticed the same thing, lol. I was beginning to think I was going crazy

Hi! I've got some serious pixelisation/artifact problem when i stream to netflix or youtube.
The problem seems to be related at the black color. Most of the time when there is a dark scene or some black element in a scene i will see some kind of pixel/artifact. I took a screenshot of a scene in a godzilla trailer but ... For some reason it look good while on my tablet its not.
On the picture attached on the left building most of the left side in the black area is pixelated on my tablet (i dont know why its not on the screenshot)
I tried to turn off the adaptive display while whatching videos but... it doesnt help. I also tried different streaming option (auto, low, med, high resolution) with netflix but it didnt helped.
I would like to know if its normal or i've got a faulty tablet (its the 2nd tab s i've got with the same issue).
Thank you
It`s hard to see from that photo, have a search for "black crush" problem that affected Samsung displays in the past, see if your problem is the same, but this problem affects all video not just streaming, maybe it`s a compression problem from poor quality steaming.
I save your photo and loaded it into paint.net app and used the auto levels setting, as from your photo i could only see the center bright section.
John.
I would say it's more to do with the fact that the display has such a high resolution it is capable of showing up artifacts within the video that maybe another display is not capable of displaying.
I know the tab had a high res but this issue doesnt seem really normal to me.
i just did an exchange for another Tab s and it does the same thing on netflix. Is this possible because the resolution of the tab is 1.5x higher than 1080p i've got this issue?
I convert all my video`s to 640x360 on my 10.5" and they look great, so it`s more likely a streaming compression problem and not resolution.
John.
Guys im the only one who stuck with 720p videos in YouTube app?
Can't change to higher resolution no matter what kind of video
Solution: force close app.
Open app in unfolded screen. Choose high resolution. Fold it back to small screen Now u can set any resolution u want on small screen
I guess its a glitch.
yes so sometimes it detects only small screen and defaults to 720p. Force close the app and then open youtube on big screen it will show full res options again.
I tried the hard reset and it fixed it for some videos. I could get 1440p for some videos.
However, I went onto a different video without exiting youtube and again it's showing only 720p when my note 9 gives me 1080p for that particular video.
I have a huawei tablet and for that I installed a sideloaded youtube that forces all resolutions, but I don't really want to do that if I dont have to for the fold.
I used youtube vinced and fixed this problem

I have a weird issue with video recordin, if i record videos of fast moving objects and they are in the center of screen and then i watch the video the object moves out of the screen... It's like the software is slowing down the following speed and when i view the video the background is moving slower than when i record the video....
Video
Could it be a software issue? Has anyone similar problems with video recording? The quality is good and photos are perfect so i dont think its a hardware issue.
I never had that issue tbh, it sounds like a stabilization bug...
The isuue seems to be with 60fps and 120fps, on 30 fps its much better. I have no idea what i should do, i dont want to wipe the phone.
