Samsung devices on AOSP-based ROMs - Bluetooth shuffle/loop features missing - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Here's an issue that I've been trying to figure out for a while now...
In my car, using stock or a stock-based Samsung ROM, I'm presented with five buttons on the Bluetooth Audio media screen: Previous track, Play/Pause, Next track, Loop, and Shuffle. All these buttons work as expected. If looping or shuffle are on, it shows an indicator.
However, on every single AOSP-based ROM I've tried (device specific and Treble), the "loop" and "shuffle" buttons and indicators go completely missing, leaving me with just: Prev track, Play/Pause and Next track, as if the other two features end up being unsupported.
Are the loop and shuffle controls specific only to Samsung-based ROMs? Is there any chance of getting these features working on AOSP? It really sucks because I want to use AOSP but because of how much I drive, having this missing gets somewhat annoying especially since I don't want to pull out my phone while driving just to turn loop or shuffle on.
Any help is appreciated!

[Q] Supplied Headphones - Track skip?

Hi, i've searching for this for a while, but to no avail.
I love my new Galaxy S2, but there is one issue that bothers me, and that is that I have to take it out of my pocket to skip tracks.
I heard from one person stating you could skip the track by long pressing the button on the supplied head phones, however I cannot get this to work. Does this work for any body else?
If the headphones can't skip track, does anyone know of any that do (volume control is not important)? Or an app/trick to skip track without needing to take the phone out of my pocket? (such as long press volume rocker)
I have an old bluetooth stereo headset, and even this won't allow track skipping, only play/pause, despite working fine with my nexus one. All help would be greatly appreciated.
You skip tracks by double pressing the mic button. It's a pain to get the timing right, but it does work with the stock music player.
You can download PowerAMP Music Player from the android market.
It's a better music player and you can longpress the button to change the track
Trail version is 15 days, you gotta buy the full app after that

So If my headphones can't even play/pause the stock music app , I might have an some other underlying issue?
Strangely I play/pause with the headset if I install Fedes music app alpha v4, and possibly others. Will try uninstalling all music apps again and see if they were interferring somehow.
Confused!
To follow up, the double click to skip works in Fedes Music app (you're right about the timing) but still won't work in either the stock music app or the music hub.
Really fustrating.
The double clicking works on stock but you have to get the timing right, which is near impossible. The whole Samsung s2 stock music app is a load of crap compared to the original S, the sound, the music contol, the whole thing is much worse! I don't know what they have done, but they have definitely gone backwards with the music app!
You can use a remote from an HTC headphone for skipping tracks.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, but the button does not work at all when using the stock app. No play/pause, no track skip, nothing.
All other music apps seem to work as intended. So surely this must be an issue with my stock music app? As if there is a hidden setting I turned off, but can't find to turn back on.

About 2.5 years too late but I think I've nailed it. I can get a consistently successful double click skip by holding the first click a little longer. Using a pair of cheap Sony earphones on the S2.

[Q] Jellybean 4.1 Bluez Bluetooth AVRCP still having issues.

Hey guys it's nice to see that AVRCP 1.3 has been implemented on most of the new Jellybean roms but I am still having a few issues.
The most major being that the toggle Pause on my unit does not work in any player. Interestingly, when I pause the music in the playing app (Play Music, Pandora) the same physical button on the head unit will toggle and start playing. It simply will not pause. All other buttons (track advance, etc.) work perfectly. This is happening on all Jellybean roms and kernels I have tried. (Cyanogen 10, AOKP 4.1.2 and AOKP w Franco kernel) I am confident it is not my unit as my other phone works perfectly with both Cyanogen 7 and 9.
On a more minor note, The display will display the start time of the track in mins but does not advance as the track plays. If I manually pause the track on the phone then toggle play on unit the display will update the time again when the track starts playing. Lastly, the track number appears to displaying a random number sometimes in the 1000's
Hopefully a dev better than me can jump in and address these issues.
Thanks.

My headset remote buttons are no longer working

Nothing happens when I press the play/pause button, or the skip to next track, or the skip to previous track button. I tried this with Winamp playing in the foreground. I'm not sure if this is possible with Winamp. So I also tried it with MortPlayer Music which is what I have used previously and I know it supports this feature. But still nothing. Usually Mort will start playing as soon as I press the play button on the remote, even when it's not in the foreground or not even launched. But now... just silence.
I have SuperNova ROM with Data2SD and Android 2.3.3. I have S-OFF, root, and stock HBOOT.
Is there some service or process missing? Or not running in the background? What else could it be?
Just for clarification, the headset is working, I mean I can hear the music, it's just that there is no way to use the buttons to control it (except through the app).
Edit:
Also, is there something like a menu option or control panel, some means of controlling which app gets to use the headset buttons? Or a way of setting which app is the default music player? Or which one is the default browser for instance? Is this possible in Android? Some centralized place where you can set all of these things, a little bit like Windows style?
not tried it myself, but does this app work? it's a trial, so you can see if it works, and have to pay later. or might be other apps which are free and work, have a browse
(as an aside some roms allow long pressing of volume buttons to skip tracks, but i believe this has to be the stock music app, and probably has to be on the system partition)
Jack is the culprit!
I have found the culprit. It's my headset jack! You can check out the picture below.
I think some leads have broken inside the sleeve at the jack. That's why it bulges out like that, you can see that it's a little thick at that point. If I press and hold the cable at this point the remote control buttons work again, more or less, it glitches sometimes. If I let go it stops working, or it works sometimes if I move the cable around like when having the phone in a pocket.
For the record, this is the original HTC headset, I think it's RC-E160. The earbuds are still working though. So it's pretty much just a headphone right now. I haven't used it very much because, almost nothing at all, because of the poor sound quality. I started using it only like three months ago as as a temporary replacement when my Sony got broken. Now these are broken too. My Sony lasted much longer.
I still wonder how you can control which app gets priority and things like that, when you have like two or three different apps that respond to headset buttons. Is there no option in Android from where you can control this? Is your only option to uninstall the apps you don't want to be interfering? This doesn't seem well thought through.

[Q] Strange Behaviour: Stock Music Player forgets where in a song it was

Hello guys,
I've been tracking a very annoying issue with HTC's stock Music App.
***Short Version***: The player "forgets" where in a song it has been and restarts the song from 0:00.
I realized it, because I listen to audiobooks a lot and it is a pain to search for the point where you've been all the time. Enough background: Here is how to reproduce it:
Open the "Music" app, choose a new track, let it play for some seconds
Shut down the screen with the power button (music still playing)
Wake the screen with the power button and PAUSE the track
Now wait for a certain amount of time. I have to wait two[/i| minutes. My screen goes dark in the meantime (auto-sleep enabled)
[*]Wake the screen with the power button. 1st thing to realize: The Music widget is gone. Unlock the lockscreen --> Now the track is at 0:00 again.
[*]If this does not reproduce it (sometimes it seems to work fine): follow the above list but unlock the screen with a MotionLaunch leading to an App. From there go to Home and start Music from the homescreen.
Do you have this behaviour as well?
I have tried different versions of Viper ROM and ARHD - both react the same.
Do you think this could be a firmware issue? Or a bug in a new version of HTC's Music App?
I'm pretty sure this hasn't always been like that and I have recently updated to 2.22.401.4 with a FUU.

[Q] [HELP] Problems with Music Playback - Continual Pausing, Track Changing,

Model Number LG-D855 16gb
Android Version 5.0
Kernel Version 3.4.00
Software Version V20e-EUR-XX
I'm having problems with music playback on my LG G3, which I recently bought second hand. It came in the box having been factory-reset and initially everything was fine and dandy. In fact, I was well on my way to falling in love with the phone and Android in general.
Then I tried to play music on headphones with the phone in my pocket.
Problems
1. At first the phone stopped requiring a knock code to unlock whilever an application playing music was open. Now, the phone doesn't require a code at any time. This seems quite bizarre, but I can't find a setting to turn this feature back on.
2. To my knowledge, previously the phone required a press on the unlock button on the rear of the phone for the screen to turn on. Now, two taps on the screen will turn it on. Another tap will pause or change a track. This makes it impossible to put the phone in a pocket while music is playing, because after a few paces the song has paused or changed.
3. I think there's a motion-control feature activated. The motion of putting my phone in my pocket nearly always pauses the track that is playing. In any position other than lying flat on a table, the music frequently stops and starts.
All of the above behaviours happen with the native Music app, and also with Spotify, in equal amounts
I'm prepared to install another type of Android such as Cyanogen because I was already considering doing so. But I wouldn't mind knowing how to fix this first, or at least an explanation as to why these things happen at all.
