About xiomi redmi note 5 ai fake rom and fake unlocking problem

I bought a xiomi redmi note 5 ai which contains a fake rom( 9.5.13.0.0 OEIMIFA). In developers option it shows me that my device is unlocked but in fastboot it is actually locked. I tried to unlock it but couldn't get succeed. I also tried xiaomitool, xiaomi flash, some adb and edl proccess but couldn't get any success. In forum I saw test point twice method for whyred but I couldn't active edl by doing this hardware functionality because my device is new and I am also a noob in those matter. My mi id also unauthorised. Is there any chance that I can flash Official China stable rom and get the official update??? I am so disappointed with this. Experts, please help me to flash official rom on note 5 ai. give e some solutions.

Yeah I wanna know about this topic too. Many sellers are sending unsealed products and bootloader saying unlocked.

This is really weird....In dev options phone says "Unlocked" but when you reboot there is no "Unlocked" sign under Mi logo...WTF?????

You will need to give some more detailed information for people to help you. Go on the guides section, find one of the many bootloader unlock guides and follow it step by step: at which point does it not work, and what kind of error do you get?
You also mention your account not being authorized: if that is the case, then you absolutely need to get it authorized first, there's no way around that (short of finding someone with an authorized account to help you, I guess).
By the way, I would not focus too much on the fact that Developer options report the device as unlocked, if the ROM is unofficial, that is easy to fake. Whoever flashed the u unauthorized ROM must have then relocked the bootloader after flash.

this is why xiaomi has changed the way bootloader unlocks to prevent sellers from doing this.

To my knowledge, the new unlock policy just adds more time before unlock and makes it harder to use the same account for multiple unlocks. I would say it discourages sellers from doing this, but the more resourceful ones will keep doing what they always did, while us users have to endure the whole thing.

I got my redmi note 5 ai, it was already unlocked. can someone point out if it's good? In developer options says unlocked. I turned on usb debugging but OEM unlock is greyed out. Verity mode: true, device unlocked: true and device critical unlocked: true

My first R5+ came with an unlocked bootloader but the unlock process made it for the seller can corrupt eventually some partition or even unsuccesfull, they are not intend to unlock but change a chinese rom for a global and through the process device could get unlocked (time before, I guess not actually).
The most indisputable way without a doubt to know this is simply going to fastboot mode and typing

so fastboot reads at a low level directly in the right partition. There are some discussion on where is place this condition, some thinks that is in bootloader itself but others believe that it is in persist partition.

You mean unlock OEM in developer options? turn off USB debugging and then turn on again and now enable OEM unlock

If it is in a greyish, as unmarked so you can touch the toggle but is in positive OEM unlock? then don´t worry about that.
Just look at it before and after to do some update.

It is greyish yes, on negative as in off. I will try and make a mi account, see if it helps.

Is anyone having trouble unlocking the bootloader on the european version? (LMG710EM)

hi, so I was trying to unlock the bootloader before attempting to use an AOSP pie rom using this guide on the official LG site http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev
Anyway when I come to step 9, I type "adb reboot bootloader" and the phone reboots in fastboot mode. Then when I type "fastboot oem device-id" the phone freezes and I have to press the power button to restart it, meanwhile in the powershell command page it says

C:\Users\chahi\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\platform-tools>fastboot oem device-id
FAILED (Write to device failed (No such file or directory))
fastboot: error: Command failed
I checked my drivers and everything seems to work perfectly fine. I am at my fifth attempt and I'm beginning to feel pretty desperate. If anyone encountered the same problem or could help me solve this I will be very thankful !

I cannot 100% say what the cause is with certainty (I have the Sprint version and I absolutely hate this piece of trash) but others have reported similar issues from actually having a different variant that was cross-flashed to the EM model and sold as EM when it's really a Sprint version (for example). What happens when you enter your IMEI number in LG site, does it return the EM variant or something else? That's where I would start (unless you have already done this and confirmed it's EM). Non EM versions lack the full ADB support so we can't unlock the bootloader. This is the same point I lockup as well but mine was not intended to be unlocked.

Yes I actually typed my IMEI in the LG site and it gave me a gray OK so I guess I truly have the EM version ? (knowing that only the EM is supported idk) Are there other methods to make sure I have the EM version for sure ? Also worth noting that I bought the phone new from North Africa so it must be the european version and not a carrier one.

Not that I'm aware of but if the LGdev site let you get the unlock code then I will assume it's real as they do validate it. Normally I would suggest to reach out to LG but that's a waste, they won't help. In fact they shutdown the dev recently because of unlock requests so they don't care about us so that won't help you. I'll do some research and see if there's any official way to help but hopefully others will chime in with the answers.

That's what I actually did, I sent them an email but I'm still without any response. Thank you for your help tho ! Is there any unofficial way to unlock the bootloader on the LG G7 that I'm unaware of ?

Good luck with LG, they most likely will do nothing to assist you. That's my biggest gripe with LG, they suck with customer care nor give 2 craps about us, the customers. My LGG7 sucks so bad, it's barely usable but they will not do anything to help me nor Sprint so I'm leaving both once my horrible lease is up. All I can say is to sign the bootloader petition and leave LG, it's the only way they will ever change and even then, they probably won't. They will soon be out of business just like Blackberry's downfall and for the same reasons. They don't listen to the customers and change, nor did RIM with activesync, now RIM is a mere fraction of what they used to be, LG mobile is next. I hear so many complaints about LG devices, not just LG mobile but the entire company. All the same type of complaints across all LG products, no customer support when the device stops working and they pass the buck every time, and locked bootloaders (for LG mobile).
There is no unofficial unlock yet, that's why I'm so unhappy with the piece of junk! If I could unlock and install my own flavor of AOSP then it would be an entirely different story and I would fix my own issues and have an awesome device. Instead the jackalope in charge of LG decided to keep the bootloaders locked with no support to unlock (except for EM) but even that barely works (your issue).

SIM unlocked, yes, bootloader unlocked, no (on Sprint and everything other than the European model, no, EM model, yes), the rest of us, no, huge difference. I would pay a small fortune if bootloader unlocks were possible and why I bought the LG octoplus, still no option yet unfortunately.

Are you 100% sure this is not SIM unlocked using a modified octoplus (I have already gone down this path) so I bought my own octoplus. I am pretty sure all these "unlock" are merely SIM unlocks and not bootloader unlocks. I've investigated this pretty deep and it was only SIM unlocks not bootloader. As far as I'm aware, there is no hacks or mods to unlock the bootloaders for any LG G7 as of yet. eBay results are all SIM (which is simply using oct to apply the US-unkocked m ok model unlocking the SIM).
If you can find a REAL bootloader unlock method that works and unlocks my bootloader, I will PayPal you 20-30 bucks (I'm not joking). There is no method yet that anyone I know, knows of.

It's not sim unlock
It works by installing g710em bootloader and then flashing an unlock.bin .It's actual bootloader unlock. You can probably even do it yourself on a octopus box but I'm not sure what does it allow and not allow you to do.

Fantastic then I will investigate this new theory and if it works, reply to everyone. I've been waiting for this since day 1 with this terrible G7, I HATE this device and OS.

If does exist, I can't find it on eBay or the internet, only SIM unlocks. I will keep checking but I don't see anything to unlock the G7 bootloaders.

Hey Piatch, i'm stuck on your same situation!
I have a new LMG710EM taken a month ago in a store, today with the Pie release (I'm in Italy) I found some time to unlock the bootloader, root, debrand (my G7 is TIM branded) and update to Pie.
I'm not new with LG, I come from G2, G5, G6 and now G7, never a problem (apart from the slowness in the updates I like them).
Well, just your situation, only the wording is a bit different, to me it says FAILED (Write to device failed (Too many links)) then the phone reboots and freezes in G7 logo and I have to press the power button to restart it, like yours.
I've tried everything, even reading online, different USB cables, different fastboot versions, but nothing worked.
Then I unbranded via lgup refurbish option to have a clean install and reinstalled all, thinking that maybe the new OS would solve but nothing, same message.
Can anyone help us?
It is the first time in several years that I have not found a solution.

Hi f0ster, I did not find any solution because I was lacking the time and tbh the skill to do it. I think we can't unlock the bootloader while under Pie ? Maybe if we roll back to Oreo, then we can unlock it and then update to Pie again ? I don't have the skills nor the confidence to safely flash Oreo on the G7 (I had bad experiences with bootlooping on the G3 and G4). Maybe you could try this way and see if it works out for you ?

unlocking bootloader

unlocking the bootloader is a fairly easy process
it took me about 5 minutes
You can follow the motorrola guide here
the short version:
Go to the site
agree to terms
Download fastboot and the fastboot drivers
turn phone off , connect to pc, and power on + volume down
type: fastboot oem get_unlock_data
Paste the key into website, and ask for unlock key. That will be delivered to your inbox within 5 minutes,
and then paste it into fastboot: fastboot oem unlock UNIQUE_KEY
anyway, the provided guide by motorrola is quite nice, just follow that instead of my mumbling

This same process should work on the Moto g stylus as well I believe. May just try it when mine arrives next week

It's similar with other moto phones
I unlocked G6, G7, Z3 Play, Z4, and One Hyper same way

Do you mean a factory wipe of all data and reinstall or just default settings?

it will be a factory wipe, so you lose every setting and all data you have on the phone.
If you are using it actively, make a backup ( for instance with LMSA) ) prior to unlocking.
I think this has been the case sincce a long time on any android version / any brand. as soon as you unlock the boot loader, it will wipe your phone

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I just finally got the phone all set up so don't really want to wipe it. The only reason I want to root is to increase the color saturation. My LG V20 has a similar lcd screen. Once rooted and a kernel with Kcal, and boosting the saturation, it looks almost as good as a Samsung. Thanks for the tip on LMSA. Didn't even know what it was. That might just solve the dilemma.
Why the phone manufacturers don't give us more control over the screen is beyond me. The screens are capable.

I followed the instructions, and pasted the long string into the field on the Motorola website, but It popped up and said that my device does not qualify for unlocking. I did not purchase my phone through any carrier, but got an unlocked version via Best Buy.
Any help or suggestions on what to do next would be most appreciated!

Did you try using the tool on the website? I used that and I got the same message, so I ended up just pasting it in and manually erasing all the extraneous text and it went through without an issue. Try that and see if it works, if not...sorry I'm all out of ideas.

Yes. I've tried it both ways, pasting the text, and using their scrubber tool. I'll try it again, though and report back.
EDIT: Just tried it again, and still nothing. This is maddening.

Depends on which terminal you use
It it's regular command prompt, right click the top left code (make sure pound sign highlighted)
Drag to highlight the code and right click to copy
Now open the notepad and paste the code. Click the end of the line and press delete to let the next line join the current line
It should be like: 123abc#123abc#123abc#123abc#123abc#
Make 5 line into one line
Select all → copy
Paste the line and try again
I did bootloader unlock with few Moto phones this way and I had no problem

I'm using T-Mobile, but the phone was not bought through them. It's an unlocked model bought via Best Buy.
The Securestate is OEM Locked.
I should add that I do not have my SIM in the phone at this time, but that's never made a difference for me in the past.

is it enabled ? , can you enable it, or is it greyed out?

is it enabled ? , can you enable it, or is it greyed out?

OEM Unlocking is enabled. I just checked to reconfirm.

i see, it was starred out, android sage is not allowed i guess? probably bad rep. but the info there does seem ok.
but i added my google search term to the post, and you should be able to find it .
Just don't install any software from there

I found the tutorial, but it wasn't helpful. It seems quite dated. And one of the listed commands "fastboot oem device-info" wasn't even a recognized command.
I was able to enable OEM Unlock in the developer options, get the long 5-line code in ADB Fastboot, and I can get lots of info from "fastboot getvar all", but Motorola still says my device isn't qualified for bootloader unlocking.
And I know it isn't the "Moto G8 Power" here in the US, just the "Moto G Power", but I've heard of other US users being able to unlock. What gives??

hmm, maybe it's time to contact lenovo / motorola and see what might be the cause of this.

EDIT: I tried it again this morning, and it worked on my first try! Not sure what suddenly made it work, but I'm certainly not complaining! Thanks to everyone who tried to help!
I was afraid of that. I've heard them swearing up and down that devices aren't qualified to be unlocked because they're not on the list, BUT said list is old, and doesn't have anything newer than the G7 line. But I've already seen multiple G8, G Stylus, and G Power users gain their unlocks.
In case it may be helpful, below is the "fastboot getvar all" and "fastboot oem get_unlock_info" results.

8 Pro Amazon & Alexa built in

Purchased the Oneplus 8 Pro at a discount of £154.00 from Amazon UK. Arrived next day brand new from or fulfilled by Amazon. The 'phone is exactly as OnePlus store EXCEPT the bootloader is LOCKED. OEM unlock in developers options is greyed out. Android debugging - OK, Dev Ops - OK. Unable to unlock bootloader = no root. .
Tried the unbrick approach - still no unlocking.
There is no branding of any kind that I have noticed.
So it's back in the box, back to Amazon & wait for Black Friday.
Unless there is another way to unlock bootloader.
Hope this helps others making that money parting decision.

I obviously had a senior moment. I skipped accessing 'tinternet trying to be a smug mister.
I have now got the oem unlock the right colour, the device is unlocked & as I write rooting the unit.

OnePlus phones really shouldn't be locked down like that, shocking from Amazon.
What model / variant is it?
You should be able to adb uninstall apps btw, just Google it.

UK/ europe model, IN11BA OOS 10.5.8 out of box, OOS 10.5.11 back in box.(MSN Tool)
The OEM unlock was greyed out from first start up. My usual routine with onePlus phones: Power on run through initial setup (no sim), enable adb debug (I missed the OEM button 1st time - I'm getting old), enable advanced reboot. Update drivers on PC, then unlock bootloader, root etc;
I agree that it is very unusual for a Oneplus phone to be unbranded and locked down. It may be the Alexa built in partnership the thing is I did not notice the Amazon app on the phone.
It would be great if there is a work round for this before it goes to the courier tomorrow.

May sound silly but is the accessibility option turned on for OEM unlocking? Or admin?
May be possible to install another OS via Fastboot.
Did MSM make a single change?

MSN didn't make any changes.
Would using fastboot to flash another ROM still require an unlocked bootloader, also is the 'lock' for the OEM unlock before any other partitions.

Yep it's true. I had a panic moment this summer when trying to unlock my bootloader. I skipped through all the initial setup steps and never connected to the web. I could not figure out why the bootloader unlock option was greyed out. Once I connected to the web the bootloader unlock option was available.

Yep, If you skip all the steps during setup. Developer mode can be enabled, but OEM is grey-ed out. The tooltip below suggests connecting to the internet or inserting a sim.

I just guess I've never done that before..
Surely the first thing with a new phone is popping your SIM in and getting online..
It's assume the OP actually did that.

Question OEM Unlocking

I have been trying to root my S22 but continually run into the problem of OEM Unlocking. Everyone says just about the first thing to do is to select OEM Unlocking on the Developers Options but it isn't there. I even following one set of directions to try to make it show up but it didn't work either. I can't seem to get to the rooting without the OEM Unlocking. Anyone have any ideas? It doesn't have to do when I purchased the device which is what one person suggested but didn't help.

If this is a Snapdragon device, unlocking the bootloader most likely isn't possible.
Try this;
Remove the SIM
Factory reset
Skip through the setup wizard, DO NOT connect to WiFi or insert the SIM
After initial setup finishes, enable developer options
Manually set time at least 1 week ahead from now
Wait a few minutes
Check to see if OEM Unlocking is available

Your are right. Snapdragon won't let you unlock bootloader. Tried your steps and of course it didn't work.
